Guy and his crew were very friendly and professional. They worked amazingly quick, tearing out the old driveway and preparing it for the new concrete within a single day. They didn't seem bothered by my questions and took the time to explain the work they were doing and why.
Description of Work: Tore out old driveway and replaced with poured concrete. Rebuilt and reconnected driveway drain system and crock. Tied in gutter downspout to drain system.

I have waited a little while before I wrote this review to be sure of the results. Everything went great ! We have had several big rains, even snow, and absolutely no problems in the basement. Also, with their methods I think my basement feels a little warmer. They were very professional. They covered all the grass with plywood so it didn't get all torn up, which was something I was a little concerned about. I did not want a big clean up problem after they left. I had a the rocks put all the way to the top and I think it looks fine. With a few bushes no one will even see it and...no weeds. Even if I didn't hide it I think it still looks good the way it is. The Campea family seemed very nice !! I don't expect any problems but I feel that if I did have a problem thye would be very responsive. I would highly recommend them.

I bought this home to retire in. I had a white powdery mold in my basement due to the high humidity. The only long term cure for killing the mold was removing the water source. The drain pipes next to my foundation had clogged with clay and the moisture was coming through the walls and the floor. The smell in the basement of mold would actually burn your nose. From the expansive clay, one wall was pushed approximately 3" or more and another wall was pushed in about 1" near the end of the wall. I have been a buyer for construction materials for a distributor that has approximately 60 employees for approximately 30 years. I buy waterproofing materials to sell to contractors. Since this is a very expensive project and I am a professional buyer, I spent the summer getting 16 qualified quotations from basement waterproofing contractors. The quotes ranged from $11,000 to $30,000. I learned more about waterproofing basements from the 16 contractors than I ever wanted to know. In the end there were 3 contractors that I had on my short list. I went with Guy Campea because of his 35 years of personal experience, price, and method of waterproofing. There are two methods of waterproofing: exterior and interior. EXTERIOR METHOD- contractor excavates outside the basement down to the foundation and replaces the drain pipes that lead to the storm sewer on the street which are usually clogged with clay and the water has no place to go but into your basement. Then he applies a waterproofing to the walls. Then backfills the excavated ground with #57 washed and dried stone. This prevents the water from coming in your walls, going under your foundation and coming thru the floors. INTERIOR METHOD- a contractor jackhammers the perimeter of the basement floors, installs drain pipe, installs sump tank below basement floor, and installs sump pumps to pump the water out of the sump tank. Problem with the interior system is that it continues to allow the water to come under the foundation which will eventually destroy the foundation and eventually destroy your walls. Then you must replace your basement walls, which is extremely expensive. Guy Campea and his two sons started on a Tuesday and were done on Thursday afternoon. They used bell jacks to push the walls back into position. Then drilled 4" circles into the top of the block and poured concrete and installed rebar intothe block cells every 4 feet to the footer to strengthen the walls. They worked very hard and smart. No wasted motions. Our neighbors were amazed as to how clean they left our yard when they were done. They were easy to work with. Before I hired them I checked out 3 of their references. I highly recommend them.

Guy Campea and his sons were excellent! We are very satisfied with their work product and in our experience with them. Campea and Sons worked on our home last November. Before Campea, we either suffered water in our basement in the form of rivers and streams networking across the floor every time it rained, drizzled, or if Mother Nature just spit. I, particularly, justifiably or not, felt unsafe using our dryer in wet weather. Since the completion of their work our home has been 100% dry. We knew we had a failed weeping wall or interior "water control system", there were pressure cracks developing on our foundation wall, and suspected a blocked drain from tree roots. After careful research and assessment by several contractors, we chose Campea and Sons. They gave an honest and accurate assessment, and did not try to oversell us. They were sensitive to our needs throughout the whole process, especially when we had last minute changes. They adapted and completed quality work. Our basement is now comfortable and I feel relaxed and safe working there. We found Campea and Sons to be no-fuss, cooperative, high quality, and overall an excellent company to work with. As a side note: The year before our house was fixed, our elderly neighbor's family had her whole driveway and back patio replaced. It turned out beautiful. Maybe a week or so later this company was back taking it all out and putting back an entirely new patio and driveway, again. Our elderly neighbor's daughter told us that the company was not satisfied with the quality of cement they originally worked with. The company promptly changed suppliers, and opted to complete the project a second time just as beautifully as the first time. That company was Campea and Sons. A true testament to their standards.
Description of Work: We had the south and east walls of our home excavated and waterproofed, drain tiles replaced, and sump pump drain lines reset..

