Everyone was very professional and knowledgeable. We had a new furnace, heat pump and A/C installed at the beginning of the spring and wanted to wait until we used the heat pump and furnace to write a review. The products suggested are performing as anticipated with cost savings as described. They gave us three options and mad their suggestions and the benefits if each. Installation was on time, professional and did the little extras that mad my life easier. I would recommend them for new product or repair. Fair, Honest and dependable.

Tim and Portman Mechanical installed a furnace humidifier in our home. Their pricing was reasonable and they performed the work with the highest of professionalism. Throughout the process they key us informed and made sure we understood all the ins and outs of the system. Moreover, they were exceedingly polite to the whole family. I highly recommend their services.

First of all, they are the only company in my local area that had someone dedicated to answering the phone. Since our hot water tank failed, this was very important! They were also prompt and extremely professional. I would use them again. The reason I selected "N/A" for the price is because I wasn't in a position to get competitive quotes. However, the price was in line with my expectation. The service exceeded my expectation.

Tim met me at the home before we moved in and inspected the existing systems. This was during an intense heat wave and the busiest time of the year, so it took a couple of days to get a quote since he wanted to do the math to properly size the systems. I appreciated the extra time taken so as to not sell us something we didn't need or that would be inadequate. Tim provided 3 price/performance/features options for both the HVAC and water heater and explained everything very well. I was unfamiliar with the water heater brand recommended but Tim answered all my questions via email, even reaching out to the company rep to get more information to put my mind at ease. He worked us into their schedule so that the work could be completed before move-in. The team showed up on time and completed the job a bit sooner than expected. Workmanship was impressive. Tim even pointed out a couple of other issues with the home, unrelated to the HVAC, that he'd noticed during the installation and deserved attention. He even replaced a saddle valve connected to the fridge at no charge, just because "he couldn't leave it there in good conscience" as they are known to leak. This was above and beyond the call of duty and much appreciated. When the work was complete Tim walked us through the operation of the thermostat and helped me set up the remote control app on my cel phone. We've had the system for over a month and are quite happy with it and the work Portman Mechanical performed. Very professional, technically savvy, and great workmanship.

Excellent, Mike was very prompt and courteous. He diagnosed the problem immediately and had the air conditioning unit up and running in no time. I would not hesitate to call Portman Mechanical again. They are honest and very reasonable in price.

I am in love! I absolutely love this company. Had them over to quote for a furnace/ac. (Will review that after it is done) Told Tim I wanted a new hot water tank now! Told him I wanted the biggest/best/hottest tank you can get. Tim told me that I didn't need the biggest. That a 50 gal tank would serve our needs. Cost was 850 for the tank and I needed two shut off valves put in so that was $50 each. Tim sent a lovely fellow named Kevin to my home on Monday. Appointment was at 9:00. I think he got here at 8:55. The service manager was in and out during the 4 hours to assist/check on work. He was also polite and nice and easy to work with. Kevin installed the water heater, the shut off valves, and left the place cleaner than when they started. Also, the work is nice and shiny and clean and you can tell they take pride in this. Also got a new flue liner for half the price we had paid before because it was not big enough to vent all of the carbon monoxide that we needed vented. That was $425. I have a total of zero complaints. I have hot water. Work was good, on time, and clean. There was pride. They use an american manufacturer. I am a big fan and plan on using them to do my HVAC system in the spring.

I had a problem with my furnace and I used some adviser and the person they sent out and they did not know what they're talking about so that's why I ended up using people from Angie's List and they were fantastic. It wasn't that expensive. The guy was really knowledgeable and he knew exactly what he was doing. I wouldn't say there's anything bad, I had no problems with them at all. It's been fine. It was a good price. I already recommended them to my brother and I would use them again in a minute.

I requested the instalación of an 'on demand' water heater which was the best choice in a home where occupants are away all day. The system works great. I have been dropping the temperature it will hest the water when the faucet is turned on and the water is hot enough for all needs. Right now I have it at 116 F. Tim Portman and coworker were on time and left my basement much cleaner than i ever had it. Portman had already upgraded my furnace and air conditioning system. Excellent work.

