The 6-1/2' x 6-1/2' bathroom was built in the corner of the basement. It required the installation of a drain in the floor to connect to the sewer pipe and installation of all necessary plumbing for toilet, sink, and shower. Also moved existing overhead drain pipes, constructed two walls, installed pocket door, built shower stall, installed toilet, sink, outlets, lights and exhaust fan. The owner, David, was very friendly and professional, and readily accommodated my requests and preferences. He is a skilled carpenter who pays attention to detail. The plumbing team was very friendly, easy to work with and skilled at their craft. The one area of a little disappointment was the shower tile (which is the reason for the "B" rating on quality). The tiler did an acceptable job but it seems tile work might not be his area of expertise. Overall, though, the bathroom looks really good and I received lots of positive comments from my relatives who stayed here this past weekend.
Description of Work: Installed bathroom in corner of basement.

Dave did a great job he communicated exactly what he was going to do, committed to doing it, and executed it well. He was very professional and courteous and his price was extremely competitive with other bidders. He also did work on a door that had a a design flaw that was part of the Anderson doors. He fixed it for free. I would recommend him to anybody and already have.
Description of Work: Installed new entry and storm doors, installed PVC trim siding on exterior of house.

Dave did a great job and he was very easy to work with. He was efficient and left a clean work site. When he took down the previous posts, he noticed the original home builder didn't put a 4x4 post on the interiors of the column. He custom build a solid support at no extra charge. The work was custom, clean and professional. After personally pricing out the materials, I thought it was a fair price for the labor.
Description of Work: Build columns for our front porch. Replaced warped wood with PVC board; custom cut on site.

Description of Work: Contractor did good work on what he did, but was WAY overpriced. He shored up a walk-out deck for me and charged me $576, I could have had a whole new deck built for that. His invoice included "profit and overhead" which I've never seen anyone bill before. I would definitely not use him again ...

Description of Work: We were totally satisfied with the end result, both construction and communications during the process from beginning to completion. The contractors were highly professional and skillful in completion of our new modern bathroom in August 2012- from floor to ceiling! We will call on DLW II for additional remodeling projects in the future as we continue restoration of our old farmhouse.

We have used Dave before and think he is one of the best craftsmen we have dealt with. He has done numerous jobs for us over the past two years. This time we needed a 6 foot by 8 foot deck installed with two steps down to the patio from a new french door where had installed where before there had been a window. Dave came by the same day I called him and I described to him exactly what I wanted as I wanted the deck to flow with the existing patio and pool. I did not want a square or rectangular deck. The deck also had to incorporate a lattice work fence to hide existing pool equipment which sits next to the proposed deck. Dave took lots of notes and came back a week later with a drawing and plans for the deck and fencing. I did not want the deck to be made of wood, but rather of material that never needs painting or power washing. He suggested Timbertech and so we went and looked at this material and the colors, etc. We agreed with Dave that although expensive this was the material we wanted to use. We scheduled the work and Dave ordered the materials. Dave arrived on time on the appointed day with his helper and they got right to work. When they dug down to set the posts for the deck there were quite a few problems with old pool lines, old inactive gas lines, electrical conduit to outside lights, etc. Dave managed to work around all of the obstacles and get the concrete for the posts poured. In the next three days he built the deck. It turned out beautifully. It is the perfect shape, size and color for the space. We are very happy with the results. Dave also added trim to the bottom of our white kitchen cabinets and molding to the tops of our kitchen cabinets. They also turned out great. I would highly recommend Dave. He is organized, on time, excellent with billing, and is able to communicate well with the customer.
Description of Work: Dave built a deck off the back of the house where we had swapped out a picture window for french doors. He also added trim and molding to our kitchen cabinets to give them a finished appearance.

Dave did an excellent job. He responded immediately with a call back phone call, scheduled the estimate the same week and scheduled the work within the month. During the estimating process he took detailed notes and asked great questions about what exactly I wanted. Since I knew exactly what I wanted I was nervous that it would not turn out as I pictured it in my head. He arrived on time w/ his assistant and they immediately got to work. They were very neat and cleaned up beautifully afterwards. It took them two days to complete the project and when done it looked exactly like I had envisioned it. Dave is the first workman, and I have worked w/ quite a few, who was actually able to create what I had in my head. I was truly impressed. The quality of the work was also top notch. I am a perfectionist and had actually torn up the thresholds Dave replaced because of the poor quality of workmanship and materials. Dave's thresholds, again, looked exactly like what I wanted and were made of solid oak. Dave is not inexpensive, but I don't mind paying if I receive the quality of work I expect and with Dave I was not disappointed.
Description of Work: We completely redid a 10 foot fireplace. Dave created built in book shelves, mantel, decorative trim around the fire box and decorative wood facing and trim on the front of the raised hearth. He also created custom thresholds out of oak for five doorways and openings where the wood floor met the tile floor. Some of these openings were over five feet wide
I called David to discuss redecorating my kitchen. We wanted to replace our laminate floor, knock out a small cabinet and wine rack, build a wall to give the refrigerator the "built-in look," add a cupboard over the refrigerator and an appliance garage. I also wanted to replace my kitchen countertops and install a new sink. David came out and spent a great deal of time with me and a friend who was helping me with the project. He took his time to discuss many options and to listen to what I wanted and suggest ideas of how to accomplish my goals. He offered suggestions on materials and was cognizant of working with my budget and offering options at various price points. David promptly worked up an estimate for me with variables and options. He was very patient in allowing me time to make decisions and choose materials as we went along and not require that I pick out everything before we started. I have difficulty visualizing the completed project, so allowing me to see how how the countertops, sink and faucet looked before I decided on the floor was much appreciated. David gave me several options of places to shop for countertops, sinks, faucets, and flooring and we were very happy with all of his referrals. He was always punctual, kept me abreast of what was happening when, and cleaned up his workspace at the end of each day. David first replaced the countertop, hauled away the old countertop, had a plumber install the porcelain sink, garbage disposal, and faucet hardware. He removed and replaced my kitchen floor with a beautiful wood laminate. He hauled away the old floor, cleaned up each day and allowed us to use the kitchen throughout the process. He did a beautiful job laying the floor ~ it looks so nice!!! He also replaced all the woodwork in these areas. David built an appliance garage which is beautiful, and installed a new cupboard over the refrigerator. He did an excellent job of matching the existing cupboards. David also did wallpaper removal in our laundry room, painted it, replaced dryer venting and added trim over the cupboards. Another outstanding job! He put in a new light fixture and a new outlet in the appliance garage. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND David to anyone wanting to remodel. He is a very talented man, extremely honest and has good prices ~ very fair. He is very easy to work with, returns calls promptly and is very professional. I would welcome him back at any time.
