He told me that some of my wood needed replaced before he could give me an estimate on painting my historical house. I appreciated his honesty.

Description of Work: Much more than just painting: historic preservation at its best! please read my review on Angie's List since there are many details. Once he paints your home, you will be extremely pleased with the results! He really knows what he is doing and he explains it to you very well so you understand and can make well informed decisions. He is really nice to work with also!

Tim recently painted my house and did an outstanding job. I am pretty particular about how my house looks, and the quality of work done on it. Tim far exceeded my expectations. I knew from the first time I met him, I had hired the right company. He and his crew were thorough on all aspects of the job, using high quality paints and performing meticulous preparation prior to final paint coats. And isn't that the most important part of a painting job -- the prep? I would highly recommend Tim Blower and his company, Precision Painting, for any of your painting needs. Tim takes pride in his work and is very customer oriented. You will not be disappointed with his work. Tim is now my "painting guy" and a friend for future painting projects.

Fantastic Painter & Restorative Painter! This was not just painting but restoring my home to it's original character! Hired Precision Painting (Tim Blower) to paint the outside of my 1940's aluminum sided, ranch style home with Craftsman details throughout the interior. TIm was already booked up for the outside season so in January of 2014 he started on my back entry way that had issues of peeling paint and the kitchen/dining room & bathroom ceilings that had water damage from a previous roof leak that was already repaired. The back hall was a combination of a cold area with latex paint having been painted over oil-based paint from many years gone by. Tim had to completely sand down all of the layers of paint to the plaster, skim coat all of the walls and ceiling with a product called durabond (cement product) to repair the walls & ceiling and then finally get to the painting. Painted the walls a sage green and white on the ceiling but the trim was a mix of dark stained doors with white woodworks. He first tried brown woodworks to match the doors but it was too dark so he repainted the doors and woodworks to white and it brighten up the space and looks wonderful! Then the kitchen/dining room ceiling. He repaired the plaster, skim coated with durabond and took care of a small mold issue. He painted the kitchen the same sage green walls with white ceilings as the back entry way and the woodworks white also (were previously painted white )--very beautiful for a kitchen! My windows in the house are original, wooden, true divided-light, single paned windows (have new exterior storms but will list more excellent news about an interior storm window on the bottom of this paragraph) with window weights that all of the cords had broken and the windows had to be propped up with dowel rods. Tim brought in an excellent worker (Tom Thorn, Tom Thorn Construction) to take the window casing apart, put in new cords and reattach the weights so the windows were operable once again! This was done in one day for 6 windows! I also have french style window over my kitchen sink that opens inward (lots of charm and character) that didn't shut easily or well. Tim readjusted the hinges, sanded the edges of the windowns and generally tinkered around with it to get it fully closing and operable! More function and more beauty! (Interior storm windows that are inexpensive and cut my heating bill by 50%, are easy to install and remove, didn't have to replace my beautiful original windows and you can't tell they are there: window inserts.com--800-983-1232.) We hadn't gotten to the bathroom yet and Tim feel in love with the details of this house and suggested more be done with it: painting throughout but most importantly the woodworks throughout the rest of the house: they were the original dark brown stain that was bubbling up that needed to be sanded and finished--hold on to your hats wood lovers! The stain was done improperly originally and some of the woods did not match, so after much deliberation, they were painted white--with an enamel finish and they look brand new and are super easy to clean (ask Tim for his many simple ways to keep all of his work looking like new)! Another problem for this house was that the original owner was a smoker and lived in this house for 70+ years--this lead to tar and nicotine bleeding through many layers of high quality primer which in the end, each door had to be painted 7 times--for my center hall with 7 doors times 7 coats on both sides is 144 doors in a 950 square foot house! (The doors are solid wood with 4 1/2" wood styles on top and sides and a 12"style on the bottom with original art deco hardware.) The doors were also hinge bound and he tinkered with that, too, to get the doors closing properly and so they wouldn't be taking off their own paint rubbing up against the door frame. Also, throughout my home are 6" baseboards and 4 1/2" window casings and door trim. They went through the same process as the doors. All of the walls in the bedrooms, living room, den and hall are a light tan with white ceilings. Then summer hit and it was time for the outside work: entire paint job. Took about 9 work days. The house had to be power washed (very challenging on a very shallow well but the neighbors pitched in their water), aluminum siding repaired (brought in a worker to do that), trim painted, cable/utility wires to be straightened, all windows and doors painted, new storm doors added to front and back (aluminum siding worker did that), shutters removed, cleaned/painted & put back up after body of house painted, windows and doors then covered and house spray painted (only for aluminum sided not wooden houses), window/door coverings removed and voila! A beautiful house! Lastly, the bathroom. With everything else looking so great, the decision was made to take out the plastic tub surround and put in tile, new vanity & sink, new flooring, lights and towel bars (original tub stayed and toilet was already new). Tim was very collaborative on figuring out the details of the bathroom and pretty much contracted the job--please do not ask him to do contracting--he was very good at it but does not enjoy the process at all. If you need that kind of work, too, he can find you someone to take that on! He did it as a favor. The bathroom now has tile (Tom Thorn, Tile installer) on two walls (one including the tub and behind the sink). used Golden Dog plumbing (also a great worker from Angie's List) for the new shower plumbing, new flooring and the list goes on. On a side note--check into a new tub before you ever call a bathtub covering system company--it is cheaper (I didn't say cheap--I said cheaper) and adds more value to your home. With light stone looking ceramic tile on the walls and white fixtures Tim chose a Meditteranean Blue (take peacock blue and and just a hit of green). and it looks great! It is a modern updated bathroom with a Shaker style cabinet, brushed nickel hardware, faux stone counter (looks real and great faux), faux wood floor (working very well so far and looks great--not enough floor height to put in tile) with updates to plumbing and hardware. When putting in the new flooring, the original woodwork around the floor had to be removed so we went to Terry Lumber (Peninsula, Ohio) wood working shop and found a very close match for the original 1940's woodwork.! A masterpiece designed and painted by Tim Blower--it is organic in all of the design elements so it is timeless and works great with the character of the rest of the house! There are still 2 more updates to happen: sand and refinish the hardwood floors throughout the house and new kitchen cabinets and layout. Tim Blower of Precision Painting will be doing the floors this summer and the touch ups after the kitchen updates. In conclusion, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TIM BLOWER, PRECISION PAINTING for your exterior or interior painting and/or restorative painting work! He is a pleasure to work with and does a fantastic job! There will be no one else ever painting my home again!

