Not good. Mark told me he was going to do the job, but was a few weeks out which I understood. He kept telling me I was on the schedule, but I was always the one initiating the conversation on updates for when it would get started. He eventually blew me off and stopped responding.
Description of Work: Dry wall. We also wanted flooring and a kitchen remake down the road if the first project went well.

I do apologize for the misunderstanding, we never had a signed contract or a start date, sometimes we will try and fit in small project in-between larger projects as fill in work, unfortunately we have not had time to complete those types of projects this year, I do hope you were able to get your drywall work completed

Description of Work: Purchased a coupon for 40 hours of home remodeling and repair to get lots of little jobs around the house taken care of before we put our house on the market. Mark came to the house and scoped out the work. There was mostly interior tasks with some exterior work, plus a door to the outside needed to be replaced. Mark's and his crew was very professional and competent, I would definitely hire them again. My only issue was that it took so long to get the work completed. I purchased the coupon in September 2015. Mark wasn't able to get out to first look at the work for a few weeks, then got us on the schedule for November. However, the door wasn't measured up until November, which then had to be ordered and wasn't installed until the end of December. By that time, it was too cold to do the exterior painting on the door and other outdoor work. Trying to get on the schedule at the beginning of Spring was a challenge and the work was finally completed at the end of April.

It didn't go very well. My 3-D rendition was not 3-D. I had to call twice to get a hold of them. He told me usually he didn't work in our area. I was very disappointed in them. It wasn't worth it at all. It did not come out as 3-D. It's 4 black and white pictures. He did come out after I called him a couple of times. It did not just blow me off. I did not get what I was looking for. He told me my neighborhood was too poor for him to work in. He said he usually worked in better neighborhoods.

We are sorry that you were not 100% satisfied with your 3d rendering, we sent 4 drawings of your galley kitchen, 2 were 3d and 2 were black and white sketches, I like to give people a few different ways of seeing how the kitchen could look. When the drawing was sent I asked if there was a different view or configuration to let me know and I would gladly send it over, and I also followed up a week or so later with no reply. If there was a problem with the pictures that were sent we would have no problem sending more. As for your neighborhood I think you live in a very nice older neighborhood, when we met you were interested in building a very large addition to your home as well as your kitchen, when people do large projects they also worry about resale value and that's when I will advise homeowners that if you have the largest/nicest home around you may not get all the money back that you put into it but you do improvements for yourself and should do what makes most sense for your family. We do lots of project in neighborhoods just like yours as well as all over northeast Ohio. I do think you did not have my correct number though, all the times you said you called I never received a message, but did reply promptly to your emails through Angie's list.

Superior Quality Builders lives up to its name in every respect. We have utilized this company for a variety of projects over the last 4 years and have always been impressed by their work. The company installed a new roof with complete tear off. Mark designed and built a carport addition to the house. Both were done quickly and efficiently. Next, we had Mark and his crew install all new duct work with a central heating and air conditioning system. They also built a drop down staircase for easy access to the attic. Again, the work was excellent. Our most recent project was just completed last week. It included new Pergo flooring in our kitchen/utility room. They also completely remodeled our bathroom which included installing new bathtub, shower, sink, flooring, and painting...Another great job! Every project, whether large or small, was treated with professionalism and attention to detail (Mark is a perfectionist). Many times far exceeding our expectations. We trust Mark and his crew completely. We have been treated fairly, honestly, and with respect in all of our dealings with Superior Quality Builders. We have recommended Mark and his company to neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family. Our next undertaking will be new lighting and we already have Mark coming for an estimate.

The roof looks wonderful and his price was far better than the other three estimates I received. We now sit out back on our open porch with ceiling fans going and a tv to watch and feel like we are in Hawaii! Friends and neighbors love it as much as we do!

