custom cabinets
+ -1 moreAs expected, the cabinets delivered were insufficient to for the installer to complete our kitchen. Sizes were wrong and many of the cabinets were missing doors and upgraded features. KraftMaid responded with "over-night" delivery of critical cabinets. However, "over-night" to KraftMaid means three weeks and the installer had moved on to easier jobs! I installed many of the doors myself. Lowes assigned a new designer to complete our kitchen after months of negotiations in an attempt to avoid litigation. However, the replacement cabinets provided by KraftMaid were inferior! Colors did not match and the quality of the replacement cabinets are noticeably inferior. In the end we were reimbursed almost $6,000 for unusable cabinets. The demolition and installation took almost a year. However, KraftMaid gave the designer at Lowes a sales award!
Description of Work: Initially we decided to buy KraftMaid cabinets because when compared to other factory-built cabinets they appeared to offer the most variety and flexibility in design, material, options and colors. Remodeling and upgrading a kitchen utilizing prefabricated cabinets requires a skilled designer able to master current computer software. The kitchen designer at Lowe's had very limited computer skills and less knowledge about KraftMaid cabinets. She was unable to produce a visual schematic for the installer. I contacted KraftMaid to determine how they would create a kitchen without a workable vision. I was told not to be concerned; when our kitchen arrived incomplete and piecemeal, we were told to contact Lowe's. They should have addressed my concerns in the beginning. Our kitchen was ordered in March of 2012 and not completed until the end of November 2012!
