Response from Mai-Ly Nguyun Rentals
Mr. and Mrs. [Member name removed] were relocating from Kentucky because she was offered a new position here in Cleveland. However, the job required her to have a permanent residence in the assigned area where she works and a set up an office at home. They walked our rental residence during an open house on June st, 2014, and talked to us about their situation. They expressed their interest and agreed to all terms and condition on the rental agreement. We informed them that the garage was only 2 years old due to a prior fire. They put down security deposit and rental agreement was signed on June 18th and their move in date was scheduled for June 26th. The afternoon of June 26th, Mrs. [Member name removed] contacted me crying, begging, and pleading because she did not have the money for the first month rent. She gave me all possible sympathetic stories include both brother-in-law and mother-in-law were admitted into emergency due to heart attacks. She pleaded with me to give her family a second chance for a fresh start after 2 difficult divorces, bankruptcy and a run down by their X’s. She pleaded that her family needed this job and once she start this new job with regular pay, everything will work out. Mrs. [Member name removed] borrowed money from her aunt who talked to me on the phone begging me to rent the house to them and give them a chance for a fresh start. The tenants paid rent late the following month and their rent check bounced (see bank notice dated July 31, 2014). August 12, 2014, Mrs. [Member name removed] informed me about a problem with a lighting fixture. (See Home Depot receipt dated August 13, 2014). John; my handy man’ stopped by that evening and a new lighting fixture was purchased and installed the following day. On August 20th, I received a text from Mrs. [Member name removed] (see text message dated August 20th, 2014) that she won’t have the next rent payment (which is due on August 26th) until the 29th because she won’t get paycheck until the 28th. For 2 days, prior to my scheduled trip to Romania I tried to contact the tenants via phone, text, and email (see email dated Sept. 30th and Sept. 31st) to inform them about scheduled appointment with [Provider name removed] on Thursday, September 3rd, but they never responded. I gave my tenants a visit in person at 12:30pm on September 31st, 2 hours before I had to be at the airport for my scheduled trip to Romania. When arrived, Mr. [Member name removed] informed me that he put rent check in the mail himself and I should received it in a few days. While I was in Europe, [Provider name removed] arrived to do the work, my tenants call the city of Strongsville filed a complaint that the electrician was not licensed. The work was completed on September 13, 2014. We came home on September 22nd with no rent check in the mail. In summary, we feel that our tenant is using excuses and doing everything they can to breach the 3-yrs lease agreement they signed. Their true motive is the relocation of her job. (See her attached email to me on September 23, 2014). On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, the tenants were served with a 3-day eviction notice for non-rent payment. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at 440-238-8223. Sincerely Yours; Mai-Ly Nguyen Property Owner
