He was professional, courteous, and very knowledgable. He was easy to work with and I would highly recommmend him.

The provider was great. They came and gave me suggestions to finish off my patio that had been left unfinished by a previous company who then went out business. He came out and not only gave me suggestions to fix my patio but also gave me overall landscape ideas. We are considering adding on next spring and will definitely call them again.

Jesse came to the house, took the time to really listen, take notes, even walked down the street with me to look at some plants I wanted to show him. The plan took longer than expected to be drawn up, but he let us know this would be the case, and we happened not to be in a hurry, so it's fine. They were also willing to let us cut down the cost by doing some of the work ourselves, or buying some of the plants ourselves in order to save some money.

Representative was personable and seemed knowledgeable. Give me some good feedback on what it would take to do what we wanted. We did get a plan of what we discussed but no estimates of what that would cost if we went forward. Contacted them again via email and asked for a break down of what the various steps would cost. Never heard back from them. The impression I got was that they were fulfilling exactly what the Big Deal was and wasn't interested in doing our work or at least discussing further.
Description of Work: Came out and accessed our landscaping needs. We put emphasis on our back yard. Under the Big Deal, we were to get a landscaping plan based on that accessment.

We fulfilled our part of the Big Deal which is what this member purchased, however when we explained our scheduling time frame was 2 months out that would not work in their time frame. We won't submit a proposal to be used in a bidding war with other contractors. As we have stated many times to many people were allowed to purchase this Big Deal and it filled up our design time and also our work log of installation work. Some members are more patient and willing to wait, my process is simple when we tell someone what our time frame is and they say that is to far out we won't submit a proposal to be used in a bidding competition. Sorry this member did not like that but that is our process. Overall he was happy with the Deal he purchased which is nice to hear, but you can't blame us for not submitting a proposal with no chances of being awarded the project.

I purchased an Angies Big Deal for a landscape design. It turned out to be a popular item: the company kept me informed of appointment opportunities or schedule changes. Jesse van Walsen met with me to discuss my project. He listened to what I wanted and offered suggestions. Informed me of the projected timeframe to receive the plan. The project design was emailed to me and included directions if I wanted to accept the proposal, prices for different options. Once I accepted the proposal, I was given a tentative installation date ... any changes (it ended up happening sooner) the time-lines were communicated in a timely manner. The installation crew were quiet and quick. The installation was done per the agreed upon plan. They cleaned up nicely, even watered the plants before leaving. Overall a very positive experience. My only suggestion is re the plan which is nicely itemized re the products, but the costs are not itemized, just a total amount is given.

The plan was e-mailed to me in a couple of weeks. Later, when I asked for an estimate it was sent in a timely manner.

He seemed very busy when he came to my home. He did say he was bombarded. I was disappointed in my experience. He never followed up with a call to say anything more about the project.

As with all the members who disliked the length of time and how many people purchased this Big Deal, we were honest up front, we completed the consultation and the design that was purchased. We have found members who bought this wanted work done but did not want to wait to have us actually perform any of the installation. Our installation schedule like our design schedule has been about a 8-10 week lead time for any new work. Write a review about the design and consultation that’s what you purchased and that’s what we completed. This member never purchased any installation work and never followed up when we asked them to review the drawing and let us know what they want to tackle first. This member has had the drawings for two months and after we asked her to review things we never heard back from her. 129 members bought this we are sorry we did the best we could with two designers working with members to complete their consultation and designs ONLY. As with all members who bought this Big Deal we honored all aspects of it, were honest up front about scheduling and even giving budget costs. If this member did not like things from the beginning then simply contacting Angies List for a no questions ask refund of your $49 is all you needed to do. To write a review about anything other than what you purchased is not fair to us because we completed the Big Deal purchase.

The service provided by Landscape Design Solutions worked out well. We had to wait because they had an overwhelming response, it was a month later that they could come out and another month before we got the plans.
Description of Work: They came out, looked around the yard, spent quite a bit of time talking to me about my preferences, landscape wise and afterwards they made up a plan and emailed it to me.

