Stealth Foundation,LLC's website says they have served as a trusted adviser to Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky homeowners for over thirty years; however, BBB Ohio indicates that the business was incorporated March 1, 2010 - 6 years ago. In the end, we did not have any work performed by Stealth Foundations, but the following should be a cautionary tale for anyone looking at this company to do foundation repair. We found reputable contractors for nearly half the money and whose work creates less disruption to the surrounding area. In October, we contacted Stealth regarding a garage corner that appeared to my husband and I to be settling - cracking in the brick veneer. The owner, Mr. Steve Cohen, promptly visited our home. He did not think we had a foundation issue, but rather a problem with the lintel above the garage doors. Subsequently we had a masonry contractor offer his assessment. He too thought it was a foundation problem and so we contacted a structural engineer. Mr. Cohen was present when the engineer advised that it was a settling issue and recommended the installation of 2 steel piers. There is a gate, fence, hedge and sidewalk in the same area. We had an extensive discussion with Mr. Cohen regarding access requirements to get the job done. He informed us that the fence post located directly beside the garage corner would have to be removed. I was concerned about the shrubbery nearest the garage, but Mr. Cohen deemed that the removal of the fence and relocation of 2 shrubs further down would provide the necessary space (six feet) required for his equipment. On November 2, 2016 Mr. Cohen submitted his proposal to "install 2 heavy helical piers, with the owner being responsible for obstructions to include shrubbery, fencing and concrete" at a cost of $3880.00 (included a discount of $800 for being a Angie's List member). My husband clarified, via email, what we were expected to do and accepted the proposal. It was determined that the earliest date the work could be done would be November 29 (Mr. Cohen and ourselves had prior obligations). Following this, Mr. Cohen delayed the job a number of times. On more than one occasion my husband reached out to Mr. Cohen to try and firm up a date. In the meantime, my husband had removed fencing and posts to provide the required access. On Sunday, December 11 at 8:30 pm Mr. Cohen texted my husband to inform us that work would commence the next morning at 8am. The next morning Mr. Cohen called to say that there was an issue with a piece of equipment and they would be late. Approximately at 9:45 Mr. Cohen's son and another worker arrived with a backhoe. His son informed us that the access provided was not acceptable because he needed 6 feet directly beside the garage in order to dig. We would have to remove the gate, another post, fence rails and shrubbery. We tried to reach Mr. Cohen, but his son said that he was in a meeting. His son said that they could break up and remove the small sidewalk, but could not do the other work to get the site ready. His son then offered to come back the next day and we told him that we would contact his father to confirm. We then proceeded to remove the remaining fence, posts, gate and shrubbery. Around 12:30 pm my husband sent a text to Mr. Cohen to confirm plans for the next day. His response was, "I am in a meeting right now but wanted you to know we won't be back. I will go into further details later". That is the last we heard from Mr. Steve Cohen.

The customer had contracted to install piers and they were to remove bush and fencing which complaint stated. Our crew came out as scheduled and began unloading equipment when we noticed nothing had been moved. The homeowners were outside looking at work area. Our production manager went over to ask about the obstructions that hadn't been removed and she immediately started using vulgar language toward her husband, cussing him out and letting him know how stupid he was for not having the work area prepared. She continued yelling and acting irrational. She told us to leave and was so frustrated with her husband she wasn't sure if she wanted us to return to do the work. The issue was the removal of a small evergreen bush. My crew loaded up and left as instructed. The husband called me 2 hours later wanting us to return. I called back and left a message that we would not be returning to do the work due to the irrational behavior that we witnessed. If a job starts out that way there is no way I would continue to do business with them. Later that day the wife left me a nasty voicemail screaming how she will blast me with negative reviews and what a horrible owner I was. It appears that I had done them a favor since work was performed by someone else for half the price. They obtained 4 bids including mine to do the work and we were great until not returning. We are not in the business of showing up to a job and leaving for the fun of it. We lost a day of work due to this display and was confident that the right decision was made.

After my leaving a message, Steve returned my call the same day and set up an appointment for a couple of days later. He arrived on time, and we discussed my issue. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He asked if they could cement the new support beam in place and take out an old wooden shelf since it was in the way. I received a bid a couple of days later and took my time to accept it. Once I did, he said that it would be a couple of weeks. He emailed a couple of day later and said he could get the work completed within the week. The crew showed up on the scheduled day, and all I had to do was let them in. I left, and when I returned a few hours later, the work was completed, the garage door down and everything was cleaned! Very professional and Steve (the owner) was very responsive by email. Thanks, Steve!

I felt like the team were very considerate of my home (not normal these days). While the price may have been higher than others, I checked the BBB, etc for this company. No worries. He had mentioned a timeframe that the work could be done and while the time was approaching, I had not heard from him. I contacted him. So.....yes, he could be a little more proactive in letting his customers know when to expect him....his team made up for that hiccup with me (and we can all let time get away from us, right?). I would hire this company again without question. I feel like my home was in good hands and when you are talking about the sizeable investment of a home, you want your home in the right hands, right?
Description of Work: Steve came out pretty fast. He was friendly and professional. It did take a couple emails for us to finalize the date he could do the work. Part of that was due to my having to have termite inspection and treatment and coordinating everything.

