In brief: do not hire them: they do not fill the cracks well, they do not fill the holes at all. This is our experience: They provided a quote over the phone, not in writing, and it was higher than another company, but we chose them because they were able to schedule earlier than others. The day before the scheduled day, they called to say that the driveway is rough and that the result will not be perfect. It got me a bit concerned, but I said that I do not expect it to be new but that it would be repaired and seal coated. When they did job, they left a hole at the beginning of the driveway untouched, and they did not fill any holes in the rest of it. Even the cracks filling was not well done at all. It is like a thin layer that was put on top, not really filling. I called them right away, before their guys even left, and they said that they never agreed to filling the holes or repairing, they only agreed to filling the cracks! What good is a driveway / parking lot if the holes are not filled to protect it from water damage! I am not in this business, I do not know the technical words. We wanted it repaired and coated to protect it from the weather. Now we paid $895, and it is like a black paint job, which will do nothing to protect it from the weahter. Lesson: Do not hire this company. Always ask for a written quote with details.

Response from Premium Sealcoat LLC
At Premium Sealcoat we alway strive to provide the best service as possible and to convey properly what should be expected from our service. We tried to convey to you that the condition of the parking lot was so poor that sealcoating would do little to help it and would really only improve the appearance. The parking lot had several areas that where so badly deteriorated that they were just gravel. We did not quote or agree to replace asphalt in those areas. Sealer will not "fill" the surface of your parking lot. Sealer will seal the surface. This parking lot was deteriorated to the point that it needs to be replaced. This was something we tried to make clear before we came out. You decided that you understood the sealcoat would not give you a new parking lot and that you wanted to go ahead and seal it anyway. We are very sorry we did not communicate better to you what sealcoating can provide and what it cannot.

I have used Premium Sealcoat to seal my asphalt driveway three times. I was highly satisfied with the work the first two times (2013, 2015) and did not hesitate to use them again in 2017. However, this latest job was far from highly satisfying. I used their website to schedule the job by choosing an available calendar date approximately 10 days in advance. I was subsequently contacted by phone to say that the date I chose was not available due to a problem with their scheduling system - not a big deal since this type of work is often postponed due to weather anyway. On the day the work was performed, I was fortunate enough to return home as the crew was mostly through and I parked in the street. I immediately spotted one crew member using my lawn like a doormat in an attempt to remove sealer from his shoes. I can only presume he didn’t know I was the homeowner at that moment. Unprofessional. Regardless, the job to this point appeared excellent. I later returned outside to inspect the work after it was completed and the crew members had left. Although the portion of the driveway that I had seen earlier was in fact expertly applied and looking great, the remainder was a disaster. It was inexplicable to me how this could be or why the crew would leave the job with the driveway in this condition. Whereas most of the driveway was smooth with the sealer uniformly applied, the last 20% or so was extremely streaky (like it was applied with a push broom), had chunks of debris like mulch and leaves sealed over, was unevenly applied with excess ridges of sealer and even visible footprints. The sidewalk was stained with sealer, perhaps related to the footprints in the driveway. I found cigarette butts in the landscaping. The previous two times Premium Sealcoat had done my driveway, they used stakes and orange tape to rope off the driveway while the sealer dried, roping off both the main driveway and the driveway skirt separately so that the tape did not block pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk (which is a sign of professionalism I had come to expect). This time they roped off the sidewalk. I called Premium Sealcoat home office immediately that afternoon to tell them about the problems. I was told they would handle it, but did not say how or when. I assumed a supervisor would come right away or I would receive a follow-up phone call from someone. For the next 24 hours… nothing. I placed a follow-up call. Since no one had come to inspect the work, I told them I had taken photos that I could send. They provided an email address where I could send them and was told that they could send a supervisor in a few days since they were busy with another larger job. A representative did come three days later. The explanation for the poor work to the last 20% of the driveway was due to the fact that too much sealer was poured at the bottom of the driveway before it could be spread and smoothed. This caused it to dry too quickly, thus the streaks. Further, too much sealer was applied. The remedy was to have the excess sealer removed and then the entire driveway re-done. The sealer stains on the sidewalk would have to be pressure washed to be removed and would be taken care of separately from the driveway re-do. I was told the office would contact me to schedule the work, which they did a day or two later for the driveway portion. The sealing re-do was performed two weeks after the original job. Although this re-do did improve things, it did not fix the streaky application from the first job. I emailed before and after photos to Premium Sealcoat to ask if they considered the problem remedied and to ask if this is the best result I could hope for. I also asked when I can expect the sidewalk to be addressed. I received no response after a week. “Past performance in no guarantee of future results” would definitely apply to Premium Sealcoat. Although my first two sealcoat jobs with them were excellent, the third has been well below average. For future work, I will definitely be seeking a different vendor.

