During a bathroom remodel, I managed to break a 60 year old copper supply pipe for my toilet. I was unable to fix it myself due to the age of the pipe and the location of the pipe. I had to shut the water off to my house because the pipe kept leaking. I called Cruikshank at 8:30am and spoke with Michelle. I explaing my situation and she said she would check the schedule and see if they could move some people around to get us in. By 11:30am, Randy had showed up at the house and was working on the pipe. He had it fixed in a short amount of time and had the water back on for us. Absolutely wonderful service and they get extra thanks for being willing to help us out on such short notice. Highly reccomend them to anyone who needs a good quality plumbing service!

I called the plumber to talk about projected prices to fix the small pin leak in the copper pipe. Someone from the office called back and the appointment was made. On the day of the appointment, someone called to let me know if I was available, they could send the repairer out a bit early. He was very prompt and arrive when expected. The repairer was very professional and left no mess. He took the time to answer my questions and was personable. He was patient with my energetic dogs and very kind to them. Overall, ALL of the staff members that I interacted with were great. I am so happy to finally find the "right" plumber for me!
Description of Work: Replace a portion of a really old copper water line pipe. The small pin leak was near a T cross. The repairer replaced the the T portion and a bit of each cross pipe.

Being the closest service provider listed on AL, I called Cruikshank Plumbing when me water heater stopped heating water. They were all booked out for at least a week, however they were able to free up some time to accommodate me immediately that afternoon. The technician, Nick, went through the usual test to find the issue. The problem turned out to be just a breaker that was tripped in the breaker box. Why didn't I think of that? I guess that's the cost of ignorance. Nick was very punctual, polite, and professional. There was a $30 travel charge, plus $19.50 per 15 mins. of labor (as stated on the bill). The only complaint I have is that I was not given an Angie's List discount, since I did not print off the coupon ($10). I informed the company that I was an AL member when I called for the appointment, however they never told me that I needed to print off the coupon to give to the technician. Would've been nice to know...

My home is a split level and the upstairs tub and kitchen sink were backing up into my lower lever bathroom. I am always leary about using a service company I have never dealth with so I joined Angie's list and found Cruikshank Plumbing Co. The company had received an "A" rating and had great feedback from happy customers. I called and spoke with Mark Cruikshank and explained my problem and set up a time for an appointment. Randy came out and snaked the line and flushed with water and took care of the problem in no time. Randy was very friendly and helpful and did an excellent job! I will always use Cruikshank Plumbing for all of my future needs!
Description of Work: Everyone I talked with at Cruikshank Plumbing was so professional and helpful and they really seemed liked they care about my plumbing problem. Randy performed services at my home today and I was shocked at the low price and the excellent work and customer service. I would highly recommend this company to everyone who wants a great service from a company you can trust. My membership to Angie's list that resulted in me finding this company was well worth it. Thanks Angie! and Thanks Cruikshank Plumbing!

I called Cruikshank Plumbing and they explained their pricing and gave me an appointment with a 2 hour window that week. The person I spoke with was friendly, professional, and very honest. On the day of the appointment they called to let me know they were on the way. The plumber arrived on time, explained the approximate time and cost that it would take to do the job and proceeded to remove the old faucet from the basement wall and replace it with a new one. I paid him but forgot to give him my Angie's List coupon. I called the office and told them about the coupon and they refunded the $10 the next day.

We had a whole house generator installed by another company. At the time of installation, I could not find the isolation hose that you need to use between the rigid gas line and the generator. The generator was delivered prior to installation. After I found the isolation hose, the original company could not schedule a time to install it. After checking Angie's List for local plumbers, I contacted Cruikshank Plumbing through email after hours Monday night. First thing Tuesday morning, I received a call. After explaining what I needed and I was given approximate cost of installation. An appointment was made for Thursday morning. The plumber arrived right on time and quickly completed the job. It took less time than expected and cost less than quoted. The company was very professional and I would use them again.

They solved the problem but my husband wasn't very happy with it. He had pulled the board and stuff down before they got here to find out what the problem was. They didn't put that back so they kind of left it unfinished but it was how they found it. I would probably use them again in the future if needed.

Our home is 12 years old and had the original water tanks (2). I was becoming concerned about the potential of having to replace them without many options. I called Cruikshank Plumbing after locating them on Angie's List and spoke with the owner. How often does that happen? Mark Cruikshank guided me through the process of what is needed to install a tankless water heater. I had no questions at the end of our conversation. The installers were very friendly and professional. They finished the project under the estimated time, the job site was clean and the final cost came in under budget. These guys are on my list if I can ever use their services again.
Description of Work: We contracted with Cruikshank Plumbing to install a tankless water heater. The project required removal of two tanks and installation of the tankless system which included the intake and exhaust ducts. This company, I include everybody with whom I was in contact, was the best!!! As far as "dos", call Cruikshank; as far as don'ts, fear not they are top shelf.

