I say we didn't have a good experience with them. The gentleman was nice enough but the wait turn around was just kinda' like an automated. We were expecting to see some actual help in making some decisions and that's not what we got. Maybe our expectations were off, maybe weren't clear.

The representative from the firm never contacted me to performed the estimate. I gave him three weeks to see if the company would perform the estimate, however, no one did.

Overall the installation went great, although there was a lot of dust, we were very happy with the end product.

Desborough Construction completed everything that was requested to our satisfaction and on-time as promised. Desborough Construction performed all jobs with professionalism and courtesy. When jobs were completed, the work areas were cleaned to our satisfaction. We are extremely satisfied.

Mr. Desborough did a fine job of what he promised. He put a lot of time into the design for $50. He listened well to what we wanted and came as close as he could with the design. I thought he did a great job.

I would like to write a review regarding "A" rated service, but unfortunately I never received a call back to even explain the work I'd like to have done.

Contacted because of high ratings. I really felt like I could trust him. I was told he had to speak with his carpenter and that he would contact me by the end of the week........ it is now February and I still have not heard from him. I am not interested in chasing down contractors. I really did not want to write a review regarding this but after being frustrated by contractors not following up ... I decided I had to. The only thing I can think of is that maybe he did not possess the skills needed to do the job and instead of telling me that, just didn't call back. Not sure - wish he would have let me know.

It never happened. After a couple or so weeks later, I finally contacted him to get status of quote. He told me he was too busy and that I needed to look for someone else. Normally, I would be ok with that but with two young children, I had to reschedule an appointment to wait for him to show up (which he was running at least an hour late but gave last minute notice) and then to find out he doesn't even have time to do it. I hate that a contractor is overbooked and still like to waste people's time.

The project is complete and went very well. John came to the house to estimate the project. He made a rough sketch of the project requirements on his electronic tablet. He explained what would be done and asked questions to clarify/confirm what was needed. I explained that the project needed to completed in time for my Father's release from Rehab. John returned the initial estimate within a couple of days. We exchanged emails with links to product websites to make final product decisions. With the final estimate and a 50% deposit, John ordered the materials. The materials arrived within one week and the project was scheduled for the following week. The project was completed on time and within budget. All of the work was done within three business days as promised except for installation of the grab bars. This was because I requested that the grab bars be switched from stainless to chrome at the end of the project. John responded to my change request with great professionalism. Unlike some contractors, John did not try to change my mind or show any sign of frustration. John quickly identified alternate products, explained additional product costs, determined the anticipated delivery date, ordered the new grab bars and installed them immediately upon receipt. John and the entire crew were very polite and professional. They took great care of my parent's home in the process. They laid drop clothes from the front door to the project site each morning. At the end of each day, they removed the drop clothes, cleaned and vacuumed the entire area. John and his team take great care in their craftsmanship as evidenced by the quality of the final product. The shower is beautiful. It is clear that we have found John to be a trusted contractor. We have asked John to provide estimates for additional work. We look forward to working with Desborough Construction again.

I knew from the first evening I met John that he was going to be the right guy for my job. He had such great ideas about what I should do with the space. He was creative and passionate about the job from start to finish. This was, by far, the most professional and satisfying experience I've ever had with a contractor. He and his workers were the nicest, most polite guys and obviously cared about the quality of the job and, ultimately, my happiness with the final product. To say I'm happy doesn't do justice to John. I'm thrilled with my beautiful new family room and spend all of my time there now (and hate to leave the house!). I highly recommend Desborough Construction and plan to call on John when I'm ready to redesign my kitchen.

Because John thought this deal had been removed as a Big Deal offering, it took a couple of tries just to get him to call us back and schedule the apt. His estimate was professional and very thorough, but it was not any more than we received from other contractors giving us estimates on our kitchen - the other estimates were free. In the end, John's estimate came in about $20,000 higher than any other, so we did not use him for the remodel.

The project went flawlessly John started exactly when he said he was going to start and finished on time. We added a few additional projects to his list as we are going along and he readily accepted the challenge. Would definitely use John and his team again.

My project did not work out. Mr. Desborough attempted to schedule an appointment with me, but I could not accommodate him. He was very professional.

We had John come out and remodel a bathroom for us and we had a great experience. I'd break out our experience into 3 areas: 1. The Work - All of the work done was very fast and done with care and quality. A couple of examples: They ran into an issue early on where the vent fan was connected to our other bathroom during a previous project. They corrected this issue for us so that the two bathrooms had separate fan systems. The inlet in the shower provides a nice contrast and the suggestion to stagger the tiling worked out well in the end. 2. The People - John has a great group of people working for him. They were always on time and had good attitudes. One of them took time out to explain what was going on when he gave us updates. They came in on the weekends to accommodate our schedule to get the project done. 3. The Customer Service - John made sure the bathroom was done exactly how we wanted it. The planning that went in during the beginning of the process helped to deliver a product that my wife and I love!

John came out for a big deal I purchased for basement design plans. He was punctual, polite, and knowledgeable. The design plan (printed sheet of paper) he provided was a bit more basic than I expected, but I don't hold that against him because he spent plenty of time discussing options and explaining how things would be done. Ultimately I did not have him do the work. I expect he would have done great work, I just felt it wasn't the right match for what I wanted. I'd probably recommend contacting him if you're looking for premium work and are willing to pay for it. I went with a different contractor.

