Mark Rodgers Construction

At first a woman named Anne returned my call and left a voice mail on I called back and she stated Mark was on vacation the week of Feburary 29th. I understood that. She told me Mark would be calling me when he was in my area to swing by for an estimate. Later that day and 3 more times during the week I received the same message from Anne again on my voice mail while at work. The constant voice mails at work were getting annoying so I finally called back and said, "Anne, we have already spoken." She had confused me with other customers. By late Thursday March 10th, A week after Mark's vacation, I still had not gotten a phone call back from Mark. Anne stated that maybe he would stop by on Saturday March 11th. I told Anne that if Mark wants to stop by on Saturday he needs to be calling me today to set that up for Saturday. Anne got really nasty and defensive and went back to the fact Mark was on vacation last week.. I had to say, ANNE! MARK WAS ON VACATION LAST WEEK AND I UNDERSTOOD THAT. THIS IS A NEW WEEK, STILL NO PHONE CALL. This place is unreliable. I reminded ANNE THAT I AM THE CUSTOMER. I AM NOT PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR A PROJECT FOR SOMEONE THAT WANTS ME TO JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO ACCOMMODATE THEIR SCHEDULE WITH SHORT NOTICE OF WHEN HE HAPPENS TO BE MY AREA. Anne takes terrible customer notes. My info was typed in an email and still she called me multiple times with the same message forgetting we already spoke. Bottom line. You get one chance to make a good first impression and this was awful. If you can't lock down an appointment time for an estimate then why would you want to do business with a place like this? I have notified my friends that referred us of this terrible experience so that they don't refer him anymore. Extremely unprofessional.

Marck came out to look at some concrete issues on a home we are planning to purchase. He was there early, extremely professional and very honest. Mark was very detailed in explaining what may have caused the damage, how the damage is not structural and ways we could DIY patch cosmetically. He did not try to sell services not needed or exaggerate the extent of the damage. Mark had worked on a few projects on older homes very similar to mine which had made him interested in actually researching the styles, craftsmanship and details about these older builds. He was full of knowledge, a pleasure to work with and I am very glad I called him. I am awaiting his written report shortly. I am very satisfied and would definitely consider working with him this coming year when we decide on plans to expand our front porch!

Message was sent via Angie's List email and they responded very promptly, they were very polite and were able to drop by the house in very short amount of time to measure and quote the project since it was outside in public area. Several quotes from other vendors later, I contacted them to set up a time to begin the project after I was satisfied they were a good fit for the work needing done. Their schedule was busy and they scheduled a time on their books about 3 wks out. I received a call the next week that they could come by and remove the sidewalk and frame that day since his crew was done with another project early and ours was a relatively small job. I did need to take a long lunch to get the initial start up payment to him but Mr Rodgers was very accommodating to my schedule and it was not a problem. When I came home that afternoon, the demo was complete and the forms were set, caution tape surrounded the project & Mr Rodgers notified me that he was waiting on the city to inspect. He was going to stop by next afternoon to see if the city had left their inspection tag. When I got home that day, the city had left their tag stapled onto the form and they were concerned about a few minor items. I called Mr Rodgers & read off the information on the city's inspection tag, he understood everything they had a concern with and didn't feel it was a problem to get the items corrected the next day. He called me the next afternoon and informed me the city has approved his corrections and they would most likely be out the next day or day after to pour. It was 2 days until the sidewalk was poured and I returned home that afternoon with the final payment check to find Mr Rodgers & his son just finishing up the last portion of the project & installing caution tape barrier. It was nice to get to meet him face to face and discuss the project. He & his son were very polite and they site was completely cleaned up after they finished the project. I did ask that he measure and provide a quote for a second concrete project my husband and I were considering, he measured the space and was to contact me with an estimate in a few days. I would highly recommend Mr Rodgers and his company and would definitely use their services again.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! Five stars out of five stars. This is what service should be like. I called the office and spoke with Anne, who was incredibly easy and NICE to talk to. Anne arranged to have Mark come out to the house to do preliminary measurements. Although Anne warned me that all work was running eight weeks behind schedule due to the weather earlier in the Summer, Mark was at my house within three days and the project was completed within two weeks. EVERY PART OF THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS PERFECT!

The person I talked with on the phone was always courteous and helpful. Mark came out and gave me an estimate on replacing some of the blocks affected on the city sidewalk in front of my house. Most likely, the biggest problem block was heaved up due to tree roots. though not entirely sure. Mark seemed professional and knowledgeable about the work, and I believe he is. We did not ultimately have him due the work, in part, because of a suggestion he made regarding an alternative solution. We ended up going with the alternative solution due to cost, but that was no reflection on him. I give high marks to Mark for steering us in another direction that probably suited our needs better, even though he know he might lose our business. I would definitely recommend to others needing new concrete work done.

