Mel Yoder Home Improvement LLC

His name is Mel Yoder. I got him from Angie's List. I had gotten ten names from Angie's List. I had them all come out and give an estimate. Mel Yoder was the only one that got up on the roof and walked the entire length of the roof. He discovered that we had shingles coming off and wind damage. The handyman that I had used for years passed away in January. He couldn’t do the roof because of his heart condition. He had given me an estimate of what he thought it should cost for labor and materials. Mel Yoder was right within that price. Everybody else was $3000-$4000 higher. They did an excellent job cleaning up. They did an excellent job overall. I was very impressed. The price was very reasonable. One of the first questions the insurance guy that has our house insurance asked me was if any of the roofers I had come out actually got up on the roof. I said only one. There were some that brought ladders out. I have a front porch roof that's a little lower than a two story house. They would get up on the porch roof and that was it, but they didn’t get up on the roof itself. Mel Yoder did, and he walked the whole length of the roof. He even came inside. I showed him a place where I thought there was a leak in the laundry room. We have a duplex upstairs. He was very thorough. I liked the idea that Mel Yoder and some of the other ones printed up estimates and sent them. I wanted to get him to do my kitchen since I had used him for the roof because he does do home improvement. But they are so lined up; he was three months down the line. That's why I went with another company. Mel is good at what he does, and he stayed booked. He was upfront about giving me options and what would be the best pricewise. I really appreciated that. I would definitely recommend Mel Yoder for doing the roof. For the two chimneys that needed re-servicing, he did an excellent job. I was very happy with the job he did especially the clean-up. They were very thorough in doing the clean-up. I was impressed with that.

Start the job did the roof of house NOT FINISHED YET and DIDNT touch the barn after us calling MANY times trying to contact them. We liked our crew that started the job but now they no longer work with the company and looks like we are not gonna get our roofs done.

All work was started and completed in a timely manner. All employees were very professional. I am extremely satisfied with all work performed.

A hail storm did extensive damage to my home and I called Yoders after being referred to them by a friend. The salesman was quick to respond and did an excellent job of showing me how to file my claim. He met with my adjuster and got my entire roof, siding, and gutters paid for! They were quick to schedule me in and had the roof on within 2 weeks of signing the contract. The siding was done at a later date by a different crew, but the salesman let me know that from the begining. Everything was done in a professional manner and I would recommend these guys to anyone.

The result is that we have a new roof. However, the experience was horrible. We just finished with the results of filing our small claims case against them. We won the case. They now need to pay the $700. judgement plus court costs. They did not give us the $250. rebate they promised and was advertized. Further they owe $450. to correct an HVAC problem they created. They are not certified/licensed HVAC contractors. They removed the furnace flue cap ontop of the furnace chimney. This was not to be touched. There was nothing in the contract regarding same. They incorrectly took an expensive furnace flue cap we had and replaced it with a cheap one. Our furnace contractor was shocked when he saw it. He has quoted the $450 to correct same. I feel that Angie's list needs to remove them from the good list and put them in the penality box. If you can get our damages for us, so much the better. We are not finished with this process.

they were prompt to arrive and give an estimate- I accepted their bid and we signed the contract- they began work within the expected time frame- the carpenter who did the extra framing came and then the roofers, their job did not take long and the result appeared very nice- the new overhang had not been completed yet and the man who I had been dealing with (the salesman)came over and told me that they had made a mistake, the framer made the extension too big and this was not what the salesman wanted, he informed me that I would have to pay another $2400 for the completetion of the job, also that the rest of the eaves would not look right because the new work would be more white and it wouldn't match the rest of the house- I refused to pay them extra money..I waited to hear from them again and had to call several times, the salesman did not respond at first but I had to threaten to take action, then after another wait, I came home from work to find the work completed except for a small strip that was missing to cover part of a overhang, I had to call them again but they did come and finish this task-

still havent heard back from him after 5 weeks after asking for a quote to redo my roof

Our roof needed replacement from a hail storm last year. In November, we received a quote from Mel Yoder's Home Improvement for a complete new roof for $8500. Since the roof wasn't leaking, we agreed to wait until this spring for replacement. Throughout the winter, I emailed the estimator/salesman many times back and forth to make sure that the contract was completely detailed in order to protect us and them. There were several references in emails about him contacting his manager, and the answer to all issues we discussed was "OK". The contract was properly detailed, and both Mel Yoder's estimator/salesman and I signed the contract. This March, the estimator/salesman called me, said they were ready to schedule our roof replacement, and asked for a $1000 deposit, which I mailed to them in the form of a check. Approximately 3 days later I got a call from a manager at Mel Yoder's Home Improvement who told me that the estimator/salesman wasn't experienced, and that they needed another $2000 from us to do the job. Needless to say, this is classic bait and switch scam, and I wouldn't agree to it. Per several references in the emails, the manager had to know about this contract. The manager said they wouldn't honor the contract, and returned the $1000 deposit check to us, which they had already cashed. They did mail a $1000 check to us, which is the only honest thing that was done in this entire transaction. I consulted a lawyer who researched the contract, and said I have a good case to sue them for breach of contract. The only problem is that I could only win the difference between the $8500 contract and the amount I'll have to pay to have someone else to do it; at the same time, legal fees would run somewhere north of $3000, so I haven't decided on legal action. At any rate, stay away from these people unless you want to waste your time and money!