THE APPOINTMENT SEEM RUSHED AND THE CONSULTANT DID NOT UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT I WANT AND DIDN'T WANT IN THE LANDSCAPING OF MY YARD. HE WANT TO REMOVE PLANT I WANT TO KEEP AND ADD PLANTS THAT I WAS NOT SURE IF I WANTED. I TOLD HIM I WANTED ALL OF THE GRASS GONE IN THE BACKYARD AND IN THE DRAWING HE LEFT AREAS OF GRASS. THE DRAWING TOOK 3-4 WEEKS TO BE SENT TO ME BECAUSE HE WAS BUSY WITH OTHER JOBS. WHEN I DID GET THE DRAWING -THEY WERE NOT OF ALL MY YARD -JUST PART OF THE BACK YARD/ONE SIDE OF THE HOUSE AND PART OF THE FRONT YARD. I DID NOT USE THE COMPANY TO LANDSCAPE MY YARD AND FEEL LIKE I WASTED $49 ON A CONSULT.

This member new like all the other members who purchased this Big Deal that it will be weeks to wait for you meeting and also your plan. This member if they did not want to wait that long as she does indicate could have simply requested for a no question refund for her $49 to Angies List who would have gladly refunded her money. The Big Deal as we have stated in other reviews should have been capped but it was not, that is both Angies List and Landscape Design Solutions error for not seeing that potential issue. When 131 people buy something it takes time and energy to produce those meetings and plans, which we have done.

Everything was great from start to finish!! We get complete strangers walking by our house complimenting us in the work. Neighbors seek us out at the gym to tell us how great our house looks!
Description of Work: Jacob came out within 2 days, he listened to what we wanted and came back within 1 week with a complete design. Out of 4 landscape design companies on Angie's list Jacob was the only one who listened and had a complete design with pricing. His men showed up on time and the project was completed on time. His employees were very courtesy,asked questions, and worked around our house painter. Jacob also facilitated a tree removal from a service he uses- he even replaced the tree without additional charges. We have had an issue with one spot where grass was planted and Jacob came out ,diagnosed it and instructed us to call the water department. Turns out it was a water main leak from our neighbors which could have potentially cost us thousands of dollars in irrigation/ drainage work. I would hire them again, I have no doubt if any issues come up Jacob will make it right. They did a complete landscape design, new patio pavers, front pavers, side pavers, and grass seed. What a great company. Hire them, you won't be sorry!

We really enjoyed working with this member, we have gotten some great photos of our work. Its great to hear that friends and neighbors shower them with compliments. The water line issue could have really gotten ugly for their driveway, but we make it a habit to drive by our projects and check on them preiodically. That way we can direct our clients if we see an issue arising, also provide a solution to that issue.

It worked out fine. The send me the design information and plans out and that is all I did. They were helpful, good plan, very nice, took a lot of time with me, listened and provided good feedback. I don't have any work done. I would use them again in the future.

It went fine. The guy was very very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend them based on that we didn't have them do the work we decided to do it ourselves, but they were very thorough and professional. I would use them again in the future.

Description of Work: Jesse worked with me to finalize the design for my patio, seat wall and fire pit. He was willing to bring samples of the various stones he proposed using so I could see them before committing to the project. The contract has now been signed and my project is scheduled for installation sometime in August-September (depending on weather). I am also awaiting a quote for them to dig up sod and prep the soil for new landscape beds.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They did what they said they would do after I emailed them a couple of times. It was way out of my price range so I did not use them for the work. I had to jog him several times to get him to come and look and do it. There was quite a delay after he did come before he emailed me the proposal. It was probably 3 weeks. I had to ask him about that also. The price was pretty high. The diagrams he submitted were okay. He did come when he said.

We submitted (4) drawings for his landscape around his house, this member never shared a budget on what he wanted to spend. I find his comment about price to be out of line because sharing that information is improtant in how you proceed with a plan. We submitted plans and proposals that his project could be done in 3-4 phases, but never heard back from him. In the end we provided the consultation and the plans per the Big Deal he purchased. We honored all aspects of that purchase, which was for a design and consultation only.