It went great! I received letter with an estimate, I called and booked an appointment, I put it on my credit card, which they did not run until the driveway was complete, I did not have to be there, and it looked great when they were done. They said I could book online with the web ID from my mailer, so I will do that next time.

Premium Seal Coat mails flyers every year (mass marketing) where they provide lowcost estimates for driveway sealcoating. I go to a website that has no information other than allowing me to enter your customer code and schedule the service. I've used them before and my experience was that after they arrive they say that additional work is needed because of the condition of the driveway and charge accordingly. So, I make sure I am there when they do the work. This year I had sold my house and no longer lived there. The current owner used the flyer received in the mail and set up an appt. with Premium Seal Coat (the estimate on the flyer is $240, or $235 if done by a certain day). The company not only charged my credit card for the seal coat, but upcharged the service an additional $80 over the estimated amount on the flyer. They did not get permission for the additional work from me. On May 22, somebody from Premium Seal Coat called and left a message on my cell saying additional materials were needed that would cost $80 and to call back and give permission for the additional work. I didn't speak to her,or call her back, however the $80 was added and the total charged on my credit card was $315. I called the company when I saw the charge on my credit card. The receptionist Becky apologized and said she'd send a check, but never did. She also refused to give me the owner's last name, which I thought was odd, especially because it can be found here on Angie's list. I contacted my credit card company. Premium Seal Coat refused to reverse the $315 charge. Premium Seal Coat continued to insist I owed the money, including the $80 upcharge. The new owner of my old house got involved in August and paid the company the full amount for the service. I again disputed the charge through my credit card, and Premium Seal Coat CONTINUED to refuse to reverse the charge. At that point, they had been paid twice, by me in May, and by the new owner in August. Finally, I went again to the new owner of my old house and got the receipt that Premium Seal Coat themselves had given the new owner showing the service was paid by her. I presented this receipt through the credit card company, AND THEN Premium Seal Coat reversed the charge. A few days after I posted this review, the owner called and left a voice message saying she will sue for slander if I don't remove it.

Premium Sealcooat provided a defective product, agreed it needed to be remedied and would be, but then refused to provide the correction without an additional significant charge.
Description of Work: Premium Sealcoat sealed my drive for $600 in October, after raising their estimate several times, insisting additional work was necessary. Wet and cool weather caused the coating not to adhere properly and it failed. They agreed to re-do the work at no charge the next season. The next season a supervisor inspected the drive, agreed the work was defective and scheduled a time for it to be fixed. That appointment was cancelled, and the company's owner prevented the work because she did not want to incur the expense and insisted I pay another $400 to have the deficient work corrected.

I have modified my review to reflect the redo on my driveway. After the first installation of sealer a thunderstorm hit right afterward. I had warned the installers the storm was coming. The rain splashed tar all over my garage doors and washed out portions of the sealer. I called Premium to get them to fix and after two weeks of no show / response, I painted the garage door myself, put some crack sealer in some of the washed out spots and did my (fairly negative) review. After the review was published they called to say they meant to come out to repair but had been busy. Maybe. In any case, we did schedule a return and they did put down a second coat. Weather this time was perfect for sealing. I would say if I was to use them again in the future, I would be very insistent on the weather being sunny for a day after the sealing.Even if they felt it was OK to do it, I would use my own judgement and cancel the appt if it looked like rain. If weather is good then they are fine and put down a nice seal job for a reasonable fee. I would probably forego any additional charges for "patching" and "high end" crack sealer they offer. The cartridge crack filler I used from Lowes does a better job than the liquid they use, in my opinion.