Last November 2014, Mr Campea and Sons, removed the 3 layers of asphalt and discovered a cracked sewage pipe, which they removed and installed a new pipe. Removal, preparations were done the first day. On second day, they poured the cement and applied the first seal. Mr Campea advised that we do not use a snowplow truck in the winter to allow the cement to mature and become stronger. He mentioned to come back about a year later to do the 2nd seal, which he did on October 11, 2015. They were efficient, timely, and responsive. Our friends and family commented on how beautiful our driveway looked and how well done it was. Some asked for their phone number. Another plus, is that the price to install the cemented driveway last November was within our budget and very reasonable. We were pleased with their work and called them to do the seal of the driveway this year. Mr. Campea took the time to assess their work last year and was pleased to see how well it all held up through the very hard winter.
Description of Work: Mr. Campea came and sealed our circular driveway. He and his sons installed our cemented circular driveway last November 2014.

Guy was awesome to work with. He kept in constant communication and was very professional and knowledgable. He and his crew tore out and set up for the cement in one day (including the water proofing). It took one other day to pour. Once it sets, he will be back to seal it. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone. They were also very neat, cleaning up behind them whenever they finished for the day. I've seen other jobs in the area where sidewalks were replaced and big chunks of concrete were left outside the forms in the margins. That was not the case here.
Description of Work: Replaced driveway and large cement pad behind house. Also water proofed basement on driveway side. They also removed a large cement pad from beside the garage.

One day to removed old driveway and sidewalk, and when weather permitted came back and completed new cement work in 1 day. This is a hard working family owned business. They are good at what they do, and have been doing it for years. Got their name from work across the street they did 6 years ago. The guy a few doors down also came over and hired them to add to their driveway. Am satisfied with them, and their work and would hire again.

Campea & Sons should have a video made of them in action. There was no wasted motion, the most efficient concrete company I have ever seen. They arrived on a Tuesday and removed all concrete and set the forms in less than 4 hours. By next 5 pm the next day, all work was beautifully finished and complete. Friendly and efficient, I cannot say enough about this family run operation.

Dependant on weather (it is the concrete business) they came as expected. They arrived early and worked until the job was completed. Here until close to 7:00 PM on the first day. Came back today and poured the concrete, finished it, and stripped the forms. He used a higher sack count concrete than was quoted, and they did a beautiful job. I asked about leveling a section of sidewalk for me and they lifted it, and leveled it at no additional cost. Good company and a nice people. I would definitely recommend them. I have had nothing but great compliments on how beautiful the finishing on the driveway and sidewalk was done. They are truly artists with the concrete.

Father and two sons removed old driveway in a day, returned next day to pour cement, finish job. Sons cursed and used coarse language, prompting neighbor from behind to come over and ask them to keep it down because she had young children who didn't need to hear such language. The day they put in the driveway (summer of 2013) was a very hot (90 degree+) day and cement dried quickly... so quickly that they didn't impress seam down the middle of the drive but instead cut the seam. Also, trim around perimeter was not finished in several spots. Father returned to seal the driveway after several weeks. ///// That winter, snowplow truck knocked a couple of chunks out of the driveway. Campea and sons replaced damaged section of driveway - snowplow service paid for the work. ////// This Spring we noticed a number of pock marks (like tiny pot holes) in the surface of the concrete and called Campea to examine and explain while the surface had deteriorated so much. We set a date for him to reseal the driveway. He asked me to power wash the driveway before the sealing was applied, which I did. It took me four hours. I told him the pockmarks on the driveway looked terrible and should not have occurred. "What else do you want me to do?" he asked. I felt like saying, "Do the driveway over, but do it right this time." But I didn't say it. While there are some pock marks throughout the driveway, near the front there is a section about 31/2 feet in diameter that is completely chipped. In fact, when I was power washing the section, the section chipped even more. When he arrived to reseal the driveway, he accused me of lying about the power washing. "You did not clean this driveway" he said. He also said the pock marking was because "you used too much salt on the driveway." I told him we did not use any salt on the driveway and further, no heavy snowplow trucks were used because we had the driveway and walk done by hand blowers after the damage caused by the snowplows during the first winter. I told him that I had powerwashed the driveway and, in fact, it had taken me 4 hours to do the job. He blew and I vacuumed debris on the drive left from the power washing. While I was getting the vacuum, he said to my wife, "What, do you think I'm stupid? This wasn't cleaned." We had a further brief exchange about the cleaning, while he was spraying the seal on the driveway. I definitely would not recommend Campea Construction.

