I scheduled the appointment for 8:30 and they didn't arrive until almost 9:00, which irritated me right away since I needed to get to work that day. But it seems it was more of a communication issue- they said the scheduler told them between 8:30 and 9:00, although I was told 8:30. Anyhow, that was the only issue- they went right to work and were conscious of the fact that I needed to get to work. They worked quickly, found the problem, fixed my switch and outlet and were done by about 9:30. They apologized for being late and offered a 10% discount (even though I would have gotten this anyhow since I'm an Angie's List member). There were 2 technicians and both seemed to know what they were doing and had no trouble fixing my issues. I thought the cost was reasonable- they had a lower service charge than anyone else I contacted. They were efficient, knowledgeable and pleasant. I would use again.
Description of Work: I hired Bocha to fix a switch to an overhead light fixture and figure out what was wrong with the fixture as well as fix a loose connection in an outlet.

They were very easy to work with and were able to schedule the work at the same time as the plumbers.
Description of Work: They came out on two occasions within about 2 weeks. The first time was to fix a problem with a ceiling light fixture that wasn't working. They did troubleshooting and found a bad wire that was replaced. The second visit was part of a tankless water heater install where a new outlet needed to be installed. The total cost includes the 130.00 cost of the light fixture and the 293 outlet install.

The owner provided the best price estimate for the job. The other estimates were hundreds more. The owner was very personable and professional. The team that came out was also very professional. They did a terrific job and completed the job as requested in the amount of time promised. The light is great and I wish I had hired this job sooner. I would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: Installed outdoor double flood light on the back of my house and a new indoor switch to control that light added to an existing 2 switch box at the back door.

The service was good and the guys were nice but they charged over a $100 for parts which amounted to about two electrical outlet boxes. The hourly charge was fair.

I have to say they were prompt and met my tight deadline and in the end the TV looks great. However, the people who showed up to do the actual work were not the original people I met with (Dan and Chan). The guys that peformed the work were unprofessional and spent a lot of time on the phone having Dan explain what they should be doing. Finally, they got frustrated that they could not figure out what to do and left without the work being complete. Dan called and mentioned that there was an additional piece that was required and he would have to stop by and install it. He made a point of showing me that the part was less than $10, but charged me $50 for it, not mention an additional $50 for him to come back out. I was also charged for speaker wire, which I had waiting for them but was never asked if I had it. They also quoted installing can lights in a vaulted ceiling and several other jobs. I found this pricing to be outrageous, especially when considering I had the work done by others that were more professional and less expensive.

Member, While we appreciate your concerns we did explain before that we provided you with a free estimate for the installation and on our estimate we did not include installing the speaker wire or speakers. When we arrived your partner asked us to do that but stated he did not have the speaker wire. The additional charges were for the wire we provided in addition to the trip charges and labor to pick up the needed materials and do the installation. Our initial quote was $975, you actually paid $1,075, so an additional $100 for us to supply speaker wire and install the wire and your speakers. And it includes an additional trip for a part we could not have known in advance you needed because you didn't have your entertainment system there when we quoted you. We did notice that you had your recess lights installed by someone else. We can certainly understand that handy men are able to charge less than licensed, bonded and insured electricans. In addition, the cans and trims they installed for you were not the same as what you requested and what we quoted in our bid. We had quoted angle cans and trims and they just used regular cans with eyeballs. Our crew does contact us with questions but on your job they were contacting us to get an OK to go ahead with the speaker wire because it was not on the original quote. We always prefer our crews to contact us with any questions to avoid mistakes. We do hope to work with you again on any project that you need a licesned, bonded and insured contractor to complete.

Great. I called for an estimate ahead of time and was told "no more than $280", and the final bill was $315, but not a big deal. We were scheduled for Wed., but he called that morning and had to reschedule for Thurs.- again, not a big deal. They were professional and very nice. Some of the breakers weren't flipped back on when they were done because I came in my house and the lights wouldn't turn on, but I called, and he walked me through how to do that- again, a minor thing. I would definitely use them again.

The power lines to the house were pulled away from a big tree limb that had fallen onto it from a recent windstorm. I tried several companies from the Angies list to provide a quote - Bocha Electrical was the only company that followed up on my request. They were very responsive; they came out the next morning to make the repair. They did an excellent job in a timely manner. I would definitely use them again.

They came out when they said they would. I found a couple things that weren't right and they came out the next day and repaired it right away. They had to purchase a lot of products for us, their charges were very reasonable.

