AIT American Insulation Technologies

We weren't too happy with what they gave us. Their report, I believe, was lacking. It didn't give clear answers to how we should proceed. My wife e-mailed them with questions and we never got a response. At the time, I think they were having personnel problems.

Came to my residential property two times (Nov-2013 and Dec-2013) to assess insulation needs. Drilled hole in drywall to confirm that injecting foam would be a good solution. Despite calling five times over a 2 month period, to get a quotation for the project, I never received a quote. UPDATE: Turns out a quote was sent on December 31, but gmail tagged it as "junk mail" and I did not see it until prompted to by A.I.T. after posting my negative review. So my previous statements are incorrect about "no quote". However calls were made in early January notifying that I did not receive a quote, and I was assured one was sent, and would be resent. In reviewing my "Junk Box" in gmail, only the December 31 email was found. No follow up email or communication until a negative post here. Other reviews on work for this company look very good. But I can't comment on their work as I never ended up using them.

Rick Campbell, the salesperson, was very professional and knowledgeable. I opted for adding fiberglass rolls over existing insulation in the attic. The installers were very thorough, pleasant and professional. I had received two other quotes and went with AIT because they were willing and able to do the work the way I requested. I would feel comfortable recommending this company to anyone. Rick came back after the work was completed and walked through the job to make sure I was satisfied.

They provide great customer service. They showed up on time. The technicians did a great clean up job and even answered my questions. They went into the truck, grabbed their material and explained to me what they put in and how it worked. In time, the bill is adequately going down with my furnace and heater and running. I’ve seen saving form the months that I could compare them to. I was pleased with the company.

They showed up about 15 minutes early. It took about 3 hours. They explained once again what they were going to do. They were very friendly and knowable. They went to work protecting all carpeted areas first. Then came the insulation. As soon as they finished the first area, they moved to the second area. When they were all finished, they came in and cleaned up any mess, picked up their drop cloths and said good-bye to a job well done. I am still waiting for my own home to have foam insulation added to walls when the weather gets warmer.

They did what they proposed to do.

They sent 2 gentleman out to give initial estimate. They showed us on some type of scanner how much air was actually coming in. They did the job a week later. The entire process took no longer than 5 hrs. This is one of the best investments I feel we have decided to have done this year. With temperatures hitting -10, I think we just saved ourself from some major problems

Rick was quick in responding to the initial request and made it to the house in 24-48 from first contact. We reviewed what work needed to be done and agreed on outcome/expectations. Original date was going to be on 11/21 and I needed to reschedule to 11/27. Was advised it would take 8 hours to complete job. On 11/27 the crew arrived to state they can only blow insulation in and the other crew will need to come Friday. That was never discussed or agreed upon but I remained flexible. The crew experienced significant issues with the equipment and were not able to finish on day one. The crew came back on Friday to blow insulation and foam walls. After an hour, the crew came back to say they had the wrong hammer drill and would need to come back on Saturday. so this went from an 8 hour job to a three day process. On day three the crew came back, I adjusted the work order however, the price came down only marginally. When I asked to see the copy of the original invoice I was told by Rick he wuld review it and get back to me. That never occured. The price was reduced by $350 but I have still not seen or validated the final invoice. Was not impressed with their responsiveness or approach. Additionally, 4 siding pieces were cracked or broken. I was told they were placing an order to fix them in the spring, but again, nothing has been provided to me to indicate that is the case. I did take pictures of the damage. The crew did a good job of cleaning the interior of the house but a poor job of cleaning the exterior. Wood, foam and liquids were in all locations they worked.They used my ladders without permission and even my deck chairs as ladders and never put them back. No one attempted to clean the sites accordingly. Poor execution and lack of supervision caused this. Disappointed in what I was told and they way things were handled.

A.I.T. Advanced insulation did a terrific job at our century old home. Mark did a complete assessment and was on point with what we needed. His crew was on time and got right to work. B.J. Was very knowledgable about all aspects of weatherproofing homes and answered any questions that I had. B.J., Michael and Josh were on our job and each knew and executed their jobs efficiently and expertly. They left my house and yard clean and warm. We would recommend this company and crew to anyone .

