"If we can't find it, let's create it", was the catalyst for the concept of Cutting Edge Countertops, Inc. The three founders took their years of experience and knowledge from family owned businesses and created Cutting Edge Countertops, Inc.
In April of 2006, the company moved into their showroom and fabrication facility, which includes a full slab indoor viewing area, in Perrysburg, Ohio. Since then, the company has grown to become a large-scale industry leader, expanding on the foundation of a solid business model, providing residential and commercial customers the products and services they have come to desire.
My experience with Cutting Edge Countertops has been quite a disappointment. I do not recommend them, especially for any large custom work on an estate home. Their installers did an abysmal and sloppy job. Cutting Edge Countertops even made a mistake in measuring and fabricating one of the quartz pieces which caused another delay in installation. They left a huge mess in my kitchen and outside. They did a horrific hack job in cutting out the custom support for one of our islands. They had no template for cutting out the hole for the sink they were supposed to install. They did not measure one of my pieces correctly and made a poor cut onsite so they had to take it back to get re-fabricated which caused yet another 2 weeks delay. They also rushed their work and left one of my island pieces unleveled and I alerted the management about this but they refused to acknowledge it. In less than 2 weeks, that same island countertop of concern was loose and shifted when a guest of mine leaned on it. The countertop moved more than 1.5 inches. Cutting Edge Countertops did not install the island countertop correctly, safely, and securely. When they are onsite, they do not look at the job holistically and notify you about any issues. On their second visit to install, the workers did not call out and suggested that the supporting top to be trimmed back a few inches. The installers placed and glued a quartz countertop section but allowed the underlying support to show. I had to spend additional time and money to correct and trim back the wood support so that it would not show. This unnecessary work could have been avoided if their installers had enough intelligence to see this and simply ask to trim back to ensure a good and beautiful end result. If you value quality work and craftsmanship do not expect to get that kind of service from this company. Their sales manager, David S., told me I should not worry about the bad-cutting job their workers did because the countertop would hide their hack job. I have a beautiful old mansion that I am renovating and I take pride in making sure that the craftsmanship from the inside, underside, and outside of my cabinets and kitchen look beautiful. I was taken aback by their lack of empathy and respect for my home. It was like telling me that I should not worry if they installed bad rusty pipes and old hoses in my vintage classic Mercedes car because when I closed the hood no one would see the flaws. I asked for them to make it right through either a discount or working with me to give me a tabletop using the damaged now remnant piece from their shoddy work. The manager flat out said no. Cutting Edge Countertops want your money upfront before they perform and install the countertops. They will attempt to fix an issue but they will not go above and beyond to make you a satisfied customer. They do not provide quality work. Again I stress do not work with this company save yourself headache and stress stay away from Cutting Edge Countertops.

CEC was terrific to work with. Their estimate based upon our drawing was within a few dollars of the actual cost based upon their measurements. Because of the placement of our sink, we hadn't yet decided the placement of the faucet. They offered to drill the faucet hole as part of installation. They were right on schedule for the measuring and the installation and were extremely professional and helpful. During the installation, they took extreme care with the counters - and everything else in the house. When they left, the kitchen was spotless. They also had great recommendations for what to use to address minor scratches in the soap stone. We couldn't be happier! We definitely recommend them - the customer service, quality and price are a winning combination.
Description of Work: We selected a firm to do new kitchen counter tops based upon a general estimate of cost range for the material we were considering. Upon selection of the material (which was within the cost range), we were shocked at the total cost for fabrication and rejected their estimate. This left us without a fabricator and only 3 weeks to find a replacement AND have the counters installed. Cutting Edge Countertops was the first to respond with an estimate and they had an opening for measuring the kitchen within the time frame, so we selected them. They installed our new soap stone counter tops for us and met our deadline.

Our purchase experience was great, we had worked with Beth Poll and received excellent help and support in making our choice of the quartz countertops. Beth is extremely knowledgeable about their products and gave us some really good pointers on what to look for in picking the floor tile to match the countertops, since we had decided to update our kitchen. Also to note that Cutting Edge had a great selection of material, whether granite or quartz on the premises to choose from. Cutting edge set-up a time to come out and measure and was very prompt and very professional. I cannot say enough about the accuracy and fabrication of the countertops. They were right on. The countertops fit like a glove. We had set up a time for Cutting Edge to come out and install the countertops and again the guys were right on time (actually a few minutes early, but that was a good thing) and very professional. They had the countertops installed, leveled and looking fantastic in a short time. And like I mentioned before the countertops fit perfect up against the walls. Overall, the product and professionalism of Cutting Edge was great. Their name ?Cutting Edge? fits them well. They are on the cutting edge of technology & fabrication. We received a great product at a reasonable price and great service. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them

