Stealth Foundation

I had evidence (cracks in walls, doors out of plumb, etc.) that the foundation of my house might be sinking. I decided to get three estimates from top rated Angie's list companies to fix the problem. Each vendor identified the same problem and the same solution. Piers needed to be sunk on the side of the house where the sinking was occurring. However, the scope of the estimates to repair the sinking problem ranged from $4500 to $10,000. Steve Cohen of Stealth Foundation. was the only vendor who said he was not sure of the scope of repairs needed and he recommended I hire a structural engineer to give me an opinion. The structural engineer said I only needed three piers sunk at the corner of the house to stabilize the foundation, which was in line with the lowest bid I had received. The structural engineer opinion cost $150 and I consider it money well spent. I chose Steve Cohen and Stealth Foundation to perform the repairs even though his cost was slightly higher that the lowest bid. I appreciated his honesty and felt like he was looking out for my best interest. The work was done in one day and I received a transferable warranty from Stealth Foundation.

I am incredibly pleased with the service I received. He explained everything they did and why they needed to do it. I had purchased the deal on Angie's List for an inspection, but couldn't get around to actually taking care of calling them to come check it out for over a year. They still honored the inspection with no problem. Since I didn't know much at all about the basement and how the crack in the wall happened, etc, it was wonderful to get it explained to me. It was better still that they didn't 'talk down' to me as some places tend to because I am a woman.

My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I am very particular about who I let in our home. I felt incredibly comfortable having Steve and his crew working in my home, even while I wasn't there. I hope I never need foundation work done again, but if I do I will absolutely use Stealth Foundation. I have recommended them to everyone I know and will continue to do so. They are the most genuine and helpful company I've ever worked with.

I needed some cracks filled that were leaking. They do not fix leaks in foundation. What he had to say about a bowed foundation was knowledgeable and a way to go if that is what you needed done. This was not my issue.

. They started on the scheduled .time They were professional.. They cleaned the floor that had been neglected by the cleaning company that had been hired for that purpose.

Context: I am under contract on a 100 year old house I am selling and the appraisal came back suggesting we have a structural engineer survey the property due to "wavy" floors. The engineer came and gave a VERY subjective and confusing report that left all of us wondering if anything needed to be done, including the lender. That said, the lender required we have the work done that the engineer suggested, which would have cost us $10K. I had Steve come out to quote per the engineer's report, and he noticed how inaccurate and weird it was. He went to my property twice and quoted me on steel I-Beam supports, saying it wouldn't need what the engineer was suggesting. I let Steve know that it was in the lender's hands now and that the lender was requiring the work, so Steve referred me to another engineer to get a second opinion and even offered to come out and walk the engineer through. He then followed up with me to make sure I was taken care of. In all honesty, I've never seen such professionalism and was blown away by Steve's willingness to help, even though by helping me it meant not getting my business. The engineer he recommended corroborated Steve's opinion and recommended NO WORK needed to be done, saving me potentially $10K. Steve rocks. Go with him for whatever you need.

Steve and his son were on time, were very professional, very knowledgeable and the price was very reasonable. They did a fine job and completed it in one day. We are so glad to have had these guys to do the job. The problem has been fixed and we are very grateful for that.

Stealth Foundation were really professional and really prompt. They were there when they said they were going to be. The price was fair. We didn't feel like we were being swindled. They didn't tell us things needed repair when they didn't.

It went very well. Cleaned up well after he finished. It was a good job done.

One of the problems for me was that the entire back of house foundation would need to be treated. That is, there would be beams placed every so many feet across the back. At the time I was about ready to put my house on the market. If all the back was just cinder blocks I would have gone ahead and had the work done. It was going to cost me more for the panel wall or possibly drywall to be put back up to make that room return to be "finished". More than the cost to me was that I would not be able to show the house in a state of reconstruction. I called and explained the situation and said I was planning to declair the potential problem to realtor and would provide all the literature and contact information I had. I will also provided info as to why I would recommend solution that Stealth Foundation research I had done. I have nothing but positive impressions with this company.

I am still waiting for the company that did the work to come out & take a look at what's going on. They are on Angie's List. & I will be writing a review on them.

I have an 80 foot retaining wall that needs repaired. I emailed Steve Sunday morning and he returned my email requesting more info that same morning. I emailed him some photos along with other details and he called me on the phone. He indicated he's not the right person for this job and was extremely honest and referred me to some other companies. I wouldn't hesitate to use his company or refer him to any friends. This is the type of person I would want to do business with. Obviously I can't comment on price or punctuality, but he's very professional to deal with.