The project started out OK, in fact, this company did an outdoor patio for me earlier in the summer and completed the job to my satisfaction. However, during the build phase of this project, the project and relationship started to deteriorate. We initially agreed upon a design, however, I did allow for small modifications as required along the way. In addition to the design, we agreed all wood would be stained / sealed (inside and outside) to minimize the impact of changing humidity. The first set of shelves in the office were OK, however, the spacing between the shelves was not symmetrical. Some of the shelves were +/- 2 inches (not equally spaced). It is noticeable as the spacing was approximately 2 feet between shelves. When I mentioned this to the builder, he said there was not much he could do. I did not push this issue, I let it pass. When he built the office desk, the design was very poor. The vertical trim pieces of the shelving between the rows, as well as the bottom shelf horizontal trim row all have ~6 inch wide pieces of wood as overlays which greatly reduces the useable space of the shelves. For the bottom horizontal row, the bottom 4-5 inches is completely covered, so it makes the bottom row virtually useless. There was also a piece of support bracing under the keyboard area which sticks down too far and interferes with the legs when seated at the desk. Also, as he did not initially design the correct doors for the bottom shelves (did not take into account the window trim pieces which impeded the door openings), he had to redesign these, including the door stops. Unfortunately, all he did for the door stops was nail/glue a 2"x4" piece of wood to the top, back inside of the opening to stop the doors. After the first few days, these pieces became very loose and are virtually useless. They also have sharp edges which is a safety concern for my children. When work was started on the shelving cabinets in the great room, I informed the builder that I wanted minimal gap between the cabinets so I could completely remove the shelves in the cabinets, and also so I would have maximum use of the space inside the cabinets when the front doors were open. When I saw the work after the framing was done, he once again used the 6 inch pieces of wood between shelve sections and this greatly reduced the usable space inside the cabinets (this also prevented me from being able to remove the shelves). He said he could not modify the framing as the doors were already made. I asked why he made the front doors before the framing was done / approved, and he replied that it was because it "fit into his schedule". I said that it did not make sense to me to complete the doors until the framing was approved, and he subsequently responded on how much time and money it would be to make this change. When I reinforced this was discussed before building the cabinets, he stated we never had that discussion. I next showed him a copy of the documentation I provided him which we initially discussed stating to have minimal gap between the shelves, and he responded back that we never discussed the opening. His only concern was the time and money to make it correct. After some thought, I agreed to split the costs with him to keep things moving, and he initially did not want to do this. He did eventually agree, and this is where the relationship started to degrade. From that point on, he was very curt and was also extremely rude to my wife. While in my house, he stated to my wife that they needed to keep their distance from each other while he was working inside my own house. He further stated that once the work was done, they would not have to see each other again. Lastly, his workers even stated that they were not given enough time to do the job to their satisfaction, they were rushed to get the job done. I have subsequently sent two follow up e-mails to the builder asking about completing the job and fixing the outstanding issues (back in November and December), and has not responded to either. Many of the bottom sides of the cabinet were not stained, the wood is separating at the glued seams on the top of the seating area of the cabinets, his crew punctured holes in the insulation on the garage doors. several of the doors are not aligned, screws are missing in the hinges, etc. I am very disappointed in how this ended, but felt compelled to write this review as I have not heard anything from the builder since my request for completion of work in November. I guess lesson learned is to withhold a larger sum of money until the job is completed so the builder will come back and finish the job. It will cost me more to get the items repaired than the $1,000 I withheld.
Description of Work: Built custom cabinets and built-in office desk. The custom cabinet for the great room contained a section to store all stereo and A/V equipment.

including stone hearth and custom designed woodwork mantle. The fourth project was the demolition an existing 600sf deck and replacement of a AZEK deck including LED lights on all posts. The projects were completed on time and within quoted price. Mark and his crew did an excellent job of cleanup and protecting the house while completing these major projects. The workmanship was excellent and Mark made several suggestions during the projects that enhanced the outcome. He was onsite everyday and involved in all aspects.I would not hesitate to recommend Mark and his company.
Description of Work: Over a eighteen month period Mark completed several separate projects The first was a complete remodel that included a new master bath expansion and remodel from the studs including glass shower, new tub, new cabinets and granite tops, and closets; remodel of two existing baths, retiling of all three existing bathrooms, complete demolition and remodel of kitchen and butlers pantry including cabinets, granite, lighting and backsplash; removing walls to open space in family room and entryway to lower level; demolition and complete remodel of family room fireplace. The second was the construction of a second family room area of approx. 700sf on the lower level which included bathroom with shower. The third was the addition of a new corner fireplace on the lower level.

About the time we were thinking about getting some work done in the basement, we happened to see a sign in our neighborhood for Superior Quality Builders. We knocked on the door and asked the owner about the work they had done. He could not have been more complimentary about Mark and the work that was done, so we gave Mark a call. As for our experience, we were very pleased with Superior Quality Builders work from start to finish. We are not well-versed in the areas of construction or design, so we tried our best to communicate to Mark what we envisioned in what was a pretty small space. Mark had good ideas of how to best utilize the space and give us a terrific TV room. We were looking for casual additional living space, somewhere we could relax, or the kids could have their friends over to watch movies, and that's exactly what we got. Mark was able to come into our empty space and envision the best configuration for the room, and we are so glad we contracted with him. Mark's price was about in the middle of the three different quotes we received, which we felt was perfect. There were no surprises or unexpected charges throughout the project, even when there was a small issue with the city inspector that required Mark to do a little extra work. We have already let Mark know that we will be calling him back for future projects. Oh, and they were great with our dog, who is a little skittish and shy, and we were nervous about that. That may seem inconsequential, but for us, it wasn't!
Description of Work: Mark and his employees did a partial basement (TV room) for us in January of 2013. The area was just a standard basement shell - poured cement walls and cement floor. They did everything from studs to walls; trim and paint. They cut part of the wall leading down to the basement and put up a banister, which makes it feel very connected to the upstairs living space. They did recessed lighting, and the stairs and floor were carpeted. They created a storage closet for us as well.
