Tony was a pleasure to meet and you could tell he takes pride in his work and business. The work was top quality and fabricated onsite to ensure a custom fit.
Description of Work: The chimney was leaking into the firebox when it rained because the cover was rusted. Advance Masonry fabricated and installed new chase chimney cover.

'A complete waste of my time. Left a message on at least 3 occasions last month days apart with my information and contact info to a voicemail message requesting me to "Please be patient, I'll get back with you." When in 5 weeks or 5 months next summer? Obviously has more that enough business to be able to turn away good money. Don't even bother calling this number just look elsewhere to someone with enough business savvy to answer a phone or hire someone to do it for them. I hope it works out for you. I've already scheduled services from a Professional who answered the phone the first time I called. Imagine that.

Sorry, but the fact is I don't work in that area. I don't take every job or call. I do get an overwhelming amount of calls and have to decide which ones are in my area and which ones are just not feasable. We are a small company and do not just send anybody out on these jobs. We take pride in what we do.

My front steps have sandstone steps with bricks supporting them. The mortar was coming out from between the bricks and a couple of the bricks had come loose. Also the walkway at the bottom of the steps had sunk down. I had used Advanced Masonry before to do a chimney repair and I was very happy with the work, so I called them. Tony returned my call and came out and looked at the steps. He gave me what I thought was a reasonable estimate to repair the steps and replace two cement walkway sections and I agreed. The workers came at the stated time and performed the work. I'm not a mason, but it looked like a good job to me. I am pleased with the work done. I would use this company again, if needed.

Played some phone tag & also I only do quotes during my business hours. no more quotes at night or weekends. Sorry it didn't work out. People, if you want your car fixed, u bring it during business hours and pick it up during business hours and pay your bill. I cannot work to the whole worlds schedule. I do have a life outside my business. For those of you who don't understand that, oh well. My reputation speaks for itself & people who I performed no work for should keep their comments to themselves. I always have a full schedule & quote as many jobs as possible. I don't send out some bonehead salesman that never laid a brick in his life or worked in the trades as a journeyman. Sometimes I am just hard to get as I am that busy & my customer at hand comes first. I spend countless hours quoting jobs at my time, fuel &expense for free and sometimes to no avail. Try not to be so demanding especially when your not paying me. I say this with all do respect. Please read on to work performed. NO COMPLAINTS, IMAGINE THAT.

Advanced Masonary provided an estimate and advice for the work needed. After exceptance of the quote Tony notified me in advance when they would start work. I already left for work when Advance Masonary started the project and they were complete before I returned home. Tony from Advance Masonary called to let me no they were complete and that all went well. Due to the steep pitch of the roof and the location of the chimney the project was not as easy as it might sound. Advanced Masonary did a very good job, everything went as planned, thourgh clean up. I would use Advance Masonary again and would recommend the company to my friends!
Description of Work: The scope of work was to replace deteriated chimney crown and three flue liners. Tuckpoint where needed, and seal chimney.Advanced Masonary also replaced a broken brick at the peak of the house.

I have no idea if this company is capable of providing the services that they advertise because the owner, Tony, stood me up on the estimate. They have a lot of feedback and the pricing seems reasonable based on other members experiences so even after reading a number of negative reviews about being unprofessional I called three times to get Tony on the phone once. We talked at length about exactly what I needed and he agreed stop by that afternoon to take a look at my chimney for an estimate. Because of the other feedback I specifically asked him to call me even if he got busy and wasn't able to make it, he gave me his word that he would. He "no call, no showed". I expect this type of behavior from 20 yr olds working their first job at a restaurant not a businessman. Three days gone by and I haven't heard a word from them even though I've called each day and left voicemails. This guy is a terrible businessman and does not respect his clients time. Based on my experience and similar reviews you're wasting your time calling him. There are plenty of other Masons eager for the business. I have no doubt that he will respond to my review with some lame contractor excuse about this being the busy season, lots of projects going on,blah blah blah.... If you don't have time to take on new business and post something that says so. ================================================================================================= UPDATE 4/30/14 Ordinarily I wouldn't dignify a response like this contractors with a reply however I find his dishonest posturing so repugnant that I really have no choice. Here's the bottom line: I called this contractor and he made an appointment to come over and give me an estimate... He never showed up. That's it, there were no maybes, he didn't say if he can get around to it, we had an appointment and he stood me up. The message hes referring to is the one right told him how unprofessional he was and that I was going to find another chimney company ( which I did on Angie's list was fantastic). So he didn't like the message? My chimney cleaning friend, I have a very simple solution to that.... It's an old cliché... Do onto others. You wouldn't want me wasting your time and jerking you around don't do it to Angie's list members or anyone for that matter.