From using a leafblower instead of a pressure washer, never treating the oil stains before application, sealcoat on my brick walkways too the thickness and extent that pavers must be re-done, sealcoat on my stone retaining walls, the foundation of my house, my cement garage floor and my lawn, corners left without any sealcoat creating full triangular areas where the sealcoat should have gone but never did, to my call to the company telling them I didn't want them to come back to apply a second coat the next day because they already damaged my property in applying one coat, to their ignoring that and trespassing to apply a second coat but doing so on a driveway that wasn't clean and sealcoated over acorns, branches and rounded lumps of dirt attaching them to my driveway, then the "owner" trespassing on my property and declaring this work "perfect." I have photos of all damage and won't pay because it is costing more to fix their damage than their bill which includes work not authorized

First of all we are blown away to look on Angies List and find that Premium Sealcoat has an A rating. Except for some of the guys on the many crews that have come to our house over the past year, we would have to give an F rating on all levels. In the summer of 2013, we asked Premium Sealcoat to seal our driveway and also to patch an area of the driveway. They came and sealed the driveway, but said that they would need more money for the patch as they had to use more patching material. On at least two occasions we gave them more money. The patch looked so bad that they came and put even more material on it. We waited and waited, too politely, for the final patch. They did not come until the fall. They said they would come back and put seal on the patch and didn't. When I called they said it was too late in the season to put seal on it. Of course over the many months of winter and spring, leaves and other debris became stuck in the unsealed patch. Now so many and quot;patchesand quot; have been put on, that it is a lumpy mess, with dead leaves stuck in it and it looks terrible. Cracks in the pavement have reopened and look worse than before. Pieces of seal come off regularly, sometimes an inch or more in diameter. Flakes of seal could be seen all winter long in the shoveled snow. The snow we shoveled off the driveway was always speckled with black. In 2014 a representative of Sealcoat came to our house and agreed that the seal and the patch did not look good and said that it needed to be redone. Despite the fact that we started this process in the summer of 2013, they did not make it to reseal the driveway and fix the patch until August 5, 2014. Ironically, during this long time of waiting, we watched as many of our neighbors had their driveways done by the company! We should have been top priority as the job at our house was a necessary redo by the company's own admission. Sealcoat did attempt to come this summer and there was standing water on the driveway and they could not seal. Another time they cancelled because of rain. It was not until August 5, 2014, that they actually made it to our house again, a year having passed since we began the whole process. Before they came we weeded and swept the driveway and cleaned the area where the drain in the driveway is. There is a low area in our driveway where water stands above a drain. The drain is not completely open and never has been since we have lived here. The covering of the drain cannot be removed unless jack hammered as previous owners of the home must have asphalted it to the driveway. When they came on August 5 they said they now could not seal because there was mud on the driveway by the drain. This is not mud of any depth, but dust in the cracks and uneven surface of the driveway. They said we should have pressure washed the area, though we have never been asked to pressure wash even before they came the first time a year ago. The crew that came on August 5 also admitted that the patch needed to be redone and that the driveway needed to be sealed. It was apparent our job had not been and quot;red flaggedand quot; or otherwise noted as special, etc. I don't think they were expecting to repair the patch as was promised and obviously was one of the major reasons the appointment was scheduled. My husband at one point over the long summer of waiting, had offered to pressure wash, but I had discouraged him because I was afraid that even more seal would come off than is already flaking and peeling off on a daily basis. I was also afraid that Premium Sealcoat would say that we had damaged their work, rather than it being faulty to begin with. The crew on August 5 said that they could pressure wash the mud off, it but then they would have the problem of the water standing on the drain. Though admittedly there is a problem with the drain, I can't believe that it is such an insurmountable problem. Not for a company that has sealed hundreds of driveways. Not for a company that has a whole bunch of our money. There also is the problem with the patch. A crew member on August 5 said that the patch would have to be jack hammered out and said that they did not have that kind of equipment on the truck. He called the office and the person who he spoke with said that they could not fix it as they do not have a license from OSHA or the equipment to perform such a repair. They offered to seal part of the driveway, I assume going around the lumpy patch, and not going around the drain area. I said no thank you. I want what we have paid for, a sealed driveway, the whole thing, and a patch on the part of the driveway that needed to be repaired. If Premium could not handle our driveway to begin with, if this was beyond their area of expertise, they should have said so. The fact remains that they have our money and we don't have a product of any quality to show for it. Sealcoat did attempt it and must now accept the consequences. By their own admission, the crew that was here on August 5, and the representative that came out earlier this year, the job needs to be redone! We want our money back or the job done right.

