Royalty Roofing

These guys are awesome. Charlie and his crew both for the roof and the gutters on my house were timely, detail oriented and a pleasure to work with. They are returning for a project next week. These guys do top notch work for sure!

We hired Royalty to replace all our aging vinyl siding with James Hardie cement fiber siding. The work was started earlier than we had expected, and the team completed it within the estimated time frame. The team was friendly, professional, and efficient, and the workmanship is superb. I would definitely suggest Royalty if you're considering James Hardie siding.

Royalty roofing came to our home after a hail storm. They felt there was enough damage to warrant an insurance claim. The insurance company disagreed, so Carolyn, the saleswoman came back with the insurance agent and showed him the damage and got our roof paid for. Awesome! We had noticed some slow leaks in 3 areas of our home previously. I told the Carolyn this before signing the contract. She told us that they are GAF Certified and can guarantee the roof for 50 years. We called GAF to make sure that was legit and they told us that Royalty had been certified in the past, but failed to renew the certification so our roof would not qualify for that warranty. Carolyn said she didn’t know that. Royalty did then renew their certification and sent me a copy of the certificate. Carolyn talked us into all new gutters & downspouts with gutter guard, which we paid extra for. We then added on a porch before the roof was installed and paid them for the difference to put that roof on too. All is still good. The day of install my wife noticed nails popping through the ceiling of our back patio as they installed the roof. Thousands of nails were destroying our ceiling. We talked to Carolyn and we went back and forth on if Royalty should have to fix the ceiling. They wanted us to pay half. They said that the destruction was unavoidable because of the length of nails they have to use to be GAF certified. We said they should have told us this in advance and we could have found some solution or we could have accepted this. After much reluctance, they agreed to have their painter come and fix the ceiling and repaint it which required quite a bit of work. They did a pretty good job. Not professional, but acceptable. On the same day of the roof install, when they said they were finished, I took the installer and Carolyn up on our hill and asked them about the spots that had leaked before, pointing them out specifically. I was concerned because they had done the job so fast. I was afraid they missed something. They assured me it was all done right and everything would be fine. About a month later, we noticed spots on our garage ceiling. I notified Carolyn and she sent out their guys. They couldn’t find the leak, but caulked the roof and the siding and felt that fixed the leak. I asked at that time if the roof had been routing the water directly into the siding and he (the head roofer guy) said “yes”. I asked what would be the permanent fix. He said that at some point all of the shingles should come off and that valley be rebuilt to redirect the water to the gutters. He said that the caulk should last a few years. I was not satisfied, but I repainted my ceiling and waited a couple months. The roof still leaked. They came back and fiddled with it again and once again caulked the “**it” out of it. It still leaked and now there was noticeable mold coming through the dry wall below the ceiling. I pushed on the ceiling and it was mushy so I drilled a hole in the ceiling to see how bad it was. The next rain storm, water dripped through the hole, so I tore into the ceiling. The wood on the outer wall was almost completely gone and the rest mush. The insulation was soaked. It had been leaking a long time, which I suspected from the beginning, but now a whole year had gone by after the new roof was installed. I insisted that the owner of Royalty Roofing come & look at it, which he didn’t want to do and it took him weeks to do so. His take on the problem was that they had no way of knowing the new roof wouldn’t fix the leaks because the addition of ice guard could have fixed it and since they didn’t know that it wouldn’t fix it, it wasn’t their responsibility. He said the only thing they would be willing to do is fix it at cost which would be around $500. I reluctantly agreed to this and Royalty sent a out a guy with plywood, 2x4’s, ice guard and shingles. He built a “cricket” in about 2 hours. They sent me a bill that was exactly $500. I emailed the sales lady (who had emailed me the bill) and said the job was supposed to be done at cost which shouldn’t be exactly $500. I also said that on second thought, why should I have to repay for materials that I had already paid for from the first time they “fixed” the roof? After all, I told them it was leaking from the beginning and now I’ve got to pay for the “cricket” and all the internal repairs (insulation, plywood, drywall, paint & labor), which I would not have even known was damaged if Royalty had built the “cricket” in the first place. So, I never heard back from the email about the $500, so I assumed they waived that charge and agreed that I was correct and I shouldn’t have to repay for materials and labor that I already paid for. That was around Dec. 2017. Fast forward to spring 2018. We’ve been wondering why our gutters always overflow when it rains in the front and why all of the gutters are discolored and stained. I went out and really looked close at it and found that they hung at least some of the gutters to flow the wrong way. My wife called Carolyn and left a couple messages. Finally the owner, Jason calls back and says he won’t do anything about the gutters because I “refused to pay the $500 that he agreed to for the cricket”. This was a lie to my wife which I overheard, so I got on the phone. I told him that “I never said that I wouldn’t pay for it. I said I shouldn’t have to pay for it and they never replied back to me. I never refused to pay for the cricket after I agreed to. I just wanted to know the actual costs and stated I shouldn’t have to repay for the same materials I had already paid for. So he says keep the $500 for the cricket and he won’t fix the gutters, which is his preference. He says he wants to be done with me. I wanted to be done with him too so I said “OK”. I pretty much had no option anyway, but since he waived the $500 he said it cost him, I agreed, thinking we could use that money for another company to come out to re-hang the gutters. The other company that came says that the gutters and the gutter guard were not only hung wrong by Royalty, but are complete junk and proceed to show us why. We noticed that almost immediately after Royalty hung them they stained. This other company says it’s because the gutter guard is crap and the water just runs over it and down the sides of the gutters. They will not re-hang those gutters, so they quote us $900+ to put new ones all along the front of the house. They want over $3000 to do the whole house, which is ridiculous. So, now the question is: Should I pay the $500 for the cricket and try to make Royalty fix their gutter work or pay someone else to redo it? What do you think? At the very least it’s been a Royal Pain and instead of being treated like royalty we’ve been treated like the court jester. We were treated like we are unreasonable for insisting our new roof not leak and the gutters be hung right.

We had wind damage on our roof due to a storm in March, 2017. Jason worked with our insurance adjuster to get the entire roof replaced. Insurance had only wanted to replace half of the roof, but due to Jason's persistence the roof was covered in full by July. In July, Jason's crew replaced our roof. They worked long hours and were able to complete the roof in just two days. They did a fantastic job on the clean up as well. I would definitely hire them again.

Showed up when they said they would, and finished when they said they would. The roof looks great.

They come in, do their job and leave. I have had no problemw with them. If a problem turns up they come back and fix it.

Were prompt in arrival, set up shop, got his work done, cleaned up and left. Very nice job.

He came in with a crew that nearly was able to complete the job in one day - I have a large ranch. He chose the roof color and the matching flat roofing and it is beautiful - I have areas of flat roof that show, and he was able to match the roofing with a matching brown for that flat area and for an older home, it is smashing. Very pleased with Jason's responses to any questions and his overall concern that I was complete happy. It is especially great that he is available anytime I tried to contact him. Highly recommend him.

They replaced our roof, the roof was amazing and they did a very nice job on the gutters.

I received a quote in early May, but did some other research and concluded that even though others were cheaper they didn't seem as knowledgeable. I contacted Jason, the owner, again and he scheduled the roof replacement for June. His crew came and they were personable and professional. They did the job quickly and cleaned up after themselves. I would recommend them again.
