It was a reasonable cost compared to other solutions, and it was done exactly as explained. They did exactly as they said they were going to do.

I contacted the Basement Authority to get another quote to resolve water entry in my basement. Brendan was the assessor who came to my home late August/early September. Brendan spent an hour with me going over my home?s drainage system. He thoroughly checked settling cracks on the basement walls, and he helped me test the sump pump. Brendan showed me repair issues with my downspouts, sump pump, and gutters. Brendan determined that the basement cracks were typical and should just be monitored. Brendan drew a drawing of my home listing the areas to repair and stated I needed a handyman and a quick trip to Home Depot. I have since had a handyman complete the repairs listed by Brendan and the total cost was less than $100.00 for the repairs. The handyman agreed with Brendan?s assessment of the basement?s normal settling. Prior to having Brendan complete his assessment, another basement company completed an assessment to address water entry. The other company quoted $5000.00 in repairs recommending shoring up the basement walls. As a widow who is just taking on home repairs and improvements, I cannot say enough how reassuring it was to have Brendan spend so much time helping me to understand the various areas of my basement system. I am also appreciative that he identified the issues and provided direction to resolve the water entry. Thank you Basement Authority for providing great customer service even when it meant that you didn?t get the sale.

Jeff Hedrick measured the deflection, or amount of bowing, in the wall to attempt to determine the severity of the problem. Luckily, the deflection is so small that the wall may have simply been built that way. Jeff was very honest and professional and immediately told me that if it were his house, he wouldn't do any thing more than cosmetic maintenance with some primer and perhaps a hydraulic cement. I will not hesitate to call them again if I have future basement issues or concerns.

Jason Fry, the salesman we dealt with, told us the project would be finished in 1 week. It took 3 weeks. The first drain at the bottom of the concrete steps was not a french drain system that was specified on the plan. That had to be redone. Both window wells had to be taken out and reset, because the first time it rained, the water poured in around them. The window wells are not leaking anymore. However, the block was never sealed outside and when it rains, we have water seepage through the block by the door. My husband has called the office multiple times and left messages with Jason Fry. We were promised that by July 25, the block would be sealed. Well, today is July 25, and no one has shown up or called to correct this problem. Yes, the project did pass final inspection with Grove City. However, the inspectors did not see the water coming through the block when it rains hard. I have pictures of the water coming in. Now, the basement is being finished, and it is time to put up the insulation and drywall. We sure aren't going to do that with a water problem existing. This company guaranteed no water leakage. Well, they haven't lived up to their word and we are tired of the stalling. They have our money and have not lived up to their word. We had no water leakage through the basement block walls before this project started. UPDATE 7/28/2014 Joe called me this morning and said he was coming to fix the basement leak. He arrived as scheduled. He informed me that 3 coats of some type of waterproofing would be sprayed inside and outside on the block around the basement door. He applied the first coat today. Second coat of waterproofing will be applied next week. Joe will call. I am very pleased that Joe came today and started the leak fix process. Joe also told me not to install drywall around the door area until the 3rd coat of waterproofing is applied and we are sure that the leak is fixed. I definitely feel that we are headed in the right direction of fixing the basement leak problem. I will amend my review if the leak problem is fixed. Joe was very nice and professional today; a pleasure to deal with.
Description of Work: Contractor put a walk out entry into our basement and installed 2 garden ( sunhouse) windows with wells. They installed the door and put in an outside drain, plus tied into our existing drainage system. The walk out has concrete steps. The project was finished in 3 weeks.

