Posting my email to Madison Tree, below. Sent 4/26/23. No response. Cannot believe they treat people like this and put their safety at risk. I called your office on 4/24 in an effort to obtain some information on your policy/protocol around tree removal as it relates to close neighbors whose property and safety are affected by your work. No one called me back. I live next door to the staging area your crew used Wed – Fri of last week to remove some trees from [Hyde Park home]. I barely know that homeowner and I had no idea this work would be taking place. I even spoke to one of your supervisors (?) on Wed morning to see what was going on. He failed to inform me at that time that my back yard would be unusable and unsafe for 3 days. As it turned out, my house was not safe either. On Thurs morning, my lawn guy showed up, as scheduled, to do my spring cleanup. One of your guys told him he had “30 seconds” to get out of my back yard. Nice. At 5.30pm on Fri, I looked out the 2nd floor back window and saw the crane, holding a large piece of tree trunk, suspended over the NE corner of my house. I went outside and told one of your employees to tell the crane operator to stay away from my house. His reply was: We’re done and we weren’t anywhere near your house. This was a lie and I don’t appreciate being gaslighted. I challenged his lie and an argument ensued. He continued to lie and F-bombs were dropped on both sides. I then spoke with a second employee who didn’t deny the crane was suspended over my house, but kept talking about risk mitigation. The problem is that while they mitigated the risk of your paying customer, they did nothing at all mitigate risk to my property or to me – which sounds like a company policy. Why would you allow your employees to treat people like this? You show up unannounced, denying me notice that I am losing the use of part of my property for several days, put me and my house at risk, and then lie about it. I had [different tree service] do my tree work several years ago and I cannot imagine they would have treated my neighbors like this under any circumstances. (Your crew also backed into my fence on Wed. Since the developer’s demo guys already hit it, that’s on him, but the fact that your guys smashed it even further and said nothing about it to me, says even more about you as a company.) This kind of behavior makes the mission and values statement you posted on your website a complete joke.
Description of Work: See above. They disrespect neighbors and disregard their safety. So easy to provide a heads up to neighbors yet they do not.

They come to the door and call before they come out. They did Exactly as i had asked, they do pruning of trees and shrubs, and they do a great job on it. They also come out once a year to inspect work that will need to be done next.

I have 2 in the back and 1 in the front. I've had my trees trimmed a couple of times and they did that for me but the most recent was the fertilizer. They have a big truck with a long hose on it. I don't think I was even here. They come up and they force the fertilizer into the ground under pressure. It leaves little holes in the yard here and there and then you get a bill. No muss no fuss. It's not a lot to pay if you can keep your trees for a while. They do a good job. They come and take care of business. There's no critical time, they'll tell you in the spring. They don't tell you we'll be here at this date and this time. They just say they'll be there in the spring and that's the way that works. They did it in the spring. For my tree trimming they come and do a good job. They have people who are trained arborists and they know the correct way to trim a tree. Not everybody does. You can kill a tree if you don't trim it correctly. My trees are doing fine and I am confident they know the correct way to do it and they are giving me good advice on how to keep them going and to keep my trees alive and healthy. I do the limb cleanup myself.

This is a follow-up of my 4-14-2012 review. I've had mixed results with this company. For transplanting some trees, they were great, but based upon my experience, I want to pass on a word of caution to those who are contemplating treating their ash trees for the emerald ash borer. We paid close to $1000 to treat 3 ash trees twice, once in 2012, and once in 2014. They wanted to treat them again this year, but only 2 of them, because one of the ash trees is on its way out, and they wanted to remove it for a lot of money. We can't see paying for another expensive treatment when we're not sure how effective the treatments are. One of the other ash trees doesn't look as good as it used to. Jon is a very pleasant person to work with, and I've had good conversations with people in their office too.