I am always happy to hear that our crew does a great job. I never get tired of hearing that. They truly care about there work and the company. I am very sorry about any scheduling difficulties. I know you had to get the crawl space treated for termites and you went away with your mother for a bit. I apologize for any miscommunications we had. It is my intention always to communicate and be attentive to all customers. Thanks again for the positive response for your experience. I contacted the company in mid September and Steve was scheduled to come out on a Saturday at the end of September. Two days before the appointment he left me a short message that he can't make it and will reschedule which he did. Not a big deal. When he finally came out he told me quickly his recommendation and I agreed. I was told that his schedule would allow him to fix the crack in 2-3 weeks max which sounded good as I got ready to install new flooring. However, a few weeks go by, and Steve, who is very responsive on email, keeps pushing it out. Mid October he suddenly offers to do the work on a one day notice which unfortunately did not work out for us that day. Finally, after 7 weeks, now end of November, just before Thanksgiving, he responds to my latest email that he won't be able to do the job for at least another 4 weeks and that he recommends me to look for someone else to do the job. Not even an apology - he just got upset and replies: "I let you know I would start and you didn't call me back for a week [well, not quite, it was a day]. It would have been done. Definitely better we did not do business". One the bright side, by recommendation from my floor guy who was doing my basement at the same time, I called a different small A+ rated company who came out 2 days later and offered to do exactly the same work at half the cost. Saved me $800!

That was an interesting interpretation of events. I responded to your email initially regarding scheduling your work and how soon we could do your job. I stated approximately 3 weeks on Oct.1. On Oct 15th, you emailed a message about how urgent it was that your job be completed before winter. On Oct. 16th, I replied that we could start on Oct. 18th and wanted you to confirm that date was good for you, too. The next day I sent another email and phone message stating that I would need to hear back before 5pm or I would need to schedule another job. On Oct. 24th. you finally responded that you and your wife had a cold and couldn't email? You wanted to be put back on our schedule and I stated that we are now scheduling out 4 weeks. I then received a rude message from you and I responded back that the work would have been completed already if you would have responded to my email and phone msgs on Oct. 16 & 17th. I also let you know that I would understand if you contracted with another company that could do the work sooner. So, under the circumstances I don't understand how this reflects poorly on me. I was as accommodating as I could be. Best Regards.

Wonderful experience as it was one of the few times I've had a contractor not try and sell me something I didn't need! Steve explained that it really wasn't a foundation problem and I didn't need to have piers put in - that floor jacking would probably solve my problem as my foundation looked to be fine - just the slab the hearth sits on was sinking, causing the cracks in the mortar. This was a relief to me as this is much less expensive than I was anticipating. And since Stealth doesn't do floor jacking he wasn't making any money off of me....nice to find an honest, friendly contractor! If I ever need to have my foundation repaired, Stealth will be the first company I call!

Steve came out to perform an evaluation on cracked foundation and a couple small areas that had previously leaked in the basement. Steve was punctual, very responsive and very knowledgeable about foundations and proper repair. Most impressive was how honest Steve was; Steve said that he wouldn't waste any money right now on a fix because there really didn't appear to be an issue. This honesty was greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend Stealth Foundations for their services.

Stealth was very professional and friendly. They had a quick response to our request for an estimate and gave us good advice and a fair price. We consulted with a structural engineer before proceeding with the work and Stealth was the most in line with the engineer's recommendations and had the most reasonable price. They completed the work in one day and so far everything appears to be repaired. I would recommend Stealth Foundation and would use them again in the future if the need ever arises.

I had evidence (cracks in walls, doors out of plumb, etc.) that the foundation of my house might be sinking. I decided to get three estimates from top rated Angie's list companies to fix the problem. Each vendor identified the same problem and the same solution. Piers needed to be sunk on the side of the house where the sinking was occurring. However, the scope of the estimates to repair the sinking problem ranged from $4500 to $10,000. Steve Cohen of Stealth Foundation. was the only vendor who said he was not sure of the scope of repairs needed and he recommended I hire a structural engineer to give me an opinion. The structural engineer said I only needed three piers sunk at the corner of the house to stabilize the foundation, which was in line with the lowest bid I had received. The structural engineer opinion cost $150 and I consider it money well spent. I chose Steve Cohen and Stealth Foundation to perform the repairs even though his cost was slightly higher that the lowest bid. I appreciated his honesty and felt like he was looking out for my best interest. The work was done in one day and I received a transferable warranty from Stealth Foundation.

I am incredibly pleased with the service I received. He explained everything they did and why they needed to do it. I had purchased the deal on Angie's List for an inspection, but couldn't get around to actually taking care of calling them to come check it out for over a year. They still honored the inspection with no problem. Since I didn't know much at all about the basement and how the crack in the wall happened, etc, it was wonderful to get it explained to me. It was better still that they didn't 'talk down' to me as some places tend to because I am a woman.
Description of Work: I met with the owner and explained what the issue was with our basement. He explained what was happening and what is causing the problem. He emailed me a quote that night and we scheduled the work to begin two days later. He and his crew arrived ready to work----they did interior trench(?) for water-proofing. It was done about 15 years ago before we purchased the house, but needed to be redone. Also, they installed large steel beams for support along the exterior walls and down the center support beam. They cleaned up the mess and it took two full days for the work and cleanup.

My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I am very particular about who I let in our home. I felt incredibly comfortable having Steve and his crew working in my home, even while I wasn't there. I hope I never need foundation work done again, but if I do I will absolutely use Stealth Foundation. I have recommended them to everyone I know and will continue to do so. They are the most genuine and helpful company I've ever worked with.
Description of Work: Steve came out and met with my wife and explained to her that our bowing walls needed his patented I Beam support in order to stop the bowing. At this point it had come out almost 4 inches in some areas! Steve and his crew came out and not only installed a number of beams, but also installed a sump pump to keep water from coming in in the future. They were on time, if not early every day they were at my house. Incredibly professional and easy to work with.
