Each room of this four month renovation project presented challenges that were met and conquered by Castlebrook. The primary focus in the kitchen was to replace tile floors, reconfigure the floor and wall cabinets and add granite countertops. The work completed in our tired kitchen was truly transformational! They uninstalled and moved the cabinets to the places they should have been installed by the original builder. Once the layout of the wall cabinets was perfect, they created custom crown molding and custom matching stain to ensure the style was uniform throughout the kitchen. The Castlebrook tile guy was very creative and helped us design a very trendy glass tile backsplash and a unique, random design for the floor tiles. Castlebrook designed and built full wall-length shelves units in their company workshop and transported them to our house to be installed in our family room. The master suite was upgraded with, custom book shelves, bamboo flooring, heavy crown molding and a divider wall with three, custom finished glass panes. The bookshelves were custom stained to match the new flooring. The on-suite bathroom was transformed by removing the plastic surround shower and replacing with a custom tile and glass door spa-like shower with a rain shower head. All upstairs flooring was replaced with bamboo flooring. Castlebrook replaced the treads and risers for two stairs and the landing. The final results of the renovation exceeded our expectations at every measure! The Castlebrook crew spent much time in our house; throughout the four month project, they were respectful of our property, and our time. They worked with us to ensure our project remained within our budget and all work exceeded our expectations. He took advantage of the fact that I was out of state. He kept contacting me for more and more money, and kept delaying things. The project was supposed to be finished by 10/2008, but I was unable to get into the house until 7/2009. I had an expert who spent 200 hours studying 5000 documents, and he found that there was double, triple, and quadrulple billing in many cases. I had paid for enough lumber to build two houses! The lumber should have cost $81,000, but I was billed for $281,000, just for the lumber. I was billed for enough gravel to build a 1 mile road. He was billing me for $40 an hour, for his services, which was not any part of our agreement. I was billed for 6 stoves, 5 dishwashers, multiple TVs (and I didn't buy any appliances through him). I was billed for decking (there is no deck on the property). I took him to court and he was convicted on 8 counts, for fraud, excessive enrichment and piercing the corporate veil. Additionally, he was found to be in violation of Ohio Consumer Fair Practices Act.