For any challenging situation, I would always go to Madison. They aren't cheap, but in the long run, their excellent work is worth the money. They come on time; they get the work done; they have the proper equipment, pay attention to safety and to preserving surrounding plantings, and are unfailingly honest about whatever situation you have to deal with. They're great.
Description of Work: I have used Madison for years to trim very large old trees and take out very large trees. They are absolutely reliable, give good advice, and their advice is trustworthy. I have just had them out yesterday to give me an estimate for a very large mulberry tree that hangs over my neighbor's yard and a busy street. They have cut it back several times, and they please me by taking a careful and judicious approach to the trimming. They trim only as much as necessary and don't risk harming this venerable old giant of a tree. I have given up on any other tree service. Madison comes when they say they're coming, they give good advice, and they have done, in my experience, absolutely top notch work. I like them very much and would heartily recommend them.

They did a good job cleaning up and they were there when they said they would be. They did a good job of clearing out old wood and debris. Unfortunately, one of the wrong trees was taken down during the process. We've used them before and this had never happened previously and I saw it as an honest mistake. In the past, they did an incredible job removing a very large, 80+ foot oak tree in our front yard without incident.

Richard Butcher came promptly after I called, in mid September, to give estimate to trim 25 yr old Aristocrat pear tree. There were no cracked forks, and I wanted to keep the tree, if possible. He said it has some good years left, but pointed out a limb that could use cabling, to prevent future cracking. I signed agreement on 9/24/14. I was expecting them to come soon thereafter, as I had pointed out to Mr. Butcher that there were branches close to house that I was afraid of damage in high winds. I contacted them in late November to see what the holdup was; they then scheduled service for 12/4/14, and indeed did all the trimming that day. Mark did the trimming and his cleanup guy Jeremy both did fantastic jobs that I am very pleased with; Mark drastically trimmed my ugly tree into one I can't wait for spring to see the blooms and the new general shaping. It looks like he took 1/2 the tree, including taking abt 8-10 ft off top, which I didn't think was possible (Mr Butcher says it's OK to "top" pear trees; they can take it.) I'd used Madison once before, removing a hard Maple tree, in a previous home in Oakley; I remembered how great a job they did on that, so they were the 1st company I called for this job, and despite cheaper estimates, I wanted a true pro to evaluate, and put my pear tree in best possible health/shape for future enjoyment. My only complaint is why did it take so long; I ended up having minor shingle damage, due to aforementioned branches hitting house. I can understand waiting to trim when leaves gone; maybe it gave them better idea on how to shape it, but then why didn't they tell me that in the 1st place? I could have had someone at least trim those branches away from house before I forgot about it...and...damage done...my bad. I also just can't bring myself to give them an A in pricing, because they are rather expensive (700 for trim; 150 for cabling), but I'm still glad I had such good and professional people.

We were thrilled to learn that expensive and extensive remediation of the silver maple wouldn't be necessary and we could retain this large tree. His honesty and expertise really impressed us. This company had been recommended by knowledgeable friends and we understand why. We will have Madison provide some treatment next spring to our Japanese Maple and boxwoods at a very reasonable cost.
Description of Work: Madison Tree Care and Landscaping came to our home to provide their expert evaluation of a silver maple growing in our yard. We had become quite concerned about the possible need to remove a huge, shade providing tree because of its root system. We also knew there were other possible actions that were quite extensive and expensive. Jonathon evaluated the tree, its root system and said that in his opinion we didn't need to take any of these actions. While he was at our home he also evaluated our Japanese maple and boxwoods about potential problems.

.Requested estimate in early August 2014 to trim 2 overgrown crab trees and cut down a third crab tree. Received estimate within a few days on 08/13/14. After a couple weeks, no work was done and I called office to find the scheduled date. I was told mid-October. When I stated that was unacceptable, the office had my estimator call me. He said it would be done on 09/22/14. During the waiting time, I found someone to cut down the one crabtree at a very reasonable rate. On the scheduled work date of 09/22/14 a two man crew showed up early a.m. as promised and immediately started to work on the trimming. They were very efficient and cleaned up nicely after their work. I was very pleased with their professionalism. Unfortunately, I probably won't use Madison Tree Care in the future due to the very high price. When these 2 trees get overgrown again, I'll just have them cut down.

