Advanced Masonry was one of five contractors I contacted about my chimney repair need. It was quite a learning experience for me. Tony did not try to sell me on a higher priced chimney liner even when I asked him about it since the other bidders had indicated it was critical. He assured me I did not need it and when I saw the old liner I was so appreciative of his honesty in this matter that saved me several hundred dollars.
Description of Work: These guys are great. They gave me the lowest of three bids, did more work than the other bidders agreed to do, and did exactly what they told me they would do without any complications. My chimney looks so much better and I am sure will function much better. The crew was punctual, professional, and just top notch. I asked to save the old bricks from my chimney and they stacked them up for me in a corner of my yard, wow. Their experience and expertise was obvious. Now I am looking forward to having them do some limestone patio work for me.

Tony did a good job. I feel the price was reasonable for all the work that was done. After finishing this work, we had him do similar work at my mom's house. And we were also pleased with his work there.

Our home is a large two floor plus full attic home with a one floor addition off the back. In order to reach the chimney, they had to build the scaffold on the addition roof. This meant disengaging a down spout. The chimney was well build in two days, every thing was cleaned up so that you wouldn't have know that they were there. They reengaged the downspout but not correctly. Up to that time we had had more rain than most years, but we had had no damage. Within two week after the chimney was built, me had a lot of damage in our new bathroom and back hall. When we called and talked to the owner, he laughed. He thought it was a joke. We had a roofing company come over and they were the ones who found that the downspout had not been reattached correctly and that the water was streaming out of it and onto one place on the roof until it finally caused a problem. For this reason, I would never advise anyone to use advanced masonry. He could have come out and at least looked at the damage, not laugh at us. We are women in a home and don't need any added expenses.

I cant believe what i'm reading. I would never laugh about a bad situation, this is simply not true. Our responsiveness to these people was immediate, which is unusual especially with such a rainy season as our schedule was out the window all season. The member definatly got special attention. She said the job was well done & cleaned up as if we were not there. This much is true. This was an especially difficult job due to the break in roofs, the height & pitch of the roof where the chimney was located & was a tall free standing chimney. The job was also discounted because of her position as a single mom w an adult daughter at home. When & if I can, I do have a soft spot for people in difficult positions although I can't always, but she was afforded my soft spot. When I arrived to quote the job I explained that I would have to be on the neighbors property or the job would be much more difficult & would incur extra cost & her reply was the neighbor was a bad person, to put it nicely, use your imagination. She said the older man was a woman hater. After receiving an acceptance of my proposal I rang the neighbors bell, to request permission to be on his property, which I usually leave to the responsibilty of the customer. Turns out he was a real gentleman & allowed us to enter his property & was very understanding to the situation. The job was done efficiantly, professionlly, & clean. As for the down spout in question, I specifically remember this because of the ridiculous original installation. The downspout was coming out of one of the upper roof gutters, down to the lower roof where we scaffolded, and running free with no type of attachments to a lower gutter. A simple wind could have moved it & it was quite sometime before I received a call. That downspout was put back exactly the way it was. We are not gutter installers & if we did anything to damage it, I would send a gutter installer to take care of it. Just because something was a particular way for a long time does't make it right & if something happened doesn't make it our fault. This could have happened at any time. Seems to me because I happened to be there you are using me as a fall guy for an improper installation from day one. That downspout was litterally just sitting on the roof with no fasteners running approx. 12' & dumping into the lower gutter & not fastened in any way. the proper install was not just a simple fix or I would have fixed it as a courtesy. Sometimes in life you get a customer who just is not a happy person & will put blame where ever they have opportunity. I welcome anyone to go look at that job , that most guys in this trade would not even accept due to the difficulty, and you judge. I was also told about every bad guy that did work there. I never laughed at the situation in any way and was also told it was taken care of or I would have gone & looked reguardless of who's fault it may have been. This job was also inspected by the city of parma one day after completion & was personally complimented by the inspector & that downspout was in plain view. I', sure if it was flowing beyond the gutter it would have been brought up no matter who's resposibility it was. Let me finish by saying, I'm sorry about your luck with previous contractors, but please don,t take it out on me, I do not undo other peoples shoddy work when it does not apply to my trade. I did the work i was contracted to do & everything we worked around was the way it was when we began. Scincerely & confidently Anthony Pisco

I'd highly recommend them. They were very professional in what they did. They actually took the chimney completely apart and rebuilt it. The house was built in 1965 and the bricks are a different size today so they took the chimney down to as low as the roof and built it up. They had to go in a half inch all the way around because of the dimension of the chimney and change in brick. They did a very good job and they explained why my chimney had deteriorated and it was because it had never had a proper cap on it.

Tony was very knowledgable about his product and services. He worked quickly to get the job done. Some damage was done to a gutter in the process tearing out the old patio. But Tony paid for the repair and kept calling MY gutter man repeatedly until it was fixed. The patio looks great and the drainage pattern appears to be doing what it is suppose to be doing. He was so helpful and polite I would go back to his company again.