Fourteen years ago John Desborough remodel our family room and did all the update of woodwork in the whole house. He was on time all the time and completed the job in a timely matter. I wanted to do a Pergo floor in the kitchen and the first person I thought of was John. Him and his helper were very conscientious in getting the job done. It took them a day and half to do the job. Cleaned up after themselves and you would never know that you had workers there. You get want to pay for and with John & his team you get more than that. I would recommend his company Desborough Construstion 100%.

John and his crew did a great job. They completed all the work in both a quality and timely manner and were very professional in their work. They were careful to cover furniture in the living room to limit dust and did a complete cleanup when finished. The crew worked very hard to get all the work done in 5 days. The re-modelled bathroom looks great and my daughter and grandkids are very happy. I highly recommend Desborough Construction.

We had an excellent experience with Desborough Construction. John and his crew did a very good job, did exactly what we wanted and worked very quickly. He responded to my initial phone call within 24 hours, and he set up a time to come visit for an estimate. He provided a very detailed estimate, and he was flexible when we told him we wanted to save a little bit of money by doing some of the easy prep work ourselves. On the day of the project, John arrived on time and ready to work. He and his crew were polite and efficient. When John recognized that the moulding around the doorway was very unique, he used his ingenuity and experience to resolve the issue (using moulding from the inside of the closet to match the moulding on the outside and then using new moulding on the inside). John is very busy, so there was a little bit of a wait for him to take our project, but he was very clear about the timeline up front. It was definitely worth the wait. We are going to be redoing our kitchen soon, and we plan to ask John to submit a bid for the project.

They did not do remodel work for me.

John and his crew were absolutely professional. All of the work was done in the utmost of professionalism. The teardown of the paneling was done in one day and the clean up was terrific. Installation of the new drywall was so quick and professional. The installation of the flooring in the laundry room was done to perfection. My new cabinet in the bathroom is just beautiful as is the counter top and sink. My new kitchen faucet looks amazing and the work put into removing a double molding threshold from my dinette area to the hallway and creating and installing a much safer one is just perfect. I cannot speak highly enough of the work performed by John and his staff. I would recommend Desborough Construction Inc. to anyone looking for the perfect contractor and I plan on using them in the future!

It says on the site they'll do Stow / Summit County, but John says it is too far for him and the team.

After a week or so the disappointment started. I had not heard back from John so I called him and left a message requesting he call me back as he said he would. After approximately another week had passed I still had not heard from John. I left another message and told him I was perplexed and becoming increasingly unhappy that he did not have the courtesy to return my call even if he was not interested in completing my project which is obvious by now that he is not. As of today I have received no response from John. After reading the glowing reviews John has received I am totally mystified as to why I received such shabby treatment. If he was not interested in doing the work for me why not be professional and upfront about it. This is the second highly rated Angie's List contractor that has left me disappointed with failure to follow through.

The experience was excellent. This is our third project with John. He does wonderful work. He handles matters in a professional and timely manner. To date John created a wonderful living space from our basement with a bar area, TV area and room for my pool table. He also helped us update our kitchen. On this current project, John assisted in the design and offered useful suggestions. One issue arose regarding tile, that was solved immediately and to our satisfaction. The problem related to the materials. John's team had to redo work to fix the issue. There was no issue in resolving this matter. Throughout the whole process, John kept us well informed. I am happy to recommend him.

This is our second go around with John Desborough, being very pleased with the previous bathroom and bedroom renovation he had done about a year ago. The bathroom to be renovated, while perfectly serviceable, was of low quality with respect to the rest of the house, and we wanted to bring it up to par. He came out when it was convenient for us, and emailed an intemized estimate. Based on our first experience, we knew that John wasn't the cheapest, but the quality of the work was well worth it. He estimated less than 2 weeks for the reno. Payment was for materials cost up front (primarily the tub, vanity, and countertop), then half of the labor at the start of the renovation, and the remainder at completion. The work included custom vanity with carrara marble top, custom mirror, new tub, two shower niches, installation of carrara marble tile on the floor and shower, recentering of the light box, replacement bath fan with installation of a new switch, raising the shower head, moving a floor vent, repainting with two coats, and installation of all the fixtures (most of which we purchased ourselves during a sale at Restoration Hardware). We also picked up the tile ourselves at the Tile Shop, which extended to us John's usual contractors discount. The only thing not replaced was the toilet. Prior to starting they put tarps on all of the furniture in the adjoining bedroom, as well as tarps on the stairs where they were going to be walking. Demolition took about half a day, and started the bathtub and shower work the first day, with no time wasted. Every night, they vaccuumed and cleaned the work area, and showed us the work in progress. Any concerns were fixed the next day without any grumbling, including when the light fixture and mirror were initially installed too low. When it came to the shower tile, we specified a general pattern to be used, but nothing specific for the niches. The resulting design that they came up with made us very happy. The work progressed rapidly and would have been done earlier than the two weeks estimated, but was delayed an additional week because the marble countertop for the vanity wasn't ready yet. That being said, everything else was cleaned up, and the shower and toilet were functional during this time. Once the counter was in, Nate (one of the great guys working with John) came by the next day and finished the installation of the vanity faucet and drain. We are thrilled with the new bathroom! It looks fantastic, and their attention to detail shows. The tile is level and square. The grout lines are straight. The edges are sealed appropriately and cleanly. Also, whoever installed the original vanity had damaged the trim around a window trying to fit the corian counter. Prior to installation of the new vanity, John had this repaired even though I hadn't mentioned it to him at all. All the marble was sealed with 2 coats, again without prompting. The polished chrome remained unscratched. And everything was dusted off and fingerprint free. John Desborough and his crew are highly recommended, and I think you get every penny's worth out of these guys.