We awoke one late winter morning to find that the temperature inside our house had dropped to 49 degrees overnight. Our heat pump had stopped putting out heat. I put in a call to Portman Mechanical at about 7:30am. Tim answered right away. He said they would have a tech out to our house by 10 or 10:30 that morning, and that he'd call me. Sure enough he called at 10:15 to say the tech was on his way. He arrived 20 minutes later. The tech was courteous and professional. He put coverings over his shoes to protect our floors. He was thorough in his inspection, and took the time to explain to me what he suspected was wrong. It turns out there were multiple problems, which he explained to me in detail. After sourcing the parts, he had it repaired by mid afternoon. It works great now - actually much better than it has all winter. I could not be happier with the service they gave us that day. Our system is old, and will soon need replacing. When we do, we will definitely go with Portman.

Tim showed up right on time for the appointment as he always does when I schedule a service call with them!! Portman Mechanical is the most professional trustworthy A/C contractor that I have found. I have used his service before and they will be my go to provider for all my heating/AC needs. I have recommended them to several people and they are all just as pleased with their services as me!! Tim's motto is do it right the first time and he always stands behind his work to make sure your satisfied. You just cant find that kind of service like they provide with most contractors. Tim and Mike installed the Panasonic fan and duct work without any problems and it looks and runs great. These are the best fans you can buy for bathroom ventilation and they are so very quite you cant tell that it is running most of the time!! They also vented 2 additional bathroom fans out thru the roof. When the house was built they had vented all the fans into the sofit and because of this we were getting a lot of moisture in the attic because of this in the winter. Tim and Mike did such a nice job installing the ventilation system while using all the right materials. They used insulated duct work so the moisture cannot condensate in the winter which is a must for these cold Ohio winters. When they were done installing the fans and duct work they cleaned up the entire work area, you could not tell that they had been there. Tim then gave a demonstration and a walk thru telling us what they had done and explaining how to operate the new fan. He made sure that we were satisfied with all the work he had done. He did a follow-up phone call a few days later to make sure everything was working as should be!! After the install Tim did my spring A/C tune up. He showed me some tips on how to keep my A/C coils clean during the summer. for any heating and A/C needs give Portman Mechanical a call and you will be very satisfied you did!!!

Tim and Mike are excellent. I've hired Portman a few times and there is no need to call anyone else. They do excellent work, are knowledgeable, offer advice and suggestions without pushing, are always punctual, and are honest. Unlike most professionals I try to hire, these guys actually understand customer service. You don't have to worry about them forgetting appointments, if there's a problem they will call you, they are very friendly, and even put shoe covers on when entering the house without being asked. My dad hires them and referred them to a neighbor who hired them also. Tim took the time to call my dad and thank him for the referral. Imagine that, someone who actually gets it. Because my A/C unit needed leveled, the job took every minute of one hour. Mike worked hard to finish in that hour so I wouldn't get charged for another. They understand treating customers fairly with give them repeat business for years.

The work went really great!! My furnance had been leaking water from a cracked secoundary heat exchanger. Tim replaced my primary and secondary heat exchanger in my furnance which is no small task; this requires the knowledge and skill of taking a furnace completely apart and reassembling it. This requires a lot of skill and expertise to be able to do this. Tim knowes furnances inside and out which is one of the main reasons I chose him for this repair. He was able to do this repair with ease. Tim made sure that everything went back in and worked just like it did when it rolled off the factory floor. He also replaced the drain pipes which were installed incorrectly by the orginal installer of the unit. I told Tim about a room in the house that was colder than the rest of the house. He took the time to explain some solutions and balanced out the system to put more heat in the room at no extra charge!! The furnance works great now like new!! I also had Tim and Mike install a Basepump backup sump pump which is able to operate without electricity or battery power. The Basepump runs off water preasure so if the electric goes off you never have to worry a float in the sump pit trips the Basepump on when the main sump fails. The power can stay off for weeks and the Basepump will keep on pumping keeping my basement nice and dry. Now I dont have to worry about hooking up a backup generator or keep it running by adding fuel. It also eliminates my battery powered backup which was only good for 4 hours. This was a no brainer for peace of mind. Overall the work they done was very neat and proffesional, some of the best I have seen done. They wore covers over their shoes when ever they were in the house and vacuumed up the entire work area leaving it nice and clean. They were very nice and took the time to explain everything they were doing while answering any questions I had. Thanks guys for a job well done!!!!!