They put up scaffolding that needed to be on our neighbor's drive. The owner came and directed the crew. They were prompt and courteous. The price charged was the same as their estimate, with a 20% senior discount. It would have been nice to have bricks that were the same size as the old bricks.
Description of Work: Bricks were bulging out of the flashing on our chimney. There was also considerable amounts of missing mortar. They replaced bricks above the flashing. There was an indentation between the older and newer bricks because the new bricks were not long enough. They did this work in one day. Another company said it would take 3 days.

Thank you for your positive report. Sorry about the brick size. This is common as standard brick back then were a true 8" & these days 7.5 , just like 2x4's used to be 2x4 now 1.5x3.5. I wish I could get them, it would make my job much easier.

I am very pleased with the results of the work they did on the chimney. They were able to do the job on fairly short notice on a day that was very convenient for me, and they finished the job in one day. The only issue was that they spilled or dumped approximately 75 lb. of mortar mix over about a 3' x 3' area on my treelawn. I didn't notice it until I was mowing a couple of days later. It's very dense and doesn't move easily. It took about and hour and a half of hard raking that took up most of the grass along with the mortar mix. As I said, the results of the work were very good--just be sure to take a thorough look around as they're wrapping up.

Im very sorry about the tree lawn. If someone just called & let me know, I would have immediately sent someone to clean it up or would have come myself. I recall the member was a good person to work for & can't apologize enough. Actually the employee that was there mixing cement has been terminated & was a very short term employee. Still, no excuse. I'm glad everything else was satisfactory & the roof & yard were cleaned up as should be.Member, if you ever need anything in the future I hope you would call us.

On the initial visit, to make an estimate, I received a very good explanation of options for doing the repairs, and their different costs. I decided what would work for my budget. For the work, they came on time, behaved in a cordial and professional manner, and cleaned up afterward. I am very satisfied and would call them again.
Description of Work: My century home has a foundation of very large sandstone blocks. One of the blocks had rotated sot that there was a hole large enough for a mouse or chipmunk to get in. A couple of other stones were out of alignment. The block was rotated back to where it was supposed to be, and the stones were also lined up correctly. Bricks were laid behind the wall to hold it in place.

Anthony Pisco of Advance Masonry & Full Chimney Service provided the estimate, supervised the work and participated in the work. The crew of three and Tony started promptly in the morning and worked through the whole day. The rebuilt chimney looks great. All debris was hauled away and everything was cleaned up nicely. I was charged the quoted amount. $2800 was quite reasonable for the amount of work involved. Everyone worked together well. They worked efficiently and professionally.
Description of Work: Chimney was rebuilt from the roof up including all new brick, two new chimney tiles, cement crown, and two hats. Aluminum safety liner was installed. The connection between two gas furnaces and a water heater and the safety liner in the chimney was rebuilt.

I called Tony for an estimate on getting some foundation work done. We set up a 10am appointment. At 12pm I called and Tony's response was "I was just about to call. I had a late night yesterday." I told him not to bother; we wouldn't need his services and he hung up. It seems this experience wasn't the norm for others. In fact, we called Tony because of the good reviews from other AL members. Maybe I just got him on a bad day. Certainly I can't speak to the quality of his work. But the service before the sale--at least in this case--was definitely lacking. UPDATE: I read Tony's response. If expecting a contractor to show up for an appointment (or call if he's running late) is "unreasonable," then I am guilty as charged! His claim that he called and I wasn't there is simply untrue.

The company's owner arrived as promised for the "estimate" and when we examined the nature of the problem with our home's foundation it didn't require the type service this company does. It was a good experience. They came out quickly and gave us a quick estimate. They were able to get to work right away. They worked with the insurance company to verify some things because the insurance company was a little bit hesitant because of the price. They called the insurance company and talked to them. The insurance company was then willing to go ahead and pay for the repairs. They were good people to work with. They came back a couple of times to make sure that everything was okay. The owner was here the whole time that the work was being done. I was very happy with them. It was expensive.

We recently purchased a house and the inspector told us we needed a chimney liner and crown repairs. We called them to clean and inspect both of our chimneys. The chimney cleaning and inspection took less than an hour. The did a great job cleaning and were very careful to ensure none of the carpeting or furniture got dirty. Tony came to do the inspection. They were on time, friendly, and went through everything thoroughly with us. They determined the brickwork and mortar was bad. They gave us a quote to rebuild both chimneys from the roof up and install a liner for the furnace chimney. We decided to get a second opinion.

Tony and his crew did an excellent job. They completely removed my existing porch stairs, patio veneer and chimney and then replaced them. They removed the old brick and mortar without leaving a mess. My yard did not suffer any damage from the process of hauling in and out lots of heavy brick and stones. Tony and his crew were always very considerate in the treatment of my home and my accessibility to my home and garage. I can't praise them enough. The brickwork looks beautiful.
Description of Work: My chimney, back porch stairs, front porch stairs and rear patio veneer were torn down and rebuilt. New matching brick was used. Also new sandstone platforms were installed in the front. Tony was able to cut down the original front sandstone platform to use on the back stairs in order to save me some money. My iron railings were also taken out and reinstalled.