The job was complicated because the existing apron was poured over another apron which increased the time allotted for removal and required the use of a jackhammer, which he had to drive back to his company to get (2 hours travel time, back and forth). By the time Mark and his assistant removed the old apron (which they hauled away) and built the form, it was too late to pour the concrete, so we had to delay a day. It rained the entire next day, so the concrete wasn't poured until the following day. What started out as a 4-5 hour job, became at least double that, plus the additional trips. Though none of these problems were in any way caused by Mark, he completed the work without complaint and never asked for additional money from his original quote. Mark is a perfectionist and treated me as if I were his best friend. The work he did was much better than I anticipated. I would not hesitate to recommend Mark Rodgers and would never think about hiring any one else for this type of project. He is the best!!!!

Awesome. Mark broke up the old concrete floor, put in gravel, and poured a new floor. He was friendly, on time, and remarkably neat. There was no splashed concrete on the walls or in the driveway. The cut lines are perfectly centered and straight. Perfect job. I would recommend Mark Rodgers Construction to anyone who wants a beautiful job.

I requested an estimate for repairing one of the steps to my front door as well as the sidewalk from the driveway, which had been damaged by winter weather. Mark was the only one of the people I contacted who told me that the step could only be patched, not rebuilt, and that the rest of my front stoop was sound. (Others had quoted several hundred dollars to "repair" the step.) He completely dug out and rebuilt the sidewalk, removing the annoying and useless step that had been at the end of the walk at the driveway (his recommendation). He also filled in what turned out to be a large hole under the step, which had contributed to the crumbling, The new sidewalk looks 100% better and has improved the appearance of the front of my house.

I contact Mark last fall for an estimate but it was too late to have my driveway installed due to cold weather. I agreed to have it done this spring but asked to be moved back until September. To my surprise, another customer needed to wait to have their drive done so my install date was moved up to August 13. Mark tore out my old drive , prepared for the concrete and poured my drive the next day! I was contacted and kept informed through the whole process. I would recommend and use him for any future work. He even gave me info on how to care for my new drive. Fantastic work!

I honestly could not believe there were any contractors with so much promptness, professionalism and so honest. Mr Rodgers explained to save a lot of money, I should call a Concrete Leveling Co. Which is exactly what I did. I had a question for Mr Rodgers so I called his Co and left a message on their answering machine. Mr Rodgers returned my call the same day and answered my concern. How can you possibly find a Contractor like Mr Rodgers? He had time for me even though I was not using his company!! I would highly recommend his Company if you need concrete work done. I should also mention I called a different concrete co before I called Mark Rodgers Concrete Company and they have NOT yet returned my call. Mark's Co returned my call the same day and Mr Rodgers came to my house 2 days later.

Project started later than anticipated and question arose on the sidewalk finish. An agreement was finally reached and project was completed.

This gentleman is as awesome as he is made out to be in the previous Angie's List reviews that led us to call him! His office responded immediately to our initial email and kept in contact until the point later in the week when Mark himself could come out to our home. Despite the fact that he would not profit, he advised us against replacing the steps and porch and instead gave us very specific recommendations for how they could be rehabbed. He took the time to explain his reasoning and gave us direct contact info for several vendors who could do ironwork to repair the existing railings. He gave us written notes with suggestions for sealing products and where to obtain them. We would definitely hire him in the future!

Mark and his wife AnnE were extremely friendly and professional and did excellent work!! I called about 11 contractors and only about 2 of them called me back. Mark came out several times, once in the pouring rain, to give estimates. He was on time, and his work is superb . I wish there was a category above "A" because he certainly deserves it. AnnE keeps everything running smoothly in the office and returns my calls within a day or less. Both are wonderful to work with. I have been very frustrated with other contractors. It was a relief to work with him. He went far above what was expected.

Mark and his crew were incredible. Arrived, got to work, finished the job quickly. Their work was excellent and even though this was an inside the house job, they left no mess. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Mark is top notch and very knowledgeable. If you need something done involving concrete, give him a call first.