Excellent salesman, Dane Ohly. Excellent recommendation form roofer for repair with a rubber roof on the top and matching shingles for lower roof levels. Roofing was quickly and neatly performed. Roofers were using some inappropriate language while roofing. I had renters in the home and they had children. Overall excellent results. No leaks so far.

Roof looks good could use some shims on one end.

Once we were able to get the work scheduled, the workmen were prompt, efficient, hard working, respectful, and cleaned up well when they were finished. We have not received a final bill yet but expect it to be satisfactory. There had been a delay in getting the work scheduled because of negotiations with our insurance company, and then we were out of town on a previously scheduled vacation. We had hoped to have the work done before we left, but because of their busy schedule it was hard to get us on their schedule.

The installation of the door fixed the leak and the interior tile job look good. The caulk around the door looked like a child had done it. There were areas gooped up and caulk was used where not needed.The door also came with a defective lock so they needed to order a replacement. When they came back to fix the caulk one worker said this was a good job but another person from the crew agreed it looked terrible. Two attempts were made to fix the caulk but it was never improved and the lock had still not been replaced. a month later another crew showed up and determined new flashing would need to be replaced and recaulked. they did finaly replace the defective locking handle, this is two months after the initial install. They never returned to replace the flashing so in the spring of 2012 I called them back and they changed the flashing and must have used the same person to do the caulk as before because again it looked terrible. During this whole issue an owner never bothered to visit the site even after I went to their office and showed them pictures. Their office is less than 5 min. from my house. It took several more trips with photos to their office before the finaly sent someone who was able to do the job correctly. This was 11 months after the initial install. It may sound like I was being to demanding but if you had seen the work you would have agreed with me and the person who was finaly sent out with the experience to complete the job professionally.

Fantastic crew and company. Everything couldn't have gone any easier.

Tore off roof and replaced, also replaced gutters. The guys did a great job. Very pleased.

Jack from Yoders got my roof replaced by my insurance company for hail damage. They did the job in the allotted time as described in the contract, and where able to do the entire roof in one day. I was very impressed in how fast the crew was able to do the roof and with such craftsmanship. They are a well oiled machine. Each member of the crew knows what to do and when to do it. The cleanup was superb and they took such care to protect my landscaping and deck. I would never recommend another roofer to anyone.

I've used Mel to do my work for over 15 years. I own several rental properties and he has done various work from painting and roofing to carpentry work. Whenever I need something done I call Mel and he gets his crews right on it. I've had other quotes from other roofers and Mel was never the cheapest, but he was always the most prompt and I've grown to trust him with all my home improvement needs.

I called the Yoders to come out and give me an estimate in early April 2012. They came out and gave me a quote on a complete roof replacement. The salesman was very knowledgeable about the products and services. Although they weren't the cheapest, I found them to be the most professional and to have the best reputation. They were out to my house within two weeks after we authorized the quote and had my roof off and on in one day. The crew was very professional. Will be recommending them to my friends and family.

I called Yoders out to my house this spring when a tree hit my home. Dan Yoder came out and performed an inspection on my roof. He noticed damage to my shingles and some of my siding. He helped me file the claim and met with my adjuster. The adjuster paid for my entire roof and half my siding. They did excellent work. I would use Dan Yoder and Yoders Home IMPROVEMENT again.

They replaced my roof, gutters, and siding from the wind storm this spring. Jack was my sales rep and he was great on informing me on how everything works. The crews were very respectful and professional and did an excellent job. I recommend them to everyone who needs roof work done.

I contacted Mel Yoder's Home Improvement for an estimate on my home and when the gentleman came out to look at it he identified some hail damage to my roof. I wasn't even aware there was hail damage so I was quite suprised to find out there was damage to my roof. The insurance company came out and paid for a new roof and then when they opened the roof up they found out my roof boards weren't up to code and got the insurance company to pay for that as well. I was extremely pleased with their work. They did the entire job in one day so they weren't there for weeks on end. I would recommend the Yoders again and if I ever need anything else I'll ask for Dwayne.

I was very pleased with the work Mel YODERS home improvement did on my home. This is a company that is experienced and helpful. My roof looks great!
