A-1 Concrete Leveling North

Was a very positive service call. The crew arrived on time and were very friendly and easy to deal with. They answered all my questions and explained the services very well. They performed quality work and I am a very satisfied customer. Would definitely call on them again and would recommend them to friends and family.

Workers were very professional and on time. Their work was exacting and left the site very clean. They were very carful not to crack a slab during the lifting. I paid a little extra to have the control joints caulked. That work also looked very good.

Work was done well and ahead of schedule. Had a small issue with not having a long enough drill bit, but worked around by drilling a different location that still worked well for the job. Originally scheduled about 6 weeks out, but were able to move up the work because I had flexibility and they called when they had schedule changes and fit me in within 2 weeks or the estimate.

Did a great job on large cracked sections that had settled unevenly

The guys were on time, Jenna called me day before with a reminder. They were professional and courteous. In a few hours my 40’x6’ porch and front steps were leveled exactly to original condition. They caulked and sealed around the porch far better than I could have done. I was worries about not having a fixed quote as their final is based on material used to level. Many variables there beyond their control. Another reason to use this company as they are honest. Highly recommend this company and would use them again.

They were very professional. They raised and leveled the stoop and sidewalk and filled in the cracks in less than 2 hours. They cleaned up well after.

It went great. They were there exactly when they said they would be and the whole process took about an hour. They did a great job patching the holes they have to make (to pump the leveling mixture in) and cleaned up well afterwards. And they honored the Angie's List coupon!

A-1 came twice to try the repair. In the end the job couldn't be completed. The worker was very professional and educated me on the problem. They stopped before putting too much into it and consulted with us. We decided that it was best not to continue as the structure did not respond to the treatment. Tey did not charge me. I gave them a travel charge for coming twice to try to do the job.

Had a sidewalk block severely up-heaved due to tree roots causing a tripping hazard. Had a few other sidewalk blocks that were not as severe needing leveling. A-1 came out, and gave me a recommendation and estimate for leveling the problem blocks. They were professional and courteous, and easy to deal with. The estimate was straight forward. They put me on the schedule, and came out when they said they would. They did the work they said they would, and the sidewalk is much better now. The major up-heaved block was dealt with by raising up two of the blocks next to it to form gradual slope, and so that the unevenness was completely eliminated. That's the best that could be done short of replacing a major portion of the sidewalk altogether. The cost of $400 seemed reasonable too for what we needed done.

Took a little while to get a response, though the results were well worth the wait. Another company quoted me $400 to raise one small section of the service walk, while A-1 raised the entire walk for only $375. Very professional, prompt and courteous.

Job went very well. They not only raised the porch with also made some minor repairs between the porch and service walk at no additional cost. Would use them again in a heart beat!

Arrived on time the day scheduled (9:00 AM) and were done and gone within 4 hrs.

They were about a half hour late they said because their GPS had them going to the wrong location. When they were backing a piece of equipment on a trailer into our driveway the first guy couldn't do it even after several attempts. The second guy got it in on the first try however in the process hit a large branch that cracked so loud that I heard it in the house with the doors closed. It may have not been preventable, but I thought it would have been nice if they mentioned it to me. The crew went right to work and appeared they all knew what they were doing. The underskirt of our porch is all brick. So when they jacked up the slab they also needed to jack up the brick also. According to them the bedrock at our house is lower than what is normal so they had to add to the price of our estimate. After they were done but still at our house I went out on the porch and saw that there was about a 3/4 gap between the house and the porch slab. When I mentioned it to one of the guys he said the porch slab was jacked up to slope for the water to run off. (Which I question now because when it rains we now have puddles on the porch.) Well I wasn't quite buying it because water still would get down there and that is what caused the problem in the first place. So he said he would call (I assume was) his boss. They then caulked the gab closed. The original estimate was for $4330 plus they then had to add to the price. It would have been nice when they gave us the estimate they would have forewarned us of possible extra costs. We had an estimate from someone else to remove and replace the just the concrete porch for $4100. To be fair the cost of sealing the concrete was $530 and should be subtracted for comparison sake. To me it seemed to be pricier than I thought it should have been. That's why I gave it a D for price. I checked the box that asked if you would have them again. I would, but I would get more estimates first.

Called A1: they were on time. Explained my objective: get rid of standing puddle Sold me concrete leveling/sealing. Result: Still had standing puddle. A1 came back out and designed a solution After some time solution installed (a drain with tubing to take water away) Solution worked great. Happy customer.

A-1 is a friendly company, helpful, competitively priced, punctual, and professional. If I need more of this work in the future, I will call them first.

It went very well. The estimator was quick and efficient and the work was scheduled and completed right away.

They came out to give an estimate within a week and then performed the repairs the next week. Since they gave an estimate, there were no surprises with the cost. Our sidewalk had sunk about four inches, so they made sure everything was perfectly level, including the front step. Then they completely cleaned up everything and sprayed everything off.

I originally called A-1 in another city, but the job was transferred to A-1 North out of Mount Gilead (I believe because of an incorrect assumption about my address). The estimator was half an hour early, which was a plus, but I did feel pressured to accept the estimate then and there (fortunately, it was the best I had received). I asked but did not receive an Angie's List discount, and it turns out that A-1 North does not offer one. Everyone I spoke with was very up front about my providing water and electricity as part of the job, and I appreciated that they made sure there were no surprises there. The job was scheduled for a few weeks out and they called to confirm the day before. I was expecting them around noon but the crew didn't make it until after 2:00 (turned out I was the third job of the day and they had one more after me). They drilled holes in the sidewalk and the stoop and started with the stoop. The process is fascinating...they pump a kind of concrete "mud" through a hollow tube and below the object which has settled, and eventually enough is pumped in so that the object is pushed up to the desired position. The stoop took more of the mud than they had estimated, and they had to clean out the mechanism and mix a new batch. When the stoop began to move, it started to drift to the side, but the crew used large pry bars to maneuver it into place. There was some disagreement about just how high the stoop needed to be raised, but after some discussion and measurements, they agreed that it needed to go to the higher of the two positions under consideration. Once the stoop was raised to the correct height, they adjusted it horizontally and then patched the hole which was originally drilled. The sidewalk was done in the same manner, except it took much less mud and moved very quickly in comparison. One of the crew members patched the sidewalk while the other cleaned up.

I liked that A1 Concrete did exactly what they said they were going to do. I liked that the work was done at a very reasonable price. I also liked that they were very personable workers.
