Dan was very friendly. He listened to the ideas we had for our kitchen. He offered suggestions too. He did up some plans and sent them to us. He then came out again and went over the plans and did some more measurements. We discussed all of our options and now we are waiting for estimates. Dan was great. He is not pushy he doesn't tell you should do. He listens to your needs and cost concerns. We are very pleased with him.
Description of Work: Dan was prompt with response. He arrived on time to view the job we were looking at doing.

I talked to Dan and he had set a date to come and fix my garbage disposal, but due to the fact it was my kitchen sink and I needed it fixed ASAP and he was extremely busy, I had to cancel the Big deal. I told him we would use him again. It was not his fault.

We were unable to use Dan because he was too busy and we needed it done immediately. It was the garbage disposal that was in my kitchen and i need to use that daily. We will use Dan again.
Description of Work: The provider was going to fix my garbage disposal. Because it was in the kitchen and he could not come within a couple of days we had to cancel. We told Dan that we would use his company again. It had nothing to do with his company it was just that he was very busy and we could not wait for them to come. I could not be without a kitchen sink for longer than a week.

Dan takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows. He is punctual, ethical, and professional. His workmanship is superior. I appreciate the fact that he high-balled his estimate and then adjusted it down when the job was done ahead of schedule. He is someone you would not hesitate to have in your home. He is neat, clean, and polite - a real gentleman.

It took several calls to schedule the appointment. Once we set a date, however he was punctual and did call to let me know the morning of that his previous appointment was taking a bit longer than anticipated. Once he arrived he was very thorough and took great care to examine the area and determine how the outside outlet was wired and to give me an assessment of the condition of my wiring. He fixed an outlet that had become loose and replaced the whole outlet. In the basement we had a light fixture that would not fit in the spot where we had taken down the old fixture because of a vent nearby. He extended the wires and moved the box over a few inches to accomodate our new fixture. He installed it and it works great! Very happy with the work - it exceed the two hours I had purchased that is why the repairs cost a little more.
Description of Work: electrical work - move a light over a couple of inches and installed new light in the basement, also replaced an outdoor outlet that was sparking.

I purchased a Big Deal for 8 hours of remodeling for $249. When the contractor made the first move to contact me, I got what turned out to be a completely inaccurate impression of professionalism. I explained my project and what I was thinking of doing, and asked when the contractor might be available to come have a look and give me an idea of the scope and cost of the project. I explained that my schedule was full for the next week but I would be able to schedule a time for the following week. He emailed me back and told me that he would be in my neighborhood the following day, during business hours, and would I be available then? I answered no, and explained again that I would need to schedule a time at least a week out because my own work schedule tended to fill up. I named several specific dates and times that I would be available the following week, and said that I was currently very flexible the week after that. A couple of days later he responded, asking about a time for the following day that I was clearly not available. I again stressed the importance of scheduling a time in advance so that I would actually be home, and listed some times and dates that were open on my schedule for the following week, noting again that my schedule was widely open after that. He waited until the day before one of these days to contact me again, at which point I had already penciled in another obligation. Nevertheless I made the time available, and lo and behold, he didn't show up. At this point I basically gave up trying to schedule time with this contractor. A few months later, knowing that my mother was doing some remodeling at her house, I figured I would ask if I could transfer the coupon to her, as she might be more able to work with this guy than I am. I asked, and the answer I got was that they would provide a crew of 2 men for 4 hours but since it was out of their driving radius of 35 miles, they would have to charge an additional $70 for gas. I checked the distances between this provider's location and my mother's house, and it was 40 miles. The distance between the provider and my house was 34 miles. I wrote this off as another unfortunate example of a contractor who publishes a Big Deal and then realizes that he doesn't feel like honoring it, and asked Angie's List for a refund.

