 + -1 moreCrew worked over two days to complete the job. They were extremely professional. I would recommend Radiant to anybody. Mike is a low key sales person and he gave us his best price out of the shoot. A practice I did not see with any of the other 5 quotes we got for the job. The whole process was pretty much stress free thanks to Mike's professionalism and his laid back manner.
Description of Work: Replaced 20 custom sized double hung windows with grids in our house. Included two picture windows. No issues with the windows, although now that they are in, I wish we had opted for full screens instead of half screens.

 + -1 moreThe owner came to the house to make his sales pitch and to measure all of the windows. He produced a bid on the spot. Later he passed along a manufacturer's discount to make the price even more attractive. After much anguishing over the decision on my part, the Angie's List reports, calls to customers (list provided by Radiant), pricing, warranty and friendly nature of owner finally led me to select Radiant's bid over others. The 50% deposit was sent, and Radiant called about 4 weeks later that the windows were ready. Within the week the windows were installed. The installers arrived at the scheduled time, got right to work, were responsible and finished in one day (though 2 days were scheduled). They put mats down and cleaned and vacuumed when done. You couldn't tell they were outside either. Very impressed with the labor and products. Windows look great and open/close easily. Minor complaint: a strong solvent odor from the caulking and clean up lasted a few days.
Description of Work: Replaced 12 very old, single-pane, wood windows and storms with argon-filled, low-E glass, vinyl windows. Five had grilles between the glass panes, and one had simulated wood grain (others white). Old materials carted away.

 + -1 moreWe are very happy with the results from Radiant Windows. Phil, Jim, and Bernice worked well together and stayed extra long to complete the job in one day. Phil and Bernice trimmed the interior of the existing frames to cover the blemishes left from the old windows. They worked extra hard trimming the windows so that they all appeared straight and even although the existing window frames were not. Jim did a great job wrapping the frames on the exterior of the house with vinyl to make a water tight seal. Aesthetically speaking, looking at the windows from the outside, you would think they were original to the home. Mike and his installation crew bring a level of customer-oriented service to the job that is missing from most contractors these days. At first I found it a little difficult to believe all the straight-A reports that I read about Radiant Windows on Angies List. Now I know they are true. I would not hesitate to hire Radiant Windows again in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced twelve (12) wooden casement style windows in the sunroom of my 1927 colonial with 12 vinyl replacement casement windows and fixed sashes. The old wooden casements did not seal against the frame and were letting rain into the sunroom. Mike sold me with his thoughtful approach to replacing our windows. Other companies wanted to remove the existing window frames/roof supports and re-install their own frames and windows. I never liked the idea of having to remove these supports to install new windows. Without having said this, Mike Shadoan presented a design that incorporated the existing window frames/supports while respecting the architectural and structural integrity of our home. We chose white vinyl on the exterior and the optional cherry finish on the interior with matching grids and low-e glass.

The crew came out to replace out windows and casings. They came early, cleaned up well after themselves and installed high-quality windows. Our new windows are nice, and we can tell they are nice quality, definitely a nice upgrade from our old windows. Highly recommended company, we were very happy with the whole experience!

 + -1 moreMike (the owner) came out to give me a very thorough and informative estimate. His original estimate was very competitive with a previous estimate I had received, for mid-range windows. But then Mike showed me the top-of-the-line windows he also carries -- and boy, are they nice! I went with the better windows, and am so pleased with them. However, it's the install team that really deserves the praise in this company. Prompt, professional, expert work, and my house was left cleaner than when they started. Phil, Bernice, and Jim work exclusively for Radiant, and they are dedicated professionals who take pride in their work. This company is highly recommended!

 + -1 moreFrom the initial sales call to the final install, Radiant Windows was great to work with. They were very low-pressure during the sales call, never talking bad about any other manufacturer that we mentioned meeting, and told us just the facts. Later, the owner was very helpful when I asked about window ratings to compare manufacturers and was quick to respond to my emails. The installers were on time and very nice people. They were clean, placing runners throughout the house so they did not make a mess and when they were done, they vacuumed up the entire area. If it weren't for the beautiful new windows, you would never have known they were there. The window we went with, Sunrise Windows, are superb! They look great! We no longer have any condensation issues and the drafts are gone.
Description of Work: Radiant replaced seven old double hung windows with new vinyl double hung windows because our old ones had horrible condensation problems and were very drafty. They took out the old ones, put in the new ones, and put new trim around both the inside and out.

