A mixed bag overall. Salesman came out with many samples and we found what we wanted quickly. The salesman repeatedly said the company is firefighters who are craftsmen at installing carpet. Told us they would be installing. We had to wait a couple of weeks for the install which is what was promised. When they came out my wife was home and I was at work. The first call to me at work was my wife upset over the attitude of the three workmen installing. She asked if the could move the furniture a few feet away from the fridge and washer as she needed to get in there. They had placed the furniture in front of both when clearing out the rooms. They told her no. They also asked for bottled water to drink which we have none. They did not believe her. She had to show them. She had them get tap water. Then they wanted ice which we also did not have and had to show them again. The workmen also are not the firefighter craftsmen we were led to believe. I called their office from work and asked about the firefighters. The man said they only sell the jobs and do not install. Also I mentioned the men told my wife no when she asked if the could leave room in front of the fridge and washer and he said they don't have time to do that. They also had their music loud and dancing to their tunes. They did this until someone called them ( I assume the man I talked to) . My wife said the man stared at her with arms crossed after he got off the phone. When the job was done they then kept trying to tell my wife what to write on the review of the job. The only good is the carpet does look good. Clean up was sloppy with nails and debris left on the carpet and on the front porch swing. I stepped on a piece of metal left from a carpet threshold taking a shower that night. No follow up to my phone complaint. They really don't care. They will never ever set foot in my home again.

Before listing my house for sale, we needed to replace the carpet. We were on a tight schedule and called Soft Step to see if they could accommodate. I called them on a Tuesday and they were out that night to provide an estimate. The next day, they called saying they had a cancelation in the schedule and wanted to install on Thursday! Great news! They arrived on promptly on Thursday, ripped out all my old carpet and put in new carpet on the second floor. From start to finish, about 48 hours after my initial call to them we had all new carpet. Amazing! I only dinged them slightly on the quality since their installers banged up our baseboards pretty good which required touchup paint. Having said that, their price, promptness, and professionalism was outstanding. Highly recommended!

I recently bought a condo and was doing a lot of painting and repair work on it prior to moving in. Since most of the downstairs carpet was badly worn I decided to make its replacement the very last task prior to moving in. I contacted two carpet companies to give quotes on the carpet; Soft Step eventually got the job because they could meet the tight schedule and had the kind of carpet I wanted at a good price. Bobby O'Neil of Soft Step Carpet came out with a van load of large carpet samples. We spent about an hour going through them in the condo to see how the different textures and colors would look. Bobby quickly made measurements and gave estimates of several different quality levels of carpet. We settled on a particular carpet, a price, and an installation date that was less than a week later on his promise that the carpet would arrive on time from the mill in Georgia (it did!). The carpet installers arrived on the appointed day and stripped out the old carpet and installed the new carpet, finishing up by late afternoon. HOWEVER, they were in such a hurry to finish that they were extremely sloppy and careless with the stretching tools; they left dozens of large black marks and streaks on the floor molding and even on the walls in every single room they worked in. In some spots the impacts from the tools were so heavy that they scuffed the fresh paint. This, despite me cautioning Bobby in advance that all the walls and trim had just been painted and so the paint was still soft! Needless to say, I was not happy. To make matters worse there was NO time to clean the marks and fix the paint damage because the very next morning after the carpet installation the movers brought in all the furniture. Bobby was apologetic and several days later he sent the installers over to clean up their mess. Unfortunately they could not get to more than about a quarter of the marks because by now the furniture and boxes were in the way and most of it could not be moved at this time. The painter is coming in to repair what he can reach but he, too, cannot get to all the damaged places. So I'm left with a condo that has dozens of ugly black marks and scuffs on the floor molding and the walls. I have had carpet replaced numerous times before in other places, and this is a result I've not had before. If I had it to do again, I would not even consider using Soft Step unless they get installers that have more respect for the customers' homes.
