Elling Plumbing & Heating

While at the Fulton County Fair I had signed up for a $69 "inspection and service" deal with a local plumbing and heating company in Delta. Their person came out and while working on things told me my "heat exchange unit is cracked" and is letting poisonous carbon monoxide fumes into the house putting our lives in danger. He stated that "by law I must shut down your furnace" because it was unsafe. He then proceeded to urge me to buy a new furnace. I declined and he left unhappy, my furnace still off. I cantacted Elling P & H as they had installed a new system in my daughter's home. Mr. Elling came out. He showed me that the instrument he used to test was reading zero on carbon monozide emissions. He could find no crack or fault in the unit. Mr. Ellings indicated that my furnace was a Bard unit and he had only seen one of those go bad in his career and that mine likely had many years left. I asked him if I should replace it with a more efficient unit and he said no. He ran the numbers and explained that it would take me 15-18 years to hit a break even point with a new furnace and begin to save money so I should just stick with this one since it is fine. Bottom line, Elling P & H is an ethical business that puts doing right by people first and selling new stuff second.