Response from Delauro Remodeling & Repair Co
Misleading review and grade! We make every effort to respond and schedule customers in a business like manner. Some customers are very busy and if you don't meet there needs there not happy, thus this upsetting unfair review. We called and emailed this customer and she did give us availability dates and we responded back trying to accommodate. We emailed and called about on a date that was give and received no response back. We emailed and called again and received no response what so ever period. When customers don't respond after repeated tries we put them on hold till we hear back from them and start over the scheduling process, and also accommodate customers that are busy. The next time this customer responded back there was no mention of any issues with are so called poor response or scheduling or anything else, except to swap the coupon with her mother. We told her that we would do it again to accommodate her but we have a distance limit and would have to charge a fee for time and fuel because she lived over 35 miles from us. She responded back unhappy and wrote this unfounded review because of that disagreement. Thanks for the opportunity to respond to this review, we take are business very serous and carry a A RATING because of hard work and quality service. Thank You Delauro Remodeling Inc.

Dan was punctual and did a fantastic job. I told him he is our new handyman.
Description of Work: Dan was out earlier for a handyman service call, special offer by Angie's List. He did a great job! We asked him about our electrical in the garage and he said he would come back to fix the hanging wires, etc. He offered us a great price, and we were thrilled. He came back a week later and fixed our electrical problem. It looks great, no more hanging wires. He is quite meticulous.

We chose DeLauro because he had A ratings and Dan said he could do the jobs performed above and also repair & paint the stucco on front of our Tudor home. We also wanted a quote for removing wallpaper and painting an inside hallway. He also was offering a 4 hours of work special for $325. In my first call to Dan he says to email what I need and then he will call me back. In my email to him I included 2 pictures of the front of the house so he could see all the areas needing work. This is an up/down duplex with walk-in 3rd floor attic, so it is quite high. We've had painters and contractors who would not work that high, so I wanted Dan to see what he was working with. After several days I don't hear from Dan and I call him back. He apologizes for not getting back to me and says they can do the job but he wants to send someone out to take a look. So Dan sends out a young man on his crew to take more pictures and assess what might be needed. Afterwards I spoke to Dan and asked him to give me an estimate of the costs. The following Monday he calls and wants to come out Tuesday, also saying he needs to see some things in person before he can give an final estimate. We agree that he and his crew (Dan and 2 others, including the young man) will come on Thursday. He also gently pushes for us to agree to let them do the hall painting as well so they can have a full day of work, thinking they will finish the railing work and electrical in 4 hours. I said no, that I need an estimate to show to the co-owners of the house. He further teases me with "what if the price is good," can we do the painting? I say "we'll see." They arrive on time at 8:30 am Thursday and soon discover that they do not have a long enough ladder to do the stucco work. Dan immediately tells me they don't do a lot of outside work, and if he had known it was that high he would have rented a ladder. Then he notices that there is stucco work above the metal awning over our front door, and says no way could they do that without some scaffolding. I told him that's why I sent the pictures, plus he had a crew member here. Dan apologizes saying the young man is not very experienced. I am very unhappy at this point, but we agree that they will prep and paint the railing, and he will go to a nearby Home Depot to buy the new hand railing to be installed. While the others paint, Dan installs the railing and then does the electrical work, finishing close to 3 pm. So much for painting the hallway. The painting and electrical work was very good, but I don't think Dan knew much about installing metal railings. It took him longer than he expected, and it wasn't as solid as we'd expected. I think Dan agreed to quickly to do this job, knowing that they don't do much outside work. And he should have come out himself to see what was needed in the first place, so he could realistically plan and give an accurate estimate. He lives in Novelty and we're in Rocky River, so that may be part of the reason. I'm sorry I didn't stop working with him early on when he didn't respond to my email and didn't send the requested estimate. I learned a lesson- to go with my instincts and not be swayed by A ratings. By the way, as Dan was leaving with my check in hand he said he would send an estimate for the hallway painting. That was 8/15 and today is 8/26. Do you think he will send one?
Description of Work: Replaced 2 old wall plugs to 2 new grounded ones ($200). Prepped, primed and painted a long iron porch railing in front of house. Purchased, installed, and painted a 6 foot metal hand railing for cement steps leading to same porch. ($615)