Summary: This could not have been a better experience. I give Ohio Basement Authority my highest recommendation. The initial "salesman" who I met with came out quickly to discuss the issues that I needed corrected. During that meeting and discussion, I gave Jason a copy of a structural engineer's report to reference. We looked in the crawlspace area and discussed options. We came up with some plans for the work and some initial estimates. A couple of days later, Jason called to say that he would like to get back into the crawlspace after really reading the lengthy engineer's report and wants to see the issues up close. He came at 8:00 on a weekday. The two of us spent a few hours in the crawlspace. By the time we were done with our discussions and planning, Jason was there until after midnight. I was impressed with his work ethic and knowledge, so I took the plunge and signed a work order for almost $13,000 of work - hoping that the rest of the company was as sharp as Jason. (Spoiler alert - they are) On day one of the four day project, the crew arrived on time. I met the three-man team led by Justin. Justin was well-versed in the details of what my house needed. He had read the engineer's report and had a copy with him to reference so he was properly prepared. As his crew put down plastic to keep my house clean and climbed into the crawlspace, he went through the plans for the project in detail with me. I was immediately impressed with his understanding of my needs. He and his crew (John and Isaiah) then went right to work with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. My project involved lots of hard manual labor over the four days. The rest of the days, there were four or five people. There was lots and lots of digging, mixing 120 bags of concrete - carrying in buckets from outside into the basement, and up into the crawlspace, etc. I have NEVER seen any crew work this hard. I was totally impressed by everyone! Every member of the team was professional, polite, and positive. Several people had told me that the owner was a Marine (Oorah!) and runs a very tight ship. That "hard-working, let's get it done" attitude was evident with all of the people that I met. The entire crew knew what they were doing and worked very hard the entire time. The foreman Justin always went out of his way to tell me what they were doing, why they were doing it, and what they would be doing next. He ensured not only that the work got done, but that it got done correctly. Now that the project is complete, I have FULL CONFIDENCE that it was done correctly. I know that my house is structurally sound and the concerns that I had have been addressed. One pleasant side effect is that my crawlspace that was a nasty, damp area is now a clean and usable space. I'm totally impressed. I also know that if I have any questions or concerns in the future I will be able to simply call Justin directly or Ohio Basement Authority and will get the answers.
Description of Work: Install additional joists - sistered to existing joists Install eight steel support poles on new large concrete pads Install drainage pipes around perimeter of crawlspace for waterproofing Dig and install new secondary sump pit with primary and backup pumps Change discharge location of existing sump pump Trench new discharge line from house to storm drainage

I was immediately impressed with the professionalism of this company. They stuck to their quote, they were prompt, and their work was efficient but not rushed. Absolutely everyone I interacted with was courteous and extremely informative. They also seemed to genuinely like the company that they were working for - which I always think is a good sign. The resulting sewer line is a-okay, and I definitely plan on using this company for future projects.

Everything went well. I am having many projects done on my house, and I very much appreciate a service provider who shows up on time to give an estimate, shows up on time to get the job done, provides an estimate which is then reviewed for accuracy. Crawl space had 2 rusted out jacks and 2 cinder block supports. Nothing had been done right the first time around. I worked with The Ohio Basement Authority. I told them what I wanted and asked for their advice of how to best tackle it. The Smart Jacks took a lot of work. If you think the price is expensive, please consider that it took a lot of man hours to get the job done. First was to put 7 footers in place for the jacks. Then the work of installing the jacks. Great job. Exactly what I needed. I would not hesitate using The Ohio Basement Authority for basement and crawlspace work. One last thing. I'm probably not as hands off as I should be. I like to check in and see what's going on. The team is happy to show me what they are doing and point out any obstacles that they have overcome. And when the job is done, a thorough review is done to make sure that I am satisfied with the work done and to my expectations.

The company cleaned out two crawl spaces in basement, added sealed mat, drain mat, and gravel. Cleaned out inside perimeter of basement walls/ceiling of old insulation and insulated entire basement with spray foam. Added mortar around windows. Also suggested waterproofing system and adding sump pump, but this work was not performed due to pricing. Victor, our estimate representative and inspector was professional and friendly. Good presentation of products, recommendations for us, and answered all of our questions confidently. Service techs were punctual and professional. Did an inspection with us after work was completed to confirm we were satisfied with all the work. Had no issues.

