John Desborough and his team are and always will be our HEROES! There are not enough words to explain what this man and his knowledgeable team did to SAVE our large remodel project, help us avoid a potential lawsuit and make it possible to serve our traditional Christmas dinner for 35 family members last year! Extremely knowledgeable, intense, focused, quality oriented, HARD WORKING perfectionists are only a few words to describe this team of dedicated professionals. As a Quality Manager for a large electronics distributor, process, accuracy and meeting job deadlines were all very important to us. Desborough Construction was called in TO SAVE a large remodel project with another builder that was severely behind and had several quality concerns. They installed a heated stone floor in our large kitchen, hallway, first floor bathroom and laundry room. We (the builder, my husband and I) were so impressed, they were also asked to tear out and retile (for 3rd time!!) our foyer and complete the master and two spare bathrooms. Along the way they helped with drywall, plumbing and a variety of other smaller problems. Our contract was signed June 2017 with another builder recommended to us, with a request to be completed 1st week in December... as we serve around 35 family members for Christmas every year. By Thanksgiving... only our foyer was tiled (parts of it twice!) and looked awful, all seven rooms involved in this remodel were covered in thick dust, barely drywalled, uneven plywood flooring... an absolute disaster! The kitchen, laundry and hallway flooring had not been started and the custom cabinets had been delivered the end of September! Without floors? We could not proceed. Our house was COMPLETELY in shambles... Imagine every unremodeled square inch of your house stacked 6-7' high with boxes, furniture, stuff all covered in thick dust... It was Thanksgiving. :*( I had seen John's Review on Angie's list and he also came recommended by Cleveland Tile. I contacted him and he immediately responded... met with our builder and was given the green light. LONG DAYS, WEEKENDS, intensity, professionalism, focus like I have not seen in years began. He would not compromise with our builder on quality. All processes were to HIS standards. This team of four dug in... kept us informed every step, met every timeline and allowing us within 2 weeks to have cabinets installed in three areas. Then they tore out and retiled the foyer and 1st floor bath for the third time Dec 22nd, finishing Christmas Eve, fixing our builders mess. The family pitched in and Christmas was saved! After the holidays, they began work on the master and spare bathroom floors and showers. They are beautiful! Desborough Construction saved our project, Christmas and probably a lawsuit!! My house turned 20 years old this year and was in the need of some serious updating. To address the need my wife and I decided to replace our kitchen and all of our first floor ceramic tile. We spent a lot of time reviewing contractor options before embarking on such an ambitious project. We evaluated all the big box stores and a handful of local contractors. After we putting in the work we selected Desborough Construction. John was responsive during the quoting process and provided a very detailed and competitive quote, John personally came to our house and determined the scope of our project. He provided a quote in less than a week for us to review. When we had questions about the work he responded quickly via email and text. His team showed up on time and ready to work on the first day of demolition. They worked long hours for the first week to reduce the impact this remodel was having on our lives. They removed 750 ft2 of ceramic tile in the first day alone. At the end of each working day his team took their time to clean up our house and make it safe for our thee kids to run around again. By the end of week one we had a new tile floor and full functionality of our laundry room, bathroom, and lower level. John took care of all the kitchen work and scheduling for us. He coordinated the cabinet delivery and counter top installation. He was on site when both arrived and saved me the need to use vacation days. The attention to detail and quality of work was excellent. They did not cut corners or take the easy way out. If it took extra time to get a better product then John's team took the time. He even created a custom drawer to go under our cooktop rather than just voiding the draw and moving on. We ended up finishing the entire project on time and on budget. John did't pack up his tools until my wife and I were 100% satisfied. So in conclusion if you need remodeling done at your home and want the best quality work completed, great communication, and someone who always shows up on time you should give John and his team a call. You will not be disappointed,

I hired John because of the awesome job he did on my bathroom two years ago and I wasn't disappointed. John started work when he said he would and he himself was present each day his staff was at the house. John cares about the quality of the finished product and did several "little things", that weren't specifically included in the estimate, because he wanted the finished product to look great. He takes great pride in his work and I would highly recommend him to anyone considering work around their home.