Response from Campea & Sons Construction Inc
This driveway was installed in 2013. Mr. [removed member's name] rehired us again in 2014 to replace a small damaged area of concrete. He hired a snowplow service; the snowplow service chipped a few areas of concrete with the snowplow. We advised Mr. [removed member's name] not to replace the apron, walk and a small area by the garage because the damage was small, but he wanted to have it redone, the insurance company for the snowplow company paid to have it redone. If Mr. [removed member's name] was not satisfied with the quality and all the other concerns he addressed in this review he would not rehire us and yet he did. There was a misunderstanding in the words used by our firm. The driveway was dirty and it did not look that it had been cleaned. That is what we observed when we saw the driveway; we did not call Mr. [removed member's name] a liar. We offered an apology if your member misinterpreted, but your member did not accept our apology. Mr. [removed member's name] was also aware of the fact that we are at least 45 to an hour drive to his residence, that would be two hour driving to and back. Your member could have called us and said the drive is not clean to reschedule. The sealer we applied cost $200 for each five gallon cans and we applied two cans of five gallon. We did not charge for installation, trip fee and for the sealer. The following listed concerns occurred on the first concrete installation of 2013, first concern is that we did not finish an area of edging; there was one small area that we could not edge due to overgrown scrubs that made it impossible to get to, Mr. [removed member's name] said he did not want us to remove the scrubs. Also mentioned that we hand cut some of the drive and saw cut one area, there is no wrong in doing both cuts. Another concern stated that the two brothers were loud and swore at the job site. When communicating they need to speak loud so they can be heard over the power buggy and the concrete truck. If there were any swear words our firm and the brothers sincerely apologize and this is the second apology by the brothers and our firm, the first was over two years ago. The last concern was the temperature of the day we finished the drive. On warmer days we have the concrete supplier add retarder to the mix to slow the drying process that allows us to have more time to finish the concrete during warmer temperatures. The low of the day on July 16, 2013 was 75 degree and the high was 89 degree. We poured early in the morning, which would have been closer to 75 degree to 80 degree. We pour year round from March to November. Some pop outs occurred on a couple of sections during the winter of 2014/2015 on the original concrete poured in 2013. We recommend sealing driveways on a yearly basis at least for the first three years depending on the sealer chosen, after three years, every two to three years. We have the concrete receipts the job was completed per building codes and inspected by the building department. From our observation of the few sections that pop outs occurred, indicates usage of deicers and freeze/thaw cycles of North East Ohio. It was agreed to no fault of ours to provide a service to Mr. [removed member's name] for choosing us and choosing us again for his concrete service the following year that Mr. [removed member's name] would clean the drive and we would apply a coat of sealer at no cost to your member. We applied a coat of sealer in 2013 and there was no sealer applied in 2014. If Mr. [removed member's name] would have preferred us to replace the couple of sections we would have replaced the sections and he could have hired his own contractor to apply the sealer for him. We agreed on resealing the driveway at no cost to him. On each and every job we complete we put all our heart, mind and strength in every job. Mr. [removed member's name], we hope we have addressed all your concerns. The Campea’s

The patio is simply amazing. They did an excellent job of designing the shape and color with some very vague descriptions from my wife and I. I could not be happier with how it all turned out. It took one day to grade and prep the area, another day to pour and stamp, and one last trip to seal the concrete. Will definitely use them again for my next project, The only minor complaint was how long it took to get the work done. We signed a contract in June and because of the weather it didn't get done until the end of October. It was tough getting an updated schedule from them.

It went well once started. Due to busy schedule and a really wet spring work was delayed. It was worth the wait to have everything done properly. Once stated, the efficiency was amazing with everything done within three days. Several other people in our development had work by these folks as well. They are in demand so expect a wait. We have received several compliments on the new driveway.

We had an appointment at 1:30 on Sunday, July 19th for an estimate for concrete work. The provider, Campea and Sons, did not show up so we called. The appointment was set at 1:30PM that is true. Your member did not plan his entire day for us; the appointment for your member was set on his time. Originally our firm stated between 11:00am and 2:00pm and your member wanted a precise time. We agreed on 1:30PM because he had plans before 1:30PM so he certainly did not wait for us. Your member did not follow up, that is false; we called your member at 1:35pm. Our firm always advises your members that we will call when we are on our way and that is what we did. There is no possible exact time we can estimate on how long it takes to measure and write up an estimate. We scheduled five estimates on Sunday July 19th. We were honest with your member and they took it the wrong way. We called your member to discuss the review that was posted of our company and your member stated that I wasted a call; he did not want to talk to me.