Rick sat with me at my dining room table to discuss different insulation options at varying price points. He listened to my concerns, answered my questions, and explained different insulation types. Then he looked at my attic space, took measurements, and explained the measurements to me. I'm expecting a quote back from them with two different scenarios to choose from. I look forward to working with A.I.T. on this and any future insulation projects for my 85 year old home!

the first appointment was scheduled on October 22. They were to call prior to arrival. The crew stopped by without a call. I received a note on the door that they were there earlier in the day. We rescheduled for 10/30/13. 10/13/2013 my wife let them in the house in the morning. they informed her that it would be around 2:30 when they would be finishing up. I stopped by my house around 2:30pm and talked with the crew. It appeared that they received the wrong work order that included insulating the floor between the 2nd and 3rd floor. I cleared that up with them and they said that they would be completed in about an hour. I returned at 3:30pm and inspected the work. In the attic area where the access panel was placed in the closet, I noticed that insulation was not blown into the ceiling third floor cavity. In addition the spray foam insulation around the foundation had areas not insulated and many areas where the thickness was one quarter of an inch or less. I talked to the installers and they said they would fix it. Since all the equipment was put away when I arrived, I decided to stay until the work was completed. Around 4:30pm I went over and they had everything packed up. I did not inspect the crawl space but did go down to the basement to look over the spray insulation. Most areas that were thin or missed were covered. There still are several areas that are maybe one half to three quarters of an inch thick and one area where I can see the wood. I believe it still needs attention. Given that we had an issue with scheduling the first appointment, I would have thought extra care would have been provided on this job. I contacted the sales manager requesting to have someone come over and inspect the work to make sure the job was completed correctly on 10/31. I received a call late on Thursday that he had received my email (most of the details here within). I gave him my cell number on Friday 11/01. Here it is the end of the day on November 04 and no follow up. To say the least I was quite disappointed given all the positive ratings for this company. Here it is November 11th and have not received a call about the issues. I am updating professionalism to a F and responsiveness to an F. Here it is January 3, 2014 and they have not returned my call. Updated all categories to an F. Still have issues with the quality of work in the basement. It is January 20, 2014 and did not recieve the call in which he noted in the comments. During the sub-zero cold waive in early January, I noticed a number of areas where they spray foamed leaking cold air. I had to put in my own insulation to fix it. If you use this contractor make sure you check everything out theroughly before you make payment.

We purchased this deal in error and AL processed a refund for it several days later. I cannot get the website to stop prompting me for a review, so I am writing a fake review. Apologies for any confusion.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I spent additional money. They generally did good work. They did an air blower test at the beginning and they didn't seem to improve the air tightness in the house very much. That was a bit of a disappointment.

It went great. It was a very hot day but the crew did not skimp or cut corners to make the job easier. They were careful to take their time and do it right. Frequent breaks from the 110 degree attic were necessary and the sign of an experienced crew. The crew was on time, friendly, respectful and welcomed me and my many questions. It was obvious from watching them work that they knew what they were doing and knew how to do it right. I was impressed. As they neared the end of the job, it was clear to the crew they were not going to have enough insulation. Instead of trying to "stretch" what they had, they let me know they would need to come back the next day and put in just a few additional bags.of insulation. They cleaned everything in and around the work site and even swept my driveway. The next day, they came back and finished the job in very little time. They spent more time setting up their equipment than it took to blow in the last of the insulation. But, they weren't going to skimp. This is exactly what I wanted. The house is only 6 years old. Had the builder done his job and insulated the attic to the level required by the building code at the time, this additional insulation would not have been necessary. Had the building inspector done his job when the house was built , this additional insulation would not have been necessary. I am happy there are some companies, such as AIT, that strive to always do it right.

Overall I was satisfied with my experience. I looked at a variety of companies to have insulation installed in my attic and they were one of the most affordable with positive reviews. Rick, the salesperson came out to my house the day prior to cut the access panel and install a bathroom exhaust fan that needed to go in before they could do the insulation. Despite some scheduling changes, I really appreciated that Rick was able to do this for me because it's something I couldn't have done on my own. When Rick opened the attic he found that I did have some insulation up there already. He provided a recommendation on adjusting the amount of insulation to be blown in and revised my quote. When the crew arrived the next day they were very professional and knowledgeable, explaining as Rick had done, how the insulation would work as well as other options to make my home more energy efficient. With an 82 year old house energy efficiency is in short supply in my home, so I was interested in what they had to say. The installer pointed out that I would notice a slight difference with the insulation but that with the age of my home, there's nothing in the walls and this is where you notice the biggest difference. I'm glad that he explained this to me because I originally was expected a dramatic difference in the temperature on my second floor and while I have noticed a slight improvement, it wasn't what I originally thought I would have until he explained this to me. Everything was cleaned up after they left. I was grateful that they found a way to bring in the hose that would result as little of a mess as possible. I was also impressed that I received a personal note from the owner of the company after service was completed. Not many companies take the time to thank people for their business and I appreciated the gesture.