Quality and finish for tiling and molding in upstairs bathroom was excellent. The first floor job was a large area and we used long planks (approx 33") for this job. For the most part, they did an excellent job with this installation. However there are about a half dozen places where the tile noticeably sticks up at one end. It may be that I just notice these things because it's my home but my wife observed the same thing (I didn't point out what I saw) when I asked her to look at it. I did not point out to her what I saw before she looked at it. They did replace the tiles but the result was the same. I was told the problem was either the tiles themselves were warped or that it was hard to get everything to lie flush due to the length of the tile. Pricewise they were not the highest or the lowest that we were quoted but we were comfortable with it. John Desborough, the owner, was great to work with. Very professional and followed up on all of our requests. They even replaced a leaky shut off valve and re-drywalled a portion of the wall that had to be cut in order to do so for a very small cost. Finally, while dealing with John was a pleasure, there was one member of his crew needs work on his interactions with customers. Not the most professional guy in the world. All in all, a very good company to deal with and I would definitely use them again.

John responded to my request to come out and give me a quote for a kitchen within 24 hours, and was there right when he said he would be just a couple days later. During the meeting for the estimate he was very attentive to our ideas for the design and had numerous suggestions that were really helpful to us in deciding what exactly we wanted in our new kitchen. He referred us to Erica Otto at Home Depot to choose our finishes and materials who was a huge help as well, and John always kept the lines of communication open for any questions we had along the way, (which we had many). From the very first day of the remodel, John and his crew arrived right on time and wasted no time getting the project underway. This was a big remodel that dramatically changed the main living space of our home, but they always maintained an effort to make the process minimally intrusive to our day to day lives and to clean all the dust and debris each day. Each day of construction you could see large steps being made, and the speed and efficiency with which the crew worked was very impressive. John had originally told us that the project would likely take 8 weeks to complete, and it actually ended up being just a month beginning October 1st and ending November 1st, which of course made us very happy. About two weeks of that time was waiting for the counter tops to be fabricated, so the construction was only about 9 days. The kitchen turned out absolutely outstanding, and has vastly improved our home and our lives. Everyone who has come to see it has been amazed with the results. Even my Grandpa who is an old school DIY type guy had nothing but praise, saying "these guys are master craftsmen!". John has also followed up to make sure everything is well with the kitchen. He even had one of his terrific crew members, Nate, come out to help me with a minor problem I was having with one of the appliances even though it should have been Home Depot's issue, which alleviated a lot of hassle was greatly appreciated. It was a pleasure working with John, Nate, Rob, Paul and Scott. We've had a number of contractors do work on our home over the years and Desborough Construction Inc.'s efficiency, communication, and responsiveness throughout the project was truly second to none. Being a young family, having our home improved in this way really means the world to us. You guys did a beautiful job and we hope to work with you again on another project in the future!

John and his crew previously remodeled our master bathroom, so we knew we wanted to hire them again to remodel our guest bathroom. As with the first time, John was easy to work with and was flexible to meet our schedules. He always answered my questions and emails quickly, so I always knew what was going on with the job. His estimate was itemized and included an allowance for each material as a placeholder. Although the final cost would depend on what materials I chose, it was nice to have a starting budget in mind. John and his crew installed recessed lights, tiled the floor, installed a new tub, tiled the shower walls, installed a new vanity, tiled wainscoting around the room, and installed a new toilet. The crew worked all day throughout the duration of the project to minimize the end-to-end duration of the project. The work looks great and they cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. At this same time, we hired John to install recessed lights in our kitchen. The work was done quickly and also looks great. I would definitely hire John again for any future remodel projects.

