Alma Granite

After searching for many different companies to install quartz countertops, we found most to be expensive and delayed at least 4 to 6 weeks. Alma was the most reasonably priced, very professional, kind and most of all, extremely efficient. We couldn't recommend them more highly!

Unprofessional. $1600 all cash deal with nothing in writing. I decided to not use 2 backsplashes as the product sample was a bit dark when I took it home so was going to tile instead. Mohammed and Omar said no "discount". At about $70 sq ft its about $150 in product. Its not a discount, it's less product!! Was I supposed to just eat that?!?

While we were able to get a decent price, experience was awful. While father of company is very nice and reasonable and construction crew is good, the son is very rude and disrespectful to customers. Specifically, we paid half when we placed the order and was told slab would be delivered and installed Friday. They didn't get slab on time and project was delayed by a week. When they forgot backsplash I asked them to come back. They came back but didn't tell me when and I didn't have checkbook with me when they returned. Son then proceeded to tell crew to "rip out the quartz". He finally agreed to letting me pay over phone with credit card

It was difficult to work with the owner. He was scheduled to come over to measure for the top but was several hours late. Then I made arrangements to meet him at his shop to discuss how he was going to cut the granite for the tops-he was not there. After being out of town for several weeks started the process over again. I went to his shop and called him. Once when I called someone answered his phone and simply stated "I don't speak English". Took me several days to actually make contact with him. Once I was able to reconnect with him I again wanted to review how the granite would be cut. While out looking at the scrape pieces (I had already agreed to buy he wanted to charge me more for them). In addition he had lost the first measurements he completed. Made arrangements for him to come back out on a Saturday morning at 8:30AM and he did not show. He did call about 30 minutes later and wanted to come out but by then I had decided I no longer wanted to work with him. He did agree to return my initial deposit of $200.00. Went to his shop and did get the deposit back in cash.

They worked quickly and were friendly. I only interacted with the owner. He was very helpful and was able to work with us regardless of where we picked up our granite.

Be careful here. Guy is very nice, self-effacing Palestinian. Does not speak best of English and misunderstands sometimes. Was unable to provide a written receipt. Promised to do work that was not done. Provided different prices, does not write anything down as a quote. It is all verbal. Totally jazzed up the backsplash order with Daltile, who are terrible to deal with. Tried to sell me granite on his lot that had numerous visual swirls, that just amazed him when we pointed it out to him. And he has been in the business for decades. Look real close at the actual piece of granite you buy. Seems careless. Ripped up our walls in removing the old countertop, that we then had to fix ourselves. Not punctual, schedule means nothing to him. When he is ready to go and get it done, he moves quick. He came to our door one morning at 7am without telling us he was going to be there. I work late sometimes, so this was inconvenient and inconsiderate. Further, when he told us to come to the shop to view granite, he was not there. No sense of commitment. Glad to be done with him. A shame as is a seemingly nice man. Oh and the showroom on his website is false, he has no showroom. Just a dusty work room with no place to sit down as the two chairs are dirty with likely years of granite dust. Lack of attention to detail. If price is of prime importance, overshadowing everything else, he may be your man.

I dealt with Mahdi of M and M Granite in Zionsville, IN. He had the granite slabs which I wanted and couldn't find elsewhere. He wanted to come and take out our old countertop to use as a template, which was fine with us. We had also given him exact measurements with drawings of what we wanted, which were slightly different from our old countertop template. He apparently forgot to look at our drawings and simply copied the template. So the edge of the counter was 1/2 inch shorter than we wanted and the sink wasn't centered as we had wished. A hole for the slide in stove had to be cut in our home. Mahdi warned me that there would be dust, and asked if I had a vacuum cleaner and a fan to blow it out of the house. I thought this was odd and unprofessional, that he didn't bring his own shop vac and a powerful fan, or try to block off that part of the house, because there was very fine dust everywhere, like a dust storm. My Hoover Windtunnel was trashed after this. It will take weeks to get the dust off everything, and in the process of trying to remove it from the wood floors, we scratched the finish. The granite is beautiful and we are mostly happy with the result. I was very impressed with the two workers Mahdi had with him that carefully brought in the finished pieces without scratching anything.