no excuse. I didn't like the message that was left and decided it wasn't worth the aggrivation. Your review should mean absolutey nothing as my reviews for work performed are excellent. And i never said I would be there. Very discouraging to have some one we didn't do work for put out such an effort to smear my good name in this business. Good luck with all those masons that need a customer like you. I've been doing this long enough to know when to walk away with dignity and respect.

owner tried to change too much that made the job not possible in any way to what was quoted. sometimes it's smart to walk away from a losing battle. what was asked for and what was expected at the last minute was not reasonable. We are very busy and this job was bid close to a year before. It was a waste of my time that cost money to keep going back to get on the same page. I see it was failed to be mentioned that I was there 3 times at my cost.

When I first contacted the owner of Advance Masonry (Tony), he agreed to come out and take a look at it within the week. Since I work out of town and my wife works too, neither of us could be there; but when I got a text from him indicating that he'd been there I called him to discuss his conclusions. It took a couple days for him to call me back, but based upon his assessment I asked him to give me a quote and gave him my e-mail addres. When I got the quote, I saw that he was higher than an alternataive bid I had gotten; but the alternative vendor was very hesitant about doing the job because the porch is about 3 ft above grade on a brick platform and he had concerns about what could be involved in the underground portion of the plafform. His fear was that it would become far more expensive than the estimate provided if there were below grade issues. Since Tony gave no indication of having fears of such a problem we decided to go with Advance Masonry. I called Tony and asked him to come out to review the particulars with me in person, which he subsequently did. I told him that we'd decided to give the job to him and then asked about when he could start the work. He told me about some other major project he was working on up closer to his base of operation and indicated that coming down to Medina for such a small project would be an inconvenience, which i could appreciate. My main desire was to get the work done before Winter weather set in since I knew that would be problematic. After that it became a waiting process. I would periodically call Tony and leave messages asking for an estimated start date. He was never there, and I always had to leave voice messages with the hope that he would eventually get back to me. This would sometimes take 2 or 3 tries before I finally got a response, and it was always the same - some other problem with the major project would hold things up further. Nevetheless, we hung in for the duration and eventually Tony indicated that he would definitely be able to start this project in the coming week and we made plans accordingly - including my taking off work so that I could be there to keep an eye on how things went the first day. When the Advanced Masonry crew showed up on the agreed upon Monday date, it consisted of two men - neither of them being Tony. (He never came to the job site for the whole 4 day period. All communication with him was via cell phone between him and his crew and in a couple cases with me.) Both appeared to be competent, hard working type individuals, and this definitely proved to be the case. After they demo'd the existing concrete porch slab, they discovered that as feared by the other vendor the below grade poured concrete foundation of the porch was severly buckled, so after consluting with Tony and me it was agreed that they should cut out the existing foundation and rebuild it with cement block.. The cause of the original failure was identified to be the lack of adequate support at the middle of the slab, so they planned to add a cement block column beneath the porch's middle. They had to take a day off to get the additional equipment needed, and on the day they did this work I was out of town; but when I came back on the day following it's completion I could see the extent of the work done and that it was of excellent quality. On that fourth day they poured the porch slab itself and did the associated brickwork for the platform of the slab. This too was well done. Finally on the fifth day, they came back for a brief period to put down a sealer, and revised the brickwork for the step up to the porch so that it would be shorter and more consistent with typical porch approaches. They also picked up all their materials - leaving everything in spick and span condition. Up until this point, nothing had been said about exactly how much more it was going to cost as a result of the extra work done in conjunction with below grade foundation issues, so I spoke to Tony when his workers arrived and he gave the the "final" cost, which ended up being ~ 2 X the original quote. All things considered though, I did not feel that this was excessive and agreed to pay the full amount without objection. To date (3 months later) we've had no issues with the revised porch and associated step. All in all I was pleased with the work done. They delays encountered in getting things moving, and in trying to communicate with Tony were at times aggravating, but taking into account the final result of his crew's work, I would nevertheless be willing to reuse their servies if another need for masonry modifications was needed on our home,
Description of Work: The small front porch at entrance to house had developed a major crack in it. We wanted to get this repaired and had considered having a company that redid the driveway ~ 3 years earlier to cover this in their work; but they would only do it as a solid block of concrete and we wished to maintain the brickwork features of the original construction. Hence we turned to Advanced Masonry because they indicated that they handled brickwork as well as concrete.