From the start, it was like talking to a friend. I received my quote promptly and he was ready to set an appointment. Due to medical issues beyond my control, I notified him there would be a delay. He was very understanding and told me to notify him when I was ready. I notified him when the medical issues were over and told him my crazy schedule for times available. He scheduled an appointment promptly and arrived as agreed. When he was done, he helped with a couple little things that takes 2 people to do at no extra charge. (Just like a friend.) He's very easy to talk to and he's very willing to share his knowledge in regard to your plans. I highly recommend him and will be using him again myself in the near future.

Went very well. Very responsive and a good communicator. I was able to get a quote within a day of calling in. They came out the next week to do the work. He covered all the details and provided an accurate break down of costs and time it would take to complete the work. It's hard to find contractors who call you back, come out when they say they are coming, AND get the job done quickly and cleanly. Desborough managed to do all of that and more. If you are looking for someone who is courteous and responsive look no further. Highly recommended.

The work was excellent. The area was left very clean. The men were on time and friendly. We will be using them for another project soon. The work took 8 hours. That included the couple of trips to pickup parts that wee needed.

John Desborough and his team of professionals remodeled my bathroom to my exact specifications. I wanted custom cabinets- which were made to surpass my high standards. I had custom shower glass, custom tile work for my shower shelves, and custom vanity mirror. They also installed heated floors. The tiling itself is top notch, even and symmetrical. The crew was respectful, and always cleaned up at days end to minimize the dust and dirt a remodel brings. John is easily accessible via text and consistently texted photos of ongoing progress or questions to me. This is the third time I have hired this company and the third time that I would rate them as 5 stars. John is a consummate profession who provides quality work and beautiful end results.

In general the effort went very smooth. In summary the work was top notch and my wife and I were extremely pleased with the results. The overall time to completion was about 6 weeks in which a good portion of that was waiting to get countertops measured and manufactured. This was right on target from John's estimates. The remodel was worth the wait. Anybody seriously looking into this type of work would be doing themselves a favor by talking with John. Highly recommended!! Highlights: Clean: John employs a couple of huge air filters to minimize the amount of dust. In addition to taping off the work area from the rest of the house the work kept the other portions of the house from looking like a construction zone. Any construction debris was always cleared from the site before they left for the evening. Vacuuming as much dust as possible also kept us from tracking this into other parts of the house. Prompt: John would always give us a day to day overview of his work and when they would show up. If there was any deviation from this he would contact us as soon as this was known. Greatly appreciated for sure... Responsible: it is worth noting that in a couple of circumstances where there was a communication issue that John took responsibility for setting things right. There was removal of an old intercomm system that my wife used for background music. This was mistakenly taken out. John took it upon himself to get a replacement unit (not to mention the time and effort to hook it up). The other issue was in the type of thresholds that were installed. We assumed they would be of a certain width. Once we discussed this with John and once we agreed on the size he ripped out the incorrect thresholds and installed the new ones. Again... very much appreciated. Professional: there were many times I would catch banter with John and Co and would over hear efforts to always ensure that whatever they were working on was done in the most professional way possible. Once might say they worked on our kitchen remodel as if it were their own. John also was a great resource for getting ideas that we had and turning them into reality. If he thought we were doing something that did not match with the rest of the design he would respectfully offer his opinion. All in all this made our remodeling effort more successful. On Target: John was spot on (probably a little ahead of his initial schedule) with the time to completion. Price (btw... very reasonable in of itself!) was also on target. The only increases were when we decided we wanted to upgrade a material outside of the original estimate. Quality: the kitchen came out fantastic. This was in no small part to John's original recommendations in conjunction with our requirements. Nothing slipshod in his team's works! I cannot recall any significant issue with having to redo any portion of their work. Bravo! I can safely say that John is one of the easiest contractors I have worked with... period. He rarely gets flustered and bends over backwards to get things done correctly. We have used John over the years for our bathroom remodeling, other general work in side of our house as well as the kitchen remodeling effort. We have another remodeling project planned for our family room and John is going to be top on the list for overseeing it. Based on these experiences I would highly recommend talking with John and considering him and his team for performing any remodeling work. The combination of quality work at a competitive price made for a winning combination. Thanks to John, Nate and Aaron for taking our ideas and turning them into reality! The project went very well. I met with John a couple of times for design planning and measurements before the work started. This was the first time that I had been involved in a renovation/remodel and John was great with regard to answering questions, evaluating feasibility of what I wanted to do, suggesting alternatives and providing an excellent contact for design and selection of kitchen and bathroom cabinets, counters and fixtures. Once the work started, things progressed quickly and everything was done within the estimated timeline. The condo is in a high-rise and the building staff and neighbors were very complementary of the Desborough Construction team and their courtesy. Even though the condo was not occupied, it was left neat, clean and tidy at the end of the work day, as were the building’s common areas. John’s professionalism, organization and efficiency were exceptional. Communication was also excellent throughout. The remodel coincided with a busy time at work for me, but John’s flexibility in communicating by text and email, and leaving samples and notes for me to make selections later in the evening when I was more available kept the project on track, and allowed me to have direct input in all major decisions without causing delays. When we got towards the end of the project and the final details phase, John accommodated my limited availability for in-person meetings and walk-throughs, which I really appreciated. The quality of the work that John, Nate and Rob did is outstanding, and they clearly took a great deal of pride in it. John and Nate also made some excellent design and finishing suggestions that turned out great. The tile work, painting, custom closets, cabinet and fixture installation were all done beautifully and finished with nice attention to detail. I tend to notice little flaws (yes, I’m picky); there were very few to point out and anything that I did notice was addressed to my satisfaction and beyond. The work done by the electrical and plumbing subcontractors was also excellent. It was a big project, but the scope of work and costs were clearly explained in the estimates prior to starting the work. There was also ongoing communication when any changes were made, so there were no surprises. I got excellent value for what I paid, and it was well worth it for the quality of work and customer service that I received. I appreciate all the hard work that the team put in, and am very happy with how the space turned out. In summary, I had an exceptionally good experience with Desborough Construction and recommend them very highly. They are a busy group, but worth the wait to schedule in your job. If the occasion arises, it would be a pleasure to work with them again, and I would do it without hesitation.

