Description of Work: Tear out and haul away old deck. Built 200 square foot deck. After plans were made, altered them at our request to include a rail with lattice work. The start was delayed due to bad weather at the end of 2014, but Bob Perkins (owner) was very timely and responsive once work was started. I would highly recommend City Wide.

I contacted them and they came out within a day or so to look at the job. We discussed options and specifics and he prepared a contract for me which I executed a couple days later. They arrived about a week or so later, as agreed, and installed the fence as specified and agreed. It could probably be argued I could have shopped around and gotten it done cheaper, but they got it done when I wanted it done and with good materials and workmanship.
Description of Work: I had them install about 300 feet of chain link fence around my back yard with three double-opening gates and the front in powder-coated brown.

They seemed fine, but I did go with another company.A couple of notes:1. City Wide was the lowest price by quite a bit. Seemed too low.2. I only received a verbal quote, which was lowered at the end of the meeting. I was still waiting to see the other two contractor's bids.3. Seemed like a reputable outfit and I didn't have any problem with them. I just chose another contractor.
Description of Work: City Wide was one of three fence contractors that gave me a bid on my fence project.

Got an estimate very quickly, but took a couple of weeks to get scheduled. Once the job was started, it was finished in an hour. Pretty satisfied with job.

I had issues with them on one side of the fence, they installed the section and left a one foot space between the end of the new fence and my neighbors. large enough for my Pomeranian (which they were aware of) to get out, the point of a fence is generally for privacy and to contain dogs. I complained about the space and I was given an excuse that they ran into the concrete of the neighbors fence post and had to move mine in, Which of course my old fence butted up to my neighbors so I saw no reason the new one couldn't. I was at home when they were installing the fence and they did not consult me at that time to make sure it would be satisfactory to me to have the gap in the fence. They did return and nailed a section of fence between the new install and my neighbors to cover the large space- which looked horrible! I then again complained and told them the need to replace the ENTIRE section with ONE piece. they finally did as I requested and the end result looked nice. The only other complaint I have is that they do not clean up after themselves, I was left to remove the old concrete that they dug up from the old fence as well as all of the dirt they left on top of my plants in my gardens! Most of my plants were killed by being covered in mud / dirt as well as trampled. If I had been an elderly woman I would not have been able to clean up after them. After my not so pleasant experience with them I had to tell my father to cancel them as they were to install a new fence for his pool.
Description of Work: I had them replace a privacy fence with one gate, the old fence was wooden and nearly falling over, I had them replace it with a white resin fence.

Highly professional from the very first conversation! Initially we were only going to have the backyard fenced for our dogs. But, because City Wide proposal was so impressive and within our budget -- we were able to also have them install a 10x16 deck and still remain well within our budget. The dictionary should list City Wide Fence, Mr. Bob Perkins and Bryan & Keith under the definition of PROFESSIONAL! When the city inspector came out to inspect the footers of the deck, he brought up an "issue" about the fence being to tall. Keith approached the situation with professionalism. The inspector was being difficult. Keith immediately contacted Mr. Perkins and told me not to worry about a thing. The fence was within code, and that the inspector just was not understanding. The following day, when arriving to continue working on the deck, Keith told me that Mr. Perkins had spoken to the inspector and there was nothing to worry about. Apparently the inspector had to be instructed about decorative toppers on fence posts do not count toward the maximum height of the actual fence. The entire job, fencing and deck, took them less then a week to complete --- during a very rainy month. Mr. Perkins came out and inspected Bryan and Keith's work. HIs inspection was not necesssary, Bryan and Keith absolutely know their profession inside and out. .
Description of Work: Had our backyard fenced and a deck installed.

The guys were very polite and professional. If they came to a spot that they thought would look better if deviated slightly from the contract they would come ask our opinion before continuing on. Example our contract called for following the ground contour tightly. There was a spot in the fence that if they would have done this it would have made the top look jagged. After checking with us we decided to keep a smooth top and backfill the bottom with soil. I'm glad they checked with us because the end result is a great looking fence.
Description of Work: Had 244' of 6' dog eared treated piracy fence installed. This included an 8' gate with metal framing to prevent sagging. They used three full 2x4 rails per section, and full 3/4" thick fence boards. The price quoted was compairable with the other three quotes we recieved.