The estimate was not the lowest of other companies, but this was the reason I chose them: The estimate appointment was on time, and they were the only company that sat down and explained everything in easy to understand terms. They also were the only company to show me their licencing, bonding and insurance information up front. This put my mind at ease. My situation was complex as I have a tree growing right over the top of the old line. I was told they would have to dig around it, to disturb the tree as little as possible. When the estimate was complete, I was given the exact total the job would cost, so I was certain there would be no outside "gotcha" costs The team that performed the replacement was very clean, showed up on time, easy to talk to and also answered all the questions I had. When having to enter the house, they also made sure all mud/dirt was not tracked in the house by using cloth foot coverings and the small amount of dirt that was brought in, they cleaned up after the job was complete. Blew away my expectations. I would recommend them to have this service done for anyone who needs their water line replaced or repaired. I will be using them again for other services they provide in the near future.

[member name removed], We spoke with Jeff (the inspector) and he informed the office that an engineer will need to visit your property. He was under the impression that you had already arranged for a structural engineer to inspect the property. Sorry for the confusion, and I am confident that Jeff will assist you with the process. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call the office at 614-759-0100.

The work took a little over a week. It was done thoroughly....the water tank, pressure tank, and water softener system were all moved enabling the wall directly behind the equipment to be repaired correctly. I had a water problems for 15 years.....and spent thousands of dollars putting ineffective band aids on the problem. My basement is now bone dry. I am very pleased.

I was pleased with the end results and the time frame it took to do this project. Because of my work schedule I was home on only one of the three days the work crew were here. Of course, I was concerned that strangers were in my home while I was gone but I found no evidence of theft or unexplained disturbance in my home. This was a big project and anyone who has this done in their home must realize " stuff " in your basement must be moved and the project will create dust and dirt. Yes, the workers do their best to keep the mess to a minimum but concrete dust finds it way into many places in your home. Just know there will be more clean up and organizing by the homeowner when the project is done. Would I do it again---Yes !!! My basement seems drier, I do not see evidence of mold, and the sump pump is working. I still have wall and floor painting to complete in the basement but I know this has increased the value of my home and I am not worried about a wet basement.
Description of Work: Installed sump pump w/battery back up pumping system, installed iceguard to prevent floods from frozen discharge line, installed WaterGuard sub-floor drainage system under concrete basement floor w/weep holes in every core of every block and placed gravel around drainage system and reconcreted basement floor in all areas removed. Installed 7 carbon fiber supports on back wall and filled in cracks on wall.

Overall, Ohio Basement Authority did a great job with our basement waterproofing job. The gentleman who came out to the inspection and estimate was very responsive when we had questions and did a very thorough job of documenting the work to be done both in writing and using a video. The workers were very prompt, respectful, and finished the job on time. The finished work looks very polished. We have had several major rainstorms since the work was done and have not had any problems with water coming into our basement since the job was completed.

Cleanest service I've ever used. Covered floors and removed covers in traffic areas EVERY DAY. Cleaned up everything and removed debris from premises. Even kept our basement carpet clean from debris and paint. Great job! New wall blends in with all the others. Crew kept us advised of each step and welcomed our questions as work progressed. Sales and office staff was prompt (One reason they were selected)and courteous. My only regret is that we didn't use Ohio Basement Authority on earlier projects! Also the lifetime guarantee on the carbon filaments is a plus.

They took a lot of proofing, basement waterproofing, and also replacing a drainage line, the main citrix drain for instance. The quote was $25000. The person who was there to do the quote was definitely knowledgeable, friendly, a little bit requotes, came right on time, took his time explaining things and answering my questions. Overall experience, I found I am using them I just have been able to schedule things. He did the estimate while he was there after he had examined everything inside out of us and came out for a few estimates. They were very detailed. He drew on the map of the house and explained things on what was going to be done. It has been a lot of work on me if they are doing the work.
