A Treemendous Design

We had a 20-year old large brick patio that was in tough shape, along with several flower beds that also needed a lot of work. We received a couple of quotes from other landscapers before Steve came out to provide a quote. Steve stood out immediately with his professionalism and vision on how to improve the patio and landscaping with a budget focus in mind. The cost of replacing the brick patio with new pavers would have increased the cost of fixing the patio exponentially. Steve assured us that he could re-use our bricks and make the patio look like new. The patio bricks were faded, covered with moss, and had tons of weeds in between. After Steve and crew finished the job, he was right, the patio does look like new. Steve's suggestions also helped improve on the original patio design. There was a narrow 12" flower bed between the sunroom and patio wrapping around it. When it rained it caused soil to flow onto the patio making it difficult to keep clean. Steve suggested moving the patio right up to the foundation, effectively eliminating the flower bed. It looks great and solved a problem. The patio was in such a state of disrepair the past few years that we didn't enjoy using it. Now we can't wait to go out there when the weather allows. Steve also gave great landscaping suggestions to improve the flower beds around the patio and in front of our house. We really appreciate how Steve patiently described various plant and shrub options based on descriptions of what we were looking for. His knowledge of what plants work well in areas with less sunlight, or how different plants look together based on shape and color was invaluable. Overall, Steve and crew deserve an A+ for the transformation of our patio and flower beds. We couldn't be happier.

Steve and his crew did a first rate job. Steve met with us and walked through the project, then provided us a detailed line item quote with price breakdown. Steve was very conscious of cost containment and provided us ways to get the most for our money. While the weather was not initially cooperative, Steve kept us apprised of projected startvdates and once things got underway, his crew were friendly, hardworking and efficient. Selected Steve from a list of highly rated landscape providers listed on Angie's List. He responded quickly to my request to come out and view the project, suggest alternative plantings and provide a cost estimate. We put the project on "hold" for a few months while we tackled other matters. When we resurrected the project in late August, Steve again came out to meet with me and consider other plantings for this area. We ultimately agreed on what needed to be done and signed a contact. The project was scheduled and completed shortly thereafter. Steve came out with the installation crew so that we could agree on the positioning of the individual plantings to achieve the desired result (screening of my neighbor's deck and dog run). Installation crew was very professional, was willing to work with me on the location of the individual plantings, completed the installation in a timely manner and removed all debris. At this early state, we are pleased with the results.

We have used A Treemendous Design for quite a few years, for both landscape design and spring/fall maintenance. Most recently, we lost a tree in front of our house, which left a bare area in our landscaping. Steve Beck came up with a design that was quite different from what we had before, and will add a lot of color and variety to our front yard. The work (as usual) was done in an efficient and professional manner. It's always a pleasure to work with them.

After looking at a number of different service providers, we went with A Treemendous Design for a near total gutting and redesign of our back yard. Steve came out, met with us, explained our options to us, and provided us with a quote within a few days. There were some inevitable delays due to the weather, but once they got started they worked quickly and efficiently. And when a problem arose Steve was on top of it, and the project turned out great. We would not hesitate to recommend Steve and A Treemendous Design.

My wife and I could not be more pleased with the final product and would recommend Steve and his crew to others. They were always professional and were very helpful in finalizing the ideas that we had for our yard. The beds look great with the new plants and mulch and we've already gotten a lot of use out of the new flagstone patio. The process was not without a few bumps though. We signed the contract on May 1st and were given an estimate of 6 weeks before they could start work, which should have been the week of June 11th. Work actually started about 4 weeks after that, on July 10th. Around 10 weeks after we signed the contract. We understand that the time frame given was an estimate and their work schedule is weather-dependent, but the delay seemed excessive. On the day work was starting we were informed that they were out of the color flagstone we ordered and would not be in stock until the fall. We are very happy with the lighter gray that we ended up with, but feel this is something that we could and should have been informed of much earlier. Even with these concerns, the overall experience working with Steve and his team was great and we are very happy with how everything turned out.

We had to chase the vendor to get response as to why it was taking so long to get anyone out to do the work. We were told it was all rain delays which were a factor but the rain didn't wash out the phone lines and internet connections. Price was quoted at $300 but did not include the cost of mulch!? We had them remove a very small brick border in front of one of the beds and trip a hedge in the back. The cost of the mulch, removal of the brick border and trimming the hedge was another $200 making this a $500 invoice. Too high for the amount of work. Will not use again

We're so happy with how it turned out. The project manager put a lot of thought into how to design the wall around existing site constraints (root system of a large tree, etc.), and some special requests from us (make it kid-friendly). It took a while to get started due to the very wet weather this summer, but they were always prompt when I emailed for a status update. The work was completed in about a week once things got underway. That included removal of a lot of ground cover plant material, demo/removal of an existing concrete wall, construction of the new wall, and new plantings in the yard once completed. We've had so many compliments from neighbors about how great the new wall and yard looks.

Superb, outstanding, could not be more pleased with the company. Prompt, professional communication from initial contact, through estimates, a busy summer, all the way to a clear how-tos for me to perform the proper basic maintenance. Lovely design appropriate for my modest needs, work areas are tidy. Today is the day after, and it looks like the plants have always been there.

Took months longer to start than originally told. Once done, there were still weeds everywhere and half of the plants they planted died within days. When I voiced these concerns, I was simply told to water them and pay my bill immediately. Very dissatisfied.

It looks really good after two years. I do wish they would have used some larger stones in places. There has been some settling where water collects but I have used them before and would use them again.

The owner was prompt in replying to my request for quote and he was the only company I contacted who asked many specific questions about my yard and my expectations. Speaking with him was informative and I felt confident hiring them. The crew who has come out to do my lawn care ( I have had about 5 services so far) has done such good work and has asked questions to make sure they are doing what I would like. Great service from all aspects!

Everything was excellent. From the initial consultation to the final walk through, everything was great! I felt like the quote was fair and communication was really good. I dealt directly with Steve Beck and he was very responsive and kept me up-to-date on changes that had to be made to my install date (due to rainy weather). He listened to everything I described I wanted and was very helpful in guiding me to decide what would be best in my yard. The team that came out was very professional and courteous. They worked quickly and cleaned everything up when they left. My yard looks amazing and I will definitely use them again in the future.

Good design and good price. Determining what I want to do first and saving funds to perform work.

We are already scheduled to use them again. They do very good work. They have a couple people working so it doesn't take very long. They come in and do the lawn and leave. Then they send us a bill so we don't have to worry about paying them every time.

Prompt response to estimate even though it was the height of spring landscape business. Prices were very reasonable. For the fall, I requested a refresh on the mulching and it was done quickly and well. Communications with the company were great!

Steve spent a lot of time first of all listening to my concerns and understanding what I wanted. He put together a detailed plan with drawings and emailed it over to me. They managed to do the installation at least a week ahead of schedule and in fewer days than initially stated. The team was very respectful and courteous. At the end of each day, they left our place "cleaned up". At the completion of the project, Steve walked it off and explained the care that needs to be taken to ensure the plants get a proper start going into the fall and winter months.
