Paul Davis Restoration - Monclova

If I could give them a double F, I would. No communication. The guy that put the floor just wasn't, it's horrible the way my floor is and the spots. He would leave a piece in there that was cracked and I would have to go through the next day and mark it. We actually started in September and I did not get done with them until November and it is still not to my or anyone's specifications. There are big gaps that you can see I had to fill. It was plank mohawk flooring. It was just a floor. I could go across it with my socks and I'd get a splinter. Then they ran out of floor and they had to reorder so I had big spots open until the order came. I've never seen such a mess in my life. My husband wasn't happy with them either. There was really nothing we could do. They had us between a rock and a hard place. We already gave them half down. Our floor was already here. At one point they even brought the wrong floor to my house and they had to go take it back and go get the other floor. It was just a nightmare. It was like A didn't know where B was. I don't know how they stay in business. They got triple A, you know like the bureau. I don't know how they do it after the fiasco I had. I absolutely would not use them again.

I called to arrange an estimate on a Thursday and was told I'd hear from someone later that day or the next. When I called back the following Wednesday, the office person said, "Oh, I was just going to call you." She then made an appointment for someone to come 13 days later. That would have been today. 30 minutes after the scheduled time, I called the office again, and this time she said,"Oh, we had to reschedule that. I left a message." No. There was no message. I asked why, if they didn't want a small job, they just didn't tell me. Her response was to cite storm damage that happened almost two months before as the reason they didn't send anyone out and they were scheduling non-insurance work estimates as at least two weeks after the phone request.

I really wanted to use Paul Davis (Airport Hwy, Toledo OH) because five years ago they did a great job on my mom's house. This time a man did come to the house in order to provide an estimate. He promised the estimate would be sent to me a few days later - but it did not come. I called his direct number at least 4 times, and he returned none of those voicemails until I finally called the company manager. We had a deadline to meet because of another contractor. Finally we had to hire a different company and pay overtime for Saturday work, because Paul Davis' non-responsiveness had pushed us to the end of our time limit. I assume they still do good work, but their communication was quite poor. Maybe we were too small for them - fine, but they could have let us know that sooner. By the way, when they finally provided the estimate (about 2 weeks later) it was twice the price of the company we actually used, and that company did an excellent job both with the work itself and with the all-important matter of communication.
