Keystone Home Inspections is a locally owned and operated home inspection business serving the greater Cleveland, Ohio area in Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties. Keystone Home Inspections is a one person operation, not a large inspection firm where you the client become a number. I feel this type of organization best satisfies the needs of my clients by devoting my personal individual time with them. I understand that purchasing a home can be a very stressful time in ones life. My goal as your home inspector is to educate you about the condition of the home so you can make an informed decision upon purchase. I will conduct a non invasive, unbiased visual inspection of the home and its systems, reporting on conditions of the home, both positive and negative.
My Qualifications
I am a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). To reach member status with ASHI, all inspectors must pass the National Home Inspectors Exam, the ASHI Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics Exams and complete no fewer than 250 fee paid Home Inspections. Reports are reviewed by ASHI’s report verification team to insure that the home inspector is following the ASHI Standard of Practice and providing proficient inspection reports.
I am a certified Home Inspector by the American Home Inspectors Training Institute (AHIT).
Experienced in the residential construction industry.

Although the services provided were perfectly acceptable, I found the inspector to be acting inappropriately during the encounter. While I was having a discussion with the realtor who had recommended him, and I simply pointed out politely that a realtor does not get paid if no sale occurs, he attempted to come to the defense of the realtor (uninvited, as I recall), even though I was speaking of realtors in general, not this particular realtor. He kept trying to refute my points, and when I did not back down, he attempted to win the argument by raising his voice, causing me to respond in kind. Finally, when he saw that I would not allow him to win the argument merely by the loudness of his voice (because by that time he was yelling at me), he appeared to lose control, and he turned and walked away, yelling, “I’m not going to talk to you!” His inability to carry on a civil discussion, and his inappropriate manner when challenged, causes one to believe he lacks the maturity to interact with customers in a courteous manner without resorting to rudeness and bullying tactics.

Scott showed up on time and was very professional. He did a very thorough job checking all aspects of the property. At the end of the inspection we went over all major findings. He took over 150 pictures which went in to my 50 page detailed explanation of all the findings. I was able to call him couple of days after for follow up questions. I would definitely recommend and use them again.

It went very well; the inspector was on time, spent time explaining things as the inspection went along, and produced a written report quickly.

Description of Work: Greg Kolar is the absolute BEST at home inspections. I am a Realtor and he is on the list of preferred inspectors. He is fair, honest, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Not enough superlatives to describe him and his services. Much of the Real Estate industry uses him on (especially) the East Side of Cleveland. I sell all east AND west....he services west, as well. He really is there for the buyers, or sellers, if needed. | |

Description of Work: Overall the inspection went well. I appreciated the format/delivery of the report the most. Professional and fast paced. He got there early and had already reviewed the outside before I arrived. Afterwards, he reviewed the issues he had noticed in my absence. This was for a 1350 sq ft house with 2 stories and a basement with a detached garage. It did seem a little on the high side, but not by much.

Greg called me back right away and scheduled the inspection, coordinating with my real estate agent. He was very thorough in his evaluation, and saw several things that we missed during our 2 visits when we looked at the house. I also should say that I own several rental properties, and Greg's inspection was one of the most thorough and professional I have seen. Since we have now owned the house for about 2 years, I can say that there is nothing that he missed. We were able to make the suggested repairs, and we have not had to do anything else since buying the property. I have recommended Greg to several friends, and will continue to use him in the future.

Greg was very professional and easy to work with. I was happy with the quality of the report. The report was delivered promply (1 day after the inspection). During the inspection, he was quick to give advise on things I should do/repair once I purchased the house. He was also helpful in suggesting local businesses to do work on the property if needed.

Greg is a pleasure to deal with and was most professional in his explanation of the problem areas he uncovered. As he did the inspection he took pictures which he used in his detailed report. He did just what I was looking for and that was a list of areas where we can start cleaning up the home so when a future buyer has the home inspected there are not any "surprises". We got what we wanted and now have started working on our punch list. I would highly recommend Greg and his company for those who would like a detailed home inspection by a true processional.
Description of Work: I called Mr. Greg Kolar and asked if he would provide me a detailed home inspection so that I could make required repairs prior to putting our home on the market. He arrived at the precise time we had agreed to and did a very detailed inspection. The inspection was 37 pages long with pictures and detailed description of the problems identified. He was personable and reviewed the items that were of a more serious nature prior to leaving our home.

Greg is extremely knowledge, professional and very easy to interact with. He called with the radon and well water potability test results as soon as they came in and we received a comprehensive report the morning after our inspection. The report was detailed and provided pictures to support areas of concern. His report was instrumental in negotiations with the seller in making repairs to the property prior to transfer of title. We highly recommend Greg to anyone searching for a home inspector.
Description of Work: Greg conducted a home inspection on a house that we had placed an offer on. In addition to the general house inspection he conducted radon testing and well water potability. He spent approximately 4 hours with us conducting the general inspection and walked us through each area of the house pointing out concerns and answering all of our questions.

Amazing. We've been involved in two prior inspections. Greg is the most professional, personable, and seemingly well informed person we've dealt with. He was punctual, thorough, and the most helpful aspect of our home-buying process. He responded to emails immediately, and was quick to respond to follow up questions we had. He even returned to check out one other thing about the house that he initially was concerned about. That return trip was free-of-charge. I would and will use him next time without a doubt. Even our realtor was impressed, and will be using Greg from now on.
Description of Work: Complete home inspections for us, as buyers. Greg checked all floors, insides and out, appliances, and did radon testing (that is why the fee was increased to $425 from his inspection fee of $275.