I was referred to Portman Mechanical by a website that I was doing water heater research on. He was local to me so I thought I would at least talk to him. Tim replied right away to my email request. We set up an appointment and he was right on time. Tim checked out the situation and took the time to listen to what I wanted to accomplish. He made a recommendation and also pointed out some other areas that he had concerns about. Tim gave me a ballpark figure and said I would have an estimate later that evening. The next day, the estimate was in my email inbox. I looked it over and it was very close to the ball park figure he had given me. In addition, the estimate listed other work that Tim recommended. The estimate was very easy to read and we decided on what work to do. At no time did Tim try to pressure me into the other work that he noticed. We set a date and Tim showed up on time to get started. Shortly afterwards, Mike showed up with the water heater. I work from home and my office is in the basement. Tim and Mike were working about fifteen feet from me and never did I have to interrupt work. I could hear them, but it was never a problem. Based on the time they were here, and the cost of the products, I was very surprised at the overall cost of the services. I would have expected it to be much more than it was. I have already emailed Tim to let him know that when it comes time to do the other work he recommended, he will get the job. From start to finish I was very impressed with Tim's patience, professionalism, and overall quality of the work. I would highly recommend Portman Mechanical. The next day, a small problem was encountered with the furnace, the igniter had cracked. Tim had Mike show up first thing in the morning and resolved the issue. Igniters have been an ongoing issue with this furnace through the years and even though I am sure that Mike did not damage it during his inspection, they still replaced the part for only the cost of the part. You could tell it was about ready to go my looking at it. In the 12 years we have been in this house, this is the fourth igniter. I usually keep an extra on hand. If you are looking to have HVAC work done, give Tim a call!

Tim Portman was recommended to us by a friend who had used him for a new furnace filter. The other two companies that we got quotes from sent out "sales" guys who used to do installation. Tim came to our house to personally to do the estimate so I felt more confident that there wouldn't be any "surprises" during the process. Tim and Mike arrived each day and promptly set up work/staging areas in the driveway and covered items stored in the basement. Everyday when they left, tools, work areas etc. were entirely packed up. They did things that I wasn't really expecting as part of the job. They rebuilt the cold area returns and removed ductwork that was now redundant. He installed louvres in the duct so that we can control the air flow from the basement. They reworked the flue to the hot water heater so that it is safer and more efficient. After all of the work was done, they went over and explained everything that had been done and how the new systems work. They were polite, professional and pleasant throughout the process and the work was completed for the estimated cost.

They are awesome. They certainly took their time to do the job. They were very accurate and precise in explaining in layman terms of what they were doing and what was going on. They really took time to make sure to add all the information before making a decision and went through the different options, closing time on each one. I had a great experience with them and I have actually recommended them to few other people because I was so happy with the services that they provided.

Promptly set up an appointment when I first called. Arrived on-time and explained the process he would use to develop the quotation. Inspected existing equipment and made recommendations regarding upgrades. Thoroughly described the proposed equipment that he would quote and prepared quotation based on recommended equipment along with a number of alternates and options to consider. The quotation was accepted and the work scheduled. The work was performed in a neat and clean manner with minimal disruption. Portman worked late the first to assure heat would be available. Completed the work in two days. The installed equipment was thoroughly explained and training was conducted on the use and programming of the new thermostat. The crew did an excellent job of clean-up and left nothing behind. I am very satisfied with the work Portman Mechanical performed.

Portman Mechanical had previously serviced my 25 year old furnace and I was impressed then by Tim Portman's professionalism. When the time came to replace the system, Tim provided me with a comprehensive written quote, complete with line itemed options and manufacturer's brochures illustrating exactly what he was quoting. He and his techs were professional, friendly, thorough and respectful of me and my home. I think that they went above and beyond for me dealing with a challenging install (crawlspace) and accommodating my requests. Overall, my experience with Portman Mechanical has been outstanding and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Tim Portman was prompt, professional, and polite right from the start. He drew up clear and concise bids including several alternative options as I had requested. He took the time to answer all my questions and was able to explain the technical aspects of the work in a way I could understand. He and his helpers were very good about keeping the work areas clean starting with drop cloths across all carpeted areas of the house, picking up as they worked, and vacuuming all the work areas upon completion of the job. I was also impressed with how Tim and his helpers all took the time not just to complete the work but to fasten down and dress up everything. Things were not just slapped into place. When the work was completed it looked like a photo out of sales brochure, all neat and tidy. I can't say enough about how pleasant and painless Tim made the whole process. I highly recommend Tim and his company.
