Bowers Chimney Service

I asked for an estimate to install an insert I have had for years, I have the liner kit also, My liner did not meet their standards so they want to sell me one of theirs, Mind you I already have the stove, They wanted $2500 to install approximately 20 feet of liner and connect it to my stove. I checked the mirror after he left to see if I had a big zero tattooed on my forehead, Nope didn't have that, so I asked my son to look at my back to see if someone hung a sign saying "kick me I'm Stupid" Nope that wasn't there either, So I will assume they were planning a tropical vacation for this winter and wanted me to bankroll it.

In the last few weeks, smoke has come into our house when building fires, so we hired Bowers Chimney Service to sweep our chimney. Mr. Bowers cleaned part of our chimney from inside our house, assuring us that a roof inspection and roof chimney cleaning was not necessary. Trusting an Angie's List rated company, we paid him and he left. After his partial cleaning, we attempted subsequent fires, only to have smoke pour into the house. When asked about the smoke, Mr. Bowers stated that he would come back to our house to prove a clogged chimney could not be the cause, but if he was correct, he would charge us full price for a second cleaning. We faced a choice to either trust his judgment or risk paying double. Rather than risk another partial clean by Mr. Bowers, we inspected the chimney ourselves. We discovered the top of the chimney was nearly completely closed off with debris (photos attached). Now that the chimney is actually fully cleaned, the stove works like new, and no smoke has come in the house since. When approached with photos of the gallons of debris, Mr. Bowers admitted he made a mistake in not fully cleaning our chimney, but he denied our request for a partial refund. He instead offered discounts off future services. We are not interested in coupons from a company that does not complete the work they are paid for, and we are not interested in hiring a company that we cannot trust.

It was very well. We were very satisfied. They were here when they were supposed to be here. It seems to be working fine. They were very professional and knew what they were doing. They called the night before.

Actually showed up early. Professional and polite.