Stephen was so professional, responsive and punctual. He came out on a Saturday morning to give us a quote on a pressing matter, our cracked foundation. Our insurance company threatened to drop us if we didn't get those cracks fixed. He came out and assured us everything was ok and wrote out something for us to send to our insurance company. The insurance company accepted his professional advice given his company's great reputation and standing! We feel that what Stephen did was a free good-will service, he helped us out so much!

I recently had to tear out the remains of my partially finished basement due to mold and needed a professional to inspect the newly exposed foundation cracks once paneling was removed. While there was no way to determine if there was a water leak - weather had been dry - he was able provide valuable info about previous repairs and waterproofing that had been done. He also stated that he would suggest going with the original waterproofing company if the warranty was still active, in order to avoid the chance of voiding that warranty. I appreciated his professional attitude and demeanor.

Provider assessed entire structure for foundation issues and water leakage into basement. Repair procedures were clearly outlined. Provider submitted estimate for work within 7 days of assessment. Provider carefully explained all issues and necessary repairs. Estimate seemed appropriate for work that needs to be done. Provider was prompt, very professional and did a thorough job.

It went great. He advised that the cracks were not anything major and gave some suggestions on how to take of the problem myself. Very nice and professional. Would not hesitate to call him in the future.

Provider was very prompt in contacting us and setting up a mutually agreeable time for the inspection. He arrived on time and inspected all of the inside and outside of the foundation that was visible. He explained how he was testing for problems and what he found. For example, it was easy to see that parts of the wall were slightly bowed by placing a long level against it. Additionally, he mentioned other potentially contributing factors such as mulch being piled so high against the foundation that the mulch reached the brick part of the house. We can address this ourselves. Also, he mentioned that a dehumidifier in the area where we had some water might be helpful. He provided an assessment for dealing with the bowing walls in a timely manner. However, parts of our basement walls are covered by wall paneling. Once we remove the paneling, Stealth said they could then evaluate those areas. Then we will decide how to proceed once we have the full picture. We think this process is worth the $55 we paid for it.

We were looking into doing some landscaping around the walkout basement and wanted him to look at the 'grade' of our property. We were also concerned because under our front porch we noticed water 'pooling' at the foundation. SF took a look at everything and said we were fine...it was all sealed. Great service! Super friendly, honest and genuine. If I needed any major foundation work completed, I would hire SF in a second!

He was very dilligant, looked at all the cracks in my drywall, checked my basement and told me my foundation was okay. He said the problem was the clay soil I am sitting on and assured me I had no issues. He explained everything thoroughly and I appreciated that.

I was very happy and I would go back to him again. It was kind of an unusual. It’s actually a house we were looking to purchase. I was really appreciative over the fact that he’s king of getting between us and the current owner and the fact that he actually took the time to come back out and meet with me after he done the quote for the owner. He is very responsive. I appreciated everything that he did. He also responded by e-mail. I thought he went above and beyond.

He was on time and prompt. They provided the estimate, but we have not completed the work. He explained things very well and we were very pleased.

He came over and told me what I couldn't afford, but I guess that's what I wanted to hear. It's not that I couldn't afford it, but I wanted to know all that was wrong. It was hi-tech at $12,000 to $15,000, so I thought I'd pass. He came out pretty immediately and was very knowledgeable. I showed him all the problems and he kind of explained what was going on and what the life expectancy of everything was. He was very good. I've never heard of this guy before, but he obviously knows what he's doing. He couldn't have been more considerate. I'm in the service industry myself and I model my whole delivery on doing what the customer asks, like being punctual and giving them a little more than they ask for. He did all of that. Most of the things I asked the price on he has no way to know until he starts digging and finding out. I did say to him that I'm only going to be here another year and this is not something I'm going to recoup when I sell the house. He said unless I just have money to burn I might just want to let it ride because I told him upfront that I'm probably going to sell the house as is and not doing anything major. My curiosity was just seeing how serious it was so I can inform the next buyer and if there's anything I can do in the short term. He had some good advice all around. I was talking to one of my friends who has a cinder block foundation like I do on an older 1950's house and they're having some issues, so I copied Stealth Foundation's card and gave it to him.

They were great to work with. They were in the ballpark on price with the quote they provided. They were professional and thorough.
