 + 1 moreThis was a large job and may have taken a little longer to complete than planned. Davy started the job on July 28th and completed it on August 8th. They did lose one day because of the weather and also lost most of another. Most days there were 3 painters here. The 1st day there were 3, days 2 and 3 only 2, and the balance there were 3. There were many things to do and the trim seemed to take much longer than anticipated. Painting trim behind storm window frames is very labor intensive. Their crew was very professional and able to accomplish all of the tasks identified. They were also neat, courteous, friendly and productive. What more could you ask for? The house looks great; a job well done!
Description of Work: Davy Painting pressure washed, removed mildew, scraped, caulked, prepared and painted 2 coats on my 43 year old stucco and brick, with wood trim, one-floor ranch house, using Pittsburgh Manor Hall Paint. The stucco, front porch, soffits, and gutters and downspouts were painted white, including one wall inside the sunroom and all trim was painted a blue/green. They also replaced a section of soffit overhang over the electric meter, rebuilt a porch post on the front porch, replaced a brick-mold strip on the sunroom door, patched the threshold-sill on the sunroom door, and installed 12 new additional soffit vents for improved attic air flow. Other items prepped and painted were: an air-conditioning unit, garden gate and grate over front porch window-well were painted black and 2 gas grills in the sunroom, along with 2 grill control and cleanout doors were painted with black heat resistant paint. Three storm doors with removable screen and glass inserts were painted white as were both sides of the garage door. All windows including basement windows, and a 15 panel bay window in the sunroom were painted in the blue/green trim color including behind storm window frames, along with 3 exterior doors, and 3 sets of shutters. The electric meter, gas meter and a basement window exhaust fan were painted white. Davy Painting also installed 3 new porch lights and 2 new motion lights in place of the old ones, and 4 new basement window-well covers.

One day they insisted on coming late in the day which messed up my plans. The painting was fine, except railing going down to family room is rough and should have been sanded.
Description of Work: We had them out to do some exterior and interior painting done. I have a stucco home and they did the wood and the metal trim. Inside they painted a door and some railings.

 + -1 moreIt took them three months to paint my home, and during that time, there were many red flags that we should have considered early on. Since the job was finished, I have had problems with the paint. It is peeling all the way back to the cedar siding. I've called them for over a year regarding the issue, but they have yet to come out to fix it. The owner was great at first and very responsive, but now he brushes me off, giving me excuses for why they cannot come out and repair the issue.

 + 0 moreThe owner of the company met with us last fall and gave a fair and concise estimate that was very competitive with other paint companies. He even suggested that the home could hold up through the winter if we wanted to wait until spring. We appreciated his honesty and promises of the detailed service his company would provide: power wash home and back steps, replace any rotten cedar boards, fill all cracks and crevices visible, provide patchwork on areas where trimwork had worn out or was missing, paint frames on sliding door screens, polyurethane our front wooden door, remove and replace lights and numbers on home, protect landscaping around home and clean up yard each and every day. The team that performed the work was very courteous, easy to contact if needed, and helpful in choosing the correct paint colors. They started on time, finished within a week, and our house looks fresh and beautiful - with blooming bushes intact. Thank you, thank you! We highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Davy Painting painted entire exterior of cedar-sided, 30+ year-old home. They replaced rotted boards and filled holes from carpenter bees as well as finishing trimwork on two new basement windows that had been left incomplete by a previous company.

 + 0 moreOne of their painters did this as a side job. He was wonderful; He helped me pick out paint and went back to the paint store a couple of times to change colors. It was a very positive experience and I would hire them again.
Description of Work: Davy Painting removed wall paper and painted almost my whole house except two rooms. There were four bedrooms, four rooms downstairs and two and a half bathrooms. I think Davy Painting generally does larger jobs.

 + -1 moreJosh, the painter, did an outstanding job. He was meticulous and very thorough. I would not hesitate to use him again. I was told by Jim, the foreman for Davy, that it would take 3 or 4 days. Instead, because Josh had no help, it took 6 days. That was a downer since it tied us up for those 6 days instead of the 3 or 4 we expected. Other than that, it was a very positive experience.

 + -1 moreI trusted them. I inquired about the amount of paint they used since the warranty on Sherwin Williams paint state there must be two coats applied with a backbrush. The warranty is for eight years when applied correctly. They left me with three five gallon containers of paint. I called because my cedar siding started to look gray and black and when other painters look at it they advised this was due to not enough paint being used. I called and Roger Brewer, one of the owners of the company, came to look at the house. All he had to say was I should have called earlier and he blew me off. He offered no explanation, blaming it on the rough cedar.

