Deck & Fence Renewal Systems

It went pretty good. For the shape it was in and what they stained it, it was pretty good. The way they done it, I wasn't thrilled. They do a spray system which I wasn't aware of. I didn't know if that would be enough to coat it. They did do a pretty good job. The owner is very nice and easy to work with, but they should have explained the process and they did not. If they didn't spray, I would definitely use them again.

Bob Perkins and his crew were awesome. Bob was extremely helpful, always returning phone calls or texts when I had questions. He contacted the underground utility finding service and also handled the paperwork with the neighborhood HOA. The job was completed quickly and looks fabulous. They were extremely professional and cleaned up the job site after completion. I would definitely use them for future projects.

I received an estimate to repair a deck. He didn't give me an amount. I gave him the home inspection and that gave specific references to code. He said I think I know what code they're wanting but I don't know what they're saying that needs to be the solution to the code problem. He said I'd have to go back to the person who did the inspection and ask them. I did and verified what they were thinking was correct and sent me a link to the code. He did say what he recommended he would do. He said that code is there for when you have parties on your deck and is a huge expense to fix and he wouldn't do it. I appreciated the honesty but I still would have liked an amount.

They did not charge me to come and do an estimate. He didn't give me an amount, I gave him the home inspection as far as specifics for code. But he didn't know what code they want it, but he didn't know the solution to the code problem. He should know for a contractor. He didn't know for sure, he told me to go back to the person who did the inspection and ask them. He verified everything was correct and sent me a link to the code. He didn't really give me an amount. He did say what he recommended as to what he would do. I appreciated the honesty, but still would of liked an amount.

Worked primarily with Bob Perkins. He was professional and on time. 3 man crew did the job in a little over 2 days. Very happy with the work performed. They really made the process easy by pulling the permits and submitting the required documentation to the HOA. They also didn't require a survey and found property lines themselves. Would highly recommend.

I believe that the contractor had no previous experience with decks that are so exposed to the sun, even after I told them this. Initial power washing feathered the boards. I took pictures and sent them to him. Within weeks of staining, the deck looked dark and dingy. I have several areas that show how the deck looked at one time, at its best, which are still there because their cleaning could not remove that. I called them in the Fall to come out and check it out. The person I talked to would not let me know when they would be there exactly and this was a problem for a couple reasons: 1. we have an invisible fence and did not want our dog to get aggressive towards him and 2. I wanted to be able to show the person who came out what I was unhappy about. These unannounced visits made me feel as though they were trying to avoid meeting with me face-to-face. After they came out in the Fall, they said that they would come back out in the following Spring to re-finish it. I said Ok. Spring came and I had to be the one who contacted them. This is poor customer service especially since you have a customer who had already paid their bill in good faith and were unhappy with the job. They should have proactively contacted me to get this resolved. Even after the "refinishing", the deck still looks dark and dingy. I expected it to look as new as possible since the deck, at the time, was only about 3 years old. I believe this to be a reasonable expectation for anyone who is getting their deck refinished. Isn't that the reason for doing it? He may, in good faith, thought he was doing the right job but, as mentioned above, this is a deck that takes a beating from the sun and I believe that they do not know how to take care of a deck in these types of circumstances. There was also 2 umbrellas that were left on the deck, which they said that they would move to perform their job, but they never did. Lastly, they had an unhappy customer that they had to come out twice to try to take care of the issue and they don't even follow-up after the "refinishing" and come on site to check out the work and to make sure that everyone was happy. Again, poor customer service. I will not use them again and I am telling my neighbors not to use them. My deck is a calling card to the entire neighborhood. My house sits at the highest point in the neighborhood and in Warren County and the deck is app. 1600 square feet with 6x6 posts (it's big and makes a statement) and is seen by all of my neighbors. They will see the poor job and when they ask who did it, I am sure to tell them. Photos attached are of the deck after they had performed their job.

The multiple crew members were excellent workers and did a fantastic job! Greg, the owner had excellent communication during the whole process and made me feel valued as a customer. Highly recommend! Won't use any other service moving forward.

