Desborough Construction exceeded our expectations. We are very impressed with their craftsmanship and high level of customer service. They take pride in their work and really care about your satisfaction with the job. The remodel of our house was a large and difficult job with many challenges. John approached this job with a very positive attitude and went beyond what was expected to accommodate our wishes. He transformed our old, dark foreclosure property into a beautiful home we can be proud of. John is smart, talented, professional, well organized and a very nice person to work with. He has a good sense of humor that is essential during a large remodel. The members of his team work very well together and each of them has an area of expertise. Nate and his assistant Aaron did some beautiful finish carpentry work that was both creative and artistic. Nate is very talented and resourceful. Rob did a great job on our tile work and painting. Roman did some complicated electrical work in our older home. Erica from Home Depot is a very talented kitchen designer. She and John worked together to give our kitchen a custom look. There are pictures of our kitchen on the Desborough Construction facebook page. They left the work site clean and organized and were a pleasure to have in our home. They were very patient and really listened to us. John has an excellent reputation as a contractor and as a result his work is very much in demand. We had a large remodel and waited a few months for the work to begin. It was well worth the wait. We feel very lucky to have John as our contractor because this job had the potential to be a disaster in the hands of someone less skilled. We highly recommend John and hope to use his services again for our bathroom.

John was excellent, very professional. I ended up not using their services due to cost; I was able to find another contractor who installed the cabinets for much less. John actually was able to find a flaw in the kitchen design and pointed it out to us which saved us money and hassle. The estimate was free. I would definitely contact them in the future.

The design that he came up with was not along the lines of what I was looking for and what I had discussed with him before hand. His proposal included the full scope of work including painting and tile work that I was going to do myself. I felt he was not that interested in doing my work because it was not a full project. He was timely in coming out and seemed detailed in terms of collecting measurements but the end result I was not happy with.

The estimate was a bit high for our budget. The drawing "finished plans" were a sheet of paper and the attached estimate. Overall, for what we paid, we got a good start for our basement project.

We were looking for some unique ways to finish a basement - beyond dry wall and carpet. John met with us at our home one time. He spent about an hour with us and talked about the traditional ways we could remodel. We even showed him some different materials for consideration that he either didn't know about or wasn't comfortable exploring. A few weeks later he sent us drawings and an estimate for finishing the basement. It was not in line with our needs. We recognize we only paid $75, but we were expecting some out of the box thinking based on what we were looking to accomplish. John was professional and courteous.

We bought an Angies list big deal to have a custom designed bathroom plan, provided by Desborough construction. John showed up on time and spent well over an hour discussing our needs, and determined we really weren't in need of a custom design and refunded the original cost of the service. john later provided us a quote to meet our renovation needs. We are very impressed with his honesty and the extent to which he exceeded our expectations.

John has been terrific. My husband and I are expecting our first child and have been eager to get these things taken care of prior to the birth. The summer being a busy season for contractors and a recent bad experience with another contractor delayed us in finding someone who could accommodate our time frame. John was completely understanding of our sense of urgency, making time in between projects to fit us in, as well as being sensitive to the fact that we had recently been burned by a contractor- offering to make concessions to make us more comfortable with the contract. He was open to the few small changes we wanted to make to save money, informed us immediately of the change in plans when he opened up a wall and found pipes that would need to be rerouted, and worked with us to problem solve. On top of his professionalism and craftsmanship, he was a general pleasure to be around. We would definitely contact him again for future projects.

John is really fun to talk to. He understood all my crazy ideas and played with various ways to make them happen. He listened to all our problems with our current kitchen and made lots of suggestions for making things better. He also loved exploring some of the new materials I had been reading about, like glass countertops. He measured everything, gave us all kinds of advice about structure and lighting, and talked about the construction process. Soon after he left, he sent a large envelope with a complete set of design drawings from every angle, including looking down from the ceiling. He included a detailed quote, a large catalog of cabinet styles, and even a brochure on those glass countertops! When I pointed out that he had missed an important detail, he sent a whole new set of corrected drawings. I am still thinking about what I want and whether I can somehow do more with my kitchen, so I haven't proceeded with the work. But I will definitely expect to have him do the demolition and construction/installation when I decide exactly what I want. He gave me a strong feeling of confidence that it would be done well.