This was a job most small companies would not do. the case of the damage to the foundation had to be caused by the previous concrete contractor hitting the foundation while pulling the old concrete with a bobcat or other piece of eqipment. Instead of repairing the foundation, they went ahead and poured the concrete into the bowed in wall. So when we repaired it we had to cut the new concrete back. Also when [member name removed]called we were very busy at the time. I did all I could to try to accommodate him, which was quite difficult. I made three trips there before we started the job and before my proposal was accepted. Weather was a huge factor and issues on other jobs that were unforeseen. I gave [member name removed] the same courtesy as I gave my other customers. If it rains we lose a day. If we run into issues, we lose time. I stay and finish, not take money and start something else. Most contractors would take your money and leave you waiting. There is no real schedule in this business due to weather and unforeseen circumstances. We do the best we can. When we took this porch apart, we ended up with two more days of work because of the underground damage that we coud not see until we dismantled the porch. We afforded [member name removed] the same courtesy as our other customers, we stayed the extra days to finish the work and never took any money until completion. I hope my next customer wasn't dissapointed that I had to reschedule him. It happens and most of my customers are very understanding. As for my presence on the job, I make sure things are performed properly and my men are very qualified or they would'nt work for me. These are not subs, they represent me.[member name removed] also had to arrange time off work to be there and thats just not a good idea as I explained do to the conditions we have to contend with. Let me put this another way, If you needed you car repaired you would bring it to a shop during business hours and thats that. You would pick it up when its ready during business hours and thats that. I do the best I can to accomodate people but I can only be in one place at one time. I would like to think your satisfied with the quality of the work as we are the best there is to offer. I can't say I'm not dissapointed with this review. We are always busy and in demand do to the quality of our work and most people are willing to wait until I can get to them. I don't think [member name removed] is an unreasonable man, but I do believe he doesn't fully understand my position as an outside contractor. If I could be where everyone wants me to be when they want me there, I wouldn't be in business very long. Again, I do the best I can and want all my customers to be more than satisfied with their experience with me and my men. I often have to choose between jobs do to timelines that just can't be met and have also rescheduled jobs due to what may be an emergency or high priority. Again, most people understand.[member name removed], I hope this clarifies things for you and I hope you would call us in the future if you needed our services. Thank you for your business we do very much appreciate it.

Working with Tony was an absolutely excellent experience. The crew did an excellent job and I couldn't be happier with the work they did. I had a pretty loose deadline in that I needed the chimney replaced before winter. When the job was eventually scheduled, the crew came when promised and on time. Better yet, they only needed 3 days to complete a pretty major project. I will recommend this company to anyone who needs the services they provide. One additional note, I am a consumer that asks A LOT of questions, sometimes multiple times. Tony was patient and answered all my questions. These guys know what they are doing!

I received several quotes to replace our chimney, which is about 7 courses of brick above the roofline. This was the most detailed quote that I received, which was really nice. Our house is from the 1800's, the the steep pitch makes such work challenging. This quote was about $300 higher than other quotes I received, so I (somewhat reluctantly) went with another mason.

We never like to see a review like this. I recall looking at this job and the difficulty of getting safely to the chimney to complete the work. Unlike many of my competitors, I am fully insured and carry workmans comp. My employees are the best around and get paid well. We strongly believe in quality work and I know we are not the cheapest outfit out here. We do however, have quality trucks and equipment & awesome men working for us. Unfortunately we need to keep up our equipment & always on jobs like this take the time to set up scaffold safely and not damage your roof. I hope everything worked out for you and if not your always welcome to call again in the future.I'm sure you would have been more than satisfied with our performance.

We had a chimney sweep look at our chimney, he told us the chimney was beyond repair and should be replaced as it posed a significant danger to our property. We called Advanced to have them quote a complete tear down and replacement. Tony showed up Saturday morning exactly when he said he would, even though he was leaving later that day to begin his vacation. Tony inspected the fireplace inside and out and gave us the best news, our chimney did not need to be replaced, simply tuck pointed, sealed, and it needed a new cap. Tony's men arrived and completed the work in one day, when I arrived home there was no sign of their being there at all. Can't say enough about these guys, they were great. We went from a $15,000 bill to a $1,600 bill.

Our chimeny was in poor shape with cracks, crubmling bricks, and water leaking into the chimney, plus it was not built correctly 35 years ago and could have caused a fire. In addition there were areas of my front porch where the brick and morter were crumbling and cracking. The front steps were also loose and mortor and bricks needed to be reset. Advanced Masonary rebuilt the chiimney from the ground up to meet city code and safety regulations. They matched the old brick style so it matches the house. They also incorrporated new designs so the water would drain properly and not cause the problem it cause before. The repair on the porch and the chimney look great and the price was resonable. Advanced Masonary completed the job in the time frame I requested, showed up on time and days they said they would, were friendly in responding and answering our questions. The workers were friendly, professional, answered our questions and they left the year clean. !This was a very good company to work with!