I had a very old 4 ft. chain link fence around my back yard, but when I got a new puppy, I needed to have a 6 ft. chain link fence installed to ensure he could not jump the fence. I checked to see if any of my neighbors minded if I had a fence company install the new 6 ft fence and remove all three old 4 ft sides (In their yards). No one minded, so I got two estimates. Citywide was actually the lower of the two estimates, but I was impressed with their response time and professionalism. Bob Perkins was very prompt to come out and measure the area for the new fence. He listened to all of my concerns and offered suggestions that would help keep the new dog from either going under or over the fence. He was very professional and knew what he was talking about. He assured me that they could start the job within a couple of weeks - and they did. As I asked, he told me the day before they were planning to start so that I could have the neighbors make other arrangements while the fence was going in, if necessary. The team arrived, started early, only took a brief lunch period and worked without wasting any time. When work was done for the first day, they left the area clean. They arrived early to start work the next day, and worked until they were finished with job. They even finished early. The work was timelyand well done. The team was prompt, efficient and professional. Mr. Perkins visited the job site and ensured the work was done to my liking. I would hire Citywide Fence Co. again if I need any future fencing done.

It took a while for them to respond. We did have a few days of bad weather between the time we first contacted them and the time the job was completed, so that may have contributed to the "slow to respond" factor, but overall, we are very happy with the work they did.
Description of Work: Following a windstorm where a tree fell on a section of our fence, they replaced 4 sections of split rail fence, an end post, and a gate. Also replaced some of the damaged fencing material.

I called City Wide Fence for an estimate and Mr. Bob Perkins provided this estimate on 23 Aug 11. The estimate was $420. After obtaining other estimates, I hired City Wide on 19 Aug 11 to perform the work. This estimate was $5 within other estimates I received. The work was performed the morning of 30 Aug 11. I'm very satisfied so far with the work performed. The gates were custom made and appear to be well made and sturdy. I reserve further comment until I've used the gates for a while. They were just installed this morning. The workers did not leave any messes that had to be cleaned up. I will definitely use them again in the future if necessary, and I will recommend this company to others. The only minor complaint I have is that I did not know in advance that the work was going to be done today. Mr. Perkins said when he came to provide the estimate that it would be about 2 weeks before the work would be performed (time to make the gates), so I was quite surprised to find the workers at my home this morning (2 business days after I hired them). I was waiting to hear from Mr. Perkins as to when they could perform the work!
Description of Work: I needed 10 foot wide, 48" high, double drive gates replaced, as well as a gate post straightened and 2 rail rods put back in place. A huge tree branch had fallen on my gates during a thunderstorm.

MR. PERKINS GAVE US A DETAILED ESTIMATE. THE CREW SHOWED UP IN A TIMELY MANNER, WERE POLITE, AND DID MINIAL DAMAGE TO SURROUNDING LANDSCAAPE WHICH CORRECTED ITSELF. IN OTHER WORDS NO PERMANENT DAMAGE. THE GATES WERE BIG AND HEAVY SO THEY INSTALLED EXTRA HARDWARE TO KEEP THEM FROM SAGGING. MR. PERKINS WAS RESPONSIVE TO ANY AND ALL CONCERNS WE HAD.

Bob was friendly and knowledgeable when he came out for the quote. My goal was to block the view of a neighbors very poorly kept backyard, and to complete the fence so my puppy couldn't get out. Bob provided a reasonable quote for the project and I hired him on the spot. (I'd had two others come out to give quotes as well.) He said it would be two weeks before they could get out, but a week later, he sent two guys to complete the job. They had in completed in about six hours and it looks fantastic. If I decide to complete the privacy fence around the backyard, I'll definitely call City Wide. The guys he sent were courteous, quite, and cleaned up as the went along, leaving my background in great shape. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

The crew was friendly and efficient. There was no damage to the lawn or surrounding plants. Including the removal of the old fence, the job was completed in two days. I have since referred two people to the company.
Description of Work: The company removed the existing fence and hauled it away. They installed 150 feet of 6 foot shadow-box fence using treated pine pickets. The pickets are thicker and wider than the typical ones you see in local stores. They used 6" x 6" posts for the gate posts and were generous with the concrete.

I have an old wood privacy fence. Several of the support posts had rotted and broken off at ground level. One of the posts also supported a large gate that needed to be re-hung. I called City Wide Fence Co. after finding it on Angie's List. The owner came out the next day to inspect the job and develop an estimate. I found his quote very reasonable and accepted it on the spot. In a few days, two workmen came and performed the work. They were very professional and did an excellent job. In about four hours they removed the six damaged posts and replaced them with new ones. They re-hung the gate and replaced the hinges on the gate with new heavier duty ones to prevent the gate from sagging in the future. All of the posts are straight and the gate now works perfectly. I was totally pleased with City Wide Fence Co., and I will call them in the future when I need fence repairs.

The materials are top of the line and greatly exceeded my expectations. This fence will hold a bull. Their attention to detail is first rate. They found my property markers which had been buried for years. They walked the property lines with me several times as we discussed the placement of poles and gates. I was able to tweak the installation plans up to the time they dug the hole for the post. Keith kept me constantly informed on the status of the work which was delayed a couple of times by weather. Their workmanship is excellent. They were careful around all utility lines, etc so we encountered no problems from that perspective. Their estimate was in the middle of the four estimates that I received. They listened closely as I described where and how I wanted the fence laid out. They offered quality suggestions but the final decision was always mine. I had a gut feeling from the first time I met Keith that I was going to get a quality product. They exceeded my expectations in all aspects. The custom hand-built gates mate with the rail posts perfectly. They are so balanced that I'll never have to worry about them closing behind me.
Description of Work: They provided all the materials and labor to install about 600 linear feet of three rail, split-rail fence with a vinyl-coated, welded-wire mesh inside as a dog retainer.

