I was initially told that Toledo Edison might require a permit and that was the case. I was told the permit could cost from 150 to 200 dollars. I inquired with the Wood County Building Inspectors they told me the permit would be $40.40. I called the contractor and asked him about the fee. He said that he had to charge for his time to go and pick up the permit. Then he said since he had other permits to pick up he would only charge me $20.00. On the day of the repair he was at my house from about 9 in the morning till about 1:30 in the afternoon. There was a delay with the Edison getting the electricity turned off so there was waiting involved and no work performed. Once he was done he said to call the Edison and they would turn the electricity back on. He left and I waited and when the Edison showed up I was told that they weren't obligated to reconnect because the Building Inspectors hadn't approved the work. An inspection should have been scheduled to coincide with the job completion. The serviceman did go ahead and turn service back on anyway. The whole affair just didn't seem to go smoothly and I feel that a $699.50 fee ( labor, parts,& permit) was too high for the work performed. As far as the quality of the work I have no complaints. I just feel I was mislead about the the issues surrounding the process.