Tony Pisco, owner, provided general updates as work progressed. If asked specific questions Tony would take the time to explain professionally. If the work crew was delayed or pulled to another job we were advised well in advance. The proposal/quote was prepared clearly describing the work to be done. We requested some additional work and Tony prepared another proposal describing the additional work. I am 62 years old and I have dealt with many contractors. I called on 5/2/13 and asked Tony Pisco (the owner) for an estimate. He came out on 5/6/13 estimated the job and gave me a call to tell me in detail the repairs he thought were needed. He then emailed a written estimate to me. I thought the estimate was high, but after some research and a competitive estimate I decided it was in line. The competitive estimate was lower, but I didn't feel that it addressed all the things that needed to be done. I then called Tony on 05/15/13 and asked him to perform the repairs. He performed the repairs on 5/21/13. I looked at the repairs, and although I am not a mason, it really looked good to me. I was very satisfied. Tony is a highly experienced and skilled mason. I was happy with the entire process - the speedy and thorough estimate - the quick responses and the speedy high quality repair.

I had called up and talked to Anthony multiple times. It took him awhile to respond. He kept giving me excuses regarding he was very busy and thank you for your patience. Mind you we just wanted an estimate for our chimney repairs. We had contacted him well over a month ago and to this date still have no received an estimate as he promised I would via email. I talked to Anthony and he said I would have it 3 weeks ago, well still nothing. I would not recommend using this company for lack of faith in getting an estimate and who knows if they would ever come out to do the work. My guess is unlikely. I'm sorry you feel this way. Unfortunately I spread mysef thin and there could be many reasons why we did not make it there. I feel very strongly that if we did not do work for you, your review should not be posted. I get so many calls everyday and can't always accomodate everyone. We do favor jobs closer to our location and people who are positive to what they want. Our reviews for work performed speak for themselves. We are always very busy and most of my attention goes to the customer at hand. I recently lost my wife suddenly and may have missed a couple of estimates. The men came as scheduled and took the old chimney apart, removed all the debris, and rebuilt the new chimney. They were able to find brick that matched my home. Anthony said if my old chimney would have been built that way it wouldn't have fallen apart. I would use them again.

Outstanding tuck pointing work and chimney brick replacement where needed. Anthony also installed a stainless steel chimney cap. Our chimney developed a small leak and Anthony's workers fixed the chimney and their cleanup was excellent!
Description of Work: Owner, Anthony, was great! No money down to start and the work was excellent!

Came out and gave me a quote, which was very reasonable, said could deliver the work next day. Prompt, professional, cleaned up, and work looks fantastic. 5 Stars in my book - really impressed and referred him to a neighbor down the street who is going to use him as well in the spring on their chimney.

Everything went as planned and explained to me. The work actually came out better than I thought that it would. The foundation work came out very good, but I'll wait till next spring to see how it makes it through the winter. I think that Tony and his workers did a very good job and I would recommend them.
Description of Work: Rebuild top 9 brick rows of chimney. Rebuilt front of garage about 5 brick layers. Selected other single bricks needed replacement too. Foundation above ground needed the parge coat removed and redone and sealed. After Advance Masonry finished, I had another company install basement glass block windows. And the glass block window company left some of the foundation finish disrupted and Advance Masnory came back out and refinished the foundation area for no charge.

I was very satisfied with the work done by this company.Tony came out and gave me an estimate within 2 days of my call and started the job within one week. I was impressed with the quality of work, neatness and cleanup of his 2-man crew. They were professional and hard working. Tony did a good job of matching the brick and stopped several times over the 2-day period to make sure the work was being done to his satisfaction. He even had them re-do mortar that had already been applied in order to get a better match with the old. I also feel the price was reasonable.
Description of Work: New chimney brick down to roof level and cement crown on 2 chimneys (fireplace and furnace) and shoulder resurfacing of fireplace chimney.

Very satisfactory..Tony did a good job matching up the colors of the existing bricks so its hard to notice the repair unless you're looking for it...the crew worked all one day and part of the next and never even stopped for lunch or any breaks!!! great result ...Tony also removed some old mortar from around my basement windows and downspout at no charge...he also did a small foundation repair again with the bricks and mortar color matching...!!
Description of Work: removed and replaced 20 courses of brick at top of existing chimney