I wrote a review for this company last year and gave them an A rating. However this year the crack that they were supposed to fix opened up and is very deep. It goes across the middle of my driveway. I know we had a bad winter but I think the repair should have lasted more than 1 year. Also I found some black specs on my garage door from when they put down the sealer and splashed it on there. My garage doors were new so I'm not happy about that! I think they should put something against the doors so that doesn't happen to anyone else!!!

This company has been to my house 3 times and I still have an area that is not covered!! The first coat was put on last fall, it rained the next day and washed much of the tar off, it was then too late in the season to reapply. They came again in the spring, same thing. Then a third time this summer, some areas where the driveway is pocked or uneven, in a few days, filled with water and again washed the tar away. I spoke with a lady, who agreed to redo all of these times without hassle. She said the third time is the last. Yes, I agree, moving on to a different company who uses better, thicker materials, or whatever it takes to get the job done the first time!! Also, my driveway sustained damage throughout the winter not being correctly covered during the snow and ice. Not happy!!

Two young men arrived on time, introduced themselves and asked if I had questions or concerns in the work they were to do. This is refreshing to say the least. I showed them an area on the garage apron with a crack I attempted to repair, they advised they would repair this along with the edges for an additional $35. Well worth it to me! They pointed out some areas where my flowers layed over on the driveway, explaining, if not trimed it could cause the sealer to splater. I had no problem with plants being cut back. So they trimed, and cleaned up the dirt, plant material on the whole driveway and parking area. The cracks were repaired, with nice clean edges. Rather than back their truck through a set of gates, they carried five gallon buckets of sealer down a steep grade into the back yard, to begin on a parking area, and under a second story deck. We are talking about additonal work, on an already hot day. All during the time they worked, I watched. They were careful to leave nice clean edges, avoid fencing, and other plants. Working around a set of deck posts, and stairs, with no sealer on any wood surfaces. There was no complaining, cussing or offensive language. They were pleasant, and very polite. The job was finished with a barracade in place. This is the second time I have had the black top sealed, since I bought the house. The last company showed up late, slopped sealer everywhere, throwing it down and rushing off. So I am very pleased with Premium Sealcoat!!!!!!!! Happy with both their price and their work. Prior to leaving I gave them each a cold soda, and tip! I also called the company to express what a great job they did!I It is so difficult to find, any company that takes pride in their work, but they certainly do.
Description of Work: Repaired larger crackers on edges of driveway, which I had not noticed. The repair cost was an additional, $35 which I felt was very reasonable to prevent the edges from crumbling. Sealed all of the black top.

They edged the driveway, used a broom to loosen dirt and then used a leaf blower to remove all debris. All cracks were sealed. The seal coat was applied in a professional manner even using small brushes around areas to prevent getting the seal coat on other structures. They decided the driveway was in bad enough shape that it needed a second coat. They came back out six hours later and applied second coat at no additional charge.

Received mailer with what I felt as a fair price. Scheduled on-line which saved an additional $5 and had an opening the very next day. Company arrived around noon and completed the work outlined on the mailer. This is my first time using this company. They have great reviews on here. I will follow up with this later this year to let you know if the seal coat kept it's color and lasted throughout the remainder of the year.
Description of Work: Fill cracks and seal driveway.
