I got my front and back landscape designed and installed by Rob Richter Landscaping. I love everything about my new landscape. They did a wonderful job and are great to work with. 10 out 10 would recommend!

This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with in my personal or professional career. Aside from the poor quality plants that were installed at my new home, to which several of them died within the first 12 months. The company buried a wire basket around my maple tree root ball. The metal basket began to work its way out of the ground. The exposed metal wire was broken, sharp, and rusted. I contacted Richter Landscaping on three separate occasions. The first conversation they said they would send someone down to address and remove the wire basket within a week. Over a week later and I had no service done to the tree, so I called back. On the second call I was informed Richter Landscaping leaves the wire basket in when planting their trees. When I explained the safety concern I had with the exposed wire, I was informed a service technician would trim back the wire within a week. Over a week later and I had no service done to the tree, so I called back. On the third call the woman answering the phone remembered me and said the owner said they were not going to come out and do anything about it. There was nothing wrong, and it was not a warranty item. At no point in time did Richter Landscaping contact me to inform me they were not coming to fulfill the service request. Now I am stuck with a poorly planted tree. I will need to remove the safety hazard on my own to allow my children to play in the yard. Richter Landscaping was contracted by Fischer Homes, and I had no choice in them as a landscaping company. Their online reviews are abysmal with numerous customer service complaints similar to my own. The company has zero pride in their workmanship and clearly does not care about their customers. I would encourage anyone considering them as a landscaping company to find another option. Remember cheap price often equals cheap quality.

I would not recommend hiring Rob Richter Landscaping. They are incredibly unprofessional. They do not keep promises to complete work and they honestly have a mentality to leave a job and take zero accountability for coming back to fix things. Very disappointed. Look elsewhere.

The responsiveness of this company is terrible and they will not honor any warranty no matter if it is justified. My builder eventually offered to pay to remove two dying trees, but this company refuses to give me a date only sometime this week. It is now Friday of the week they said they would be out still waiting on service. I would not use them for anything other than basic removal of plants and have absolutely no trust the quality of their plants or trees.
Description of Work: This landscaper was hired by the company that built my home to provide landscaping. They installed trees that were inappropriate for the area (pine trees that will eventually cause issues with porch and possibly foundation) and several of the trees are dying (they say act of god so not responsible, but I reported the tree issue back in July 2016 with no action). They also failed to do even a basic grading for rocks resulting in my having to spend hours removing surface rocks just to get the grass to grow in spots. I have been in the home for almost a year and have to invest nearly 3000 dollars to remove all of their plants and place appropriate plants.

The trees never seemed to thrive and by May one of the trees was almost completely brown and losing its needles. The other tree was not flourishing either, but not as troubled as the one. Richter Landscaping was contacted and workers came and replaced the obvious dead tree. By the end of June the second of those two trees had reached a similar fate and was dead and fully browning. Richter Landscaping was again contacted but failed to respond in any manner to persistent email messages that began on July 6 and continued throughout the month. I called on July 25, 2016 and was told the tree would not be replaced. Later that day, Rob Richter, the owner, emailed and indicated “We cannot cover the 2nd tree under our warranty. It states that we can warranty items for up to a year, provided proper care.” His own response acknowledges the presence of a one year warranty and his inference that proper care was not taken is 100% unfounded, especially given the fact that Richter has never been on my property to inspect these trees at any time. So, how would he know whether they were properly cared for or not? And how does he explain why the two trees standing next to the dead tree are in fine shape and have been for years? I responded to Richter's email and re-explained my position on this matter on July 25, 2016 and was ignored. With the tree clearly under warranty and no actual evidence whatsoever to suggest it was not cared for, there is no reason for the tree not to be replaced. Very inefficient handling of a sale, nonexistent communication, and poor treatment of a customer. Two trees planted at the same time, one died almost immediately, the other died soon thereafter. Surrounding trees doing well. Same care. The only sensible conclusion is that there was something wrong with those 2 particular trees. Just because one has a nursery with other trees that are flourishing means absolutely nothing. Whether it is a new car, a TV set, or puppies in a litter----just because most are doing well does not mean the particular item in question is inherently doing well. Other than faithfully watering the trees I don't even know what this mysterious "care" would have been that we supposedly did not do. If there were secret care instructions beyond the normal care given to a new tree I would think it would have been related by the employees who planted them. They offered NO care instructions whatsoever. It is beyond belief to me that a company would take such a stance and mistreat a customer to this extent, especially when their only response is based on a weak generalization that does not come close to being applicable in this case. That, coupled with Richter's terrible communication and indifferent attitude leaves only one warning...BEWARE!!!!
Description of Work: We purchased two trees at the end of March 2016 to complement two existing trees of the same type.

So, how would he know whether they were properly cared for or not? And how does he explain why the two trees standing next to the dead tree are in fine shape? The only trees that have died were the two "new" trees, which received the same or better care than the thriving trees. It defies logic to say there was not reasonable care taken. All the trees would be dead if you follow that flawed line of reasoning. It also defies logic for someone who has not been on the property to make such a determination based on absolutely nothing but his own desire to not make good on a warranty. Two trees planted at the same time, one died almost immediately, the other died soon thereafter. Surrounding trees doing well. Same care. The employees were courteous and accommodating--very professional. They were efficient, and completed the work in about 1/2 a day.
Description of Work: The provider brought in river rock to landscape 2 areas in my yard, laid sod and planted a large tree and some ornamental grasses. They also relocated some small trees and shrubs for me. This was done to fix some problems caused by my home builder, and so the builder paid for this to be done.

We have hard clay, and digging is a tough job. I found them when they were working on a model house in the neighborhood. It probably would have been better for them to remove the dirt from the beds, instead of piling it toward the back, but that would have made the job more expensive. One unusual thing they did was to blow the mulch, not shovel it. That technique gives the mulch a more even appearance. Next time, I think I'll just have them do the mulching, and not edge the beds. I will definitely will use them again.
Description of Work: I used Rob Richter Landscaping about 3 weeks ago. They put down 13 cubic yards of black painted mulch, and shoveled edged the garden beds. They also put Preen down before the mulch.