This is the third remodeling job we've had done by John Desborough and his crew. That alone should tell you quite a bit. John is very easy to work with, is very helpful in the design process, and does quality work. I highly recommend Desborough Construction.

John, Nate and Rob did an outstanding job remodeling our master bathroom. They were very professional and hardworking. They easily handled unexpected problems with the shower as well as minor adjustments to the design during the process. We can't wait for them to start our guest bathroom.

This is second project for John, Nate and Rob. First was a downstairs bathroom in 2015. The quality and workmanship was as expected.

John and his crew of Nate and Rob did an excellent job again on our 4th and largest project together. While the house that we purchased built in the 80s was largely renovated, there were details that kept it from feeling like an up to date home. The interior doors were original hollow core plain doors, with old style trim. The second floor laundry was 30 years old as well. The foyer was a textured paint that also included the second floor hallway that required skim coating and sanding prior to repainting. While none of this work would be considered a major renovation, the actual scope of the carpentry and difficulty of painting meant that the project was going to be time-consuming and expensive. 5 weeks later, the house looks fantastic and feels like it was built yesterday. A few hiccups were encountered due to old and strange plumbing and electrical, but were taken care of without much fuss. And the painting, which was primarily done by Rob was excellent. It's a great group of guys who seem to like working with each other, and it shows in the quality of the work. I would never call John's invoices cheap, but I'm fully satisfied that I got my money's worth.

This was a very pleasant and stress-free experience. John and his crew are very professional and it was a pleasure having them at my home for a few weeks. They removed all debris each day and were careful to minimize disruption in the rest of the house. If you want a first class contractor for your project, and are willing to pay accordingly, then Desborough Construction is the organization you should call.
