Description of Work: Provider requests email communication, but doesn't look at his email and therefore doesn't respond or have information he needs, like directions to the location. When we finally connected by phone, the next available appointment to look at the work to be done was about three weeks out. We were scheduled to meet between 9 and 10 at my mother's house. At 10:15, I called him to find out what was going on. He said he had left a message on my Voice Mail to let me know he couldn't come until afternoon because it had rained the day before and he was behind on a job. When I checked, he had left a message, but not until 8:40, after both my sister and I were already on our way. So, then he said he'd be at the house between 1 and 2. Around 2:15 he called and asked for directions because his GPS couldn't find the address. He arrived about 3 and looked at the work to be done - taking no notes or measurements. Recommendations included replacing deteriorated bricks below the bottom step of the front porch with cement and simply filling in a door opening with bricks. While he was walking around, he paid no attention to where he was putting his feet in the flower beds. The job included some other minor repairs, and I thought it likely it would require more than the 8 manhours purchased with the Big Deal. So I asked for an estimate of time beyond the eight hours, but he said he'd provide that once he had finished the hours covered by the coupons. While his solutions would probably have been okay stucturally, we were not convinced he had the best solutions or that we could work with someone so careless with other people's time and landscaping. So we consulted another mason, who ultimately won the job. His solution was to clean out the deteriorated material on the porch and replace it with two courses of brick. On the door opening, he removed some brick around the perimeter of the opening so the new bricks could be feathered in and there would not be a rectangular seam where the door had been. As a result, anyone looking at the house now probably would never know where the door had been.

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal coupon for $99 for four hours of masonry work from Matt's Home Improvements last Aug. We set up three different appointments with him, the latest being 6/14/13 and the contractor failed to show and never called us on any of the three occasions to explain why. We had to always call him to ask and to reschedule the appointment. The work was never begun.

Description of Work: Firstof all it was imposible to get hold of Matthew Mcculler as his phone mail box was full or not accepting any massages. I nhad to call angie,s customer servive and they got hold of him. he did call me and setup an appointment to meetme on 5/6/2013 but never showed up. he reschaduled it for following thursday and again failed to shw up. he left a massage on my voie mail that he was sorry and promised to come and complete work friday morning. as of to he still has not shown up to do the work

Description of Work: I contacted Matt via email and set up an appontment, which required a 1 month wait. Prior to the visit I emailed Matt explaining what needed to be done and he agreed it would fall within the scope. A few days prior I emailed and asked what materials he needed me to get. There was no response. When he arrived he said I needed both grout and adhesive and he hadn't checked his email for a while. We set a new date and on the day of the appointment he called and said he was stuck at a job and couldn't make it. We discussed another date, Monday the 22nd. I told him I would check my schedule and get back to him. I called back and he said he would be there between 10-11. He never showed. I called in the afternoon and got no answer. I called back on Tuesday and he did not remember that we had spoken and said he was still waiting to hear from me. At this point I am not comfortable that he can perform this job and I really do not want to invite him back. I would like to arrange a refund for the big deal coupon. He had ample opportunity to complete the job and I have no further time to waste. Perhaps if service could be arranged with another contractor we could proceed.

Description of Work: I purchased this masonry service as part of an Angie's Deal. For $99 I was supposed to get 4 hours of masonry work. The owner, Matt, did not respond on a timely basis to my emails. I finally reached him on the phone and he gave me an appointment to come see the needed work - the appointment was more than a month away and I was not happy about that! One month later, he did not show up for the appointment nor did he call or email. I finally reached him three days later and he said he would come out the next day. He was late, told my husband that he would get an estimate to us by the next day and now nearly a week later we have not heard from him. He should be removed from Angie's List as soon as possible and not permitted to return. Additionally, Angie should vet these special offers as I saw that Matt had received several negative comments in the past.

Description of Work: Matt continued to reschule me for about 10 weeks. When he said he was coming he sent a friend of his. He did come the last hour or so and ask to be paid extra even though the total time was less than 8 hours. The work done was average.

Description of Work: Could not get hold of him for over a month because his mailbox was filled. When I finally got hold of him weather was getting crummy so he said he would call when a good day was available but after a week or so I would call him back and we would set another date and he said he would call when he had another opening, waited a week or so and called him back again, this went on about 5 times till weather got too late in season to do the work. Never got the work done, would like a refund, he was nice enough on the phone but I never got the work done and I would probably noy recommend him!

I called and asked if he would honor the big deal for plaster work I had and was told "No, it has expired." Just thought he might still be interested in the work. So no work was performed.

Description of Work: The ad on Angie's List and on the coupon I purchased was "Last chance $99 for 4 areas of carpet cleaning & Stain Protection or Deodorizing!" I had purchased the coupon for my father's home. Having had carpets cleaned numerous times before, I interpretted the ad to mean they would clean 4 rooms and -- in this case -- apply a stain protector afterwards. But the fellow who cleaned the carpets told us that what the ad reallly meant was they would pre-treat spots prior to cleaning, and if we wanted stain protection, it would be an additional charge. Consequently, we did not opt for the staim protection, and the carpet is already showing some areas of dirt. We had already paid additionally for cleaning of some stairs. I truly believe this is an instance of false advertising...and perhaps also a ploy to add to the cost of what the consumer believes to be already included in the service. Stain protection is not the same as pre-treating stains ( which is generally included by the cleaner).

Description of Work: I hired Matt to fix some cosmetic masonry work (a few stones had come loose) on the approach to my front door. My project was not a big job, hence I had difficulty getting Matt`s committment to schedule a time to do the actual work given the other bigger jobs he had going. After 2 months, when th3 work did get scheduled, from what I could see hed did a fine job in three hours on this small project.
