If you are in need of an electrician for your home, DO NOT CALL this company: Higher Power in Pataskala. Beyond the excessive pricing, the quality of service is marginal. Not only do the electricians work exceptionally slowly, which affects pricing of their service, but they are inexperienced in several areas of problem-solving in electronics. When the electrical problems are left unresolved, the customer is required to wait an excessive amount of time before electricians return to repair the problems. Importantly, too, when the customer calls the manager of the company to report that the job has not been satisfactorily completed, the response is without concern on the part of the manager and the customer is left to wait until another opening comes up. In general, the pricing is excessive for the quality of service that this company provides.

I recently used Higher Power Electric to fix an outage I was having in my home. They were by far the most responsive and knowledgeable company I've worked with when it came to electrician help. The person I worked with was named Lyle and he was one of the best people you could ask for when it comes to helping out. Not only was he fixing issues, but he would take the time to explain how I could potentially troubleshoot/fix in the future before calling them. For the actual repair, we ended up having to replace and rewire a few receptacles in the house. Also remapped outlets that I was not aware were connected to one another.

Poor experience! This is the text I sent to Pat the owner waited 2 days with no response. Pat I have given you ample time to get back to me. It's very unfortunate that your company in my opinion took advantage of an unfortunate situation that we ran into over Memorial Day. Obviously the gentlemen that came did not clearly understand the switches we had a got the wires crossed when hooking up the switches he placed. As I stated to you on the phone he charged me 144 dollars for the one breaker and also a 100 dollar diagnostic fee as well as the emergency call which I totally get. Then even though he had told me u need to come due to the fact that he was unsure of the Lutron. Switches which when u and I spoke it was you that would be coming out then received a call from the other guy stating he would be coming so there goes another 295 dollars out the door for nothing. Total for today's electrician visit and the last visit for diagnostic I paid a total of 545 dollars with all new breakers installed and 4 brand new lights installed. Now you tell me. I felt it fair that I send you this text to let you know I will be reviewing you company and stating what I have stated to you via this text message. Even though the same courtesy wasn't given to me with u calling back and discussing the situation.

I had partial power to my home, some things worked, some did not. My great nephew was to graduate college the next day and my garage door opener did not work and when I pulled the string the door would not stay up. So I was frantic! I called Higher Power. They asked some questions over the phone. They had a service man close by. When he got there he already suspected what the problem was. It was a miserable day, raining off and on. He got the work done anyway, replacing a double pole breaker outside. When he left everything was working and I got to see my great nephew graduate! I would absolutely have them back again.

After my 11-year-old 13KW Generac generator failed, Higher Power offered me an attractive rate to replace my part-house generator with a 22KW Generac whole-house generator. Eric led the installation team and completed the work in two days with only a brief time when power was shut off to perform the cutover. Higher Power arranged for a gas plumber to modify the gas line feed and moved the original generator away from the heat pump outside unit where it had been installed too close by the builder. A new pad was provided to replace the paver blocks installed by the builder to support the generator. All work was completed as promised, on-time and with minimal disruption of household activities. Patrick, the owner of Higher Power Electric, personally visited the worksite and inspected the completed work to make certain we were completely satisfied with the work and all work was accomplished to Patrick's own exacting, professional standards. Because of the quality of work Higher Power delivers and their highly professional approach to their work, I have decided to have them perform annual maintenance on my new generator. I recommend Higher Power Electric without reservation for electrical work and for home generator installation. Generac was the best choice for me, but Higher Power also has other, well-known brand names it supports (e.g., Briggs and Stratton). The installation included some options I added to take advantage of the new technology built in to this current generation of Generac home generators. I added a wireless module that I can access from my smart phone to monitor the status of the generator and even start it remotely. I also added a heater module to keep the battery warm in cold temperatures and an engine heater to keep the engine oil warm in cold temperatures.

The company is very responsive and the electricians who came to my home were friendly, helpful, and very professional. I'm very pleased with their work and have already recommended them to two other people. For the amount of work done I consider the price to be very fair.

In retrospect it went well. It is a complex job, and Higher Power is a small company. There were a couple rockey points. But Pat Payne the owner worked them out quickly to my satisfaction. Pat is a knowledgeable, friendly, and pleasant person. I enjoy working with him.

I strongly recommend hi service and would use his service again.

Terrible, terrible, the most unprofessional company ever. They do not return your calls. They do not follow through with their schedule. Had someone from Higher Power come in, took hundreds of pictures and we did not hear back. Finally, they told us how much it would cost, and we agree on a date, that they were supposed to send a proposal, and that did not happen. After agreeing on a date that they would do the work, they never called back to confirm and did not show up. My advice to Higher Power is not to make commitments that you cannot follow through, keep deadlines serious if you say that you are going to call back, do call back. Fortunately, we found a very professional company that we are currently working with to solve our problem.

