KraftMaid Cabinetry

The off-white kitchen cabinets were the worst! They had terrible hinges (had those replaced but they did not hold well in the cheap wood doors), poorly made doors, and peeling paint. I have seen other cabinets from other companies years after they've been installed and they still look wonderful. We are finally able to replace them this month!

The cabinets themselves were fine, but the paint job was horrible. We had to have the doors replaced and they have been very helpful in replacing the cabinet doors for us since they were under warranty. They are replacing the cabinets for us for no charge and for the inconvenience we experienced they are including new self-closing hinges for the cabinet doors. For the quality of the cabinets I give them an A, but for the paint job I give them an F. The Kraftmaid representative even agreed that some of the cabinets should have never left the warehouse.

They make kitchen cabinets through another store. I am having an ongoing bad experience with them. It has been very problematic. They are attempting to resolve the problem, but my issue is not with the store. I believe the kitchen designer at that store has done everything within her ability. However, we are dealing with a product that they marketed as being so great regardless of what it is made of. They were supposed to deliver the cabinets in January and I still have missing doors because there were many which came in defective or were scraped off. The glass on one has been put in one way and in another way on the other. It is just going on for months now. A representative from Kraft Maid finally did come out here to look, but we got a replacement a month later. The cabinets by themselves were maybe $7000. The cabinets were sent directly to my house and an installer who was contracted through the store installed them. Some doors worked and the finish on some was very poorly executed. Even the installer agreed with that. One of the things about Kraft Maid is that if you are dissatisfied, they are very good about replacing pieces of it. That was one of the reasons why I went with them. I also did read some online reviews first and they seemed to be a pretty reputable company. There have been many problems. I can expect maybe one door which would be defective in some way or poorly done, but there are a number of pieces like that. The staining is really off. There are a lot of pieces where one panel is really dark and one is really light when it is supposed to be pretty uniform. There is no consistency with the cabinets. I went to the store and the kitchen design representative has been very helpful and very supportive in that process. So, I have no complaints with the store. The store requested that the representative contact me directly because of the number of problems. This is after having to take all the photos and get them over to the store. I waited for the guy to come out for several weeks. He comes out and looks at everything, but I don?t think they are constructed as well as they represent them to be. They look okay when you take a glance. They sent replacement doors and it was the same problem. So, I asked the representative if the texture is supposed to be on the outside of the doors or on the inside and he didn?t know. They are now going to pop the glass out and reverse it, which I am not really that happy about because I paid for a new product and not a corrected one. At this point, I just want to be done with it. These cabinets were ordered in November. I think what I paid was a lot of money. They are just poorly finished underneath and I am not that happy with them all in all. The guy was very professional when he came out. I would never ever buy their products again.

The Kraftmaid kitchen design studio designer came out ot our home and measured and discussed with us what we were hoping to achieve. She did not work for Kraftmaid-Kraftmaid must sub contract with other design studios to work with their clients. The designers worked through plans several times to tweek all the measurements. She was very thorough and pleasant. The cabinets were promised to arrive in 6 to 8 weeks and they were finished in less than 4. They stored them for us until we were ready to install them. The cabinets were not exactly what we had expected. For the price, we thought we were getting all wood cabinets-but they came made with particle board sides. Perhaps we misunderstood the designer but we were looking for high quality and were disappointed in the end product. The exposed sides were covered with faux wood contact paper type material. We had to place an order for new end panels because these cheap looking sides were not acceptable. Please be aware that there are MANY upgrades that you can order. We would have paid extra for all wood cabinets if it had been made clear to us what exactly we were getting. Also, one of the cabinet doors was quite badly splintered due to poor quality control and will need to be replaced

They are excellent and the cabinets are fantastic. The craftsmanship is wonderful and the furniture is gorgeous, as the hinges are all inside. They did a great job and their finished work met their estimates.