Our pre-purchase experience was good, and we received excellent support and help in making our choices. After finalizing our choices, we were supposed to get pictures of our granite choices laid out over the design templates, so we could visualize our yet to be installed countertops. This happened for our kitchen, but not for the bathroom. We set up an install date, and were provided a delivery window of 8:30 ? 9 when the installers would arrive (first appointment of the day). When it was a ½ hour later than the window provided, we called and were told that another job had been scheduled ahead of ours at the last minute. It was only a 1 ½ hour delay after the provided window, but it would have been nice to have received a call. When the installers did arrive, we found the bathroom backsplashes had not been loaded. We agreed to wait on them for a week when the kitchen backsplashes (a planned second phase) would be installed. The installers were pleasant, courteous and professional, and did an excellent job. The installation of the kitchen backsplashes was set up and a delivery time window of 8:30 - 9 was given. This time we did get a call from our salesperson about 9:15 to tell us there was a problem with our order and delivery would be delayed until sometime later that afternoon. We asked for a call back about a new delivery time with as much lead time as possible, as we had to re-arrange schedules due to the last minute change. We did get a call about 2PM from the install crew telling us they would be to our house in about 10 minutes. As before, the install crew gets high marks. We left a message with our salesperson expressing our disappointment that we had not been updated, and asking about a possible price reduction because I had lost an entire work day instead of just a few hours. We never got a return call. Overall, the product and professionalism of Cutting Edge was great. We received a quality product at a reasonable price. We do feel they fell down on communication and organization during the delivery phase, and spoiled an otherwise near perfect experience.

Overall, this is a great company. One small issue is that their stock is limited and so I spent time at other places in toledo and michigan finding the material I wanted. That said, it is great that they do have relationships with other suppliers so that the customer is not limited to their stock....and my experience with the suppliers was also very pleasant. My initial salesperson was not very responsive or knowledgable....and she is not there anymore, as they realized this. The remainder of the staff is great. Very pleasant and knowledgable. They have a great reputation, and I can see why. They are very upfront with the limitations of each type of natural stone, to make sure that you get one that fits your lifestyle. There was a small mistake made in that somehow my counters get not get coated with sealer at the factory....but they were out within a couple of days to seal them. I wasn't quite sure how to give them a grade on price; I'm sure there is cheaper, but I think this is one of those areas in which you get what you pay for. I received a lifetime warranty. I think they were in the normal range, based on the prices I saw in michigan. If I have one complaint, it's that I had to find someone else to remove and dispose of my old granite; they refused to do it, and it's not easy to find someone. I was hoping to have them recut the old ones for my mom's kitchen but the price they quoted was almost the price of new! The actual experience of buying the new ones was great. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

The original appointment made to come to our home to do the measurements for the counter was delayed by the company because of illness. They were a little late that day informing us of that problem which caused us to be waiting for them without knowing about the problem. The next date for measuring was prompt. The company scheduled installation of the counter so that other work on our kitchen would not be delayed. The workmen doing the installation were prompt and pleasant and answered all question that we had. The counter is beautiful!
Description of Work: Went to the company location to see the granite available for our new kitchen counter. We toured the factory and with help from a representative selected the granite we liked. Also selected the type of edging and the sink that would be installed with the counter. The company had many patterns of granite available.

At first, everyone was very pleasant. Then the problems began. Paper work was not updated to coordinate with confirmed granite changes. I was blamed for the confusion because I upgraded to a different granite slab. I paid half of the cost of the countertops to secure the pieces and the allocation of each pattern. One of my granite pieces was sold and I was cut a piece not picked by me. I then checked on allocation of the remaining granite pieces and found that my patterns were placed on parts of the granite slab and a completely different slab not picked by me. This snafu was corrected by my insistence. This company uses block pricing and tried to double charge me for granite already purchased. I was told I just didn't understand the standard way of billing for "block pricing". In all the contracts I was sent to approve, "tax was included" as part of the price. The final bills had tax added. The "tax problem" was explained many different ways; computer problems, only applies for granite installed by the company not by my builder, and "of course, you have to pay tax!" I refused to pay the tax. All these problems led to the controller calling me and blaming me for being a "problem customer". Each time a problem occurred, it was a puzzlement to them or my fault! These unfortunate problems could be easily eliminated by careful paperwork, slab labeling of chosen pattern allocation. The granite is gorgeous, but not worth the hassle!!!!!!!!!!! Unless you want to spend days checking and rechecking on your granite choices and your paperwork to ensure you are not overcharged.
