Nightmares & incomplete jobs: 02/12/2013 we hired Specht Roofing to replace a roof and siding and other small to medium size jobs. 5/20/2013 we had to hire an attorney to get the job done. We had one side with no siding at all on it and had been that way for over 2 mo. through cold nights & hot days costing our electric bill to double. We had contacted them weekly, sometimes daily to ask them to complete their services and they would randomly show up for a day. In the 20 good workable days of May they have worked 4 1/2 days. The owner kept changing quotes when ½ through the job, we were left with paying the new quote or sit here with ½ of the job done. We had written 3 checks within 30 days for supplies each with a promise they will be finished in days, then they would not show up. Finally, after we hired a lawyer the owner started harassing me by email. On Memorial weekend, 4 days before we were to sign the court suit documents, Jonathan Specht sent 1 man & a kid fresh out of school for 2 days then 1 man took it upon himself to work the last 4 days. I fired them because the quality of work I was getting was going to cost me more to hire done correctly then to hire someone to do it right from the start. This was not a 1-man job in 80-degree temps & I was aware his men had not been paid & I knew the last of the money was not enough to pay them in full. Not one contract was completed to its full extent, this includes, roof, siding & paint, bow window, gutters, repair under 3 sliding glass doors, deck fastened. The total job quote was $24,250 we paid $26,321. We were also left with leaks on 3 rooms & 1 hall ceiling, landscaped gardens destroyed, broken items on our deck & gardens with a cost of another $2,316.57 to fix, replace or repair these things. A job boss who would enter our home & use our bathroom without permission, loud music, nails left in our driveway, yard & pathways, debris & junk in our wood line & driveway. I ended up under doctor?s care for the stress, our home business lost a lot of money over the noise from them not having to proper tools. Our siding moves when you push on it., we still go around pushing nails in because they did not inset them our attic is not sealed up from the new soffits, all of our gutter guards we paid to replace 6 yrs ago need replaced again from their neglect. This owner charged us for supplies that obviously were not purchased. Our new sliding Pella door we found out was purchased from eBay used, it already had someone else on the warranty from 2001. The owner never answered the BBB, he blames everyone but himself, his excuse was we kept changing the plan but the plan was the same since the very first week, any changes were suggestions from his own men who would tell us they needed to change something. We had to fire them my stress level was so high I was under doctors care & medications & the only way to heal was to let them go.