They were really easy to work with. When the estimator came out to the house, he called me at work and we were able to go over the entire job on the phone which saved me a trip home and probably an hour of my time. We trusted them to come and do the work also while we were at work. We were very pleased with the way everything worked out.
Description of Work: Madison pruned several trees in our yard and did an expert job on all of them. One tree in particular (a mulberry), which has always been an eyesore is located in a tight spot at the corner of our driveway and the alley that runs behind our house. I have never liked that tree. We considered having it cut down. But I decided to wait and see how it would look limbed up and shaped up. Madison did an outstanding job! The tree is beautiful now! It's elegant, and shapely and still provides nice shade without being intrusive and ugly. I admire it every day.

They were very attentive to our needs including avoidance of part of the lawn as we had requested. The trees were taken down in an order that had been determined to do as little damage to adjacent trees as possible. Watching them take down a huge tree near our woods precisely where they wanted it to go was fascinating. And they helped us greatly by sectioning the larger trees and taking these huge sections down into the woods for us. We are quite pleased that we chose Madison Tree Service.

It went incredibly well. These guys impressed me when I watched them work in my neighbors' yard, and their work habits there prompted me to get an estimate for the work that I needed done. They had to use a crane to remove the two trees in precarious positions, dealing with allot of traffic, and close quarters. While in the crane, the arborist then removed some dead branches in an adjacent oak. They worked quickly, efficiently, and were very friendly. They were extremely considerate of my needs, as well as those of my neighbors during the process. The whole job was completed in about 4 hours. All the wood was ground in the chipper on site, and a huge flatbed truck came to take the giant logs and trunks away. All gone! :))

Great! They arrived the morning they were scheduled and completely the entire job within a few hours. Cleaned up the yard leaving it in great shape. First off, I joined Angie's List specifically for this project. Based upon reviews, I contacted three tree companies in the Eastern Cincinnati area, Madison Tree Service, Hyde Park Tree and Landscaping and Eastern Hills Tree. Only Madison Tree Service called me back and gave me an estimate. I have no clue why the other two did not bother to respond as I gave them my phone number and E-mail address. When I got the quick response from Madison, I did not call the other two companies back as I had the feeling I had found a good place to work with. Obviously from this experience, I could NOT recommend Hyde Park Tree or Landscaping and Eastern Hills Tree and do not have any information on them other than my limited experience of not hearing back from them. Maybe the job I described was not the type of work they did, don't really know but I wish they had responded with an estimate at least but, I only got one estimate, from Madison. Madison Tree Service was very good to work with, they quickly arranged for an Arborist to survey the situation and recommend a solution, sent me an estimate via E-mail (as I requested) quickly and scheduled the work as soon as a suitable date on my end was available. They were very easy to work with and they showed up on time, did exactly what they said they would, had the correct equipment for the job, trimmed the trees, ground up the limbs, cleaned up the grounds and hauled it all away. Whenever you can find a place that does exactly what they say they are going to do and actually show up on time, you have a winner in my view. This was absolutely painless on my end, Madison Tree Service (I dealt with Trina and Rusty) are wonderful and I highly recommend them to anyone needing any type of tree work done.
Description of Work: We needed six rather tall pear trees along a long driveway trimmed that had grown into the overhead power and phone lines causing a dangerous situation. The result was one tree had to be taken down completely (as I thought would be the case) and the other five trimmed.

Nothing but good to report on my experience. We had a large tree fall on our house. Jay acknowledged the emergency, and was able to assemble a crew to come out the next day. His crew were true professionals, they took great care to avoid further damage. There was no wasted effort, and the project took much less time than originally estimated. The cleanup was also well done.