Excellent company! We were pleased from start to finish. The owner came out and gave us a detailed (free) estimate - detailing what needed to be done and what was optional. He provided us with a detailed written estimate within 2 days. They were able to begin work within a week. The two men who worked on our house were friendly, professional, and competent. They did excellent work, cleaning up after themselves every day. At the end of the project, the owner came back and looked at the work before we paid. They scheduled the inspection (by the city) for us. I cannot say enough good things about this company! Highly recommend!
Description of Work: We have an old home (built in 1927) that had a 100amp electric box and quite a bit of active knob-and-tube wiring. They upgraded the electric box to a 200amp box. They replaced all knob-and-tube wiring with new wiring.

We purchased a ceiling fan about a year ago, but we don't have a ladder high enough for our 12-foot ceiling. When we finally decided to call someone to install it, we got a bid from Mr. Electric for $275 - way too much! I called Bocha Electric and found out that they charge by the hour, and it would probably be about an hour to hang the fan. I scheduled an appointment for November. When my husband looked at the fan we had bought, he realized that we needed to order a couple of parts, so I canceled the appointment and promptly forgot who I had called. About a month later, I got a follow-up call from Bocha asking if we still needed the service. I was very happy about the follow-up! We scheduled another appointment for December. Steve and Cary showed up about 5 minutes early and got right to work. They were very professional.

Dan was courteous, straightforward and knew his trade. We live in a 16 yr. old home that constantly tripped a circuit breaker with the slightest bit of dampness. Dan troubleshooted the problem to a breaker in the basement that was near a sump pump (which we never would have considered) as well as the one in the front half bath that the front outlets were associated with. Given the age of the home, we decided to have all outside outlets replaced, and Dan also put the insulated covered boxes over same (along with the repair of the breakers). We had one little problem when decorating outside where the breaker tripped again, but called Dan up on a late Sunday afternoon and he answered. Was right out on Monday and fixed the problem pronto. We would highly recommend Dan to anyone with electrical needs. A most well deserved A+++!!!
Description of Work: Outside electrical outlets replaced on 16 yr. old home with weatherproof covers and circuit breakers replaced in small 1/2 bath on main floor with the culprit circuit breaker sought out in basement relative to humidifier by sump pump.

Fabulous experience all the way around. The woman in the office was delightful and knew the right questions to ask. The electrician (owner) came out on Sunday! The problem was bigger than originally anticipated but he made sure to check everything and make sure that we were good to go. I would definitely recommend this firm to anyone.
Description of Work: Bad switch on the circuit board. Turns out there was also a problem with one of the outlets which he identified and fixed.

Came at appointed time to scope project and provided quote a few days later by email. I did not get another quote so it is difficult to judge price competiveness but it seemed fair for estimated hours. They respondied quickly to a couple of questions about the quote and scheduled work about a week out. On the scheduled they they called early in the morning to ask if they could reschedule because an emergency job had come up at an apartment complex. We agreed to reschedule for following week. Two electricians showed up shortly after 8:00 and completed the job in about 6 hours. Overall the job was well done. They had to make several holes in the wall, but saved the peices of drywall so they could be replaced before the backsplash was installed. Tile contractor seemed a little suprised at the size and number of holes, but I was able to repair and it did not cause a problem when tile was installed.

Dan was very prompt and thorough from start to finish.We identified my problem areas and he emailed an estimate.His estimate was very competitive.The day the work was performed,Dan brought in a crew that was focused and efficient.All the work was completed in a half a day. The county inspector came out the following day and approved all the work.A very good experience.

1. In October 2008 Daniel G. Nolan (BoCha Elec.) was hired to buy and install a whole house generator with a whole house transfer switch for the safety of my ailing 92 year old Mother-in-Law. 2. On October 28, 2008, Check #1011 was issued in advance to Mr. Nolan (at his request) to expedite the purchase of the above components for installation. 3. The generator delivered in November 2008 was too small and not what I had ordered and if installed would be in violation of Columbus City Code: NFC 702.5b. And worse, the transfer switch didn't arrive until February 3, 2009. 4. Mr. Nolan acknowledged his mistake and promised to do an exchange for the proper size generator for an expedited installation. 5. However, Mr. Nolan’s has been stalling ever since, his many assurances, guarantees and promises have been false, misleading and non productive. 6. Mr. Nolan has breached our contract and is negligent in every respect. 7. I am seeking a complete refund of my money. ($4332.00) I would never suspect a professional licensed electrician such as Mr. Nolan to make such a negligent mistake and then refuse to rectify it or refund my money. The health of my 92 year old Mother-in-Law remains at risk because of the actions/inactions of Mr. Nolan.
Description of Work: Mr. Nolan was hired to purchase and install a whole house generator and whole house transfer switch to protect the health of my 92 year old Mother-in-Law. Mr. Nolan delivered a wrong generator in early November, 2008. The whole house transfer switch didn't arrive until February 3, 2009.(approx) The Generator he sold me is not what I ask for, it's to small. (insufficient) and cannot be installed without being in violation of Columbus City Code: NFC 702.5b.