 + -1 moreRoger, the owner, was great to deal with on the phone. He was professional, provided great information, and showed up when he said he would. The house painting experience, however, had some bumps. First, the color white I had chosen was not communicated to the painting team. The, the original house body color I chose turned out to be too dark, as it would ruin the vinyl siding on the addition if applied, and I had to make a last-minute change. (The painter assigned to the job had assumed the siding was aluminum and purchased the darker paint before looking to see what type of siding was on the house.) Davy picked up the price of this paint. I drove out to the house to pick a lighter color. I chose a lighter, warm grey. The painter assigned to the job misunderstood and purchased a cool grey. When I came home, I realized they had started painting the house in the wrong color, that is, the cool grey. Although the next day--even after the cool grey was applied--we agreed that I had chosen the warmer grey, I was asked to pay for the cool grey paint that was already purchased. I did so, assuming there was a miscommunication. Other than that, the project went smoothly, and the house looks great.

When we were informed by the roofer that some of the painting needed to be completed before the roofing job could start Roger worked us into his busy schedule and got the necessary painting completed. His crew then came out a couple of weeks later and completed the job. Shawn the crew boss did a great job and kept me informed as to the progress. The crew was very respectful of my property and my neighbors. The house looks great and I would definitely use Davy Painting again.

I did my homework, got a total of six estimates, and asked lots of questions. Roger from Davy Painting was the last estimate I received, and I knew by the end of the appointment that I would select Davy as the painters. Roger helped me save money by making recommendations on what I should replace and what I should just have painted (re: doors). He was down to earth and practical. Sean was the foreman on the job and he was great to have at my home. He worked quickly but always took time to keep me updated and answer questions. The work was extremely neat, work ethic was superior, and I couldn't be happier.

 + -1 moreI called for an estimate in may 2009 and was called back immediately. Mr Brewer came out the next day and was very specific about they would do according to my needs. The price was very competitive, and less than other companies I called,for the work they would do. I felt that he was a caring person, and would do a good job. I requested they start painting after July 4th because we were going out of town. On July 15th the guys came and powerwashed the house and deck. Next day 4 guys came and painted,caulked and sealed in one day. They were very clean and made sure all had been done the way I wanted it. I would definitely call them for any other jobs I had.
Description of Work: Painted my stucco house a different color and 6 shutters.My deck was cleaned and sealed. They also patched some stucco that had come off the bottom of the stucco walls.

 + -1 moreWe were extremely pleased with Davy Painting. They arrived promptly at the agreed time to survey the house and provided a timely quote. The owner was very interested in answering any questions we had and explaining how they would complete the job. He made several follow up phone calls while we were deciding who to select for the job. The work was done by the owners son-in-law and other workers. They were very respectful of our property as they did the work and cleaned up daily. They checked in with us at the end of each day to let us know the progress and work out specific details about the job. The result looks fantastic and we have recieved compliments from many neighbors. I have seen no blistering or peeling yet, which would probably show now if the job was not done correctly. They also painted our mailbox and address numbers, as well as some other fixtures that were not specifically agreed to up front, which was a nice bonus. We paid almost as much in 2002 to have a previous, smaller, house painted by Long Painting (a TERRIBLE company, if they are even still in business).

 + 0 moreI called for an estimate. Roger Brewer was the person I talked with. He was more than helpful. He asked a lot of questions and provided me with a lot of info about getting your house painted so that I could be more prepared for reviewing the estimates I received. Roger was the only estimator that followed up with me. The two man crew that came out did a fantastic job. They were very professional and cleaned up very, very well. My shutters are plastic and are in full sun every afternoon (for 16 years) so not surprising that one broke when they removed it. They went to several stores to find the right replacement for me. I appreciated that they 'fessed up to what happened and make it right. The paint job was just terrific. The house looks like new again.
Description of Work: Painted all the wood trim on my 2 story house along with the gutters, downspouts, shutters, front door and garage door. It was power washed, scraped, primed and painted with 2 coats. The paint was mostly sprayed. It was brushed on the front door and first level shutters. The downspouts were removed and painted properly.

 + -1 moreI left a message asking for a return call on April 21, 2009 at 6:00 pm. I received a call back about a week later. He did, however, explain that he had some personal issues that came up unexpectedly. I understand that things happen and I have no issue with this. I explained the work that I wanted to have done. He acted almost as if it wasn't substantial enough for him to even look at. He said that he wanted to save me some money, so instead of going through his actual company, he had some family members that are always looking to do some work "on the side." He said that way, I wouldn't have to contract with an actual painting company. He said that he would have one of these family members contact me and identify themselves as being with Davy Painting, but again, I wouldn't actually be hiring Davy Painting. After this conversation, I knew I was done, but I never did receive any type of follow up call.
Description of Work: I contacted this company to obtain an estimate to paint the trim, fascia, soffit, gutters, etc. of my home.

 + 0 moreRoger Brewer explained the procedure and was glad to answer any of my questions. He explained what brand and quality of paint they would be using. The painting was delayed due to rain. Roger was very good in keeping in contact with me to let me know if it was dry enough for them to proceed or wait. The work started on Thursday, April 23 and they painted throughout the weekend. I was delighted. They finished on Monday, April 27, just like they said they would.
Description of Work: The whole exterior of the house was powerwashed. This included the stone which is one half of the front. The rest is stucco and trim. Two coats of paint were applied to the stucco. It had not been painted since it was built 18 years ago. The wood, trim and gutters were also painted with two coats. The front wood door was varnished.