I contacted Higher Power Electric and was told that service calls are $50.00. I thought that sounded reasonable because two other companies that I contacted said that they charge $75.00 for service calls. I made my appointment two weeks in advance for Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 9:00 a.m.. Mr. Patrick Payne, the owner of the company called me at 9:15 a.m. and said that he was on his way. He arrived somewhere around 9:30 - 9:45 a.m. I explained as I did earlier on the telephone that I had a few receptacles that were not working due to a power surge. My electric went out for about 10 seconds and it messed up three receptacles. Mr. Payne noticed that one of the receptacles was a gfi type of receptacle. He said, "oh, you just need to press this button when the receptacle is tripped." NO REPAIRS WERE NEEDED. I thought to myself Yay! I asked Mr. Payne if the surge protector on my panel was okay and he said yes because the green light is still on. He kept talking on and on about how he likes to school people on how electricity works. I didn't ask him to do that. I did not ask him to talk on and on and on then charge me $228.00 to press the receptacle reset button. That was absolutely ridiculous. If I was a man, I seriously doubt Mr. Payne would have charged me. Since I did not know how to dispute the high fee, I went ahead and paid the check knowing that I would file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau the following day, and submit a report to Angie's List so I could warn other people. I asked a City Electrical Inspector if resetting a receptacle outlet should cost me $228.00 and he said, "Are you kidding me?" I said no, I'm not kidding, Mr. Patrick Payne from High Power Electric robbed me. The inspector said that an honest contractor probably would not have charged me at all, knowing that the next time I had a real electrical issue I might call that same contractor back for real help. I don't care if Mr. Payne is the last electrician on earth. He should be ASHAMED of himself for treating me the way he did and robbing me of such a high dollar amount to reset a receptacle. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio and I am demanding at least $178.00 back from Mr. Payne. He should refund me the entire amount. I cannot believe this guy thinks that he is a professional. I truly believe he is a misogynistic pig and I will not recommend his service to anyone. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE THIS SCOUNDREL.

I have an older home. Most of the outlets have two wires with no ground. I'm in the middle of doing a remodeling project that will require drywall. While I have a couple of walls with exposed studs & outlets, this was the perfect time to get them re-wired and grounded before I put up the new drywall.

I've worked with them in the past. They are very knowledgeable and the job turned out right.

It went well. They came in and got it done. Scheduling was excellent. They were friendly and professional. They were easy to communicate with.

Same day service. Very prompt and professional. Pat Payne, the owner came out and made an awesome first impression. His expertise was quite obvious. He quickly found the problem, told me the costs associated with the repair, and made the repair in less than an hour. Once finished he showed me photos of the work that was done. Opened up the electric panel just to make sure there were no current or potential problems and told me what things he was looking for that may be a present or future issue. According to Pat they strongly believe in the saying, and quot;If it ain't broke don't fix it.and quot; , and I felt as if he was only there to fix my problem and address any potential ones. Luckily, no other issues were found but if they were to arise in the future we will be sure to use Higher Power Electric.

I would definitely recommend Higher Power Electric! Patrick was prompt, courteous, and professional. He thoroughly explained what needed to be done, and not done, and why. He kept me informed of everything he was doing. I felt confident that the work was completed safely and was of the highest quality.

UPDATE (December 2014): Keith installed two additional florescent lights in the basement and did an excellent job. He was on time, put on shoe/carpet protectors without being asked, was polite and professional. A few days later, Steve returned and performed repairs and service on our whole-house generator, and, again, was thorough, careful, polite, professional. We are very impressed with Higher Power Electric and would certainly call on them again. (July 2014): Steve installed a whole-house surge protector and also installed four florescent light fixtures in our basement. He did an excellent job in all respects. Our email and phone contacts with the company were courteous and helpful, and we would not hesitate to use this company again or to recommend it to others. The cost of the work was within the estimate, Steve and Patrick put on plastic shoe-covers when they arrived (without being asked), and when I mentioned having them back to replace the photoelectric cell on our outside post lantern Steve said he would do it before he left -- and did. Great customer service all round!

We have used Higher Power in the past, so when a Home Inspection requested two minor items Higher Power was the only electrician we called. Patrick gave me an estimate over the phone based on the inspector's recommendations. The worker arrived on time and reviewed what work would be completed. He completed the necessary work quickly and reviewed with us what had been done. Patrick and his workers are top notch and the only electrician we will ever use!

Justin, the serviceman from and quot;Higher Powerand quot; arrived within the time that was given to me by the dispatcher. He was very friendly and professional. He listened to my concerns, asked lots of questions, and went to work. Since it wasn't a cut and dry problem, sometimes the circuit blew and sometimes it didn't, he checked the circuit, suspected that it was too loose and replaced it. We then went upstairs and turned everything we could possibly load onto that circuit trying to make it trip, and it didn't!!! Yeah!!! He finished by telling me a few things that my husband might want to do to update a few outlets.

Once again, Pat from Higher Power Electric came to our rescue. Parts of our house began losing power randomly. Yesterday Pat left one worksite to come to our house. He not only found the problem, diagnosed the problem, found the safety issues, took pictures, he took the time to explain everything to us, showed us the parts, wires,etc. that were wrong, and fixed the problems. There were improper boxes, too many GFIs, wiring gone ary and he fixed them all at a VERY reasonable price. I would HIGHLY recommend this company!

When outlets in series with one of the GFCI outlets in the kitchen would not work and the GFCI outlet would not reset, I contacted Higher Power Electric to schedule an appointment. Because I discovered it on the weekend, I called on Monday morning, and since Mondays tend to be busy due to the collection of weekend issues, I expected there to be some time needed before a service could be scheduled. On the contrary, they were able to fit me in the same day and had the repair completed by noon. I have used Higher Power Electric before a couple of years ago to install ceiling fans in all of my upstairs rooms and they did an excellent job then as well. Patrick is very knowledgeable and willingly explained the process and details of why he made the recommendations that he did. His electricians were courteous, polite, and respectful of my home and belongings. I have used them twice now, and would not hesitate to use them again for any of my electrical installation or repair needs.
