He was extremely professional and even took his shoes off at the door. He did an excellent job cleaning the chimney and it looked so clean when he was done. I will never use anyone except for Sooty Myke's. If your looking for someome honest, reasonable and reliable then please contact him.

+ 2 moreGreat!!! Sooty Myke was extremely thorough and took his time to do everything right -- he also explained everything to me which was extremely helpful. He was here for three hours-I am sure I made him run late for other appointments (he said he called everyone), and he was patient and professional and pleasant. He really knows his stuff!!! The people that I had come to do this in the past were not nearly as thorough and would not even check the chimney from the roof (claimed they didn't bring a ladder)--Myke put them to shame! I would recommend his services to anyone!!!
Description of Work: Gas fireplace cleaning and inspection -- turned out needed chimney cleared out (birds' nests etc.) and a screen custom made to keep birds and critters out in the future.

+ 1 moreHe was careful and efficient in his work. He said the chimney needed much more cleaning than his visit could accomplish. He showed us photos of the creosote which remained on the inside of the chimney as well as a couple of issues with the flashing and cap, which he said he could fix.
Description of Work: We needed a chimney inspection and cleaning. Myke cleaned and inspected the chimney and gave us a list of additional repairs and cleaning he felt it needs. He said it would be a good idea to keep a chimney fire extinguisher at hand, which he sold to us for $32. I have since found them at Lowe's for $15.

Description of Work: Chimney with two fireplaces needed inspected, cleaned and chimney caps installed, all of which appears to have been done well. One fireplace, which was gas, hadn't been used for 35 years, according to the previous owner, and Mule inspected it, checked for leaks and gave it a clean bill of health. He also installed a new handle on the flue, as one was missing. He recommended and I had him install new sand and a material around the fake logs which glow like real embers to make it look more realistic; I felt that the cost of those particular items were a bit excessive ($90) but he claimed it would cost at least that much no matter whom I purchased it from. However, I was very pleased with all aspects of Sooty Myke's service and will not hesitate to have him do work in the future. He also was very careful not to make a mess and left the premises as clean as when he started. I must add, though, that I haven't used either fireplace yet and may rarely use them but I just purchased the house and I wanted to be sure the chimney and fireplaces were safe should I want to in the future. Myke gave me a detailed inspection, including pictures of the inside of my chimney and recommendations and options for future possible repairs but did not pressure me, which I appreciate. Also, the receptionist I dealt with at Myke's office was great to deal with.

+ 1 moreFrom the first phone call to the office it went very well. The lady I spoke with to schedule the inspection was helpful and friendly. Myke was on time and professional. He did a great job at explaining what he found during the inspection and some solutions for us. What I liked most was that he did not try to sell us on services we didn't really need. He told us what we needed to do for our fireplace to be operational, but recommended a few other things that were totally up to us. He even offered us ways to do some of it ourselves to save money. When he came back to do the repairs he did a great job!
Description of Work: First, we had Myke come out for an inspection and cleaning for our wood burning fire place. After the inspection we had him come back out to make a few repairs.

+ -1 moreHe uses his equipment to thoroughly clean our fireplace. He carefully examines the entire area for any cracks or problems and fixes them if necessary. We've had no trouble in all the years we've use our fireplace.
Description of Work: Each fall we get our wood burning fireplace cleaned. Myke has done this cleaning for us for years. He is very neat, spreading out a protective covering on the carpet and then cleans out any ash that might remain.