On November 7, 2011, Mark Rodgers and his son, Joe Rodgers, tore up our front porch and made the frame for the new porch. They called for a cement truck that day but none was available, probably because it was an unusually warm and sunny day for November. On November 8, 2011, we had another warm, sunny day and again, no cement trucks were available. I don?t know why Mark couldn?t have called ahead for a truck. On November 9, 2011, we had a rainy and cool day, and of course, this time a cement truck was available. There was a light drizzle while Mark and Joe worked. When they were done pouring the cement, they covered the porch with plastic. However, they didn?t tie it down so part of it blew off the porch, exposing about a third of the newly poured cement to the rain. Mark Rodgers told me that the porch would turn white about a month after pouring it. However, it remained a light brownish-gray and the areas where the cement had been exposed to the rain were darker than the other areas. I called Mark Rodgers twice within the next 6 months because the cement wasn?t turning white. He sent his son, Joe, to come out both times and Joe said that the cement just needed more time. The porch finally turned white about a year after pouring it. In the spring of 2012, Joe Rodgers power-washed and sealed the porch and the walkway. Mark Rodgers Construction does not provide this service, so Joe offered to do it as a side job and the check was made out to Joe Rodgers. During the winter of 2011/2012, we used no salt on the front porch. During the winter of 2012/2013, a small amount of salt was used about 3 times. The porch began to crumble where the salt had been put down. I called Mark Rodgers and he came out and said that the salt had caused the crumbling and that we were never supposed to use salt on the porch. However, we have always used salt on our porches and they have never crumbled like this one did. Plus the city and local businesses always use salt on their walkways, steps, and porches and they never look like our porch did. During the winter of 2013/2014, we used no salt. Instead, we bought an ice carpet to lay over the ice. However, it didn?t work well and fell apart, so we discarded it. During the winter of 2014/2015, we used ?Ice Melter?, a less harsh product than rock salt. We used it frequently because we were tired of having an icy porch that was a danger to anyone who came to the door. As a result, the top of the whole porch has crumbled. On April 14, 2015, we had another cement contractor (from an A-rated company with several Super Service awards on Angie's List) come out to look at our porch to suggest what we could do about it. When he saw our porch, he couldn?t believe that a porch that was poured only 3 ½ years ago could look this bad (please see photos below). When we explained that it was exposed to rain on the day it was poured, he said that that was the problem. He explained how moisture weakens the surface of cement. When you use salt on a weakened surface like this, the cement will crumble. Under proper conditions, salt would not cause a surface to crumble. He commented that it didn?t look like the porch had been sealed, but we told him that it was. His solution is to grind down the entire surface of the porch and cover it with a 3/8 inch overlay of flex cement estimated at $750 to repair the damage. ******************************************************************************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************************************************************************** 5/5/2015 In Response to the Contractor's Comments: The porch was power washed and sealed by an employee of the company. Please refer to our check #4966, dated 3/29/2012 payable to Joe Rodgers in the amount of $425.00.

Mark came and took a look at my patio that is flaking and provided an honest feedback on what needs to be done to fix the problem I have. He mentioned If I have to haul and construct the patio of the same size I have it would cost me so much money and mentioned that the structure and concrete work all looks good but he mentioned previous contractor did not do the project in right time after pouring concrete that was the reason I am having issues. He suggested that I need to go with contractors that does Overlay or skim coating which is not the job he does. Unfortunately this time I cannot hire Mark as he mentioned he does not provide such services. I am really thankful to him for his honest opinion.

Mark came to our house to be able to provide an estimate. He provided and honest suggestion that replacing our entire patio is going to cost us so much. But he suggested the existing patio is in good shape only thing needed to stop flaking is to do skim-coating or overlaying which is not some of the services he offers. Thank you for your opinion and suggestion on the job Mark.

Mark was very professional and arrived much sooner than I had expected for the estimate. Not only did he give me a full review of the items I had asked about he provided me with information for me to complete minor repairs without the replacement I assumed I needed. He was very straight forward and was a delight. When it comes time for me to actually need the work I'm already sold on his services.

This company was easy to work with. We scheduled an estimate and Mark came out and helped us figure exactly what we wanted. He made recommendations based on his experience and his observations of our neighborhood. He encouraged us how to stay within our budget and yet still have what we wanted - a nice balance, I thought, with no sales pressure. The work was simple and straightforward - the team he brought in worked well with him. They were all very well mannered and respectful and obviously knew what they were doing. They took care not to tear up the yard, and paid a lot of attention to the details of finishing the patio. The edge lines are all straight, and the curved edges very well done. Even the swirled pattern in the patio looks great. I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them. All around good job!

Mark Rodgers and his crew were fabulous! We called him on a Saturday morning, and he was out that afternoon to give us a quote and educate us about the options for replacing our driveway. He was so charming, it wasn't till after he left that we realized an hour had gone by! His crew demolished the old driveway as scheduled, but they couldn't install the new one because of nearly nonstop rain. When the weather finally cleared, the crew was at our house right away. Re the price: A friend of mine had her driveway replaced, and she paid nearly as much as we did for a much shorter driveway. Also, at one point, Mark realized he was going to have to rent concrete pumping equipment to get the material from the street to the end of our long driveway. Since he hadn't included this cost in his estimate, he did not charge us for it, which we appreciated. You couldn't find a nicer (or stronger!) crew. Just delightful to have around. We love our new driveway. They kept the noise down and did a fabulous job!

Mark and Anne were great to work with. Friendly and professional. Great communications. The work is very high quality and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to family and friends.

We ran into a few problems but everything got worked out and job performed was fantastic! Mark is one of the most honest, hard working guys I have met in a long time. I wish that I could do business with companies like his every time. His employees were also very courteous and responsible. I will use him in the future if I need any concrete work. Thanks Mark!

They were very professional and they did a really nice job. They were really, really nice.

All of the concrete driveway contractors told me that entire replacement is the only option vs Mark was the only one who was totally honest and actually suggested that I don't need a complete overhaul but instead I should do a preventative maintenance. He suggested few names & I had got the driveway looking clean / sealed to potentially get another 2-3 years out of it before replacing. Mark explained to me that it was about 70% on its way to replacement & would only suggest complete redo when it is closer to 30-50% life. His quote for replacement was very competitive & on time but by suggesting prevention he saved thousands of dollars for me. I have worked with many contractors & good ones too through Angie's List but I have not come across someone like Mark who is totally honest with the customer & do what is right. When it comes time for my concrete driveway replacement in 2-3 years, Mark Rogers Construction would be my choice.