Initial interaction was mostly positive. The price quoted was better than the other quotes we had. Alma's store is a fabrication facility with some samples stacked outside and not a showroom. The owner of Alma was always responsive by phone, which was also a positive. We agreed to a price and he came out to measure immediately. He seemed to take his time with measurements and we felt confident with his commitment to quality. The problems came on the day of installation. The installers seemed to be subcontractors. They showed up on time. They worked efficiently and seemed skilled. The owner showed up just in time to set the new granite in place. Once they had it in place and we were wrapping up, we noticed a small crack in the granite. We pointed it out to the owner and he indicated it was a natural occurrence in the granite, but not a crack. After more investigation, we spotted glue on the bottom of the granite. Once we confronted him with the glue, he admitted that they did glue a broken piece into place, but assured us it was stronger than the original granite. After a lot of frustration and haggling, he agreed to give us a lifetime warranty for the crack and put it in writing. I wish he would he would have been honest about the crack from the start. In the days following the installation, we also discovered that the granite is not level in a couple of areas, which is frustrating. No one has cover noticed the crack or the out of level granite, but we do notice it as the homeowners. Almost a year has passed and the glue has held up, but we will not use Alma again.

I am a Realtor and the company was referred to me by a client. They are based in the Cincinnati area but travel weekly to Indianapolis, Chicago, and a few other areas. While they have a good selection of types of granite, there were two that were priced very well. I selected one of those and they were installed the next week for what was about half the price I've seen elsewhere. Some of the expense and time-saving came from having me take approximate measurements of the counters to be replaced and sending pictures by email. This avoided having to set up appointments, etc. The owner and his assistants were very pleasant and patient. They do have somewhat thick accents (to my Midwestern ears) and it was sometimes difficult to understand what was being said over the phone. The end result, however, was exactly what I'd hoped for.

My experience was excellent. He was punctual and prompt. He was flexible. He works with you on price. They were very professional and quick. The only downside was they were almost too quick. They were in a real hurry. I think it was because they were busy and had one more job to do. I think people should go out to his shop, he has a collection that is small, but it is a good collection of granite. I would recommend him very highly.

The service was very personal from the owner. He met and spent a lot of time with us. The quality and installation was excellent and price was affordable. I have referred him to other people.

Mazen's work on our kitchen and bath has surpassed our expectations. We were a little hesitant at the beginning because his quote was about $1,900 cheaper than the least expensive of the 2 other estimates we had. He really knows what he's doing and he has a passion for his job in which it's obvious that he takes great pride. He did some very impressive edges and curves both in the kitchen and master bath vanity. The backsplash in the kitchen goes all the way to the bottom of the upper cabinets adding a very rich look. Several friends commented that his work is art. The job was done within the promised tiimeframe. As long as it was OK with us, Mazen didn't hesitate to work as late as it took to get the job done. Another contractor working in our house couldn't believe how the counter was done without a seem all the way around to the sink. He said he has never seen anything like this in his 30 years of home projects experience. Mazen and his crew are not only talented, but professional and trustworthy. They were left alone in our house while we were in the middle of a high season at our business. Mazen is also a good human being, not only trustworthy, but also trusting enough to hold all payments until the job is completed, and that is extremely impressive about him. I would recommend Alma Granite without any hesitation.

Overall, the experience was excellent. From the time I called him on the phone to the time he was at my home, he was able to measure within 2 hours. He measured everything precisely. On another estimate that I obtained from a different company, I had to take the measurements myself, and then the company provided me with estimates over the phone, which was roughly $800 more than what this company charged me. He didn’t have to do any major adjustments. I was also impressed that he did not ask for a down payment; I didn’t pay anything until the job was complete, which amazed me. Every time I called him with any concerns, I reached him on the telephone without any problems. The whole project was done was within 2 weeks. The employees were trustworthy, polite, and courteous. I felt comfortable with them in my home. The countertops are beautiful; excellent quality. Mazen, the owner of the company, was a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend his services.
