The guy came out and he was very professional. He walked around, but didn’t measure anything. He said that he didn’t want to measure without a professional engineer. He recommended a professional engineer who could come out and take a look. I asked him for a ballpark. He was about $15000 higher than the other five estimates. He said that he would send me the name of the engineer, but he didn’t. He just gave the engineer our information without letting us know and he called my husband. Neither did we follow up with him nor did he follow up with us. He showed up on time. I would not recommend them.
Description of Work: Buckeye Structure gave me an estimate in mid April for some foundation work.

Let's face it ---- this is not a repair anyone wants to face having. Steve Cohen was responsive to my initial call very timely and showed up when he said he would. The work was performed till the job was done---meaning workers did not come and then leave for other jobs. The workers took away soil and cleaned up well. Initially the first bid involved only doing piers on one side of the structure. Then Steve decided it would be best to get an engineer to evaluate and it was decided that piers on two sides would be needed. This naturally caused the bid to increase. It seemed that county inspectors relied on the engineer's certification so having the engineer involved all along was probably a plus. When the digging began, it was discovered that there was really no significant foundation for the garage---this necessitated (as explained to me) piers that were more heavy duty because there was no foundation to share the load and this increased the bid again. Upon reflection, it would have been better to have not received a bid until after the engineer got involved. The last increase in the bid likely could not be helped as the need was not apparent until after the digging began. The escalating bid is the reason I knocked down the rating to overall B. The quality of the job really cannot be told until time has passed. I am assured that the foundation will now be stable and never shift and have a guaranty on the job. I imagine it will take some time before I know this for sure. In any event, Steve Cohen was overall easy to work with and I would use him again if I ever have other issues that he could address.
Description of Work: Garage foundation was sinking causing garage to start to detach from the house. Piers were installed around 2 sides of the garage. Needed to dig up a sidewalk around the garage and a small portion of a brick patio to do this job.

Buckeye structure came out to fix foundation issues on a rental property in Clifton OH. They told me that I had a fully transferable lifetime warranty which was stated on my bid. I paid the full amount on the bid and once I decided to sell the property, they then changed their story. Through out the next 2 weeks they told me 3 different stories making excuses on why they would not honor the warranty. They were extremely rude over the phone and routinely used profanity. I have all of the proof including canceled checks and bids to support my claim. I would stay away from this company at all costs.
Description of Work: Buckeye structure was to stabilize the structure according to the engineering report.

Their workers left a huge mess in our yard. The debris included nails sticking up, cans in my yard, some buckets and they also damaged our neighbor's porch. It took our neighbor over a year to get the porch fixed. To be honest, I don't even know if he ever got it fixed. It was an ongoing process.
Description of Work: We hired them to lift our foundation as high as possible and repair the foundation.

Description of Work: I called and spoke to Mr. Cohen, and we set up an appointment for him to come over and give us an estimate on our sunroom foundation. The appointment time came and went, and nobody came, nor did we receive a phone call, despite the fact I gave Mr. Cohen our cell number. We called and left a message with him that day, and the next day, asking what had happened and if we could reschedule, but 5 days later, we still haven't heard back from them. Luckily my husband was off that day, but what if we had taken time off work for this appointment? I think this is very rude and unprofessional, and I'm disappointed because I had really hoped Mr. Cohen's company could help us.

They stuck to their bid and it was in the realm of other bids we got. They came to do the work and didn't do what they said. They were going to put piers under one corner of the house. They couldn't get to the back yard so they did the side. They were going to put 3 on one side of the corner and 3 on the other. They just put the six on one side. He said it really needed to go under the garage, but he didn't put it there. I can't say if it worked because it takes a year to settle.
Description of Work: They didn't call us back right away. We had to call them 3 or 4 times before they got back to us. The guy came out and gave us a bid.

I had called some of the largest foundation/leveling companies in the area and none of them wanted to touch the job. Steve Cohen is the owner and he is a great guy to work with. When they initially began the excavation and saw that the entire rock porch foundation was falling apart he called me immediately and we met on site. He told me what he thought needed to be done and said he would get back to me in a few days. In the meantime he covered the hole back up for safety reasons. He got back to me as promised and explained everything in detail. The work was done within a week and they did a perfect job cleaning up after themselves. The porch turned out just great and I am very happy with the work. I would highly recommend them for any job large or small.
Description of Work: I own a property in Clifton. It is a beautiful home built around 1910. It has a stone foundation. Unfortunately the foundation for the front porch was crumbling and causing the porch to buckle and pillars to lean precariously. They had to come in and dig down to basement footer level, which was how far the crumbling stone went down, and put in new footings and a new foundation for the front porch. They removed the cracked porch floor and poured a new floor. They also put in a nice concrete walkway.

On the day of installation when the beams were tightened up there was an immediate improvement; the long wide cracks were gone. The wall had moved back to a much better position. They will be adjusted 3 times over the next year, and the wall will improve by degrees. Stabilization is guaranteed. Three men came to do the job, the owner, his son & one other employee. They were all very nice, and left the job site clean, etc. I asked for and got the senior discount mentioned on Angie's List website. I will have a lifetime transferable warranty. A plus for the job being done this way is that I did not have to lose my shrubbery and front step, nor will I have to spend time & money to replace them. I did, however, have to have some plumbing & wiring re-routed to accommodate the beams, which was an additional expense. I will have to get back to you after the year ends to let you know how it all turns out, and again in 10-20 years or so?
Description of Work: My basement walls were cracked & bowed. I choose this company from several that a structural engineer suggested I look into. The owner was very pleasant to talk over my problem with on the phone in detail. He came to the house to look at the problem and proposed steel beam supports. They are like other steel beam supports except that he has patented his method. The supports are bolted to the basement floor, and also to the basement ceiling joists at the top. They are then screwed in to tighten the beam against the wall to put pressure on it from the inside.

THIS WAS A PRETTY EXTENSIVE JOB. HE GAVE US A LIFETIME GUARANTEE WHICH WAS IMPORTANT TO US AND IT'S TRANSFERABLE HE DID A NICE JOB, HE WAS VERY RESPONSIVE, AND BECAUSE WE WERE TRYING TO PUT IT ON THE MARKET HE DID THE WORK IN RECORD TIME. HE WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND. WHATEVER HE TOLD ME HE WAS GOING TO DO, HE DID. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS THIS TYPE OF WORK DONE.
