Description of Work: Bill and his crew refinished our hardwood floors, and did a great job! The floors were damaged in one area where there had been a water leak, and they did an excellent job in fixing (versus replacing) the wood. Bill is extremely friendly, and showed my husband how to touch up other woodwork in our house. Everything was done professionally, and beautifully!

Description of Work: We hired the ' The Floor Guy' to pull out the carpet in our living room and refinish the Hardwood floor underneath. They were very professional and courteous throughout the process, right from the time they inspected the area of floor that needed to be worked on till the time they completed the job. Both, on the day they started the work to the day they finished the work, they were really helpful in getting the things done over and beyond the scope of the job. For example, we needed to move the furniture in the living room to a storage area and they were very helpful and understanding of the situation and cooperated with us. At every step of the way, they explained what they were doing and what are our options. That was really helpful for us to make the right decisions. They were on time every time they said they will start the work on a particular day and were flexible to accommodate our schedule , if on a given day we had something else to do around the time they were doing the work at home. Overall, I will highly recommend them to anyone who are looking for a professional company to handle their floors and be rest assured that they won't be ripped off and get their money's worth.

Description of Work: Our home was built in 1910. The floors could not be sanded down anymore. Bill came and buffed them up and put a preservative on them. He also repaired several spots, which came out well.

Description of Work: Our hardwood flooring was damaged when a renovation required that our refrigerator be moved. The wheels of the refrigerator left deep grooves in about 14 boards. I needed to have the damaged boards cut out and replaced.

THE FLOOR GUY (BILL) CAME ON TIME FOR THE ESTIMATE, GOT DOWN TO FLOOR LEVEL, TOLD ME WHAT WAS POSSIBLE AND WROTE AN ESTIMATE. HE APPEARED ON TIME FOR THE JOB, DID ALL THE WORK AS EXPECTED OR BETTER AND CHARGED EXACTLY WHAT THE ESTIMATE SAID. THE FLOORS LOOK ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AND FRIENDS WHO SAW THEM BEFORE AND AFTER ARE AMAZED. I WOULD HIRE THIS MAN AGAIN (AND WILL) TO DO THE REST OF THE FLOORS IN MY HOUSE.

Description of Work: WE HAVE A LARGE GREAT ROOM AND ADJOINING HALLWAY WITH PRE-FINISHED, PEGGED HARDWOOD FLOOR THAT IS 28 YEARS OLD. THERE WERE 2 VINYL ENTRIES INTO THE ROOM THAT WE WANTED FILLED IN WITH WOOD TO MATCH THE EXISTING FLOOR. THE ORIGINAL FLOOR WAS DUE TO BE REFINISHED AS WELL. BILL SPECIAL ORDERED WOOD TO BE BEVELED AND PEGGED EXACTLY LIKE THE EXISTING FLOOR. HE TORE OUT THE VINYL AND SOME WOOD AS NECESSARY, THEN TOOTHED IN AND LAID THE NEW WOOD. NEXT, HE SANDED THE ENTIRE FLOOR, STAINED IT, AND APPLIED 3 COATS OF POLYURETHANE FINISH. HE ALSO SUGGESTED 2 OAK FLUSH MOUNT FLOOR VENTS WHICH HE STAINED AND FINISHED TO MATCH.

Description of Work: REFINISHED HARDWOOD FLOORS IN KITCHEN, BATH, & DINING ROOM. REMOVED OLD TILE FLOOR AND INSTALLED NEW HARDWOOD IN HALL AND ENTRANCE WAY. INSTALLED FIVE FLUSH MOUNT FLOOR VENTS.

($2200) JOB 2: BILL SCREENED THE FLOORS IN MY DINING ROOM AND MY DEN, AND THEN PUT ONE COAT OF POLY ON THEM. ($250)

Description of Work: BILL SHIPMAN, THE FLOOR GUY, INSTALLED HARDWOOD FLOOR (3/4 INCH RED-OAK, SELECT AND BETTER ) IN OUR KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM. OUR OLD FLOOR WAS DAMAGED DUE TO WATER LEAKS FROM BROKEN PIPES, SO BILL ALSO HAD TO REMOVE SOME OF THE OLD WOOD FLOOR. BILL ALSO INSTALLED FLOOR LEVEL (=FLUSH WITH THE FLOOR) HEATING VENT COVERS, WHICH ARE JUST GREAT, AND TOE-KICKS AROUND THE BASE OF THE CABINETS IN OUR KITCHEN.