We plan on using the company in the future for the basement remodel. We were happy with the plans and his ideas for our project.

John and his crew implemented a pretty challenging (at least from our perspective) bathroom remodeling project very well. In a process John helped with many design decisions and was very cooperative and generous overall. We like our renewed bathroom very much.

John Desborough worked with us on design, advised us regarding materials, and coordinated with suppliers. He and his crew worked very hard, stayed on schedule, and did their best to minimize dust and dirt. They did the job in the time and at the cost quoted. They are very fussy about quality. Right from the beginning John was great to work with. Immediately I was comfortable with him and his attention to detail. I loved that his estimate was spelled out so we could see how much was spent on labor and materials and what each of our requested items would cost us. We were in a bit of a hurry to complete the basement and they kept to their promised timeline and had everything done. They kept everything tidy while working and even would change our air filters throughout construction. The work is terrific and we love the basement. Our built-ins were a request after they began framing and he willingly altered the plans to accomadate the request. He matched the trim and finishes in the basement to make it seem like the basement had been part of the original construction and not an add-on later. Everything looks high-end and fits in with our home. Everyone on his team was great to work with. My husband was out of town through all of the construction, and I felt very comfortable working with all of them. I would definitely have them come back again.

Initially, the gentleman was very responsive, but he didn't show up for our initial appointment and didn't call to inform me of this. When I called him, he explained that he couldn't show due to a family issue but would like to reschedule. I declined to do so, and he was very professional about it. Specifically, he told me that he understood and refunded my money within a week which I appreciated.

John came out and I loved him! Walked thru and looked at my various projects. Had great ideas, in fact, I'm using many of his ideas without him. He left Telling me that he'd have a quote for me in a few days but Unfortunately I never heard back. I called and texted several times and he replied a couple of times saying that the quite was "coming". And 6 weeks later, still never heard from him. I was certain he'd be the right guy for the job but obviously couldn't use him when he never got back to me. Good guy but not good customer service I'm afraid.

Unfortunately we did not proceed with our project. However, we would have been very comfortable proceeding with Desborough Construction had we done so.

John Desborough and his crew remodeled our kitchen last fall. We were so pleased we had him back to do our bathroom! The job entailed completely gutting the bathroom, installing new fixtures, cabinets, tile, flooring, etc. The job went smoothly from start to finish. John was very helpful in designing the tile work in the tub/shower and the backsplash for the countertop. We are very satisfied with the remodel and highly recommend John and his crew!

They were very nice, they offered to give me an estimate, but I didn’t use them, though I wanted to.

Desborough Construction is an awesome company! In one afternoon, the old patio steps were tore out and reconstructed. To the contractor, this was probably considered a small job, however, the attention to detail and customer service was large! This is the third time we've contracted Desborough and have been extremely satisfied with each completed project.

Design was ok. Was surprised that it largely employed a Home Depot design tool with HD printouts. Thought it might be something more professional. Design was fairly pedestrian so we ended up going with a more established Kitchen Remodel firm that had some better styling.

He came in and talked with me and then drew designs. When I saw the results, I didn't feel like he really listened to me all that well. The design was very basic. HIs estimate for redoing my basement was very, very high. He came in at $30,000 and the contractor I finally decided on did an excellent job for $21,000. I also felt like the contractor I went with really listened to me. On top of it all, I found out that all the other contractors did the design work for FREE when they presented me with an estimate! So I spent $75.00 for something others gave me at no charge.

It went extremely well. Everything went according to plan in budget as well as the allotted time for the job. They were always respectful to non construction parts of the home, cleaned up after every days work and were quick to give helpful suggestions and last minute changes. The work was also done carefully and professionally. John and his crew were a pleasure to work with, we are already planing future projects.

Desborough Const. was the best contractor I have ever worked with. He was professional in every way. He was clear about what we should expect. He was open to changes and suggestions you would inevitably have. His price was more than competitive. Additionally, he was very flexible, allowing time for me to do the work I needed to do (wiring, painting, working with other suppliers). Finally, and most important, the quality of the work done was second to none. My basement is truly the envy of the neighborhood. I would recommend him for any home improvement project.