They did a good job and it went well. I learned a few things about where I might be leaking energy.

When Mark came to give us a quote he explained what they would and why it should be done. He also told me of some things that I could do myself to help lower our gas and electric bills. When the workmen arrived they were very professional. They showed me each area where they insulated to make sure it was as expected. I would definitly recomend AIT to anyone needing Insulation.

The condo units were POORLY made and they did their best to do everything they could to help the situation. They really went above and beyond to help. We didn't need the insulation for temperature control only noise control. The space between the units was unusually large and they did a great job filling in everything. When there were more holes in the ceiling than expected they went out of their way to fix and patch it as good as new.

We are so impressed with the professionalism of Rick and the team at AIT. They had quite a nasty taks on their hands and they did a FANTASTIC JOB! on the cleanup and disinfecting the attic. They had to remove all the fecal matter, pull out all insulation which was blown in and batting insulation. Then they sprayed with a powerful disinfectent to sanitize the attic. They also checked for mold because back in the day bathroom fans weren't vented to the outside of the house, they were vented to the attice which did show the adverse effect of previous mold. Rick called in somone to do a very reasonalbe mold mitigation and all is good. The new insulation was installed up to R49 which we received a certificate showing the new rating of R49 for the house. I can't sing loudly enough the praises of this company because they are so good. We are considering adding more insulation to our house as well as some of the other family members. We have all agreed that we will use AIT and RIck. Thanks for helping a family take care of Mom.

AIT was absolutely great from start to completion of this project. We were looking for a way to stabilize the temperature on the second floor in our cape cod home as well as keep heat/ac from escaping our basement. AIT was great because they were able to complete the work on a Saturday and the crew who performed the job was extremely courteous, informative and professional. They were especially great about cleaning up after themselves (particularly with cellulose, which is really messy) and making sure to lay down mats throughout the house where they were walking. All in all, from start to finish a very professional experience.

Our experience with AIT was excellent. The installation professionals arrived exactly when they said that they would and were very professional and efficient. Application of the spray foam in the basement required removal and replacement of many ceiling tiles, which they did without complaint or additional charge. Cleanup was perfect; the spaces they worked in and passed through were left just as they found them (or cleaner in some cases!) They spent extra time to work with us and explain everything well. So far we are very pleased.

It was a fabulous experience. Mark Sheirmer is the representative of the company that we dealt with and our experience with him was awesome. We had three other estimates before Mark came out. He did an amazingly thorough estimate. He also gave us ideas on how to do things ourselves and what products to use. He gave us really great advice on what type of insulation to use that would serve us best and save us the most money. He was extremely personable and knowledgeable about the products. We waited a little while to decide who to use, but finally decided on A.I.T. Advanced Insulation & Energy Technologies. The technicians were wonderful and were extremely efficient. They went through every little detail with us before they even began the work. After they completed the job they walked my husband through everything. They were quick, professional and very courteous. I have already recommend this company to several friends and family members and will definitely continue to do so. We have noticed that our energy bills have significantly reduced since the insulation has been installed.

Initially, we had multiple scheduling problems, but when they came out and did the review, it went very well. It was important to me to actually verify that the insulation is doing its job in most places, and also to identify the isolated opportunity areas for extra insulation. I highly recommend homeowners get an energy efficiency audit, and AIT is a good company to choose.

These guys had done our original "max out the attic" work about 2 years ago. So when we had our water damage crisis I had them on the top of my list for a bid. They were a winner again. It was a complicated situation since we lost our ceiling in the main hallway and also in a small bathroom. Other damage included the main AC/Heat duct running across our garage, under the bedrooms. We were losing heat all winter battling with insurance people. AIT came in, sprayed and wrapped our exposed areas in the garage. But this was a 2-day process. They agreed to fix these areas and then return after we had our drywall replaced in the ceiling areas to blow in the lost insulation. We also purchased a really efficient clothes dryer vent which had to be installed through existing brick veneer. The guys had to improvise on this install (at my advise/approval) but it was a great success - just what I wanted!