We are contacting an attorney to sue this customer for slander. Please note in addition to the information below we have: 1. Proof that he was only charged for the generator - he has never been charged for installation 2. Proof provided by the supplier who will also testify on our behalf that per his/our request they investigated returning the generator but the member did not want to pay standard restocking shipping fees. Next we tried to work with the supplier to have them sell it and save the member these costs but this was also at a time of economic downturn for the country and thus after several weeks it did not sell so the member asked us to deliver all to him so he could sell it himself and he would be happy. This was 6 months ago. 3. We had not heard from the member since delivering all his product until about 2 weeks ago when he called to ask for an install. Based on previous threats made by the member over the generator purchase we thought it was best to not install the generator but decided to quote him anyway but could never reach him again and now he is attempting to slander us. Below is information as it was given to the BBB in regard to the member's complaint: 1. The member asked me to review his homes needs for an electrical backup generator. I advised him that for most homes we use a 10-12 KW backup generator for power outages. I let him know that the 12KW was 50 amps of power 240 V. At that time he advised me that he might have other friends that might want generators also and we discussed that if we could get more generators at one time the price could come down. We agreed to run an ad to look for additional customers ourselves to assist. We did this and can provide Craigslist information as proof. 2. After waiting about 30 days to attempt to find more customers, the member became anxious and was suddenly in a hurry to get his generator. We agreed to go ahead and order the generator through the supply company and charged him just for the generator, transfer switch and the battery - just the equipment. We did require the money up front as Loeb electric did also to order the generator. The generator had to be shipped because it's not a stocked item so there were shipping costs involved. 3. When the generator and transfer switch was received at the member's home he noticed the transfer switch was a circuit switch and he wanted a whole house switch. At that time we planned to obtain the new transfer switch that he requested. 4. The following week he called to complain that he felt the generator wasn't large enough for his house. I went to the house myself to check the normal operating conditions of the panel and found that it was pulling 28-32 Amps which would easily be handled by the 50 Amp generator. After this he turned on all power in the house, including 300 W spot lights plugged into outlets, his range and stove and every light in every bathroom his TV, entertainment center and we tested it again and he was at 53-58 amps. I then advised that under normal power outages you wouldn't normally turn on everything in the house and try to blow out your generator and he said "You don't know my family and they could turn on everything in the whole house under a power outage condition". 5. I then asked the member what he would like me to do since he had already agreed and paid for the equipment and didn't have an issue until it was at his house. He asked if we could return it to get a larger unit, I then advised him that there would be a restocking fee and shipping costs to do so. I also contact Loeb and asked what they could do and they said that they could put it up for resale if anyone wanted one to save the shipping and restocking costs. I then gave the member the options given by Loeb to either return it or allow them to sell it and save those costs if possible. After about 2 weeks the member called and said he wanted all the equipment back at his house so he could sell it and he would be happy. 6. I had been holding off at this point on getting the upgraded transfer switch as I had not wanted to get it if they were just going to sell the unit so I delivered that to the home so he would have it along with all the rest of his equipment. 7. He has only paid for his equipment, there was no charge for installation as he has not had the unit installed. 8. All equipment was in his possession by approximately January - so he's had the equipment approximately 6 months and now wants his money back when he had the opportunity to send it back and only pay restocking fees and shipping costs to get a larger unit - which is normal on all large items. In addition, 2 weeks ago, he called to ask for a quote for us to install it. Against our better judgment we told him we needed time to get the prices and would get back to him with a quote. Two days later we tried to call back and have tried to call twice since then and he never answers. We have repeatedly done everything we can to please this customer and feel as though working with him to either install his generator or do anything further is just asking for more problems as he's not been reasonable. And about the code issue, the initial equipment that was delivered was to code, he decided he wanted a whole house transfer switch and decided he didn't want a permit as we advised him that the new 2008 code (which didn't go into effect until November 2008) changed the code. - Dan Nolan, Owner

Initial scheduled date was postponed due to illness of the electrician. Scheduled second date for 3 days later. The guys showed up on time and ready to get started. They assessed the work and set up. I stayed out of the way. They had to get a part for the lighting, but returned and completed the work in the estimated stated time. Professional in their work ethics, but down to earth and did not hesitate to answer my questions.

Service was great. Called Dan on Thursday morning and let him know what needed to be done. He gave me an estimate over the phone and scheduled us for the next day (could have been done that day, but I decided to wait until the next day). His crew showed up an hour late, but this was not their fault - there was an accident on the highway and they called right away to let me know that they would be late. They were done within an hour, and cleaned up all of the trash. They also tested the outlets for me and made sure everything was done that I needed. Will definitely use again if we need any electrical work done!