 + -1 moreWhen Mike came out the first time, he described what was the problem with the old windows. He could have sold us all new windows, but he was extremely honest and ethical to inform us that he could just re-set our existing vinyl windows and put on new trim inside and out and re-seal everything to solve the problems. If we could give Radiant Windows A+ for everything we would. We received 5 estimates for the windows from other large reputable window companies and Radiant Windows had the best price, window for window, and they also had the latest in technology and test numbers! Most of the time things like this are "too good to be true", but they went above and beyond what they promised they would do in their contract with us. We are going to hire them in the future to work on our other rentals and our personal home with new windows and doors and storm doors! Thanks Radiant Windows!
Description of Work: Mike, the owner, has a lot of experience with windows. He was able to re-set many old vinyl windows we had installed in our apartment buildings years ago by a different company. Mike pointed out many serious issues about how they were originally installed wrong and that's why they were leaking. He also installed several new windows for us with safety glass to help prevent break-ins. Mike and his crew (Phil, Berneice, and Jim) have done above and beyond our expectations on all levels. They were efficient, courteous to our tenants, protected the carpets, vacuumed when they were done, and removed all of the old windows and trash!

 + -1 moreAfter Mike did his job, Bob (one of the two installers for our job) called the night before to confirm the time and place, and said he would arrive at 8:30 the next morning. At 8:30 Bob and Cory arrived, and went right to work. Bob walked me through the process, and in no time they were working. They laid down protection, so they wouldn't mess up the carpeting, removed the storms, the old windows, and installed the new ones. Bob and Cory were excellent. They worked quickly and efficiently, did beautiful work, and cleaned up any mess they made. We were very impressed. In a few months, we will have them do the next batch of windows. Thanks guys. David

 + -1 moreContacted Mike Shadoan on Thursday and he stopped by our house to give us a quote on the following Monday. Very knowledgeable regarding windows (previously a window designer). Gave us a few quotes that night. No pressure. Windows were installed in the quoted time. Installers were professional, efficient and friendly. They were careful not to soil any rugs or damage any furniture. Vacuumed after completion of the work and hauled away all of the old windows and debris. Did a nice job of sealing the windows both inside and out. Would highly recommend.

The windows were just installed this morning so time will tell if they perform as advertised, but I have no doubts that they will. One of the windows has a nick on the finish of the sash but I have been assured it will be replaced and have all confidence that it will. It was nice dealing directly with Mike, the company owner. He was very low-pressure and met the price that I had in mind. His installers were courteous, efficient, cleaned up well and generally did good work. I plan to have Radiant replace more of the windows in my home as the budget becomes available over time. Versus other companies which have been known to use high pressure sales tactics I would definitely recommend Radiant.
Description of Work: Radiant replaced 4 windows on the first floor of my house and removed storms and installed flashing on two other previously installed windows. The new windows included 3 double hung Sunrise windows with cherry finish on the inside and one picture window at the top of the basement stairs.

 + -1 moreThe owner Mike Shadoan came out to my home promptly with sample windows and explained my options clearly. He quoted a price. When he found out that I used Angie's List immediately deducted $50.00 per window. When the windows came in, I was called directly and arrangements made for installation. Wet weather caused one delay, but in short order my windows were installed. The old sashes and storms were carried away and every area completely cleaned inside and outside my home. There has been an immediate difference in the comfort of the rooms. I have yet to receive a heating bill. I expect there will be a significant impact. I could not be happier with the outcome.
Description of Work: Radiants Windows replaced double-hung window sashes in 6 windows in an 80 year old home. The replacement windows were vinyl double-glazed with argon.

We found that Radiant offered quality products and installation and knew we would go to them for the window replacement. We had confidence in Mike Shadoan's product knowledge in the decision-making part of the project, and knew we could rely on his timely responses if questions came up. The windows were manufactured locally, which is nice for Ohio business. The installation process went very efficiently and was completed in less than the expected time. We will be working with Radiant on a finishing-touches type of project in the near future to replace some decorative trim around the front door.