I would highly recommend Precision Painting of Hudson if you are looking to have your house painted. I was very pleased with the outstanding paint job Tim and his crew did on the exterior of my home. Tim is very knowledgeable about paints. He gave a complete and clear explanation of how the job was to be done. He used the best quality paints and helped me pick out the perfect colors to enhance my 1845 home. Before the job even started, he kept me up on when it was to start and through the job he kept me up on the status of what was to happen each day. Communication with Tim was excellent. Tim and his crew were very professional, courteous and respectful of my family and property. Every evening they cleaned up and put everything back in its place as if they were not even there. I personally enjoyed having them around. Tim and his crew were easy to talk with and a joy to be around. The finished product is just beautiful. When I pull in the yard and look at my house, I am so proud to think that this is my home. I have had several people walking by or even stopping in their cars to tell me how beautiful my home now looks. It is such a pleasure to hear these words from people I don?t even know. I am recommending Precision Painting to you without any hesitation. Tim is a perfectionist in painting and will provide you with the highest quality of work. I know that I will not use anyone else but his company in the future. Pat Chabot

Tim Blower (owner) and his team were able to transform my 3 bedrooms, bedroom closets, and bedroom doors to a better than new look. His professionalism and integrity are top notch. He takes pride in his work and values his reputation. The journeyman painters on his staff are very skillful and work very hard while on the job site. When the work was completed, Tim walked us through each room and went over all the work performed to make sure it was to our satisfaction. He exceeded our expectations and I have since recommend him to family and friends.

The experience was excellent. He didn't want to charge me, but I gave him a little bit just because I felt I should. He felt like it was a part of the original deal and it was his responsibility. I was impressed with his integrity. He did a good job.