Response from Delauro Remodeling & Repair Co
Very Unfair Rating, The pictures that were emailed to me were no help in estimating the job and the small areas to which she thought needed repair, turn out to be cracking and flaking paint throughout, not to mention the secondary area never mentioned above a awning that was even more difficult to get to. There was no mention to me of the height of the peak and that others didn't want the job. We do alot of exterior work including exterior painting but mainly 1 story structures. We wanted to take care of her needs but are 25 ft ladder wasn't adequate for the job. We assed the painting and gave a verbal quote to do the work at a later date, to which she seemed to like. So we agreed to 2 men 4 hours of service deal to paint 30 ft. of metal railing. We had a 30 year veteran painter there to do the job right and it took almost 6hours for them to sand, prime and paint the railing, with no extra cost for labor & materials. $265 A great deal. The new railing that was picked up and delivered as well as 2 post and hardware, had to be bent to match the angle of the stairs and bevel cut to fit the post. The post had to be anchored in concrete and be safe. cost $350 very reasonable, which is what she wanted. The rest of the work we did was also well done and we worked hard with only a 15 minute break to eat something. You get A Rated for good work, experience and skill you provide your customers. If we missed a call back or if there is any problem whatsoever 1 call is all it takes for us to make it right. Thank You for allowing us respond to this review. DeLauro Remodeling Inc.

It was fine. They came out shortly after I purchased them. I spent more than the cost of the big deal, would say around $1200 total. He took the time he needed to get the job done. It was a bigger job than he thought it was originally but he came back for a few days to finish it up.

It went very well. Dan DeLauro exceeded expectations. He and his crew completed the job to my satisfaction, were polite, worked carefully, respected my furnishings and were easy to have in the house. They even finished a day earlier than expected. I would gladly hire him again and probably will. As to price, it was a big hit for me, but fair. I checked out a site beforehand that gave low - high estimates for square footage of painting and Dan's price (without patching) was in the middle.

I purchased a coupon via "BIg Deal". Dan Delauro contacted me right after my purchase to schedule an appointment. The work was done at our rental property. We hope to make improvements in the home to put it on the market. Dan met me at the property right on time; was very professional. Work was scheduled within a couple of days. He arrived on time; work was done in a timely manner. He was very helpful in advising me of what he felt should be done and what appeares to be fine as it was. He sees a lot more homes than I do, so I very much appreciated his honest evaluation. He offered to help us with future projects at our rental property as well as our condo. I would not hesitate to hire him for other projects.

I used an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was okay, nothing great. He went through the list and spent about 6 hours here. After that he said he would give us a quote for the two or three things that he did not finish but we have not heard back from him since. His work was fine and he did minor things like putting a shelf on the wall, mounting the flat screen TV on the wall and replacing a couple of electric switches. He was here when he said he would be and he did the job within a week after I contacted him. He also was going to put in a new sink, but I was going to have to buy the sink.
Description of Work: I used Delauro Remodeling & Repair to work on a list of things we wanted done around the house. He took care of most of them, but some he could not take care of other things because he said they would not be part of the deal and would be a separate contract, such as putting an exhaust fan into a bathroom. When he mounted the flat screen TV into the wall we wanted the cable hidden, but he said he would have to come back and do it because it would not be part of the Big Deal .

/He was very pleasant. He explained what he was doing. He was through and made sure there were no leaks. He made a trip to a hardware store to get a part. Because the sales person at the hardware store did not return all the parts he had to make another trip to a closer store to get the part he needed. The leak was absolutely stopped. I am pleased for the success. The cost was a surprise. I had arranged for a special offer of $99.00 for two hours. I asked what the estimate would be and he quoted $50.00. He worked for three hours. I thought the charge was too high. I am sure the parts did not cost $50.00. It wasn't clear what the estimate included. Next time I will ask. Even so, the leaks are gone.