The guys at City Wide were easy to deal with from the get-go. The customer service was great with plenty of communication throughout the process. The finished product looks great! My neighbor complained that he ran over several segments of chainlink with his lawnmower that the installers did not pick up when they completed the job. Also, they left dirt piles around the post holes which means that I must replant the grass in those spots. All in all, they did a great job at a great price.

My wife and I were both very pleased. Here's the story. Got CW's name from Angie's list. Called on phone. Told them at the start that we had gotten their name from Angie's list. They seemed quite aware of what Angie's list was and what it did. Took a couple of days to get someone out here to take a look at the situation. Mr. Perkins was nicely dressed in a CW t-shirt. Very courteous. Called on cell phone when he saw he was running late (had to go to a T-ball game; no problem). 3 days later, I think, he e-mailed us a quote. I think it was $3992.00 for about 175 feet of fence. Took a week to 10 days after acceptance of the quote for them to start. Not all their fault. Some delay caused by rain. Dayton in the springtime can have long stretches of rainy weather. 3 man crew. Worked hard when they were here and working. They spent one day sitting in in their truck waiting for the rain to stop. Took them a week to do the job. The quote was for the job. We just told them we wanted a 6' privacy fence. When the wife started to ask about the style of fence and asked to modify the type of fence they were going to install (simple and basic, with dog ears) the quote went up dramatically. We decided to go with simple and basic. We agreed ahead of time that payment in full would be due upon completion of the job and that they would accept a check drawn on our home equity line of credit. When the job was done, I walked the property with another manager (I think his name was Chris). We had a little disagreement as to which way part of the fence would be facing. Doing it the way I thought Mr. Perkins and I had agreed on would have required pulling up the fence posts and moving them 5" inward. Chris was very agreeable (I think he anticipated that I would be writing this report) and double-sided part of the fence for free, which solved the problem. I was wondering what kind of hardware they would use, if any, for the gates. We hadn't talked about this at all. Turns out they used very nice, black, lockable hardware for all three gates. After I finished the inspection, including the double facing, and approved the project, I asked Chris how much I should write the check for, wondering if there would be any "add-ons" or additional taxes or fees. Answer was no. So I wrote a check for exactly the amount quoted, not a penny more or less. Overall, I would recommend CW to anyone who needs a fence put in. They did good job, in timely fashion, for exactly the price quoted. I don't know whether they were desperate for work (Dayton's economy is going downhill along with the auto industry on which it depended) or were working to get a good report on Angie's list, and I don't care. They were a pleasure to deal with.
Description of Work: CW put in a 6' privacy fence for us. It wasn't an easy job. Lots of brush to clear first. Pit bull in the yard next door (the reason we had to get the fence).

At first they seemed great, good price, seemed nice enough. I was told that they would move the fence back 7 feet, fill with 60 lbs. of concrete, and then remove all left over concrete from original post holes. Well, they moved the fence, adding an additional 7 feet or so in order to extend, and it looked ok. I paid them and they were on their way. Later that day, my wife noticed that the arch that they made was much higher than the rest of our original fence. Also, after further inspection, the original concrete was not removed and the original holes were not even filled in. I contacted Bob (owner), and asked that they come back out and finish what I had paid for. Long story short, he called back, said they would be out the next day, and never showed. I did not even bother calling them back, as it is difficult to get anyone on the phone. Go with Hall's Fence in Fairborn instead!

Keith and Bob were great to work with! They have a no-pressure style that can throw you off a little (in a good way). Keith was very responsive (and patient) with my endless list of questions. There were some issues with pricing estimates because I kept changing my mind, but it worked out OK. I feel that vinyl fence material is way overpriced (that's why price gets a B), but this is my gripe against the industry in general, not City Wide. Keith actually shopped various suppliers to find me the best value. Dropped of samples from different manufacturers for me to compare. Even provided names of other reputable fence companies so I could get competing quotes! Provided reference not just of happy customers, but also a couple of cases where there had been problems that City Wide resolved. Since I had other new-house-related expenses, they worked out a payment plan to help me out. After work was completed, they were still very responsive to a few nit-picky issues that I had!!!!
Description of Work: Installed white vinyl fence with two gates and green chain link fence around my new house. Since my lot has a slight slope, they warned me that the vinyl panels might have a stepped look. When the work was done, I was pleasantly surprised (as were they) at how well the panels racked and followed the slopes!
