Description of Work: The quality of carpet I had installed in Nov. was lousy and I have to have it replaced. It was installed in a small room and started to go bad after four months. the carpet is all matted. Buddy's is no Buddy to the carpet consumer.

I spoke with Chris Hamilton, The Indiana VP who disregarded my complaint until I went through Angie?s List. I was shocked and could not believe they used the ?mill tactic? to avoid responsibility for high-quality carpet coming up along a seam after ONLY 6 months. Their ?scientific analysis? is a sham! Both the salesman and installer agreed that there was no urine stain or odor. How unethical, yet easy, for Buddy?s to shift the blame from the company to the consumer.
Description of Work: My complaint deals with the Feb.06 purchase of $2500 worth of high quality, pet-friendly (we have 2 house-broken dogs) family room carpet with a 2 yr warranty. Only 6 months later I noticed the carpet no longer adhering along the seam. The salesman (Tom) said that the mill would have to inspect it, then the mill claimed that it was not their responsibility - that dog urine caused the problem along the seam. There was no urine stain or odor and Tom and the installer agreed. The installer came out to try to patch the problem at my expense, but said this would only be a short-term solution - that I would have to replace the entire carpet in the near future (since ordering a replacement piece would be from a different dye lot and look horrible).

Salesman was awkward to work with as he didn't really know how to answer most of our questions and seemed to be telling us what he thought we wanted to hear to make a quick sale. The installers showed up late but were very courteous and worked quickly. We were not as happy with the way the carpet felt after installation. We wish we would have been told during the purchase that a better quality padding would have made the carpet feel a lot nicer under our foot. We went for the cheapest padding because the salesman told us it would be nice. Mostly our fault, but we wish the salesman would have known the product better to help guide us.

My basement remodeling job was complete minus the carpet. We purchased carpet with Buddy's and had them install it. The installation was supposed to be a one day job but it turned into two because of some issues with the installers. The installation was not any easy one as there were stairs involved along with over 1000 square feet to lay in three rooms. Once the installers knew that they would be unable to finish in one day they said that they would return early the next day to finish the job, and that is what they did. Overall, it was an okay experience.

THEY MISCALCULATED THE MEASUREMENTS AND FAILED TO BRING ENOUGH CARPET TO INSTALL. THE STORE MANAGER SAID IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT A WEEK TO GET THE REST OF THE CARPET BACK IN. AFTER SOME DISCUSSION, BUDDY'S PROMISED TO HAVE IT IN THE NEXT DAY AND DID IN FACT GET THAT DONE. I WAS UNHAPPY WITH THE PLACEMENT AND QUALITY OF SEAMS IN THE INSTALLED CARPET. WHEN I LEFT A MESSAGE FOR THE MANAGER TO CALL ME ON THIS, HE NEVER DID. HOWEVER, THE INSTALLER, GREATLY IMPROVED THE QUALITY OF THE SEAMS, ALTHOUGH HE COULD DO NOTHING TO MOVE THEM INTO LOWER TRAFFIC AREAS. I AM STILL NOT SATISFIED WITH THE INSTALLATION, ALTHOUGH THE FINSHED JOB IS "GOOD ENOUGH." I WILL NEVER CONSIDER BUDDY'S CARPET AGAIN AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE. THE STORE MANAGER'S UNWILLINGNESS TO CALL BACK WAS THE WORST PART OF THIS EXPERIENCE. FRANKLY, IF NOT FOR THE PROFESSIONALISM OF THE INTSTALLER, I WOULD LIKELY HAVE GONE TO COURT OVER IT.

HAD PROBLEMS FROM THE START. WHEN THE CARPET WAS DELIVERED THEY WANTED TO GO AHEAD AND INSTALL IT -EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A HUGE TEAR IN IT. I HAD THEM TAKE IT UP AND THEY SCHEDULED AGAIN FOR A LATER DATE. WHEN THEY BROUGHT THE NEW CARPET, IT WAS CUT THROUGH THE BACKING IN 7 DIFFERENT PLACES AND LOOKED LIKE IT HAD BEEN DRAGGED THROUGH GREASE. THEY RESCHEDULED THE INSTALLATION FOR A THIRD TIME. THE CARPET WAS DAMAGED, BUT THEY WERE ABLE TO INSTALL IT BECAUSE THE DAMAGE WAS NEAR THE EDGE. MY HOUSE WAS IN DISARRAY FOR 4 WEEKS. THE WALLS HAD TO BE REPAINTED DUE TO SCUFFING. THEY CUT THE VINYL FLOOR IN THE KITCHEN FROM MOVING FURNITURE. THE PRICE ABOVE IS HALF OF THE CHARGE. THE INSTALLER WAS A VERY COMPETENT AND PLEASANT PROFESSIONAL, HOWEVER, THE STORE MANAGER WAS NOT.