It was great. They responded immediately and I really appreciated that. It took me sometime to receive the service but when he came out, he was professional. I was really happy with him. What impressed me was his way of communication, the actual output and the feedback after the service. He gave me nice list on what I can do to my garden. He was very expensive though, so I didn’t purchase it from him but I have a whole list of what to get, so that was really great. I would have appreciated more if they would have got back to me a bit earlier but the pricing was great.

The consultation went well. They were very busy with the demand from the coupon but they were very open and honest. They kept me informed throughout the whole process and provided a good design for me. This vendor admittedly got overwhelmed by the Big Deal and could not respond timely. It took them about 75 days to get my plan done and with several e-mail reminders. The deal ultimately became useless to me because I had to get my landscaping replaced - I could not wait any longer. So I ended up doing it myself. But, if you're willing to wait, it seems like it's worth the price. The plan was a quality plan. Kind of disappointing for me though because I could not use it.

This member is correct to many of these Big Deals were sold and it should have been capped at 70 not 129 which is how many were sold, however that is not our choosing when we agreed to this deal. It runs for a week as we understand. We did complete the Big Deal and were honest the entire way with all the members. Angies List from the last day you could purchase these Big Deals sent e-mails to members that an extreme number was sold. They also have a no question refund which he could have executed at anytime rather than wait to go through the process. Additionally If this member was in a hurry he never shared this with us, many members stated they were in no hurry. Regardless we completed the meetings and Big Deals in order as how they were purchased to be fair to everyone. In the end he got a design and his consultation but I think his review is unreasonable.

Appt was 04/29 and was told I would have a diagram within 10 days. Contacted me and told me due to the responses, it would take longer. I finally received it on 05/23. When I did receive it, it did not include all that we discussed. I e-mailed Jesse and he did respond to me within the hour and sent me a new diagram. Still was confused by it and have not contacted him. I might contact him to review, but not sure. Price to do the work seemed okay, but again, I'm not sure it was what we discussed.

With regard to this member who has purchased Big Deals in the past and never received the service we are a little disappointed by her review. She was looking for a few small beds designed and to spot where a Weeping Cherry should be placed in her front landscape. We repsonded back within an hour on a request she made after she received the drawing, only to give us a (D) rating on punctuality. We completed her Big Deal, all aspects of what she purchased. For a member who has had issues with Big Deal purchases and not getting the work completed we are really disappointed in her review.

He came to the house to assess potential landscaping for the backyard. He was extremely helpful in discussing possiblities and cautioned me against major landscaping in one area of my property that would cause potential flooding. He suggested doing doing minimal things. Within several weeks he emailed our plan for the backyard and included a major list of perinnials that would do well in this climate area.

I expected to see a design of all of our landscaping re-configured into a better design. what I got was a design that included minimal types of plants. for example 3 of the areas included one type of plant lined up in the bed. I could have done that. On the other bed looking at the design a tree was placed where we walk out into the yard and would have blocked the entrance to and from the patio. That bed only included 2 different plants and a tree. Not sure if the deal was more for a true patio remodel.

This member was provided detailed and scaled drawings of her complete landscape. If she wanted to see some changes we would have gladly done that for her, at additional cost. The Big Deal she purchased did not include any changes to the designs we provided and this has upset some members we are finding. We would have had to charge some additional design fees probably another $50-100 in her case. Since she never chose to respond back till she wrote this review I guess we will never have a chance to solve some of her concerns. Communication is a two way street and when we send the plans back we rarely hear back from some of these members pertaining to this Big Deal. This member did not like some of the recommendations we made, but we are evaluating for plants that will thrive in your own ecosystem, we have one meeting only to get all the information you can give us and perform the design. We perform these designs based on the intial and only meeting as set forth in the Big Deal the member purchased. You are free to ask for additional design work it will just cost some additional money. Major design work if that is what you are looking for cost more than $49 and the member should be more understanding that due to the cost you do have limitations to what we can and will do. In the end we completed the Big Deal and honored our part to provide an onsite evaluation and design.