First off, I've used Cruikshank in the past. They repaired a water heater, almost a year later replaced that water heater, and now fixed a few leaks in our master tub. Noticed a leak after seeing a small amount of mold on the ceiling under our master bathroom (in garage). Pulled the panel off our jetted bathtub and sure enough there was some mold and an active leak. After getting the mold checked out by a different company, I called Cruikshank right away. They scheduled me for the next day. Randy, who also did the other work mentioned above, was professional and easy to talk to. Using a small video camera inside the wall he discovered 3 sources of leaks (one was likely the main culprit, the others were contributing). He was able to make ALL repairs from the front of the tub -- he didnt not have to go in the back and rip out drywall (even if they did, since we had a closet back there, they have a solution for making it look ok by installing access panels). He sealed everything necessary and replaced the spout/shower diverter (which was part of the issue). He did the repairs in an hour and a half or so. Since I know the work they did with our water heater, I assumed the work/parts used were of good quality, which they appeared to be. I asked him to take a quick peak at our guest bathroom's tub and he said it looked good but recommended we seal a few areas that needed it. He answered ALL questions and also gives good advice. I do think pricing may be slightly higher than other solutions but in this situation it's probably worth it given the good work they do.

Ryan was on time, courteous and clean. He did an excellent job. The components they use are top notch. 14 times prior to the job). The estimate (by Mark Cruikshank) was for $1210 and he assured me that he always rounds UP in estimates... repeating that I could be assured that this was the maximum. The worker was polite and punctual. He didn't make any mess. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and to proceed at a decent speed. The problems were: a) at the end of the work I was to pay in full (as previously instructed). The worker made out a list of what was done and he came it showing me a number close to $1400 on his calculator, telling me this was the total of actual materials and his time. I wasn't too thrilled and we chatted about it. I remembered that mark had emailed me a specific proposal, complete with the $1210 estimate and, at the bottom, a promise that I would be told AT THE TIME if there was any reason the cost would exceed 10% above the estimate. [Mark's "absolute maximum]. At first the worker was somewhat adamant about the $1400 +/- number. When I produced the printout of Mark's email, he explained how impossible it was to actually DO that. When I was getting ready to call Mark, the worker said, "would you be willing to pay 10% over $1210? I agreed -- mostly because there was an item utterly left off of the estimate sheet ... and which I did not see when I read it. Why that was not part of the $1210 is beyond me. Maybe I should have pushed for the lower number. But I paid $1332. b) right away, there were air bubbles making quite a noise in our one bathroom... only when HOT water was requested. It's still the same today. It's quite an ugly sound, but the water does get hot and all. I emailed Mark after trying to debug it myself for some weeks.... by getting any & all air out of the whole system, etc. There was no reply (whereas Mark and I had traded emails about 14 times prior to the job). I patiently waited 2 more weeks then I called Mark. He had lots of potential reasons for this but was unwilling to fix it for free. One possible solution would be an extra $125. I'm no plumber so I don't know how legit this is with a water heater installation. I was hoping for more help. Otherwise the repairs and replacements seem OK. A grade of B seems correct. I would be hard-pressed to say that an A was justified. Yet the experience was not horrible.
Description of Work: Installed a new water heater & removed old one; replaced two outside hose faucets with newer technology; analyzed a leaky shower controller; redid water heater venting; maybe something else is slipping my mind.

I had a leak under my kitchen sink. I called Cruikshank plumbing and they were very willing and able to work with my schedule to come out. Randy arrived on time and quickly found that my old garbage disposal had given out. He had a matching replacement on the truck. I asked if he could also replace my faucet at the same sink with one I had purchased. He was able to accommodate. The job was done very quickly. Randy was very professional and cleaned up well after he was done. I will definitely call these folks again.

Even with no appointment, they were able to have someone come out that same afternoon. Randy came out and fixed it by putting in a new element. He ended up being here an hour...largely because the water heater was still under warranty that he had to verify. Next time, I'd just have him fix it because the part was cheaper than the time waiting for the warranty verification. He was prompt, professional and we have more hot water than we've had in years. He showed me the old element and where it had failed. I would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: Our water heater was not working at all. I checked the Angie's List website to find a company to call. Both women that I spoke with on the phone to schedule the appointment were pleasant and helpful. Since we had no hot water at all, they were able to get someone out the same day. It ended up that we needed a new element.

Naturally, it was after hours on a Wednesday night. After calling about four different plumbers and leaving voicemails, Randy from Cruikshank called to say he could stop by after some other calls. He arrived at 9:05 p.m. and quickly checked all drains, including backflow valve, which appeared to be stuck in the closed position, causing the backup. Once this was freed, everything worked properly. Randy was friendly, efficient and professional. Of the $168 this cost, $50 was the after-hours charge. $40 was the trip charge, and the rest was Randy's labor charge.

Replaced outside faucet - Being a first time customer, Verna Cruikshank explained their rates to me and broke down the cost of the work to be done at my place. The service tech, Randy, was very friendly and explained the pros and cons of ether fixing or replacing the faucet. I chose replacement. The work was done in a timely manner, in fact, I was surprised at how quickly he finished. He cleaned up inside and outside when he was done. Randy installed a coupling to the water pipe, in the basement, and he explained to me how to remove the faucet stem should we ever need to in the future. I highly recommend this company to anyone needing an honest, professional plumber.
