The Davey Tree Expert Company- Cincinnati & N Cincinnati

My initial appointment with Jackson McClain was excellent - punctual, professional, personable and knowledgeable. On the day of service, I am glad I was home as I had to ask the workers to trim some more branches on one tree (they were sticking out much farther than other branches and it wasn't aesthetically good and it blocked a view from my windows) and also had to ask them to cut off a single large branch on another tree that looked really bizarre after the other trimming they had done on it. A week or so later I ended up trimming some branches off a third tree that were sticking way out beyond the other branches and were overhanging the sidewalk into my house. Positives included being worked in much sooner than expected; the crew was pleasant and cleaned up all the branches they cut.

person was punctual and very nice. Said he completed the work. I won't know for several weeks until I see if the vines die or not. I am extremely unhappy with the charges. The guy who did the estimate made it seem like it would be an entire day of work (very long treeline). The service person was here for 2.5 hours, and I am being charged $500 (for snipping vines, not removing them). Outrageously expensive. I would never hire them again.

The person who came out to gave me an estimate was very knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions, even the most basic ones, courteously. He gave me options and the costs of each option and let me make the decision as to what I wanted done, without any pressure. He warned me that an exact date for the removal could not be given because when there is inclement weather they cannot work and all the scheduled jobs get pushed back. In a couple weeks when I asked where I was on the schedule, it wasn't long after that they they started. A couple servicemen had one half day free to start taking down the tree, but then I had to wait a week and a half after that until a full crew could come for a whole day of work to finish taking the tree down and trim the other tree. I knew they were trying to get the work done as soon as they were able. Be mindful that machinery may be needed to haul out large sections of the tree trunk. It can damage your lawn so that you will need to reseed afterwards. The area where the tree was brought down was away from the house and other trees and the lawn underneath it quickly recovered. They cleaned up all of the debris afterwards. Stump grinding/removal is an additional cost which I did not schedule at this time.

They did what they supposed to do and did an OK job.

I am very pleased with the Davey crew and have already recommended them to others. Dave was very responsive to my concerns and established my trust with his knowledge of trees. He is an arborist and clearly loves trees. His crew was very professional and efficient in trimming five trees, and cutting down a spruce tree that Dave determined to be diseased and possibly harmful to another. Dave also identified two smaller maple trees and an ash that needed to be treated. All of this for a reasonable price. It made such a difference to have an arborist with Dave's knowledge base able to evaluate the trees. I had two other estimates by persons who suggested cutting down three of my trees. I had enough information myself to question their recommendations. I will continue to work with Davey Tree Experts when I need help in the future.

Davey does an excellent, professional job with tree removal. They are also very respectful of the yard, other than the specific areas where they are doing removals. They are also very considerate of neighbors; last year they removed a large tree in the back for me that required using the neighbor's driveway to access the tree for removal, and the neighbors were as impressed with their work as I was. I obtained the neighbors permission beforehand, of course, but the considerateness of Davey in relating to my neighbors was exceptional. In fact, there was one small area at the opening of the neighbors' driveway where Davey's truck accidentally gouged out a little of the grassy area next to the drive, and the arborist for Davey offered to come back and redo the landscaping there (free of charge). They always bring the correct equipment to do the job properly, and not risk damaging the home or driveways or other areas of the yard. They obviously give significant consideration to safety, which I place a high value upon, especially with work that can be dangerous like this if proper procedures are not put in place. I have worked with two of their arborists now, both extremely knowledgeable and enjoyable to deal with. They take the time to walk the yard and do a careful review of the landscape with the homeowner. I always feel like I learn something from them about trees, and the specific plantings in my yard, which is fun as well. I had planned to write an enthusiastic review last year, but was waiting for some work to be completed first. There was a delay in completing some stump grinding but really not a fault of Davey Tree; the delays were due to a combination of prohibitive weather and some other work I had going on at my home that made it impossible for them to access the area of the yard where the stumps were located. Because of the size of the company, they are also able to afford to bring in the various types of special equipment sometimes required to properly do tree work, which can be beneficial if one has a yard where not every spot is conveniently accessible. They have been very accurate with respect to doing exactly the work I have requested, and not missing trees or doing the wrong ones. They have even been kind enough to add something at the last minute I have overlooked, in one case not charging for a very small bush, and saving me having to schedule another time for that. They are very clean in their work, and careful with the cleanup. I have been very pleased with the quality of their work, and the quality of the employees, their professionalism and simple considerateness.

A storm damaged the top of our large sycamore. Davey Tree removed the damaged portion, but they initially left a mess in our driveway -- branches and detritus everywhere in the driveway and yard, including several pieces large enough that we couldn't pull our car in the driveway without first moving them to the side. We called them back that evening to complain, and they came out two days later to clean up the mess. While I wish they'd simply cleaned up after themselves the first time, I do appreciate that they came back out to fix the problem without charging us or giving us any further issues.

Went great. On time and saved the tree.

All work was performed timely and diligently.

The weather is currently too wet for them to come out and complete the job. I'd like to revisit this revue later and hopefully raise my evaluations.

They had to bring a crane in to get the tree down. It was a major job getting that tree down. It was a very old and large tree. It was infected and threatening my house. They did a fantastic job. They didn't damage any fences or landscaping. They carted away all everything from the job. Considering that they had to bring in all of the extra equipment, and that there were six guys on the job for a day, I think it was a reasonable price. I use them all of the time. They have a continuing contract to treat all of my Ash trees.

I have used Davey Tree Expert service for over 30 years for maintenance of the lawn, trees, and landscaping. On this project, their work was as good as ever.

Very good. They seemed very professional as far as the equipment they were using, and they apparently knew what they were doing. They seemed to be operating safely and they did a good job cleaning up. I really don't have any frame of reference, it seemed reasonable. They did it very quickly.

They're fine, they're just a good company. I didn't actually hire them. The quote was a lot. They're very professional. They're not very responsive. They do a good job.

They come almost once a month and I use them year round.

Went great! Brian was out on time for the estimate, and the crew arrived on time, as planned, for the removal. All were professional, worked hard, did a great job. They did a wonderful clean up job as well. I was pleased and impressed!

We were very please at the service and the work that was done. They came when they said they would and cleaned everything up so you didn't even know they had been there.

Team of 3 was prompt, communicative. Checked in with me often to make sure job was being done to my satisfaction and advise on cuts being made. Removed some dead branches from pine trees while onsite (bonus). Cleaned all debris satisfactorily.

They did a wonderful job and were in and out within 45 minutes for the tree removal. Stump remover came a few hours later and was done in 15 minutes. Pretty incredible work!

We decided just not to do the work yet. The bid was a pretty strong bid, but we've held off on doing that work.

They did a good job even though my grass died in spots and had to be reseeded. I was told that my trees had mites and they would come back to treat in spring of 2017. It is now June 2017 and after calling 4 times with no response, I cancelled my service.

This place is wonderful! Someone answers phone when you call. They are friendly and professional. Prompt scheduling for estimate. Estimator right on time with professional expertise from certified arborist. Prices are fair and reasonable. Work is scheduled promptly. Workers are thorough and professional. Good clean up. Why aren't more places like this? You can even pay bill online.

Did an excellent job with the tree removal. Priced higher than other quotes, but we were happy with the work.

I know approximately when they are coming and what it will cost. We are happy with them and have been using them for 10 years.

The tree was hanging over our house and was a concern anytime we had a storm. They removed the tree with no damage to our property and hauled it away. They did a great job.