 + 2 moreThis is one high-class operation. It took 1 1/2 days to install the windows and the doors. We had metal window frames (Pan Frames, I think Phil called them) which were bears to remove, but I never saw a crew of people work so hard and so long to accomplish a task! I was tired just watching them try to saw through the frames, but they succeeded and did a fantastic job. The new windows and doors are stunning, and I mean that sincerely. Someone stopped by last night and his first words were, "those windows. They're fantastic." I wish I could give a higher grade than "A" because Radiant Windows and their installation crew truly do deserve a much higher rating. They worked wonderfully together, were so accommodating and kind, and so very personable. Except for the pounding (which is necessary, of course) we really hated to see them leave. They became almost like family. So, Bottom line, call Mike at Radiant for windows and doors. Have him pick the selections. He's superb!
Description of Work: Mike Shadoan of Radiant Windows came out to give an estimate on new doors and windows for our 50 year old Westlake ranch home. Since Mike deals in this field all the time, I left the decision making up to him as to which windows to have installed, and what design doors to put into our house. I really trusted his judgment, and I certainly was completely correct! Mike contracted to install 13 windows (casement), 7 Glass Block (with Vents), 3 Entry Doors, 3 Storm Doors, and all new woodwork around the windows and the doors. The Glass Block basement windows were arranged by Mike of Radiant through Medina Glass Block. Mike handled all the measuring and details, and I had to do nothing. (What a time saver for me). The Medina Glass Block crew was wonderful. It took 4 installers 1 1/4 hours to complete the 7 windows, and they did a fantastic job. The excellent Radiant Windows crew consisted of Phil (the crew chief), Bernice and Jim (the windows installers) plus Walter (the door installer).

 + -1 moreWithout a doubt the best experience I've had with a contractor in 20 years of owning homes. Mike, the owner, is the best. Punctual, polite, and respectful of my home. Arrived on time, listened to what we wanted, answered all our questions and gave good advice. Suggested details that made all the difference. Knows his product, only sells the highest quality and absolutely no BS. His crew is outstanding. They arrived on time and worked steadily though out the cold, rainy day without complaint or cutting corners. The job wasn't done until they were satisfied it was perfect. And it is. Nearly A year later (my fault for late posting) both doors are so well balanced and square a good breeze will slam them shut. No gaps or air leaks and they're gorgeous. They had to do extra shimming and caulking because of the not even close to square framing of the opening and crummy siding, but you'd never know it by looking. I was so pleased to have found them. Left the site perfectly clean.
Description of Work: Mike's crew headed by Phil installed 2 each storm/screen doors and Therma-tru entry doors on my home. The seemingly high cost for the job is due to the cost of the doors, we ended up choosing two of the most expensive doors Therma-tru makes. The labor portion was very competitive, actually downright cheap given the high quality of the work performed and the care put into the job. Mike and his 3 crew members are people of good character-conscientious and trustworthy. They're all pleasant and friendly and work so well together. They respect one another and the customer benefits from this cooperative atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble if it makes the job perfect. A homeowner would be hard pressed to find this kind of quality work at any price. I will have them replace all my windows, I'm not even going to get any other bids. They treat my home with the same care they would their own. The work was performed in March 2006.

Description of Work: Radiant Windows installed 5 replacement windows, a slider in the attic that involved replacing rotten wood in the frame and sill, and 4 doublehungs. I believe the windows were medium quality, the same as I had installed previously in another project. It seems to be a very good window.

 + -1 moreSince I live in Lorain County one of the other staff came out basically to measure and hand out some brochures and explain basic window facts. Would have preferred that Mike had come out but the girl he sent was very nice and seemed very efficient at measuring. I didn't get the estimate right away and was in a hurry so called them. He then called back with just the one window estimate with the rest of the windows to follow (not yet received). Price $661 is for the one window approximately 24 x 28 - they would cover the window sill which is rotting but not replace it. He did explain that it would be less expensive per window if more than 1 window was purchased. Price would be reduced $50 for AL discount.
Description of Work: Estimate for 1 bathroom window, picture window and all other windows.

 + -1 moreMike, the owner of the company, came out in person. He is very nice, prompt, and knowledgeable. He was VERY PREPARED with many catalogs on door styles. He was straightforward and honest and not "gimmicky" like some of the other companies. He didn't act like all he wanted to do was sell me something, like some of the other companies. When I had a question about a particular door, he called the manufacturer immediately from my house and gave me an answer. He gave me quotes on the door prices immediately and was by far better priced than competitors. He responded to all of my phone calls. The door was delivered as promised, on time. It was installed by Walter who was VERY NICE. Walter also took the time to explain some things about the new door. As a bonus, they left a pint of extra stain so I can stain my stair railing to match the door, no charge. They also left some extra paint for touch ups. Everything was as promised.
Description of Work: We had our front door, which was an original outdated 1970's style, replaced with a brand new door. The new front door is very decorative, leaded glass French door style.