I received many quotes for this job, and chose to go with Campea because the owner, Guy, seemed genuine and trustworthy. I am so glad that I chose to work with them, as I'm not sure other contractors would have worked with me on the price once the extent of my home's issues were exposed. Campea worked with me to keep the job priced fair and to do the work right. They arrived on time, and, for the most part, cleaned up the job site in full. They did not skimp on digging, or on using the right products. I was interested in following their work on the outside of my home to understand the extent of the issues. They showed me multiple cracks which corresponded with what I could see on the interior of the home. They are solid craftsmen who understand their trade and do what it takes to get the job done right. Since their work was completed, I have not had any further water entry issues in my basement. I would use them again to complete work. My only complaint is that it is a little hard to get a hold of the owner. I have had to leave message after message, but he will eventually call back. I guess they are just so busy he is slow to respond? However, he is aware of how to do good business and will eventually get back to you.
Description of Work: I contracted with Campea with the understanding of needing a new concrete patio replacement and one side of my home waterproofed. However, once Campea began the job it became clear that the drain tiles were completely clogged around my home, and 3 sides of the home had to be dug up in order to free the water flow.

Our firm is sorry if we caused your member any inconvenience. We believe there was a misunderstanding between your member and our firm. Your member called us on May 21, 2015, our firm offered a Friday appointment after 7:00pm, May 22, or a Saturday appointment, May 23rd, between 3:00pm and 5:00pm, both times were no good for your member. Your member requested a Tuesday after 7:00pm, May 26th, appointment the day after the Memorial Day weekend because he said he would be out of town. Since the work schedule for the following week was not planned, it was made clear by our firm that we would call the day of May 26th, if we could provide your member a free estimate for his driveway. We are a family owned and operated business and we provide our own estimates plus construct the jobs, so our evening appointment are based on when we complete the job for the day; May 26th our end of the day ended at 9:00pm, which made it too late to provide any estimates. Your member rated our firm an (F) for responsiveness, our firm returned the phone call the same day your member called. They did not do an adequate job. They poured the grade completely wrong, so my car drags whenever you enter or exit the driveway. They blamed me for that for some reason, because they didn't know what they were doing. They just did a horrible job all the way. He was argumentative. Their price was the same as everybody else but they did a terrible job. I tell everybody who would listen to never use them again.

Everything written on this report is false. The contracted price was $14,000 not $16,000, signed proposal on file. Also the date of completion that was reported by your member states the driveway was completed 9-25-2014, driveway was constructed on 10-14-2013, concrete receipts on file a year difference. A proposal is on file to replace and add on to the existing driveway a total square feet of 3044, job included driveway, apron, walk and a curb on one side of driveway. Building permits were obtained and a pre pour inspection passed. We removed 100 yards additional dirt to lower the grade that was not in the contract and did not charge extra. We advised your member that the grade that needed to be achieved would require an additional excavating of 12 to 18 inch deep and a retaining wall would need to be built to support the earth from falling. Your member insisted that he did not want a retaining wall and proceeded to complete the job the way your member instructed us to. Your member did not follow our recommendation.

Contracted with CAMPEA & Sons construction 0n 4/9/15 to install a new driveway & apron. They arrived on 4/24/15 and removed the old concrete slabs & prepared the ground surface, which included tamped-down gravel & wire mesh, to accept the new concrete. They were efficient & their work was flawless. Because of all that, the final result is extremely attractive and, I have no doubt, it will be durable. They are definitely experts at all facets of their business. If I need concrete work in the future, I'll hire them again, no question about it. They do a great job at a very fair price.

Went very well overall. Guy was on time, his crew worked very hard removing the old gravel driveway, forming, and laying the new concrete. The only problem was the concrete company showing up late, Guy had a hard time getting a supplier since it was a prime pouring day and the suppliers were overwhelmed. When the truck showed up, I think they were from Medina and had a long haul, the concrete was very hard to work with. Guy and his crew worked feverishly pouring and finishing because the concrete was setting so fast. There's a couple of lines that aren't quite straight but not really noticeable, I commend these guys for the great job they did under these conditions and I would recommend Campea & Sons. One last thing, I was impressed that they followed up 3 months later to make sure I applied a penetrating sealer which I had already done a couple of weeks previously. They're an old-school company that takes pride in their work.

One day was devoted to removal of old cement drive way and side walks. Guy and his two sons have all the equipment needed to do this properly and efficiently. Then form boards were installed to form and hold cement along with wire mesh and stone base was compacted. They go to great length to protect my lawn from damage by their equipment by laying plywood paths and splash guards to protect foundation during installation of cement. Several days latter came cement pouring day which shows their mastery of the process. Like a finely time ballet of carting, pouring, troweling, smoothing the concrete. Followed by installation of expansion joints and fine texturing of the surface to a handsome finish, I am most impressed. Sealant was applied on the same day and I payed Guy for a second application as required several weeks later. A year and a half latter and every thing is still in great shape.
Description of Work: Guy Compea gave me the estimate and informative details on cement installation. He measured the drive way and sidewalks. He answered my questions in detail, though I had to clarify what I heard. His (Greek) accent means listening carefully and asking to clarify if needed.