I have had them do work on my deck twice and my fence once. They were on time, punctual, professional, courteous and they cleaned up after themselves. My interaction with them was friendly. The work they did turned out very good.

They covered the deck, but they also did the trim work along the paver tiles and the flower boxes. My interaction was very good and the quality of the work was outstanding.

Great job, our house had not been painted in 15 years, looks new again. Even came back after rain to make sure the paint held up. Very satisfied.

It took them 6 days. Big job. They told me what time they were coming but also called each morning to let me know when they were 20 minutes out so I could bring in the dogs. They actually built a small temporary dog run so I could let the dogs out at night! 😊 They were pleasant and professional. And the fence looks GREAT!!

They came around 830 am and were finishing by the time I got home from work. they took away the trash and left everything nice when they left. the deck looks wonderful.

We were expecting the gaps between the boards to be painted as well. They only painted the top of the boards. We had to paint the gaps ourselves. If we had known that, we would have saved the money and just painted the entire deck on our own.

They arrived on time and did a great job of cleaning the deck. Very pleased.

I've been calling DRS for quite a few weeks leaving messages. Unfortunately, no one has returned my phone calls. I have a small job to do, and I know it's small. I mentioned that in my voicemails, and even mentioned if it was too small to let me know. I even recommended that I could just purchase the fence items I needed and do the repair myself. (Cannot buy fence posts at the local hardware store without buying 6 or more - I only needed 1) After a couple weeks of trying I also sent an email. In my email I mentioned I've not been getting any calls back. I did not receive a response to my email either. (Email was sent 6 days ago) I used the phone number and email address on their site.

We weren't really happy with it. We are going to go with somebody else this year. We were not really happy with it. It looked okay. A year later, it doesn't look like anything was done. Pricing was good. I would definitely not use them again.

Folks don't waste your time looking any further. If you are in need of someone to do fence and deck work just stop right here and pick up the phone and call Rich and his team. The crew just finished up at our house this morning and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. Bob, Rob and Alex were the crew that did our renovation work. They could have just pulled up the decking put down new boards and called it a day. Not these guys. They spent two days reinforcing and making adjustments to make absolutely sure the structure was completely level and secure before they even laid the first new deck boards. Once done they even sanded all the edges to reveal new wood and ensure the old frame was level with the new decking. In addition, they sent a guy out to pressure wash any of the wood not being replaced so it blended in great with the new wood. That was just the deck work. They also did an outstanding job installing a black chain link fence and a really nice ceder picket with two gates. The materials they used were fantastic. Extra think deck boards, light commercial grade vinyl coated chain link and think ceder pickets. Attention to detail was amazing. Cant tell you how many times they went out the their way to fix little things that I would have never noticed. I don't write reviews and consider myself to have pretty high quality standards but these blew my expectations away. Just stop looking and call Rich now. I promise you wont regret it and you'll never use anyone else again for fence and deck work.

The young man who did the power washing arrived on time on a Tuesday, and because our deck is 800 sq. feet, spent something over 2 hours getting it cleaned. We couldn't believe the difference when he was done - all the bench seats had been thoroughly washed, and all the green stuff that had been growing on the deck was completely gone! They had told us the deck would have to dry thoroughly for a couple of days, and of course it rained off and on for the rest of the week! From the following Sunday on, the weather was good, and on Wednesday, a week after the washing, they came back (we were gone at the time) and sealed the deck with a penetrating cedar oak natural sealer. The deck looks so nice, and we were VERY pleased with the job that was done. We would recommend this company without reservation, and will definitely use them when the deck needs to be redone. Their Super Service Award is well deserved!

Everyone was professional. Communication was a bit of a problem. The first time someone came out to give me an estimate the gentleman did not come into the yard, so the bi-level deck around my pool was over looked. It was explained to me that the estimator would not come onto the property if no one was home. I understand this, however, it made the process that much longer. I had to wait for someone to come out and look at the back decks. But overall I am pleased with the work done and the coupon I purchased on Angie's List made it affordable to me.

On time, work done as promised. Good result.
